I used to wake up somewhere bear 4 in the morning to Bob Ross and stay up until the sun rose (they always played 2-3 episodes) and watch him with my mom. As time went, I found out my older brother watched him too. My mom would always go to work early in the morning and I got up to watch him with my brother. This was one of our favorite paintings. After my brother died when I was 8 (he was 21), the only thing that brought me out of depression was Bob. Now I'm reaching my brother's age when he died and I still love to watch Bob Ross, not only in memory of my brother, but because he represents the peace I needed in my life after my brother died.
HippyLotus great story about how Bob has made such a huge impact on peoples lives. I can relate to him bringing me happiness and calmness from anxiety. Hope you stay strong.

I quit taking Ambien because of Bob Ross. I don't think I've ever seen a single video of his till the very end. I just fall asleep, it's so soothing, calm and peaceful Bob Ross is my spirit animal.

I truly find it funny that I am kinda like Bob Ross... I also lived in Alaska. I lived there in Anchorage though for 14 years! Both my boys were born there... And now I live in Florida.. And have been here 16 years..and just started to paint by watching Bob Ross!

Yesterday I was watching Arctic Beauty, and it's one of the bests; the colour that Bob used for the sky gave the painting some sort of enchanting mystery.
a few years back I was thinking about selling some of my paintings at the local weekend market, the woman who owned it wanted to see them first, she was an "artist" of course so not very impressed with my offerings made the comment that they reminded her of Bob Ross, she meant it as a slight but to me it was the best compliment I'd ever got!
Hi Dolores, I agree! Bob Ross was a master of creating the illusion of depth and distance on a flat canvas, and was a keen observer of the effect of light and shadow. If your paintings remind someone of Bob Ross you have every reason to be proud!

Not many know...few still carry the memories with them. But in the days before the great Bob Ross, paint brushes were the most commonly possessed objects in all the world. Young Bob was actually attacked by a bedeviled fanbrush...nearly cost him an eye. Bob did is best to wipe the ordeal from his mind, but, alas...he could not.
Bob found himself drawn to painting...well, he liked painting, but he LOVED cleaning the brushes. He thought cleaning the brushes was like symbolically cleaning his soul. Then, one fateful day, a stubborn blob of paint on an old 2” brush required vigorous cleaning to remove...bob struck his easel with it *THWACK* and the room went dark and the windows slammed and wind whipped and Bobs ordeal from his youth came flooding back. A weaker man would have burned the entire painting studio to the ground around him, but not our Bob, no. He grabbed the next brush and the next and “beat the devil” out of each one in turn.

I always watched him as a kid to now...never realized he was my introduction to asmr till years later. Because he's so calming. My 6 year old likes to watch him now.

So very Beautiful as all of Bob's Paintings are. Miss him so much. But know he is with his loving wife Jane and they are all very happy in another time from us now. I am 76 now and watched bob for many years.,and will till i am passed over. God Love Steve and all of Bobs Family.

I would say it's weird that Bob is the only human able to bring me out of reality and into this happy, tranquil state of mind but I think that goes for everyone who has ever watched Bob Ross. He was a such a blessing to this earth.

I would get home after playing, stay up till Bob Ross came on, and the voice would put me right to sleep.
I remember watching Bob Ross in the afternoons when I was a daycare kid. And even then I was mesmerized by him. Brings back memories of being a kid.
