The whole point of the resonator stepping down is to force that air through it. If you go 3"ID it will quite probably be no quieter than it is now as there is nothing going through its media will just pass right by through the past of least resistance... Don't get me wrong it may do but the original resonator had a nominal diameter of 3"? So it stands to reason that's the way it was designed to work

Aero turbine muffler on the cream s13 would be perfect. One of the best sounding mufflers on the market to me. And its still straight through design, so no flow restriction.
