Bro, you know how op that’d make Judy?
Ok as someone who was intrigued with these comics as they came out (cuz the art work was good and story wise better then some fanfics I’ve read) the official jfk comic was originally SUPPOSED to end with Judy getting shot and her wife running out the back. Borba even said they researched how that specific type of gun would leave a blood splatter/explosion if I’m remembering correctly. But as people said it felt out of place borba added the jam part at the end to lessen the blow. But canonically the gunshot was meant to be real, borba just didn’t have the balls to go through with it apparently or they trolled everyone. Either way that stuff after the shot was added on after later date if my memory serves me right.

“These comics have never been shit, they’ve just absurd.” Makes a lot of sense actually
they are kinda shitty melodramas tho, if you remove the zootopia characters it's just a boring soap opera, the absurdity of adding a kid friendly property to the mix is what makes everyone talk about these comics.
It’s the same energy as someone making a crack fic or a story with a crack ship, except they put a ton of effort into making it good.
man the ending pulled off a jfk
@@rencecs6720 no it was a fake out.
what's so oddd about this comic is that if it was with OCs or -hell- even something more 'mature' themed like Beastars in-where the topics discussed could've totally happened in universe, it would've been GOOD. Like, the art is great, the themes are relatable/current, and even the writing is good - if a bit cheesy and too-fast-paced, in my humble opinion. It's just done with characters from a movie where that doesn't feel like it would take place, within the universe. It's like if you put the entirety of a fanfiction website inside a juicer and consentrated the absurdity from it and put it into a comic form. The traction around this comic is deserved.
Dude this would make an absolutely wild (and probably very good) Beastars comic. The adult themes and the politics in it would really fit the tone.
Well, Zootopia is from 2016 and Beastars mangas come on 2017, but Beastars only become popular on 2019 when the anime was announced for Netflix, i've been a furry since 2017 and i've never heard about the mangas lmao
@@meykenhokzii4848 That’s usually the cycle of manga and anime in the west. Beastars is lucky it caught on so quickly in japan, otherwise it may have been a bit longer till we got an anime or even an english translation. Basically, expect the popularity peak or even the release of an anime / manga in the west to be MUCH different than its release in japan.
@@meykenhokzii4848 As a long time reader of the manga, I realize this; I'm mostly just saying how (regardless of time, more-so just post 2012 when the issues inside of the comic were more relevant, than ever before.) well the story works, within an appropriate setting. Sure, Zootopia has a baseline message about racial prejudice; but Zootopia didn't glance over the realness of being abandoned during pregnancy and the trauma that comes with have an abortion that goes wrong - ALONE. That's a kinda horrific scenario to put a character like Judy into. BUT, a character like Haru? You can totally see the Manga creator going down that path since cannibalism, a black-market for meat mainly supplied by unclaimed bodies from hospitals, goring, Human(?) trafficking, prostitution, a "hero" who composts bodies in his garden, Carnivore + herbavore hybrids & a said-hybrid who is FUCKING INSANE, etc. If the comic was based off of that, a similar show/comic, or a totally original universe - well shit, I think it would just be praised.
Wait no bots!!!!! Yaaaaay
I'm looking at the comic right now, and the art is absolutely beautiful. Whatever anyone thinks, nobody can deny that the artist who drew that is very talented at drawing.
Yes, but a lot of artist should know their limits and get a writer.
17:05 These panels were actually added at a later date. It’s speculated that Borba added these to counter the backlash of Judy being JFK’d
Makes Sense, the Colors and Art style changes a bit.
now we need Disney to say this is cannon
They need to copyright claim the comic and every UA-cam channel that covered it (much like wabbit season from meat canyon)
The Arby's one needs to be cannon
I hope they claim it because then it will be canon. 😂
@@bunkerzero I'm surprised Disney hasn't done that to the creator of the comic yet
@@bunkerzero lol
The detailed art, the brilliant visual storytelling, the drama, the emotional beats, the expertly crafted dialogue, the little details, the ending being actually fulfilling and meaningful… I fucking hate that it’s used on a Zootopia comic about Judy getting an abortion and Nick being casually homophobic that ends on a JFK joke. Gotta hand it to him.
I always found this comic extremely ironic considering how foxes in real life perform abortion in nature. Like, it's a body mechanic for them, if they decide they can't take care of their kits their body will just expell the fetuses (though sometimes they ingest poison on purpose to aid in that). If they're late in development they will just leave them out to die or eat them.
To make it double ironic, rabbits can not get pregnant if they don't want to, as well.
This comic doesn't actually seem terrible and i don't know how to feel about that.
It's a real interesting piece of art, isn't it
@@blockhead4791 It would have been good with other characters and setting, like beastars. A Fanfic was never going to be taken seriously. Hell, it has potential as a thriller, if Judy died having the baby and nick regretted everything, has to be a single dad and the baby faced discrimination.

The jfk berry jam thing is probably a reference to how Judy and nick replace the nighhowler bullets with blueberries on the climax of the movie.
Writing problems with the comic:
1, The First comic was dead serious and it was pro-life. The author denies it now from the negative reception, but the interactions I had with him at the time, all point to it that this is just him trying to save-face and sell the comic as something that isn't. He even says that its just dark-humor, something that he didn't say ONCE when the comic was being made and released. He threatened to bann/block people who laughed at the comic.
2, It didn't present the best of both pro-life and pro-choice arguments, it presented the worst possible reasoning detached reasoning from both sides. This isn't how a couple would argue about keeping a child that concerns their personal life and families, its how two strangers with signs at a protest would argue because of their personal beliefs.
3, Judy speculates that the child might be too big without any evidence or consulting a professional. Aborting a child for unconfirmed health-concerns feels like she is lying to herself to justify her action.
4, She is not a career driven character. The Creators and the movie itself presents Judy as a selfless character, that just wants to do good in the world. In fact, a predator-prey child if healthy could be the greatest good she could give to zootopia's society, as she would risk her body to show the world and other predator/prey couples that what everyone thought is impossible, is in fact possible.
5, Nick is not a religious nutjob, he was a con-artist. The last thing he would do is throw the word "sin" into Judy's face even if he would believe that abortion is murder. In the movie he has shown enough intelligence to be able to tell that to change Judy's mind, he'd would need to change her perspective and give her personal reasons why he'd want to be a father. He would try to work on Judy's rationale point out that her fears are unfounded, not try to guilt-trip her into keeping the kid.
6, The sequels are the worst kind of reaction to the back-lash he got from the first. It's mocking the fanbase and the people who pointed out the errors he made with the characterizations in the first one. While the first one at least came from a honest place the second and thirst one comes out of resentment and to spite everyone who disliked Judy and Nick breaking up in such unbelievable, artificial way. The second and third comics are him intentionally making comics that will piss off as many people as possible.
Literally fax!
I think everyone’s looking at it with the wrong angle. I think it’s intended to be a realistic portrayal. Sure, their animal people, but the essence of a good story is despite many aspects of it being fantastical, the interactions between characters are raw and authentic to every day human experiences, even if they might not be your every day human experiences. That being said, even in this particular scenario, I swear there are real situations where people would say exactly what they’re saying. Actually to me they argue points that seem like would be reasonable to a lot of people, to me it is more about the relationship though between the two characters rather than what their actual beliefs were. Maybe I’m looking at this too much from an anime consuming perspective , As Japanese media does this, portrays raw human characters regardless of whether the characters are actually human or not, and it’s not actually about agreeing or disagreeing or whatever with whatever the characters believe in. It’s all about witnessing their story, and the outcomes of it. Americans look for role models way too much subconsciously especially, it’s an inherent part of our culture and it’s some thing that we should get rid of. At least I think it’s healthy to look at stories of stories unless otherwise specified as parables.
@@otakumangastudios3617 but that just begs the question... why make it a Zootopia comic aside from just making it absurdist? If the author just wanted to portray a breakup over an abortion, they didn't need to use Zootopia characters to do that. They could've used something like, say, Bojack Horseman, where the topic of abortion wouldn't feel too out of place, and is actually a perfect example of what you're talking about, or, hell JUST MAKE THEIR OWN CHARACTERS! You cannot tell me that this person doesn't have the talent or creativity to make their own OCs given what's on display in these comics.
@@faultyvideos2215 I'm gonna take a wild guess here and say he intentionally chose Zootopia so that more people, especially kids and teens, would click on his comic and share it. Almost like he wanted it to be a meme that people would take seriously, which of course they didn't because who the fuck would
