When I was investigated by the NCIS for my Secret security clearance approval for a MEU to serve at the Korean DMZ, my investigating officer had a literal wall sized gay pride confederate flag covering the back wall of his office.
I ended up asking him about it since it was a literal flashbang when I walked in. He said he was told to put up something "Emotionally distressing" as an interrogation tactic to keep someone from being able to actively come up with lies on the spot. Probably the funniest thing I have ever seen, a 6' 5" 300 pound black dude made out of pure muscle sitting in front of that flag while asking me if I think I would be a threat to national security. Literally cant even make this shit up.

The NSA one is actually interesting/important because for a long time, public officials were fired for being LGBTQ+ because they were worried about identities being used as blackmail as a national security issue. For this reason, if the NSA wants to superficially support pride, I am pretty much ok with that.
I remember while being at the mall, I went into Spencer's because the Pride collection on the front caught my eye. I noticed they had skirts with certain flags, simple stuff. However, the only ones they had (and I even checked the website) were lesbian, bisexual, pan, and the classic rainbow. I didn't think much of it first, but I realized these three sexualities are ones that can apply to women. Feminine clothing, that only represents sexualities that can apply to women. Enforcing gender roles in the pride collection, genius 😎

They also have a job to do (and some of those jobs are media and advertising) so thats why every 4th of July they pretend they love America, and why every June they pretend they're all in support of the LGBT community and why during any other holiday or month they pretend to like whatever is going on. It's pandering to an extent but at the sane time it's also done for thematic reasons, as well as being done to keep people off their case if they don't do a Santa themed ad for Christmas.
They basically have to do it because if they don't, people will complain and it'll look way worse than pandering to the media.

Idk how much sense this is going to make, but that Postmates one seems like it's "outdated." Like how we look back at ads that were like, "ladies, make sure you are fresh down there for your man."

As someone who's bisexual which technically makes me half gay, I don't really like a lot of the things companies do for the whole community as a whole. It feels so forced, and tacky and overall just used for business and not for any other reason. I'd rather they just don't bother than make a fool of themselves

To be completely honest, every June just feels fake in some way. I’m bi, so what? I’m special for one month. Sure thing i guess.
Though, this years pride month didn’t even get noticed, at least that’s what i think. Well, there are the casual, Company logos change, everything’s covered in rainbows, i guess it’s kinda funny how CEOS try to care. As soon as June’s over the community is just kinda “gone” until the next time. Boom. Same shit. I just wonder why they have to exaggerate pride and different sexualities, to the point where i feel unnatural even though it’s a month where i can express myself in. It is what it is though, i don’t mind rainbow desserts and discounts on clothing
It probably started as a good cause, to acknowledge and help the people that might not get the positive treatment they deserve, but companies just saw it as an opportunity to bring more attention to themselves and commercialise it (like they do with most things), so yeah, it's not entirely genuine

and half the time it feels completely hypocritical. like ive spoken to a few LGBTQ+ members who say that they deserve this month because theyve been oppressed or some shit, but if you say you dont want to be a part of it and have it shoved down your throats how gay some people are, suddenly youre homophobic? and then for some reason people take that as an excuse to oppress you?? So many people completely miss the point of pride month in the first place, its not about me as a straight man whatsoever, and its not about all the attention seeking fakers like "dreamsgender" people. But for some reason people have become so complacent with this lazy marketing that its now basically a company's only option in june. i guess because some people in that community were so desperate to be accepted they just took whatever sucking up they got? its all an excuse to make money, companies aren't your friends, i dont know why people think this changes somehow in june. but i guess thats the main theme i have a problem with, nothing _really_ changes anymore.

@polocatfan personally i use the ones that are the opposite of what i grew up using. however, the pronouns thing isn't all that relevant here, because i was talking about generally gender neutral language. as in, instead of calling me her little girl she can call me her youngest or her baby or her child. i am very very proud of her for managing that now and i am so so lucky to have her, but there's still things that she says that are hurtful and i hope that will change too.

And Tokyo Disneyland wouldn’t do this because like in the US, even with Japanese technology continuing to advance, unfortunately can’t say the the same with Japanese politics. Japanese society is still conservative and traditional. It’s gonna take some time for them to catch up and accept social change. Same sex-marriage still isn’t legal there
