The furry was really smart by using their fursuit in a skiing area. It gets really cold out there, and a fursuit gets warm and is pretty much the same as 3 jackets being on you in a below zero area.

2:33 being a fursuit owner myself (I'm not rich, I made it on my own and it's not perfect but I like it :)) to further explain the actual reason, snowboarding involves a lot of exposure to cold weather, and normal fullsuits are not only potentially very heavy, but also very well-insulated. They are generally constructed out of foam with faux fur attached on top, with a balaclava beneath the head. Thighs and other parts of the bodysuit are sometimes padded with more (thicker) pieces of foam, thus making the fursuit not only heavier, but more prone to overheating.
The reason the guy was wearing goggles still is likely because the eyes are made out of buckram, which has holes in it. Obviously, frigid, high-speed wind hitting you in the eyes is not a very pleasant experience, neither is staring at very bright snow on your way down (buckram doesn't do much for eye protection, the gaps are too big).
In other words, fursuits are too hot, heavy, and thick to do much walking, let alone actual _exercise_ in them. Snowboarding is probably the ONLY sport that you can do while fursuiting. There are a lot of other furries who do a lot of other sports, you just don't recognize them because they know what they're doing, and they know five pounds of fabric and foam will make it hard to breathe, hard to move, and will potentially damage the fursuit.
