Furry animals hate it most! Unless they have a special oil layer to keep their skin dry (otters, polar bears, tigers, labrador retrievers, Turkish water cats, etc) the water really weighs them down and takes a long time to dry. Sometimes it can even cause mold to grow in their fur

@@Timeward76 it really depends on the tine of day and the weather. Cats are more active at dusk and dawn, so they will sleep on average 15 hours during the day. Some cats will take a catnap, which is usually they go into a light sleep so they can spring up at a moments notice to escape from predators. They are also hardwired to conserve energy, which is why some active cats will sleep to 15-20 hours. However, if your cat is doing nothing BUT sleeping that is not very healthy.

The animal medical center in NYC is terrible, probably one of the worst hospitals ever. They could not figure out what was wrong with my dog, tried to pinch me for every penny. Said my dog most likely had cancer, and wanted to charge 5,000 dollars for an MRI. Didn’t want to do that, went to an amazing veterinary hospital in another state, drove a few hours away. Did the MRI for less money, but the doctor wanted to actually test what was wrong. Within in the first consultation, Dr. figured out what was wrong with my dog, it was one of the most COMMON diseases that the breed of my dog gets, tested with a specific blood test, and my dog showed ALL of the symptoms of this disease. Sorry about my rant, there are many doctors in this hospital, but if you are in the NYC area and must go here, please, PLEASE be wary.

This was super helpful!! I grew up with dogs my whole life, and then one day I came home about a year ago to find a stray had given birth on my porch!! My 140-pound Great Dane immediately loved these teeny little several-hour-old kittens. They still snuggle up to her when they nap. I adopted the whole litter, but it’s definitely been a learning experience.

Cats and dogs. We brought home a rescue dog to a house with 4 cats. Two of the cats were obviously not fond of this big, funny-smelling creature and generally kept their distance but the other two saw a big warm bed and were cuddled up with the dog whenever she was taking a nap. The dog wasn't exactly fond of the cats at first either, but since she couldn't avoid her new bed-mates, she got over that pretty quickly.

My cat called me mom. He could do tricks (high five, fist bump, sit, wait, boop *standing up and booping the arm above them*, he could ring a bell, and we were working on the cup game where you have three cups and out a treat under one and mix them. He was right about 60% of the time by the time he passed). He could speak short words (i know it was mimicking behavior but so cute).
He seen me as his mom and often tried to nurse off my ear. Which was funny 🤣. He acted a lot like he did with his mommy Gizmo. He was special. I lost him to diabetic complications in March at 16.
Ironically while he was dealing with diabetes he would actually wake me up if my blood sugar got too low. He'd go so far as to bite me HARD if I wouldn't respond. One night that saved my life. I dunno how he knew?
He also would not let me get up if I was having sleeping problems (when i would wake sometimes i could move but if i tried to stand I'd collapse and get hurt due to weakness).
When those episodes happened Tigger would jump up on me lay down and refuse to move. He pulled that thing where they get totally heavier (and being weak i couldnt move him) and he would lick my face crazily to stimulate my brain and body to resync. (It was a partial form of sleep paralysis). He would jump off after I was safe.
He truly was a special boy and we were synced up and everyone seen that bond. Rest in peace sweet boy 💗
Anyone who thinks cats are bd or dumb or whatever you aare missing out. They are special.

When my sister had a baby, she was also taking care of my cat. My cat can be feisty sometimes, and spontaneously scratch or give a little bite if she has a mood. So my sister was very worried about the baby. Turns out, my cat recognized the baby as special, and would let the baby literally tear out her fur without even lifting a paw. One time my sister was doing laundry, when my cat started circling her feet and meowing loudly. Turns out the baby had started crying and my sister couldn’t hear it, so my cat went and got her attention. Now there’s a second baby, and she’s just as gentle with them both. :)

They had seen their siblings and mother before because when kittens are born (not sure how long) they stay with their mother for a certain period and siblings for variety of reasons and than get adopted unless they are street cats but with your cat, maybe your cat seems to like you very much because of whatever you did or do with him. (You may release some more unique scents while aroused, for example, but I'd expect most people will not normally be aroused when hanging out with cats).
If men and women smell uniquely seperate to your cat, that's far more likely due to differences in perfumed products men and women typically purchase. These products are designed to have lasting odor and neutralize natural body odors that your hormones could affect.
Individual people do have unique smells though, so if you aren't regularly perfumed (and deodorant obviously counts here) than your cat is likely observant enough to recognize you by your smell alone. But that's a "you" smell, not a "male/female" smell.

Yes and no. Cats do show kind of the same bevahior that human toddlers do when it comes to attachment. It can be assumed that cats and small children exhibit the same attachment styles. But the truth is that toddlers (during their first years of life) also basically are only attached to their caregivers because they get food, safety and comfort from them. So it could be argued that cats do kind of see us as parents, but more like in the eyes of a toddler for whom affection is mostely an appreciation of the care that is given to him or her.

To be fair, dry cat food is not exactly meat (but it may contain non-vegan products). Good-quality cat food does contain everything cats require - they are generally better off eating good-quality dry food than dubious-quality meat even if they prefer the latter.
Furthermore, feral cats eat not just meat but sometimes other parts of their prey, so feeding them just beef may not be enough (please ask your vet).
Most important part - unlike almost any other animal/pet cats absolutely have to consume taurine regularly - this is a leading problem with vegans AFAIK. Without that cats become sick, blind and then die. Natural meat and cat food contains that, but not other food - e.g. plants, dog food, "vegan meat substitutes", some processed products.

They typically normally hunt at dusk and dawn in the wild but can do it anytime possibility arises.
They play, groom, explore and ask for food anytime they feel like it.

You can fill in the gap as a source of food, but the cat won't trust a stranger after one feeding unless it's used to getting food from multiple different people. I've fed some people's cats that I only knew the cat was there because the food would keep disappearing between feedings and I've fed some cats that were all up in my face while I was filling their bowls. It depends on the personality, but cats can get used to new caregivers over time.

They'd often run around the house and Snowball even respected Freckles as he'd stop doing something he wasn't supposed to when Freckles got after him about it like when he would bat around the ornaments on the Christmas Tree. When Freckles got really old(we finally had to put him down at 17)and he wasn't able to move much Snowball would lay down beside him and would try to get him to play. But they are both obligate carnivores, which means that if you put them in the wild they'd have an antagonistic relationship. Now I don't know on average how a fully grown pet dog or cat reacts if you bring in another pet of the other species into your family and I say that because cats are usually more territorial and I know for a fact that introducing other cats as well can be a difficult process. My cat was terrible. I actually think he had retained some lactose tolerance from being a kitten and damn well knew it. You couldn't leave any bowls of icecream or milk from your cereal out because he would sneak up and help himself. And you'd be like "no stop it. You shouldn't have cows milk man" and he'd be like " I don't care. It's good man. I can take it" and sneak back up on the table as soon as you looked away for another couple licks.
Then again this cat would help himself to your kebab meat, and almost climb up your leg for some raw chicken scraps. He had a pretty iron stomach for virtually all of his life. Not a pedigree softie that's for sure. I would say the sneaky meat treats he'd wrangle of us is what probably helped him live to 19 years.

I would advise regarding the litter box and having someone else clean it -- switch to pine litter. The cat will adjust but the advantages of pine litter are -- a whole lot less tracking and dust. The difference is amazing and it's probably good to do for anyone who also has asthma or lung issues plus bonus -- many of the commercial litters contain chemicals and perfumes and the FDA really doesn't regular pet products made overseas, where alot of this stuff is made.
Look for pine litter that is chemical/perfume free and just clean their box twice a day or more depending on how many cats one has.

First off, notice how I said "die-hard vegans". If I was referring to all vegans, I would have just said "vegans" in my comment.
Die-hard vegans are the vegans who think all organisms shouldn't be eating meat, even if they are carnivorous animals (dogs, cats, sharks, etc). They're basically the vegans that make all vegans look bad, because they strongly believe veganism is the way, the truth and the life, and anyone who doesn't follow their lifestyle is a crooked human being.
Normal vegans (at least from my experience) respect the fact that there are people who like to eat meat and animal byproducts and don't judge them for their preferences. They're the chill vegans (at least from my perspective).
You would be surprised that there are die-hard vegans that are LITERALLY FEEDING THEIR CARNIVOROUS PETS ONLY VEGETABLES on a DAILY BASIS. There are literally vegans out there who believe that dogs and cats shouldn't be eating meat as if it's poisonous for them. THESE PEOPLE GO OUT THEIR WAY TO MAKE OR BUY VEGAN DOG AND/OR CAT FOOD BECAUSE THEY STRONGLY BELIEVE THEIR PETS SHOULDN'T BE EATING MEAT. If you don't believe me, feel free to Google the truth and relay it to me, an unedumacated human being.

"Cats see you as a source of food". It's definitely not just about food, and I'm shocked these women don't know this as vets. Cats actually love you _so much_ that they don't want to share you with anyone else! They are very territorial, and when you develop a bond with your cat, you become a part of that territory because they want everyone in the world to know that you are _theirs_ - hence why they bump their head on you to release scent glands on your clothes, on things you own, and on items of furniture as a way of telling other animals "back off, this human is mine and if you hurt them, I'll hurt you!" If they didn't trust you, they definitely _would not_ allow you to pet them or expose their bellies to you, since both of those positions would leave them vulnerable to other predators in the wild. They will get separation anxiety when you are gone for prolonged periods of time and are just as excited to see their owners as dogs; every time I walk back into my front door, my cat is already waiting for me and will run down the steps just to greet me with her tail high in the air. The only difference between cats and dogs is that cats like to be petted on their own terms because they are naturally independent in the wild, whereas dogs will let you pet them almost anytime you want because they consider you to be their pack leader.
