A7c fits amazingly in my tank bag, but if I’m not running aperture ring lenses and am shooting manual the a7c always takes me a second because of the abnormal dials. I was strickly an A7 IV owner, but was pining for the A7C(original)…The prices got too attractive with the release of the new A7C ii and A7CR and I bit the apple last month and got myself the original A7C. I love it. It is my EDC, going with me places I wouldn’t take my A7 IV. I shoot every day with my A7C. My A7 Iv is still my first love and go to for all those reasons you mentioned, 33MP, the buttons, the dials, the grip, the EVF, the new menu system, the joystick, the rock solid active video stabilization. I love shooting with the A7 IV and it is a remarkable machine. I’m fine with the view finder of my A7C as I use jt and the LCD 50/50 to compose shots, so that isn’t much of a compromise for me. The biggest trade I had to live with on my A7C is that it does not have active video stabilization like my A7 IV. This really makes me not want to shoot hand held video with it, (must use a gimbal for walking video). Of course I wish I had all the buttons of my A7 IV and the joystick, but I can use the custom function menu and I am trading these nice features for the A7C’s small size.

Does the touch to auto focus work better on the IV? Somebody said it was kind of laggy on the a7C and that would honestly be a big reason for me to make the upgrade.
Now I just need to find out what lens I need for shooting video. I’m thinking about the 35 mm because I want something close to what my iPhone looks like. But I’m not sure if I need to get the Sony GM or just the 1.8.

The touch to focus is MILES better on the A7IV. Like, not in the same league. So yea if that's important to you, definitely go with the A7IV.
You absolutely don't need the GM! The 1.8 is a fantastic 35mm and the A7IV sensor will handle the bulk of the load if you need to shoot in low light with that dual base iso. Best thing is that you should be able to find the 35mm 1.8 used for a great price. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching. ✌🏾

How does Sony compare to canon and Nikon? It’s not overpriced or anything is it? I think maybe Sony is all about auto focus and color accuracy? Idk. Hard to think that there are so many details to all of this that I have spent two months and I have only been looking at one brand.

The A7C is not ideal for professionals as it only has one single card slot. A7IV is missing 4K 120 so for some slow mo situations, 1080p 120 is still used though its costing almost a $1000 more than the A7C. A7SIII is great but FAR too expensive. I currently have an a6000, and regardless of the size/quality, the placement of the viewfinder (like the A7C) makes it much easier for me to use comfortably because I am very left-eye dominant. Ergos aren't a huge deal for me. I have dainty hands, I'm used to a small camera, and actually prefer it to be as small as possible for packing/travel, but the 24MP resolution is just not enough for the kind of results I'm looking for. That's my biggest drawback to the A7C. Would really like dual card slots, but if they dropped an A7C II that just had the same sensor as the A7 IV, that would be my clear choice, and something I'll continue hoping for. But as that's not currently an option, this is still a difficult decision. Higher res and dual cards vs. smaller, cheaper, and side EVF.

What kind of lens should I get for my type of videos? I’m thinking 35mm 1.4 gm but people say it’s not good for video. However, my videos are stationary, so I don’t know if I would have anything to be afraid of. But I’m still looking at the 35mm 1.8. They say it has a better minimum focus distance. But then again, none of those are better than my iPhone because the iPhone crops in a little bit when you switch to video. So I am super used to being able to hold my products really close to the lens on my iPhone
Dang I’m going to need a better tripod and mount for this heavy thing no matter what camera and lens I end up going with.
Good thing with the iPhone, all I have to do is just pop it onto the little clamp whenever I need to use it. It’s super simple. For me it’s really hard to justify leaving my iPhone but there are benefits and I need to be able to change the aperture

    • @aboynamedjamil
      @aboynamedjamil  Рік тому +1

Ok, let me say this; inevitably as your channel grows so too will the production of it. Using your iphone works for you now because you've put the time in to learn to use it. The same thing will happen with any camera that you change to. But the change WILL come.
Concerning the GM. You don't need it. I just watched your latest unboxing video and the 1.8 will work perfectly with what you do.
Also, maturity is investing in a good tripod. You're gonna have to eventually.
And listen, the good news is that if you buy all this stuff and you dont like it, you can just return it within 30 days if you buy it from Amazon!

@@aboynamedjamil Thanks for checking it out to give me a specific answer. Honestly, as far as getting used to the iPhone, not really. In fact, I thought it was a flaw that I couldn’t get objects close enough to the camera lol. So it looks like with a different lens and a new camera, I’m going to have to hold objects even farther away. Pros and cons. We’ve made these smart phone cameras, so good that you really have to weigh the pros and cons.
But again, the benefit to my situation is you have to consider the material. Which a lot of the people in these comments are not. They just want to know what camera is better lol. But it’s not always that simple! I’m looking at the tap to focus. Because right now that’s how I operate the iPhone. I am constantly tapping on the controller or the product. But I have heard on the a7C it’s really laggy when you tap to focus. Hopefully that’s a little better on a7iv.
Is 35mm a good one to look at? The reason why I was looking at this is because I think the iPhone camera is naturally a 28mm equivalent, and video crops in automatically so I assume it’s somewhere near 38mm so I was trying to get something comparable. That way I don’t have to change my set up or anything my table and all of that plus I don’t want something to why because I think that would destroy the products? But I do want something wide just seem a little modern. But for some reason, I don’t see a lot of people reviewing video with the 35mm so I hope I’m not making a bad decision? I wanted the GM because it seems with all the videos I’ve seen, it has superior sharpness and quality. And I’m picky.
Honestly, I think the shots with my iPhone look so amazing, I want to make sure I got a good lens because I don’t want it to seem like a downgrade, or even to seem like the same thing. Photographers might notice the difference, but to the normal eye, I have to be honest a lot of the shots I have seen with A7C I don’t really look much different or better than a smart phone. Maybe the blacks are deeper and stuff? That would be nice because I think my iPhone does struggle with black controllers. If you look at my most recent video, I had to actually cut out a lot of the content with the black controller because I feel like it was just washed out and not focused very well but that could be because of the dark brown table behind it. I’m not sure.
Thank you so much for the advice. I can tell you’re really experienced and knowledgeable so it’s a big help.
So true I could always do a return. But honestly 30 days is never long enough for me lol but I do try to remind myself of that! Or even if I decide to purchase locally from Best Buy or something. But I just went on eBay and did a bid for a7iv.
Think Media got me wanting the a7siii lol. And I have the money but I’m trying to not burn through everything until I get more income from content and grow a bit. Good news is the lenses will carry over I think.
As far as growing with the channel, yeah man I’m almost 4 years into this. And I feel like people don’t take me seriously because I feel like I don’t have as good image quality but that could be all in my head. It will definitely be nice to use this camera for my life streams as well. Just hope it doesn’t overheat after streaming for 10 hours.

@@aboynamedjamil as far as learning to use the iPhone, there’s no learning to it my guy. That’s what’s great and that’s why I use it. You put it on the clamp and you press record. I got iPhone, because transferring the files to my computer is the touch of a button. It uses airdrop and it’s there over the air. Some thing about me, I have some type of weird anxiety so every extra step or physical movement in the process can add up and overwhelm me. Kind of like if I have a stream the next day, I will put the microphone in the room the night before, because even though that takes 10 seconds to do, if I have to do that on the day that I stream, it just adds to the anxiety. So I’m always trying to take steps out of my processes.
The way you can edit and post clips from your phone it’s just amazing. But hey maybe with an SD card it’s even faster.
