The reason I love this guy’s music so much isn’t because of how technical (which it is, it’s just not fast, it’s a deeper level) yet because he puts his soul into every song. When the music tempo leads to a solo you can literally see the beast within start to want out and Gary almost goes into a trance like state where all of his inner emotions are being payed out from his guitar. That’s the spiritual part of music. I feel that and if you’re not feeling the music then what’s the point. This guys seriously one of if no the best guitarist of this generation
Nothing technical about his playing. He’s a scale player. Don’t get me wrong, he’s good but not great. His vocal delivery is his greatest asset. Relies on effects way too much & dorks out a lot on the same note for too long when he takes a solo
@@stephenhanlin2388 you don’t understand his style. While metal-ish players focus on technical skills, this guys focusing on the feel the notes give. While yeah you’re right about his voice being a huge asset, his guitar is also adding onto that. Which in turn, is the basis of what the blues is. It’s all about the feel.
The blues isn't a marketable sound it's a true spirit that gives a voice to those who dont know any other way to Express pain but through sound. Its therapy ..Don't care if you disagree.... just listen
You are correct. Blues isn't marketable. Nobody is pushing that shit. Nobody can sell rock and roll these days. As much as it may be a bullshit argument, I'm holding on to Neil's faith and fortitude. Nothing can kill rock and roll. If one guy hears a tune and gets turned on, thats rock and roll.

Every day every might I can hear the train going down the tracks and sometimes it is almost quite for a minute and I can hear the highway , I think of another place I lived and there was lumber mill the saw blade all day all night and the trains . This is all that combined and the tracks or headed off in to outer space , I don't belong in this town anymore more than the last . I love the way they play how I feels .
w warn GCJ can make a guitar gently weeps Or can make it tell a story ....cry and sing .... you gotta be able to feel the music as it’s happening to be able to do that
Possibly, what he meant was that the tradition of blues music will be played by people such as, but not limited too, GC jr. I don't think Clapton means that HE is the future of blues music but maybe one person who will act in its behalf. PS. I hate Gary Clarks music and in no way or form do I think its representative of what modern blues sounds like
One evening when Gary Clark Jr was a teen he was with a girl and they were, of course, listening to some classic blues as they were sitting on the couch. Things started to heat up with some kissing and touching. The girl was getting into things as the guitar player started in on his solo. Her breathing was faster and she was squirming as Gary moved to second base. The guitar cried out as the girl started to make noises of her own. Gary rounded third and was about to slide into home base when.... The guitar solo ended and the mood was broken. The girl got self conscious and made an excuse to head home... the solo was too short. Gary swore in his heart that if he ever made it big he would NEVER let that happen to anyone listening to his music. And I want to say: Thank you Gary, thank you for giving us these long ass sweet love making solos that don't leave us blue balled.
I found Gary Clark Jr. by sheer accident. Saw a movie called Chef in which the characters stop their food truck in Texas and GCJ and band was playing at a restaurant/venue. I was stunned. Fantastic talent!

Andrew Gould Another thing, even if Dan or any other guitarrist hits a bad note, that doesn't "screw up" the solo, at all. And I hope you're not one of those noobs who thinks that because he plays the solo differently live than what is on the album, then he's ruining it. Like the acidic sound of that guitar. Great blues, Gary.
This goes hard! Such a simple rhythm guitar progression, but that is all he needs... the vocals take it from there! Great blues musician... so much of that old school influence with a modern songwriting twist. His vibrato is to die for...
the imagery of the train coming is unbelievably perfect at the end .WOW looks exactly like his dad.
