Surely you were not born when this supergroup ceased to exist, but this is the great thing about Zeppelin, your children and your grandchildren will continue to talk about them because it is the greatest rock band in history. Generation after generation we will continue to adore them.
THE BATTLE OF EVERMORE is aggressive, but in an acoustic way. No amplifiers, no drums, and this song is Zeppelin's only one featuring a guest duet singer, Sandy Denny. It's magnificent.
Don't let your anticipation of "more intense" disappoint you. It gets "more interesting" for sure. You're gonna get a bit of "trippy", a bit of "folksy", Stairway as the anthem, one that's "trippy" and bangin', and you've heard how they end with a bang with "When the Levee Breaks". Just enjoy the ride! It's all good...
The great master of boogie-woogie piano, is Ian Stewart who laid down the keys for this one. Ian Stewart worked extensively with The Rolling Stones and other groups of the period. He was a highly sought after force-multiplier in studio sessions! 💪🏻🎹👍🏻
LED ZEPPELIN, "ROCK &ROLL". I'M SO GLAD THAT YOUR GLASSES ARE OKAY. I KNOW THAT THEY DON'T PAY YOU ENOUGH TOO WEAR GLASSES ALL THE TIME. OR YOU WHEN YOUR SMILE SHOWS UP EVERY TIME YOU HEAR ROBERT'S VOICE OR JIMMY'S AWESOME GUITAR LICKS. EXCELLENT JOB OF REACTING, ROCK ON..
Haha!! That was an adorable comment!! Love it and I agree on all of it!! I haven't even watched this reaction yet, but as soon as I read the part about Biz's smile when he hears certain voices (like Robert's) or good instrumentation (like Jimmy on guitar), I knew exactly what you were talking about!! I love that smile of his.... it's infectious!! Gonna watch now!! Great comment!! ;)
QUICK QUESTION.... I KNOW SOME OTHER PEOPLE WHO TYPE IN ALL CAPS..... THEY'VE EXPLAINED THEY DO IT BECAUSE IT MAKES IT EASIER FOR THEM TO SEE WHAT THEY'RE TYPING..... IF THAT IS THE CASE FOR YOU AS WELL, THEN IF OR WHEN I SEE YOU AGAIN AND WANT TO REPLY TO YOU, I WILL DO SO IN CAPS! PEACE AND LIGHT TO YOU.... :)
You'd think this would be John Paul Jones on the keys since he usually did play them for the band, however, on this song, it's pianist Ian Stewart who was a co-founder of the Rolling Stones. He was removed due to a lineup change but would stay on to be the Stones' road manager and played keys for them.
@@joetspaulding Another song with him is on Physical Graffiti, Boogie With Stu. The song facts say: "Stu" Ian Stewart, the Rolling Stones road manager and piano player. The song was recorded when Led Zeppelin was set up in Headley Grange. They were using the Rolling Stones mobile recording unit and Stu stopped in. There was an old piano in the main room that was slightly out of tune. Stu was playing it and Jimmy Page was tuning his guitar to how the piano was out of tune. Tape was rolling and everything was pretty much improvised from Bonzo's drumming to the lyrics Plant was singing".
Kind of a fun fact...after led III not so great reception they returned to the studio for led IV. Robert wrote this one telling us all he's back to previous led 1 and 2. it's the opening track first song saying we are back to rock n roll and that album and song sure did!
I love how you try to keep your reactions "toned down" to preserve your "coolness", then LZ makes you totally lose it! Now you're just a fanboy like the rest of us, in love with Robert, in awe of Jimmy.
Led Zeppelin was the best rock group IMO. Second is a toss up between Rolling Stones and The Who (I think The Who). Only Led Zeppelin album I bought back in the day was Led Zeppelin IV because of the Mega hit, Stairway to Heaven. But I like this song on the album and When the Levee Breaks. As an aside, Stairway to Heaven was played so much and for so many years on radio that we got tired of hearing it. Even the band got tired of the song and stopped playing it in concert. But in the last few years, Jimmy Page (who wrote the music, Plant the lyrics for Stairway) says that Stairway was their masterpiece, the one song of theirs that will live as long as music is heard. That said, I've heard most of the music from other albums of LZ, just never bought them because I was more into the singer/songwriter music in the early to mid 70s (the Jackson Browne, Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, Gordon Lightfoot, Neil Young, James Taylor, Carole King, etc).
If I were stranded on an island & could only have one Led Zeppelin album it would be Physical Graffiti. Then 2, one then three & then Houses of the Holy, 4, then the last two albums.
Hey Biz love your reactions, it’s like listening to the songs for the first time again. The piano you hear toward the end of this song is Ian Stewart, who was a contributor with The Rolling Stones and was helping Zeppelin at the LZ4 sessions in Headley Grange, England. It’s a rarity that any guests played with the group, so this one’s a rare treat.
Part of the reason this rocks so hard, is that it doesn't feel as arranged and as planned out as something like "Kashmir" - It feels like they just plugged in and JAMMED, just let it rip.
JPJ on bass and keyboards in this song, and Bonzo's drumming, really make the song red hot. Jimmy and Robert are excellent as usual. Robert's spontaneous vocal versatility is great.
Haven't watched yet Biz. I'm a little late to the party on this one! lol!! Just wanted to say... YAY!! LOVE the Zeppelin journey and the fact you really seem to appreciate their musicianship and lyrics!! Can't wait to watch!! :)
Houses Of The Holy is my favorite, if it's even possible to choose. Battle Of Evermore is great. Let's "Bring The Balance Back" Mystical, Magical, perfect lead in to Stairway.
I wish you might consider playing the first four albums of Aerosmith the same way you are doing Zeppelin. You will really enjoy it. Please give it a consideration. Thanks Biz.
Gerhard, repent. Let Biz complete the Led Zeppelin journey before reviewing posers and other wanna-be groups. Joe Perry: very Good; everyone else in A-o_smith: forgettable.
@@williamjohnson2199 Playlist. Never said anything about not playing Zeppelin and you are entitled to your opinions but getting a little nasty, aren't we? Chill out man.
I know im getting ahead here. But eventually u're going to have to look into How the west was won. A bootleg of sorts from 3 shows they did in june of 72. Officially released the quality is top notch. U can also. I dont know if ure planning on doing stairway for this album reaction. I know youve heard the one from their 1973 tour. But giving a how the west was won version for this album reaction wouldnt be a bad idea.
Mothership is not their 4th album, it is a compilation album, released by Atlantic and covers many of their favorites. Having seen them several times from the beginning Each new album offered a new thrill so to pick one as the best is hard but I like Live so I will go with "How the West was Won"
@@princeofpcos9804 You are correct it is Led Zeppelin. the song you played Rock & Roll was a song from the fourth album but it was stated that the Mothership album was their fourth. which was not even released till many years later. Sort of a best of Album.
Physical Graffiti and LZ 3 are top favs for me but sometimes it's '' Houses of The Holy''' which will be your next album because it came out after LZ 4/ZOSO ..
Physical Graffiti is going to blow your fucking mind man.
Can’t wait for that!!
Love, Love, Love this song! John Bonham's drumming is just insane! He beats the shit out of those drums the whole damn song!
Surely you were not born when this supergroup ceased to exist, but this is the great thing about Zeppelin, your children and your grandchildren will continue to talk about them because it is the greatest rock band in history. Generation after generation we will continue to adore them.
This is THE song that started my Led Zeppelin obsession 50 years ago
RIGHT ON BROTHER.............ON POINT😎
THE BATTLE OF EVERMORE is aggressive, but in an acoustic way. No amplifiers, no drums, and this song is Zeppelin's only one featuring a guest duet singer, Sandy Denny.
It's magnificent.
Sandy denny has such a voice in that song

this song was perfect for their reunion in 07

John Bonham used the opening drum riff from Little Richard's "I hear you knockin but you can't come in."
Yes I do believe this my favorite Zeppelin album. It just rocks so hard!! ❤✌
Please do Led Zepplin HEY HEY WHAT CAN I DO.....Note it was only released on 45 RPM record, never on a LP.
YEP it was the B Side of Immigrant Song .
🎸💯🤯 Led Zeppelin kicks ass‼🔥🤟

HS I never knew that - very interesting to know. Preeesh!!
said it yesterday; i KNEW you would love this. Another epic track. This is my favourite Led Zepp album.
This is one of those forever jams
A perfect song.Epitomizes rock n roll….Hence, the title says it all.
the bassist John Paul Jones on keys. JPJ the secret GOAT.
No, it is ex Rolling Stone Ian Steward on piano.
@@marisaj2346 cool, interesting guest appearance, I only guessed because JPJ does play keys in most of their songs (that feature keyboard)

The very definition of a rock and roll song! This is my favorite of theirs! Loved your reaction.
I saw that you were doing a reaction to “Rock n Roll” and I got excited thinking it was the Velvet Underground 😂
Used to put this album on when it was time to clean the house (back in the 70s).

Excellent reaction my friend ~👌😉
That boogie-woogie piano is a guy called Ian Stewart who was the sometime pianist - and an original member - for the Rolling Stones.
I always loved JPJ's key work in this
"this" meaning LZ as a whole, and I agree! :D

He was referencing 1950s rock n roll in the lyrics(The stroll-by the Diamonds and Book of Love by the Monotones-both from 1958)
