    I reversed my pre-diabetes diagnosis is just three months, I went from 6.0 to 5.5. I just had to change my diet - I ate lots of whole grain rice, whole grain bread, eggs, fish and for a snack (peanuts) I cut out all the take-out food, cookies, coffee, juice and drank lots of water. And don't forget to exercise

    I recently had a blood test in India for employment in the gulf. The results showed the issue of liver. Some enzyme problem (SGPT 131 U/L) so I went to my doctor. He prescribed me medicines for the liver which will get normal in a week but he just spoke to me on that sugar level which was showing in the report so he said this is like a pre-diabetic, but take care about it, so as he mentioned that they didn’t highlight anything about my sugar level, but he suggested that just take care about it.
    I had gone for the blood test empty stomach in the morning so the result was 108 where it shows the normal range should be 60-100mg/dl
    I’m always exercising, no alcohol, but I guess these few days I’ve been having a lot of sweets, icecreams and all and never imagined I’ll have this problem. I’m very conscious about my health and I just want to reverse it and get normal. The sugar level and also my liver treatment which is in process.

    I am pre-diabetic. A1C 6.2, blood glucose 100. I am 71 years old. I get sufficient exercise, for example, about 7 hours of bicycling per week. I had a bad diet Pepsi addiction for decades, but I am not eating or drinking artificially sweetened things - that I know of. I do have a sweet tooth. The doctor has me on Metformin.
    1) What can be learned from a Continuous Glucose Monitor with respect to any further lifestyle changes that I make?
    2) What works to overcome a sweet tooth?
    3) What priorities to reduce? Ice Cream, chocolate candy, pasta?
    I am considering the course you offer. I have an ex-coworker with diabetes. He is managing it well and taking it very seriously. He tells me to do whatever it takes to keep from Diabetes.

      I would suggest replacing the sweets you noted with fruits and berries (natural whole food “sweets”). At least then you will be getting the fiber and nutrients from them as well.
      Then, you can focus on limiting the higher fructose fruits.
      The more you limit/eliminate sweets, the less you will crave them.
      And congrats on eliminating the sodas. If you find that you are still consuming sweetened drinks, consider making infused water. Add things like cucumber, mint, berries, lemon slices, etc. to a jug if water to keep in your fridge for something more interesting than plain water to drink.

      Those little liquid add in like stur are great.
      However, I think there is still made with Stevia extract or even milk fruit can’t remember but it’s a good way to start weaning off of sugary, diet, hopes, and stuff. Because you still get that fizz.

    Interesting that I live in a state in Mexico that produces the most guavas - if I'm not mistaken - in the world; and they have less "net" carbs than do blueberries (9g per 100g) ... I wonder if folks might be able to add them. They are oz for oz within 85% of potassium, and more of all the other (Ca, Vit. C, &c.) than even the great avocado, which is my favourite fruit.

      Thanks for your comment. I was recently diagnosed as Prediabetic and I'm doing all I can to reverse it. Your comment reminds me that I could be in the same position. I'm determined to reverse this, I have to be just as determined to not go back once I do reverse it! I've never done any type of drugs and never had any desire to but I tell ya, I never knew that a person can become addicted to sugar. I wouldn't want to offend anyone who has been addicted to drugs by comparing my being addicted to sugar, I can imagine that being addicted to drugs is far harder for the person and their family but man oh man, I am having a taste of being addicted to something (sugar) and it's no joke. Even with learning the huge risk of becoming a full blown diabetic if I keep the sugar addiction up, I still kept it up. I'm doing good now though and have to keep it up. No sugar, along with all the other stuff that is not good for diabetes.
      Get back in the game! You can do it!!!! 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾

      Thanks for watching and for your question! We are supporters of habit changes that fit your lifestyle and routine and don't typically recommend totally eliminating anything if you don't feel it's sustainable for you long term. We recommend eating mostly whole foods and saving some of the snacks you mentioned for special occasions or in moderation. Smaller portions are better but will still cause a larger insulin spike than other macronutrients like protein or fat. @@drmorgannolte a little update: i was able to lower my a1c from 6.1 to 5.6 in just a few months by cutting down a lot on sugar and white bread. for one example when i order a burger i throw away the bottom half of the bun and i now drink diet soda. i now lost over 20 pounds, from 150 to under 130 pounds. i used to put a ton of brown sugar every morning in my oatmeal for years, i now only add blueberries instead. i think that made the biggest difference.

    Hello Morgan, very good video. Good content. Just one important comment…..please do not refer to yourself as “Doctor Morgan Nolte”, a geriatric physical therapist. You are not a medical physician. More accurately, you can say that you are Morgan Nolte and hold a doctorate in physical therapy, specializing in geriatric physical therapy”. Medical doctors went to medical school, did 3-7 years of residency training after medical school, may have then completed a 1-3 year subspecialty fellowship, and then passed rigorous board exams. The public equates doctor to medical doctor, not a professional holding a doctorate degree in their specialty. No offense intended, just saying it’s best to properly use the title doctor as perceived by the public. Thank you.

  • @RubyZanUK
    @RubyZanUK Рік тому +2

    When you say 1.5 grams of protein, are we talking net "protein" or we talking weight? So if my total is 150g of protein, is that 150g of chicken breast, or 150g protein from 600grams of chicken breast?

    • @drmorgannolte
      @drmorgannolte  Рік тому +2

      Thanks for watching and great question! The protein content will vary by food. For example, 4 ounces of chicken has about 35 grams of protein, while 4 ounces of salmon has about 25 grams of protein. In your example, 150 grams of chicken breast has about 46 grams of protein, while 600 grams of chicken breast has 185 grams of protein. If he can have a tablespoon of raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar diluted in water before dinner, that would likely help reduce the blood sugar rise from the dates.
