I was diagnosed in November 2021 with a 14.5 A1c. It is now 5.9 without medication. I'm a type 2 diabetic. Lower carb, CGM, lifting weights and walking 10K-12K steps a day. Lifting weights was the game changer for me.
Props to you!! I cannot stress how important resistance training with weights is FOR ALL AGES. As you found out, it is a game changer. The large muscles in your body really soak up glucose, and we all need to maintain muscle mass as we age.
Hi! Thank you so much for sharing this. My father collected his pathology report last night, which indicates his HbA1c level is 11.22%. He's 65 and has had type 2 diabetes since 2013. His urine report indicates a 4+ level of glucose in his urine. He's been feeling lightheaded lately, and a couple of times we've had to hold him back from falling down. I'm extremely worried for him since we live in a remote village in Pakistan where good medical care is almost inaccessible to us. Could you please share some more details about how you successfully controlled your A1c? Do you think it would be possible without medication, given my father's age and A1c level? Your help would be highly appreciated! 💗
I struggled with blood sugar issues for years, feeling tired and off all the time. I tried different diets and treatments, but nothing worked. Then I found a simple solution that worked quickly! My energy leveled out, and I finally felt like myself again. I can’t post it here but it's on my channel
I went from 14.5 when diagnosed down to 6.1 in 6 months. Excited to see next results in 3 months. Eliminated sugar ( as much as possible) reduced carbs, got rid of white bread and pasta entirely. Supplements like berberine, R-ALA, bittermelon & Apple cider vinegar. Goal to be off any prescription meds.
@@sscheinfeldt2012 I've been using Naka platinum 500mg, will be switching to another brand I've seen that's 600mg going to get in bulk from boxing Day sales for 30% off. Going to also stock up on R-ALA at the same time. Need to take advantage of any sales we can.
I have been IF (8:00pm - Noon), taking ACV 🤢 and KETO WHEN I DO eat. For about 1 month I have been yoyoing THE SAME 5 lbs the whole time. BUT my BS went WAY DOWN. I have skipped MANY doses of metformin 😊
Thank you so much for all you do and help us. I tested 5.7 last week. In March I changed my diet, getting rid of most of the breads, pasta and watching my sugar intake. I have lost 30 lbs. and 4 inches around my waist. I have my A1c tested every 4 months. My triglyserides have always been at a great level. I am 74 years old and have noticed a huge change in my 70's. I have to watch everything a lot closer than when I was younger. I do walk 2-3 miles every morning. And lift free weights at least 4 days a week. Still working on that pesky A1c though.
I have read many books, I listened to many UA-cam videos by many of the world's leading gurus and health experts but nothing came close to the hidden herbs by anette ray. I recommend everyone giving it a read.
You always take the time to listen, explain, and ensure that your patients feel understood and cared for, not just as patients, but as people. Your honesty in communicating medical information, combined with your empathetic approach, builds a deep sense of trust and reassurance.
Good and simple video. I am 75 and despite family history i could avoid diabetes so far mostly using what you told in your video. My last A1C Was 6.3 . I have to work on a little bit more to bring it below 6. It is a bit difficult at my age but I will keep on trying to avoid medication. I dont drink alcohol or sugary drinks . I walk daily 7500 steps. I avoid lots of carb and bakery products. I try to do a complete fast once a week. I am not bragging about myself but just let the younger ones to follow similar ruite.
There is no shortage of advice on line regarding this matter but THIS is by far THE most credible information about Diabetes that is exponentially devouring the lives of people including children, that everyone MUST listen to save their lives!
This guy is so correct. I reversed my pre-diabetes in just 3 weeks. I started with fasting glucose 116 and after meal glucose 158 and down to 98 and 119. My trick was low carb diet and also 18:6 fasting. Avoid most of sugars but occasionally half slice of pan cake to reward myself every 2 weeks. I eat 2 meals in the 6-hour eating window, one meal with no carb at all and another with a little carb like 2 tablespoons of rice. No bread or noodles as those are the worst for the blood sugar, especially the whole wheat bread. They usually add more sugar in it to make it more appealing. I do eat a lot of veggies and proteins like steak and chicken. I don't do ketos because it can't be that healthy eating a lot of fats. I don't want to fall to another pit after escaping the previous one. I prefer eating a little of everything instead going to just a few so-called healthy foods. This will be my long-term diet now and I hope who ever read this can achieve the same.
Thank you vm. You have explained everything so simple, concerning diabetes control. Most doctors, just want to increase medication. You have educated me. Is 1 month now I have changed my diet. Plenty fruits, and vegetables, snacking nuts at midday. Dinner at 5.30. If I feel hungry, I will drink water. So far everything working good. I want my A1c to be reading 5 or 6. Thanks again. 😢
Christel thank you for all valuable information in your videos! You’ve helped me lower my A1c from 12.1 to 7.9 in a year. Also following a clean keto diet. Hoping to get my A1c under 6 in 2024.
August 8 - Jan 10, 2024: I've gone from A1C of 6.6 down to 5.8. Was on no meds although my Dr. wanted me to! My goal is to get to 5 which is the bottom end of normal (According to Diabetes Canada). I'm doing low carb; almost no sugar (except treats at Christmas/New Years) ; no alcohol; mostly plant based diet; 6-8 cups of water daily; intermittent fasting (8 hour eating window). 5.8 is in the at risk category but I could do a happy dance I'm so thrilled w the results!
Fabulous changes in your eating and lifestyle. I have also found that apple cider vinegar is VERY helpful and will block the absorption of carbohydrates in the gut. I made a special mixture so I don't taste the vinegar. Makes all the difference in the world.
My DR says don't worry about prediabetes... "If it goes HIGHER, I can always can get you some metformin" I lost 15 lbs. It did nothing. The only thing that moved me out of prediabetes was the carnivore diet, and time restricted eating. True story...
My A1 C was 6.1 before Christmas..it was 4 months ago.. A week ago I checked my A1c again - 5.1 What did I do? Completely reduced sugar, starch, white bread… Never gave up coffee in the morning.. Never gave up my favorite oats. I’m eating only grain oats, soaking in the water over night. Guess what : I’m eating bananas every morning with my oats. I’m buying them in the green stage, peel them, cutting into the pieces , and put into the freezer. Also I stated exercise 3 times a week with weights. Trying to walk at least 15-20 min after every meal. I lost 20 - 22 lb. If you have questions, please ask me.
Did you increase your protien and fats? Do you do deep breathing excerices? Do you take vitamins and minerals? What else did you change that you did not write here? Good for you geret changes in your health. I am asking because you suggested we ask and me being me... yes I want to know. 😊
To manage diabetes and lower A1C following hacks / Points are suggested - 1 . adopt low carb diet . carb upto 50 gms per day , Protein @1gm per kg body wt and healthy fats . 2 . Have 2 Meals/day - Lunch and early Dinner , No snacks inbetween , skip Breakfast . This way you will achieve 16/8 Intermittent Fasting . 3 . Make Dinner carnivore and light and have it early . 4 . Have one day in week a carnivore day . All the Best
Thank you! It inspired me, I feel frustrated because my sugars go all crazy between 12am and 7am while I'm sleeping. I will implement your tips tho I don't do snacking. Thank you for your video!
thank you very much..giving hope..being diabetic for 11 years..increased in medications and insulin..i hope this will work for me.. may Godbless you always 😊
I've learned more from you after the first of your videos I've seen and I'm 73 and had 4 Doctors that have done very little but prescribed pills then shots since I was 28. Certainly you are doing great my average has dropped from 230 and now 57 last few days. Also it's winter and I've done almost nothing but some time doing garage cleaning Big THANKS Lady
First, thanks for such and informative channel. I've been type one since 1998 and started with an A1C of over 13! :O after a very long journey, I'm now at 6.4. One of the things that drastically helped lower my A1C and simplify things in general was getting a pump, specifically an omnipod 5, cause I wasn't cool with tubing. I hope they don't care that mentioned them by name. My question to you that I'm sure you've answered before is why you've decided not to go with a pump and stay with MDI. If you have talked about it in a previous video, maybe you can point me to it. Thanks for all you do.
Thanks, and well done! Why I stick with pens over pump is a question I get often so I made this video: ua-cam.com/video/3dFRDTi4FvE/v-deo.htmlsi=Hebj5QbxNUDNM3Zg
Very good, my recent A1C was 6.0, I eat breakfast around 730, lunch around 1130 then small snacks like fruit or nut, around 230 then dinner around 530. I ride my bike around 630. I do a lot of walking in the morning and weekends. I work from home too so I get up every 30 min,I can’t sit too long lol. Great video.
I just got released from hospital where I'd undergone surgery. And boy has my A1c taken a hit. Last couple days in I started to produce ketones. Had to fight them for more insulin. Seems they are still back "regular" days with insulin only at meals. Had to refuse meals till within range. Otherwise I would be in even rougher shape. This is with 3 days fasting waiting for surgery. Seems my liver has gone into overdrive producing sugar and now my Dexcom /rapid ratio is 1:1 from 1:2.3. Thats my advice is to eat minimally until within range. If you can. So glad to be home.
Most Valuable Video Ever!! - In the future, it would be greatly appreciated if you could share the recipes for the dishes you're enjoying-they look absolutely fantastic!
End of August 2024 gluc 20.6mmol/l diagnosed DT2. One month later, with exogenous insulin gluc control, hba1c was 9.9%. Next month 7.4%. stopped using exogenous insulin. Next month 6.2%. Next month 5.8%. Lost 21kg in the process. Keto+Intermittent fasting 19-5. 12+ km of walking a day.
My hba1c used to be 5.7% now it's 6.23% I'm extremely close to becoming a diabetic being weary of my condition I avoid sugar, refined carbs, lost weight, exercise.I am already under tremendous depression, anxiety and eating very less amount of food per day that I've never ever eaten before in my life the reason being the concern of me becoming a type 2 diabetic very soon which is my worst nightmare which I never want to happen to me
You're most welcome🙏 I'm sharing an extremely important life saving information especially for those who are suffering low end prediabetes and high end prediabetes My age is 37 I've been prediabetic for a very long time it was 5.7% with an estimated average glucose of 114 mg/DL now most recently when I checked it was up to a concerning high 6.23% with an estimated average glucose level of 132.12 mg/DL if it reaches 137 mg/DL then it's a permanent life long type 2 diabetes so prediabetes should be taken very seriously by not letting the pancreas panic or overwhelm before completely collapsing by eating too many calories too frequently especially high glycemic food So everyone with prediabetes both at low end range and high end range follow these steps to reverse hba1c save yourselves from becoming permanently type 2 diabetics When someone's hba1c reaches high end range like 6% and above they'll notice frequent urination especially at night that'll disrupt sleep, there will be severe hair fall, there will be loss of bodyweight, there will be extreme inching in the genital region, people will also go through severe depression, anxiety, start having extremely low amount of calories because of fear of their condition worsening to diabetes soon!! Sugar is a sweet toxin it completely destroys the body from head to toe especially when blood sugars are out of control due to frequent reckless high glycemic food consumption Type 1 diabetes is considered worse than type 2 because it is an autoimmune disease, so there isn't a cure. Also, in a 2010 report from the UK, it's estimated that the life expectancy of people with type 2 diabetes can be reduced by up to 10 years, while type 1 can reduce life expectancy by 20 years or more, diabetes complications is much worse in women compared to men Lose body weight as soon as possible maintain ideal body weight and BMI because visceral fat is major cause of diabetes and other major health problems losing body weight is very easy by following 18-6 intermittent fasting and with weight training Men should keep checking total testosterone levels there is a relationship between low testosterone and increased risk of type 2 diabetes so maintaining healthy testosterone level according to the age is extremely necessary Avoid smoking, drinking, taking drugs all these are factors that increase the risk of type 2 diabetes a lot instead follow a healthy diet and busy lifestyle Have breakfast, lunch, dinner with gaps for example there should be 4 hours to 6 hours gap between breakfast, lunch and dinner plz make sure to have dinner before 6 p.m instead of having later in the evening Build muscle because muscles metabolise glucose greatly and also they prevent cancer. If someone unfortunately already has cancer by building muscles they can increase their survival rate. I recommend supplements like For muscle gain and preventing muscle loss increase muscle protein synthesis induced anabolism helps prevent sarcopenia and dynapenia: creatine monohydrate, hmb,l luceine, whey protein, omega 3,magnesium glycinate, zinc, testofen,Boron Natural herbs to increase testosterone: Tongkat ali,Fadogia agrestis, mucuna pruriens, safed musli,Maca, Hygrophila auriculata,Shilajit Natural food such as: oysters, garlic, pomegranate, ginger, fatty fish, healthy fats (olive oil/ coconut oil/ avocado oil/ etc),onion, beets, leafy greens (spinach/ kale/ broccoli/ etc),eggs, fruit (berries/ etc),cocoa powder steak, chicken, lentils, panner, tofu, ghee, spirulina It is said that muscle loss starts at the age of 30 and keeps progressing with age but great news is it is reversible at any age with proper nutrition, exercise especially weight training, resistance training also remember building a muscular body before 40 will help lead a healthy long life post 40 unfortunately most of the time people neglect and damage their bodies before 40 and suffer it's adverse consequences post 40 Avoid all types of sugar both processed or natural but if consumed don't consume more than 36 grams per day Drink atleast 2 litres of water maximum up to 3 litres because water helps to regulate blood glucose levels Always eat in an order of fiber first, protein second and carbs last Eat adequate amount of protein in a day is extremely important atleast 0.8 g grams upto 1 gram Beware of not to consume maltodextrin because it has the highest glycemic index more than sugar it will shoot insulin levels miserably Stress, anger contribute to elevated glucose and other unnecessary hormones so try to avoid getting stressed or angry Keep total carbs per day 130 grams or below avoid refined carbs consume complex carbs Walk immediately after a meal because the cells are like sponges that soak up blood glucose but if someone doesn't walk then insulin spikes to reduce the blood glucose which if happens frequently causes insulin resistance and diabetes Take two table spoons of acv before meals which helps to prevent glucose raise Take suppliments like berberine, gymnema sylvestre, bitter melon,Probiotics all of these help to lower blood glucose Sleep is very important because those who don't sleep for 7 to 8 hours are five times at risk of developing diabetes Wear a cgm it will keep tracking the blood glucose throughout the day making us aware of it's levels I'm strictly following these because of which I'm seeing great improvement

I am happy for you. It is so good to see someone who so selflessly shares with others achieve success. Sorry about your injury. I know how much fun it is not when one needs to go to an alternate routine. Years ago, when I was still fool enough to run marathons for fun(?), I managed to twist some tarsal bones in my left foot during a running of the St. George Marathon. When the pain did not subside after a few days, I saw the only podiatrist that the runners in my area trusted, (he was also a runner). Xrays showed the tarsal bones out of alignment. It hurt like hell, but he said there was low likelihood of further damage. Just quit running for a while. No such luck, had signed up for the Long Beach Marathon that was not that far off. Needed to go to a routine that did not force me to land on my foot, but still kept the cardio and muscles going. Did a lot of stationary bike work at the gym. Also took copious amounts of Ibuprofen to reduce inflammation. It all worked out and I was able to complete the Long Beach Marathon. Love your videos. Hope all is well with you.
It's the education and knowledge that is not passed on by the doctor, I've learnt more from the Internet but who do you believe. Am going to try a blood glucose monitor and see how that goes.
Very good idea. I have been using one about two months. I have made some changes and now have it in a good range. I walk after every meal about 1-2 miles…. And I monitor the spike. I don’t like it to get over 130 if possible. I never eat naked carbs any more. I always eat them with fat/protein/ or fiber, and in smaller quantities. I only eat when hungry. I exercise every day. If I have a high carb meal, I will take an apple cider vinegar tab or use a straw and drink 1 tb apple cider vinegar / or use lemon juice before my meal. I never eat sugary foods…. Except some low GI fruits.
I injured my both of my ACLs back in 2015 and no doctor could help me expect to say " It was due to the amount of Inflammation in my body !" it took me three years to dicover the correct food to eat . It was very immportant to discover that the ingredients in 80 % of all packaged foods that contributed to that inflammation ! That said , I discovered that I was Omega 3 fatty acid deficient and in those food items which I set out to correct. When I take my Vitamin D3 with K capsule I take a Tbsp of Carlson's Norwegein Very Finest Fish oil blend with it ! I also cut OUT 80 % of the packaged foods like frozen foods. If I eat Ice cream it is Hagan Das strawberry or vanilla as they have the fewest ingredients which are safe. Check your Vitamin D levels and be sure they are are in a good range and not on the borderline. Lastly , i cut out all Amrican processed oils especially Canola and Soybean which cause infammation in my body immediately after eating items with these oils. They are " preservative oils that save the companies money because they artifically extend the shelf life of packaged item. They will destroy your ACLs. So I stick to made by nature animal fats , fish and that fish oil I mentioned above and I have to avoid US Cheese and dairy because it is just not as healthy as the aged European cheeses. Also they leas less cheese on Europe because it is so well prepared it is easier for the body to digest.Whereas cheese in USA is called Overnight cheese as it is artifically made overnight in the factory. Not aged for 4 - 18 months. Thank you for sharing your journey !
Hello Christel, I just discovered your channel. I am type 2 diabetic my last a1c was 6.6. I am waiting for new blood work next month. I am not insulin dependent, but I want to lower it more. So your vedio was alot of help. Please keep posting. God bless you.
I'm looking for causes of sudden sleepiness (aside from very short night time sleeps). My A1c in 2021 was 5.3% but then I suddenly put on 30lbs in the pandemic. I'm due for another A1c. I started measuring daily BS and got 114 at bed last night, 99 waking, ate raisin bran with milk and then got 67 waking from a 2nd sleep which seems a bit weird unless the pancreas kicked in and drove it down wile sleeping. Your focus on BS variation gave me some helpful ideas. But it will be hard to monitor variation with just a few finger prick tests. 'Will have to decide if a continuous monitor for a while is worth the cost to find out what's up. I see they're available for weight loss programs online.
First, I’d like to say thank you so much for sharing your journey!!We have so many similarities. I was diagnosed at age 47 with And on an insulin pump. I’m on the Dexcom. I’m currently trying to lower my A1c from an 8 to a , I love to work out and drink coffee! I take it with the same collagen as you do I believe I need to bolus for the protein like you were stating!! I followed your super easy guide on how to extend the Dexcom how to change the Dexcom and all your other videos were extremely helpful, !!thank you so much🎉❤😊
I have to be honest. I didn’t care, didn’t test even when I was told my A1C was extremely high. 10/21 I had a mini stroke with BO at 200. Still didn’t care. My surgery was cancelled for female issues until I lowered my A1C. It’s long overdue. God got my attention. Your videos are encouraging, very doable steps to reach my goal. My endocrinologist was’nt much help but being honest, I was non compliant. I have to be between 150-200 for 7 days in row & can reschedule surgery. Last nine days my blood sugar average 211. I want to get down to a better range. I sooo appreciate steps your videos provide that I can try. I don’t understand all things you talk about but I’m trying. Funny thing…I bought nuts yesterday to replace my sugar fix on candy. Also, what I find extremely hard is that I’ve been an “emotional eater”. Any tips to help with that? Many thanks 🙏 for helping this drop out become a successful Diabetes Strong!
Thank you, I'm glad my videos are helpful. I'm glad your mindset is shifting, that is the first step to making meaningful changes. Emotional eating can be a challenging habit to change. Depending on the severity you might have to talk to a mental health specialist. I find that it's helpful to reflect on my feelings. It's okay to be sad sometimes and rather than try to close down that feeling with food I try to "sit with it" and then look for a path forward
Oh... I just noticed every time i eat something high in fat my blood sugar skyrocket. It did not make any sense to me and I thought I was crazy and kept trying to find another explanation. I guess keto is not for me too. Thanks for this video!
My A1C 3 months ago was 5.6 and i wanted to get it down. I've been doing CrossFit for years so I've got exercise down but i also cut out alcohol completely and stopped snacking at night. I already don't eat processed foods, no sodas etc ,and ugh my bloodwork still showed 5.6, 3 months later. Super frustrating!
@natashamcdaniel2846 got it. For anyone in your situation, I think it might be good getting a c-peptide and antibody test, just to rule out things that are out of your control
Thank you for these tips I will begin to implement these and see where it takes me. How often do you recommend looking at your reports to see trends and patterns? I'm not in the habit yet of doing this on my computer but I do look at the ones on my phone app. I believe that information is power and so I thank you for generously sharing your knowledge with me.
Congrats! I was over 10 when diagnosed LADA 4 years ago but have been 5.7/5.8 since April 2022. I don’t snack a lot and have no sweet tooth so I credit my CGM with helping me keep my readings low. I also see the CGM GMI overestimates. Mine usually says 6.2/6.3. My TIR is 96% (steady) and standard deviation is 24 on the CGM.
Great info Christel . I have problems with my blood sugar dropping while exercising. I usually put my tandem pump on temp basal and half the basal rate. What is your BS when you start your exercise routine ?
Thanks. My situation is a little different as I use insulin pens and long-acting insulin doesn't get hypercharged like rapid-acting insulin when exercising. So I only have to adjust my rapid-acting insulin. If I'm doing cardio I (depending on the type) dial back my dose for the last meal before exercise. My starting blood sugar is less relevant than my insulin onboard. For example, if I'm fasting, so only have long-acting in my system, I don't drop and can exercise with a blood sugar of 100 mg/dl. If you have issues with going low, you could try experimenting with reducing your basal up to 2 hours before. I have a way more detailed video on how to adjust (for pumps as well) here: ua-cam.com/video/6qZu7knO1pE/v-deo.htmlsi=FIrDckUAmYgQwD2Q
Sounds like what you did worked. I guess Im pre-diabetic. Back in Aug. Dr. visit had my glucose at 124 yet my A1C at 6.4. Since then changed my lifestyle went on keto have lost about 30 lbs and do a lot of walking. Ive watched tons of vids on the subject some helped some did not. The one on eating a high fiber drink before meal failed for me.. I still eat fiber with meals but find that a brisk walk after meal does more than anything. I did a test on another you tuber showing 5 bs tests in one day and it avg to 5.5 A1C , I know it was just for that day., but Im hoping my next dr visit will have me below 6.0 on the lab results.
CKD patients need more guidance on how to best follow a whole plant based diet. We need charts that list each food with its protein content per half a cup portion in order to figure out what foods and how much of it we can put on our plates at each meal in order not to go over the daily limit. We are told to restrict our protein intake to a certain daily amount based on body weight but I have not been able to find a standardized chart that tells me at a glance the protein content for each food so I can plan my meals accordingly. We shouldn’t have to be guessing every time we fix our plates. The same goes for phosphorus, potassium, sodium and fat content. This should be the most basic resource that a CKD patient should have available at the PCP and nephrologist’s office, at the National Kidney Foundation etc. If you know if such a chart exists please let your viewers know, I and most of us would certainly buy it immediately. Thank you.
You can find different CGMs available online depending on the county you’re in. In the US all but the biosensors require a prescription. SIBIONICS seems to be one of the sensors that are most easily accessible online. You can find my review here: ua-cam.com/video/NeLIX2EMnBM/v-deo.htmlsi=qZt6mr1wh_qoSwFH
Again , very informative channel ty. Also reading comments, you have a good group of people here. I can say I'm proud to be apart of now. This journey sure is a roller coaster but together we are stronger . Happy New Year, 2024 now.🎉🎉
@@DiabetesStrong I’m going to attempt going to see a gp next week as I’ve so may new symptoms, it’s hard enough getting an appointment these days without being told your fine with out checking,
Edema can be an internal infection, which can be treated with a short course of antibiotics. I had that once and it went away. I haven't had any swelling since.
It depends, and I'll generally drink more if it's warm or if I work out. But I generally go through 2-3 (950 ml) water bottles a day plus a few cups of tea/coffee
PS just a suggestion. When you got to the part where you said "And those were the 5 things I did to lower my HgA1C" I had already forgotten what the first 4 were. Maybe a summary at that point, really brief, but 1, 2, 3, 4, and of course 5. Thanks
I know it’s such a bummer. I haven’t decided yet. So far I’ve stockpiled so I have enough to last me through the summer. Maybe I’ll give Tresiba another go. I’ll discuss options with my endo next month
Oh GOODNESS! Achilles injuries are THEE WORST! Sadly, you don’t even have to do anything over exerting to strain or tear it. I’ve had a strain twice, VERY painful, so hoping you’re taking good care…
I have type 2. Dr Was talking about metformin. Nope. Went keto. Still drink some( too much) lost 20lbs and A12 down to 6.0 I even still get a pizza like every other weekend or so.
Congratulations Christel! Always great to hear. I also scored HbA1C of 5.7% last month as a Type 1 for 32 years. (I also scored 5.4% in February and 5.5% in August) I ran 6.7% average for my first 20 years (without the better insulins and without CGM). I've had a CGM for five years and have run 6.2% average since then. I also did something that helped a lot (as a 62 year old, now) I went on testosterone replacement therapy and noticed a remarkable improvement in my blood sugar control in the last 5 years on the TRT. as a male. My Time in Range has been running 70 to 75%. In August, my eye retinal screen also showed zero diabetic retinopathy after all these decades. I wrote comments a year ago about Afrezza not really working well for me when I started it, but I doubled down and now love it. And most of that was inspired by you. And you videos on that. Thanks. I do mostly intermittent fasting, skipping breakfast and eating very low carbs. When I'm usually drifting up mid-day, the Afrezza helps bring down quickly without overshooting. Of course, now that I love Afrezza, my insurance denied coverage because they stated they won't cover it because they are also covering Humalog and they won't cover both. LOL, what a crock of sh*t! I got a good appeal plan, though... I don't exercise at all. Plan on doing it as I had all my life, mostly resistance training. I'm also pretty insulin resistant, but time well to get larger amounts of insulin to carb ratio to work well. Cheers!!!
I've seen that metformin causes a reduction in testosterone. Between that & noticeable muscle loss in legs & arms I've also been using this to try counter acting.
Awesome, thank you for sharing. My insurance doesn’t cover Aftezza 🙄 There’s a self-pay option. You’ll have to call Aftezza directly and they’ll help you start the process. Through their pharmacy, I pay $99 for a prescription
Thanks for the video. What is the reason of blood sugar increase 3 hours later than lunch? It is happening since 2 days. The first 3 hours are perfect, then increases up to 230.
Could be a few different things. Some foods will get digested slowly. Some people digest more slowly. If you inject insulin, the 3-hour mark could indicate when you’ve metabolized the insulin and need to do a new injection
You'll still need a prescription but it's self-pay. This summer, new OTC CGMs will be available in the US that do not require a prescription (but still self-pay). Dexcom Stelo is announced to launch in August and Freestyle Libre Rio should also come soon. You'd have to keep an eye on them online to see when they become available
So, did the cgm actually lower you glucose? Mine isn't. It is more of an annoyance. That and the ozempic is messing up my numbers, making more swings wider. I give up.
In itself, no, but it has been a great tool allowing me to reach the glucose goals I’d set for myself. It takes a bit to get the hang of how to use a CGM accurately but I wouldn’t be without it. That being said we’re all different and maybe it’s not the right tool for you. And I think there can be power in that realization. You’ve tried it and maybe now it’s time to try something else
Can you please tell us how many times per week you typically go below 70 and how far below you go? I was diagnosed with LADA 15 years ago and for many years my A1c were in the 5s. In the last few years since getting Dexcom, my A1c has actually increased well into the 6s (~6.5). I attribute this to fear of lows due to some rare but scary ones I’ve had and with CGM I prevent lows way more than I used to but at the expense of higher numbers.
I can't tell you the exact number but the Clarity report shows below 6% of the time during the 30-days. So I don't have a lot of low blood sugars. Fear of lows can contribute to higher overall blood sugars. A few experts dive into this, and someone like diabetes psychologist Mark Heyman is a great resource. We chatted about diabetes and mental health here on the channel about a year ago ua-cam.com/video/f0QNhWOmZyM/v-deo.htmlsi=nqlobEeT35lIv4qE
Thanks so much for responding. I will check that out. It’s surprising I went so many years without fear of lows and this much later after being diagnosed I am suddenly terrified of lows.
According to American Diabetic Association 's recent (2024) guidelines for an average patient the target of glycemic control is: HbA1c should be less than 7 , Fasting blood sugar in the range of 80-130 mg/dl,Post Prandial blood sugar below 180 mg/dl.Lowering target may be suicidal especially when you have chances of hypoglycemia.Further anxiety for hypoglycemia will increase your blood sugar level.Blessed be.
I was diagnosed in November 2021 with a 14.5 A1c. It is now 5.9 without medication. I'm a type 2 diabetic. Lower carb, CGM, lifting weights and walking 10K-12K steps a day. Lifting weights was the game changer for me.
Awesome. Well done

Congrats on your a1c,my doctor canceled my upcoming surgery Monday because my a1c was 9,please give me some advice
Very good results my sister i need to do the same for i would like my Alc to be inthe range of 6.5 so am amaing for that in the nect 2months.
You're not talking about being off insulin correct?
Which brand of berberine do you use

I recommend everyone giving it a read.
read it a few days ago, truly a great book

I need to lower my A1C. Thank you for these tips!
Quite straight to the point. Keep it up
Thank you vm. 😢
You're welcome. And congrats on working on your health, that's great
Thank you I love your program 👍
Christel thank you for all valuable information in your videos! You’ve helped me lower my A1c from 12.1 to 7.9 in a year. Also following a clean keto diet. Hoping to get my A1c under 6 in 2024.

My doctor suggested similar steps, but seeing your results motivates me even more
That's great!
Congrats, well done

Similar story here. 7.1 down to 5.7 in about 7 months. Low carb/restricted time eating (IF.)

Completely reduced sugar, starch, white bread…

Never gave up my favorite oats. I’m eating only grain oats, soaking in the water over night.
Guess what : I’m eating bananas every morning with my oats.
I’m buying them in the green stage, peel them, cutting into the pieces , and put into the freezer.
Also I stated exercise 3 times a week with weights.
Trying to walk at least 15-20 min after every meal.
I lost 20 - 22 lb.

First, thanks for such and informative channel. I've been type one since 1998 and started with an A1C of over 13! :O
after a very long journey, I'm now at 6.4.

I do a lot of walking in the morning and weekends. I work from home too so I get up every 30 min,I can’t sit too long lol. Great video.
Did u lower a1c
I’m so sorry that happened to you

You're most welcome🙏
I'm sharing an extremely important life saving information especially for those who are suffering low end prediabetes and high end prediabetes
My age is 37 I've been prediabetic for a very long time it was 5.7% with an estimated average glucose of 114 mg/DL now most recently when I checked it was up to a concerning high 6.23% with an estimated average glucose level of 132.12 mg/DL if it reaches 137 mg/DL then it's a permanent life long type 2 diabetes so prediabetes should be taken very seriously by not letting the pancreas panic or overwhelm before completely collapsing by eating too many calories too frequently especially high glycemic food
So everyone with prediabetes both at low end range and high end range follow these steps to reverse hba1c save yourselves from becoming permanently type 2 diabetics
When someone's hba1c reaches high end range like 6% and above they'll notice frequent urination especially at night that'll disrupt sleep, there will be severe hair fall, there will be loss of bodyweight, there will be extreme inching in the genital region, people will also go through severe depression, anxiety, start having extremely low amount of calories because of fear of their condition worsening to diabetes soon!! Sugar is a sweet toxin it completely destroys the body from head to toe especially when blood sugars are out of control due to frequent reckless high glycemic food consumption
Type 1 diabetes is considered worse than type 2 because it is an autoimmune disease, so there isn't a cure. Also, in a 2010 report from the UK, it's estimated that the life expectancy of people with type 2 diabetes can be reduced by up to 10 years, while type 1 can reduce life expectancy by 20 years or more, diabetes complications is much worse in women compared to men
Lose body weight as soon as possible maintain ideal body weight and BMI because visceral fat is major cause of diabetes and other major health problems losing body weight is very easy by following 18-6 intermittent fasting and with weight training
Men should keep checking total testosterone levels there is a relationship between low testosterone and increased risk of type 2 diabetes so maintaining healthy testosterone level according to the age is extremely necessary
Avoid smoking, drinking, taking drugs all these are factors that increase the risk of type 2 diabetes a lot instead follow a healthy diet and busy lifestyle
Have breakfast, lunch, dinner with gaps for example there should be 4 hours to 6 hours gap between breakfast, lunch and dinner plz make sure to have dinner before 6 p.m instead of having later in the evening
Build muscle because muscles metabolise glucose greatly and also they prevent cancer. If someone unfortunately already has cancer by building muscles they can increase their survival rate. I recommend supplements like
For muscle gain and preventing muscle loss increase muscle protein synthesis induced anabolism helps prevent sarcopenia and dynapenia:
creatine monohydrate,hmb,l luceine,whey protein, omega 3,magnesium glycinate,zinc,testofen,Boron
Natural herbs to increase testosterone:
Tongkat ali,Fadogia agrestis,mucuna pruriens, safed musli,Maca, Hygrophila auriculata,Shilajit
Natural food such as:
oysters,garlic,pomegranate,ginger, fatty fish,healthy fats (olive oil/ coconut oil/ avocado oil/ etc),onion,beets,leafy greens (spinach/ kale/ broccoli/ etc),eggs, fruit (berries/ etc),cocoa powder
steak,chicken,lentils,panner,tofu,ghee,spirulina
It is said that muscle loss starts at the age of 30 and keeps progressing with age but great news is it is reversible at any age with proper nutrition, exercise especially weight training, resistance training also remember building a muscular body before 40 will help lead a healthy long life post 40 unfortunately most of the time people neglect and damage their bodies before 40 and suffer it's adverse consequences post 40
Avoid all types of sugar both processed or natural but if consumed don't consume more than 36 grams per day
Drink atleast 2 litres of water maximum up to 3 litres because water helps to regulate blood glucose levels
Always eat in an order of fiber first, protein second and carbs last
Eat adequate amount of protein in a day is extremely important atleast 0.8 g grams upto 1 gram
Beware of not to consume maltodextrin because it has the highest glycemic index more than sugar it will shoot insulin levels miserably
Stress, anger contribute to elevated glucose and other unnecessary hormones so try to avoid getting stressed or angry
Keep total carbs per day 130 grams or below avoid refined carbs consume complex carbs
Walk immediately after a meal because the cells are like sponges that soak up blood glucose but if someone doesn't walk then insulin spikes to reduce the blood glucose which if happens frequently causes insulin resistance and diabetes
Take two table spoons of acv before meals which helps to prevent glucose raise
Take suppliments like berberine, gymnema sylvestre, bitter melon,Probiotics all of these help to lower blood glucose
Sleep is very important because those who don't sleep for 7 to 8 hours are five times at risk of developing diabetes
Wear a cgm it will keep tracking the blood glucose throughout the day making us aware of it's levels
I'm strictly following these because of which I'm seeing great improvement

Thank you for this video. I need to cut out night time snacking
Except some low GI fruits.
i learned more from internet than all 3 doctors
I been watching you for a while this the best I saw your A1C 💪🏾
Thank you for watching. It has been that low once before but that was due to too many lows 😑
I am finding I have to walk a mile or two to stop a spike. If I eat 2-3 meals a day, that is at least 3-6 miles a day. I walk after each meal.
Thanks
Thank you
Awesome and great ,practical advice
Thank you for your encouragement
Hello Christel, I just discovered your channel. I am type 2 diabetic my last a1c was 6.6. I am waiting for new blood work next month. I am not insulin dependent, but I want to lower it more. So your vedio was alot of help. Please keep posting. God bless you.
Thank you for watching. I'm glad you found it helpful
The OTC biosensors are $89-$99 a month. It’s a new option for those who don’t have insurance coverage
I followed your super easy guide on how to extend the Dexcom how to change the Dexcom and all your other videos were extremely helpful, !!thank you so much🎉❤😊
👏🏽 awesome. You can do it.
Thank you for watching and I’m glad my content helps
@@vishnureddy34 I cut down from 5 cups to 2! And intermittent fasting. It worked. My A1c went to 7.8👍🏻
I have to be honest.
I experience the same thing
My A1C 3 months ago was 5.6 and i wanted to get it down. I've been doing CrossFit for years so I've got exercise down but i also cut out alcohol completely and stopped snacking at night. I already don't eat processed foods, no sodas etc ,and ugh my bloodwork still showed 5.6, 3 months later. Super frustrating!
If you're on insulin you might have to adjust that as well. For me, it was a question of adjusting it down to prevent too many rebound highs
@@DiabetesStrong oh I'm not diabetic at all and not on insulin. I just see I'm at the very edge of being pre diabetic and trying to get my A1c down.
I look over my reports once a week. If you use Dexcom you can set it up so that they automatically send you a report every week
I still have to put stevia in my chia pudding...but otherwise have stopped my sugar chocalate treats.😊
Great video, and very realistic and doable, thanks
You're welcome! Thank you for watching
What was your C-PEPTIDE level when you were diagnosed LADA?
@@mithidas4295 The value was 3.1
Awesome!

Great video!
Great post! Congrats!
Thanks!
Sounds like you're making great progress. I hope you'll see the impact in your next lab test
Eliminating evening snacks was my key too , unfortunately not always able to do
CKD patients need more guidance on how to best follow a whole plant based diet. Thank you.
Can we buy that glucose monitor online?
You can find different CGMs available online depending on the county you’re in. In the US all but the biosensors require a prescription.
SIBIONICS seems to be one of the sensors that are most easily accessible online. You can find my review here: ua-cam.com/video/NeLIX2EMnBM/v-deo.htmlsi=qZt6mr1wh_qoSwFH
Cut back on late night snacking, reduce alcohol consumption, take walks, do resistance training
Again , very informative channel ty. Also reading comments, you have a good group of people here. I can say I'm proud to be apart of now. This journey sure is a roller coaster but together we are stronger . Happy New Year, 2024 now.🎉🎉
Happy New Year, and thank you for continuing to tune in
Thank you for your time to share ❤
My A1c was 38 2 years ago and wasn’t told and now on the finger prick test it’s been 9.9 I’ve got a few symptoms of diabetes but my drs say it’s fine
If your blood sugars are running high and your doctor isn’t listening to you, if you can, it might be a good idea to get a second opinion
I haven't had any swelling since.
well done explanation!
Good info thanks and cute dog in the background on the floor!
Thank you 🙂🐶
from 10.2 to 5.5 in just under 3 months. keto & intermittent fasting.
Not snacking between meals will improve insulin sensitivity.

that I dont maintain a phone reader because it was going off all night waking me up, so now Im stuck with just the G7
Thank you! Have 1 question. How much water do you drink daily during your routines ?
It depends, and I'll generally drink more if it's warm or if I work out. But I generally go through 2-3 (950 ml) water bottles a day plus a few cups of tea/coffee
@@DiabetesStrong thank you !
Great video, it helps me to try harder.
PS just a suggestion. When you got to the part where you said "And those were the 5 things I did to lower my HgA1C" I had already forgotten what the first 4 were. Maybe a summary at that point, really brief, but 1, 2, 3, 4, and of course 5. Thanks
Noted 🙂 thank you for watching
Hi 😁am type 1 using Levemir/ Novolog. What are you doing as levemir is being discontinued by the end of the year 😮
I know it’s such a bummer. I haven’t decided yet. So far I’ve stockpiled so I have enough to last me through the summer. Maybe I’ll give Tresiba another go. I’ll discuss options with my endo next month
Average deviation is not a report I see with my Libre freestyle 3 cgm. Is there a way to calculate that ?
Oh GOODNESS! Achilles injuries are THEE WORST! Sadly, you don’t even have to do anything over exerting to strain or tear it. I’ve had a strain twice, VERY painful, so hoping you’re taking good care…
I have my serious doubts about dropping a1c levels in 1 month because blood test get average for 3 months.
What is snacking actually? We have 3 meals a day. In between we have a yoghourt or one fruit.
Excellent advice ..thank you .
I have type 2. Dr Was talking about metformin. Nope. Went keto. Still drink some( too much) lost 20lbs and A12 down to 6.0 I even still get a pizza like every other weekend or so.
Hi! Just to clarify, After you were diagnosed you never took any medication for it? And went on keto diet instead? Thanks 🙏
Congratulations Christel!
Always great to hear.
I also scored HbA1C of 5.7% last month as a Type 1 for 32 years. (I also scored 5.4% in February and 5.5% in August)
I ran 6.7% average for my first 20 years (without the better insulins and without CGM).
Cheers!!!
Ironically my insurance company is dropping Humalog and Novolog. Congrats on your numbers.
Hello: How many hours between your breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Time frame for your snacks?
I don't have a set schedule
Thanks for the video. What is the reason of blood sugar increase 3 hours later than lunch? It is happening since 2 days. The first 3 hours are perfect, then increases up to 230.
Could be a few different things.
Some foods will get digested slowly. Some people digest more slowly.
If you inject insulin, the 3-hour mark could indicate when you’ve metabolized the insulin and need to do a new injection
Thanks for the reminders...
My pleasure!
Where can you get a CGM? Without insurance? Since I’m type 2 and DONT take insulin, they won’t approve me 😢. I REALLY think it would
Help me.
@@DiabetesStrongthank you so much. Will do! 😊
What are you using to generate the graph of your levels?
I use a Dexcom CGM (ua-cam.com/video/Du_Q8gJME4k/v-deo.htmlsi=sHkwpFRHPAz0ql4S)
So, did the cgm actually lower you glucose? Mine isn't. It is more of an annoyance. That and the ozempic is messing up my numbers, making more swings wider. I give up.
In itself, no, but it has been a great tool allowing me to reach the glucose goals I’d set for myself. It takes a bit to get the hang of how to use a CGM accurately but I wouldn’t be without it. That being said we’re all different and maybe it’s not the right tool for you. And I think there can be power in that realization. You’ve tried it and maybe now it’s time to try something else
@@DiabetesStrong i think i need a bit of advice or instruction on how to analyze the data i am collecting. My sd is 37 for the past two weeks.
@@pM-sh4epit might be a reaction to one scary low. I get it, lows can do that
