I wish everyone who has a UA-cam food channel would watch #AllRecipesGerman and learn how to educate and give options when creating recipes. The first thing I thought when this video started was, "this would be much better with a vanilla pudding or pastry cream" and seconds later that is mentioned. Thank you for the lovely recipe that all viewers can build upon and customize to their local.
If making for the next day my grandmother used to get some plain sweet biscuits and layer that first so the fruit wouldn't make the cake base soggy. We always use custard as the base. Then the fruit and then the glaze. I use drained tinned fruit and use the syrup to make glaze. So yummy. I used to buy the ready made base but you can't buy it here any more so I'm glad to have found this recipe. Thank you for posting.
I was lucky to have delicious German cakes at birthday party in Berlin. Lucky me, I was able to many samples. My question is why can't the US have such wonderful cakes!!
