I am so glad to find this recipe! I’m American and my German husband (from Hamburg) has asked for this repeatedly. We live in the U.S but I ordered torten guss, the vanillin sugar and the pan from Amazon. His only other request is to have vanilla cream pudding as the layer before the strawberries. I know his mother’s recipe for that so now I can surprise Mein Schatz! Danke Schoen from Nashville, Tennessee, U.S.A!
Vielen Dank! My Mom is German, but she emigrated to Canada in the 1970s. Although she doesn’t enjoy baking, this was a summer staple throughout our childhood. Thank you for sharing your recipe - I’ve been meaning to track one down. I remember my Mom’s having a layer of vanilla pudding. Have you encountered that?
This looks amazing! This has been my favourite dessert for as long as I can remember (somewhere over 21 years 😁). No1, I didn't know this was a German thing. No2, I have always eaten this with a soggy bottom, I thought it was part of the fun 🤣. I'm excited to eat the grown up version though 😂. Thank you!!
Hi Daniel - That´s a great suggestion, I´d definitely be up for the challenge! Not sure I have a table large enough to stretch out the strudel pastry though! Haha, I will try and think of something! But definitely a good idea for a new recipe going into the winter months...
@@theunicook2604 This past Spring I made a strudel but neither my kitchen nor my dining table was big enough so I had to use my living room table. It might be difficult, but worth it, to try it!
Haha well that's also a way to do it! And definitely the way my mum would make it with me as a kid with a pre-baked base. But now that I live in the UK I have no such luxuries XD

Haha well hopefully my trick can help you prevent a soggy bottom!
Hey! loved this recipe. Just the thought of loads of strawberries on a cake is so refreshing❤️
Yes! It's really the best in the summer!
@@theunicook2604 I am definitely trying this.
Can you try to make strudel? I can reccomend almond and apple as a very delicious combination

Sehr lecker 😉
I prefer to buy my Erdbeerboden from the shop, that way I can just eat it without having to make it first...
