Kendra was not a Unitologest, she was a undercover agent sent by the Earth Government; EarthGov, to retrieve the Red Marker and eliminate any evidence, Unitologests, and survivors to cover up the events that happen in Dead Space 1. Dead space 3 is already out and I was wandering weather this video was to be updated to include not only said game, but also the other games in the Dead Space universe/franchise.
Not necessarily, vents obviously. But during the campaign, there are too many parts when they will catch you by surprise. I'm assuming that you don't play on hardcore or survivalist difficulty...On those difficulties, they will sneak up on you or rush you. Hell, they are even smart enough to anticipate your shot placements. Example: Please read... ( While no music) : Survivalist difficulty You walk into a dark spacey room... walk through the corridor with your guard up... You hear a shudder, then a slasher pops in front of you... shoot & kill him...another comes from your left. While your killing him, another already pops in from the recent direction you killed the last. Put him in stasis... Kill the two necros another shudder... This time a enhanced fodder ( Axes and human-like figure) You shoot... He dodges the barrage of bullets/energy/javelins... he hits you... another comes from behind...you panic use stasis... you shoot the fodders legs, he falls... the spitter behind you stops you from moving... Meanwhile your getting hit from the downed fodder and the spitter...another fodder comes in front... Dead... ( Based off of the disposable services mission)
+Cal Kidd I must say playing the game without music takes away the feel of horror (TO ME! Might be otherwise to you though). For example the parts you're outside the spaceships, sometimes theres barely music and the monsters make no noise at all, compare that to some parts of the other parts of the game, which really made me take a crap in my pants, I could tell for myself the difference.
I agree 3 was the weakest of the trilogy, though I still had fun playing it. My favorite overall was Dead Space 2. It evolved Isaac and gave a great supporting cast.
Nah you right fam Dead Space 2 will be always be the best one in the trilogy. Even in 2020 I still play it. I hope they make another one in the near future
The scariest moment I've ever had in a video game is that scene where the necromorph busts open the elevator door while you're in it. There was basically a rule in survival horror games that in an elevator or small enclosed space like that, you're in a safe zone. Usually to give the player a brief break. I don't know about others but I was pretty much conditioned to think "Oh, it's an elevator. I can't get attacked in here." Then the Dead Space developers said SURPRISE MOTHA'FUCKA, and I proceeded to shit myself. I can't think another game where this sort of thing happened. Genius move on their part. Of course it's only a great jump scare on your first playthrough but it was a good one. The other most vivid things I can remember about this game is the head banging guy and Issac's hallicination of Nicole at the end before the credits. I love this franchise. I was pretty devastated to see how they butchered it with DS3. The devs have said publicly that DS4 can be a thing if enough people want it. Well, we want it if it's going to return to it's survival horror roots. Not call of duty necromorph edition.
Micheal Altman hated unitology. He died a martyr figure against his will. His death was no accident. Also he was not the first one to discover the black marker.
He did die against his will, that's for sure. But DredgerCorp with Markoff made a cult about Michael Altman because he noticed that unitologists say that Altman is prophet of Black Marker. Also, for those who read book Dead Space: Martyr, Hideki Ishimura mysteriosly escaped (if he escaped, nobody knows, but he did survive) the prison at DredgerCorp and boom. USG Ishimura takes place in Dead Space game. For those who haven't read Dead Space book, do it !
DarkForeign I still remember the first time that I read that book; I geeked out so hard when they described Hideki Ishimura escaping. I mean, it was probably only 4 sentences where he was even described, but STILL! I was all sorts of excited in just that instance. XD
This is how I sum it up: Dead Space was about being introduced to the horror and surviving. Additionally, it had our main character choose a side towards the end. Dead Space 2 was about the Red Marker's [curse] and the development of new markers. Dead Space 3 was about finding the source of the problem, discovering the truth and ending the scourge.
Dead Space 4 was probably going to be going to earth, ending unitology, putting earthgov on the spot for unethical experimentation, and probably go to the actual marker home world or worlds (cause moonboys say galactic wide assimilation) but EA said no and visceral said their goodbyes with awakened :(
Corrections: Kendra works for EarthGov (not a unitologist), with the goal of recovering the Red Marker for studying Hans Tiedemann (despite being more of an antihero) was the main antagonist of Dead Space 2, following his order and attempting to kill Isaac, Lexine, and Stross for what they know. Titian Station collapses because they were using the Markers as a power source.
+Cameron Henderson He also skipped numerous other MAJOR plot points like how the uber morph(aka hunter or regenorator) is created. That morph was created on the Ishumura by a unitologist scientist who wanted to make necromorphs virtually invulnerable. Spoiler alert..... They haunt you in all 3 games with thier self regenerative and 1 hit kill capabilities. Wheres a air lock when you need one!!!
If dead space 4 is to be made, theres only 2 vaiable options, The explanation of centuries ago where you play against the religion fanatics and you drop the marker in the middle of the ocean to save mankind, or you adventure into space to find out if theres any life left in the universe since the twin moons basically have eaten and destroyed all organic life and all of the celestial bodies as it was explained. And to find the alien race that translated the markers and send the warning across the entire universe as a warning about the twin moons and what the markers do. Finding them would be amazing to cross the universe or to know how it all started centuries ago
there is so much they can do with the story but companies don't make horror games anymore sadly. the society is so politically correct they hate horror games. there's just so much potential to the story
The reason for the ending of DS2 (Titan Station falling apart) was the explosive Convergence event, that's why there were a explosions all over the place
I actually loved DS3. It wasnt as scary as the first two but it was very good. I think people hate it because its not scary as the first two but thats because Viseral probably took another approach in the franchise.
+Gaming Blueskull having officially played all 3, i agree. DS 1 and 2 were harder and scarier. DS3 had a unbeatable custom weapon system that is ruined by the universal ammo which made it easy to be overpowered and breaks alot of logic and it could be argued for hours. DS3 also lacked many of the insta death creatures like those giant tenticles that ripped you apart if they successfully got you to the tunnel in DS1 or the nightmares in DS2. The brutes also served as punishing killers as well. Then DS3 lacks all of the big nasty creatures except the brute.
honestly ive only played dead space 3 and think its fun. the previous might have been better, but im too attached to the weapon crafting system now to go back and play 1 and 2
for me it was scary as hell especially when you comming back into that ship the horrible memories return to me no!!!!! don't take me again !!!!! but that's just me
ok, one thing always bothered me. The original black marker was sunk in the ocean by Altman, ok that's fine. But are you telling me with super space shockpoint drives and all the other futuristic tech, no one could go under water and recover it? They went through lengthy processes to remake it and plant it on Aegis 7? Please let me know if there is something else to it?
British Wolf yeah, see that's what im hoping for in this story, like its hid inside the Washington monument or statue of liberty haha something, and told the fanatics it was lost under recoverable sea lol
TheBlackSheep Well it's all in the book "Dead space Martyr" which goes through the story of the original black marker, it's a good read actually, i recommend having a look at it :)
Just beat dead space and dead space 2. Even though it's an IGN vid this is pretty dope, it helps connect the dots I was missing while playing the game.
Here's how I view the dead space franchise Dead space 1- a classic survival horror game with throw backs to alien and the thing, in other words, scary as hell Dead space 2- adds a little more action, but doesn't forget it's horror elements and improves upon the first Dead space 3- has the best combat out of all 3 but only has a few scares, but ends Isaac's story on a high note
MRVukable Such a wonderful game! The 1st one is an absolute masterpiece, an atmospheric nightmare. 2nd DS is super awesome, but just doesn't have that cramped, haunting loneliness to it. DS 3 would have been an awesome game if it wasn't Dead Space, but it's WAY too bright. Dead Space to me will always be that chill you felt the first time the quarantine alarm sounded on the Ishimura.
Dead Space (2008) Chapters : -New Arrivals -Intensive Care -Course Correction -Obliteration Imminent -Lethal Devotion -Environmental Hazard -Into the void -Search and Rescue -Dead on Arrival -End of Days -Alternate solution -Dead Space Where are the easter egg?🐇
bravo, so many people didnt catch the story. (lots of reviewers seemed to miss out on it) One of the most creative, cool, scary, deep, ineresting stories of any game in my opinion
Just to set things straight to both of you, In the end credits transmission at the end of Dead Space 2 it is revealed that there are 11 other marker sites.
2:34 Actually Kendra is working with some organization or most likely Earth Gov. She clearly sees the Marker as what it really is rather than some "holy relic". Showing she is not with the Unitologists.
I remember playing the 2nd one in a dark room with turtle beaches on.... when something jumped out from behind me i literally screamed and fell off my chair because i thought it was irl jumping at me
Kendra was a government spy, not a unitologist. She specifically stated she was working as a government agent sent to collect the marker for Earth Gov. To begin work on an endless energy supply. Which is also why Isaac is on Titan station in game 2, cause his mind made way for the creation of more markers and ways of collecting their endless supply energy
As scary as it isn't, you gotta admit that it's still really fun. Like Halo. Everyone was creeped out by the flood the first time, but in Halo 3, everyone was used too it, but still LOVED the game. Same thing for Dead Space.
+WiffyLight Well , just go and still play it ! It's not that bad , it's just disapointing in the way it's not as horific as the first 2 , but the story's kinda good ( If you don't care about the lore and just want to be scared , then yes , give up on doing it ) , while the game's far from being scary himself , the DLC's amazing ... You're constantaly halucinating and fighting against unkillable things ! That's a bit of hope for the 4th i guess !
Pedro Granja Actualy, if you look at it from a neutral point of view, rather than with the same point of view you had with the game "before" the dlc, you realise it's just a way to make a return to it's origins, and a way for them to say that the upcomming opus might actualy be surprising o= '( optimism my friend :D)
Giant What If Question- What if Metroid was a alternate dimension of Deadspace where Issac and Nicole actually got together in the end of the first game of Deadpace? That would explain a where Samus got most of her traits from! Mind blown!
first, his name's bruce, 1) he went to travel the world and learn all the tricks he'd need for becoming the batman. 2) dunno, probs prestigious schools. 3)I think he was just housekeeping at the time. 4) honestly no clue, probably the board of directors. 5) catwoman, batwoman, talia al ghul, and 3 civilians whose names escape me, or atleast that's who I can remember off the top of my head...
2:36 That fact is wrong, Kendra is actually working for the government and was on an undercover mission to recover the Marker for her superiors back at Earth.
Hands down, Isaac Clarke is one of the best badass*ases in gaming history! The man was only a regular rocket engineer and yet managed to survive being in a ship filled with deadly aliens, stop the infection three times, managed fight against the government and a fanatic cult, and he killed a moon. And he's almost fifty without any super powers or enhancements!
My personal favorite is Dead Space 2. There was an IMMENSE improvement in the gameplay(camera angle, player movement, stasis/kinesis use, melee combat/stomping, the store was made better imo etc.) compared to Dead Space 1, also I like how they gave voice to Isaac Clarke. However Dead Space 1 is the scariest game in the series :p
big mistake i have them all and i can assure you the series is one of my best purchases, yes it is useful to know but you are losing a lot of plot and scary ass hallways
Dead space 4 ps5, xbox series x and pc.. lets go. The first two were impressive for the hardware limitations. Imagine the possibilities... even a dead space full remaster would be amazing.
don't think about it and just enjoy the journey when it comes out. an ending doesn't determine whether or not a game is good, it's everything that leads up to it that's important.
Differs from person to person. Some people felt like it was too vague and didn't clear up much so it ended up all rather confusing. Some people felt it was too overt and cleared up too much so there was no mystery left in the story. I think DS3 was very succinct in the story it told, and it wrapped up most loose ends neatly, even if that did cost some of the mystique behind the story. DS3 was pretty easy to follow along, and the twist was both unexpected, yet not without ample foreshadowing.
I know this is ages old, but I needed a Dead Space recap because I'm finally getting around to playing Dead Space 2. It's been since the release of the first since I've played it, so I wanted a refresher. Got into the DS2 recap before realizing what I was watching. Nowhere does it indicate that you're doing both. Kind of frustrating.
the first dead space had the best atmosphere:making all the time be afraid and nervous. The other two games were great of course, but they can't compare.
i agree with you. i followed along pretty well, but i felt as if the characters knew more about everything that was happening more than the gamer. like turning off the machine at the end. they didnt explain what it would do if it was destroyed or turned off very well. just that one was gonna stop the necromorphs and the other saves them. i didnt understand exactly what was on that moon, and why it was all happening. it was like it all happened because "its just the way it is" kinda excuse
That's because they didn't have these videos when Halo 3 came out But they mostly do them before a sequel comes out. Star Craft, Mass Effect, Assassins Creed, Diablo, Metroid, Bioshock, God of War, Gears of War, Killzone etc.
That's the same with any series which relies on mystery and suspense for its storytelling that eventually includes sequels. You either add more mysteries on top of what you have which just gets stale after a while, or you keep it consistent but ultimately predictable the longer it goes on. All things considered, I'd say the latter is the better choice, for the sake of the series' integrity, even if that means it's not nearly as scary or intriguing as the first installment.
Here's Dead Space for you ign. Take Metroid, Mass Effect, and Resident Evil. Mix them together for one of the best gameplay adventures you'll have in this generation. They talk about this game like it was suppose to have in-depth lore like Star Wars or Lord of the Rings. It's an amazing sci-fi thriller with good dialog and a story that fit's in with the rest of the series.
the only way they could make it more scary is to introduce something new and completely unexpected. Something like Amnesia, where you're practically defenseless, like the Ubermorphs. You shoot off their limbs, stasis them, but they don't stop for shit.
Isaac Clarke is both one of the greatest badasses in games and the unluckiest bastard ever.
Damn Isaac is one of the most badass video game characters out there.
The most*
+Quinton Miller way to comment on something from a year ago dumbass

Thank you, sir! Somebody knows!
Isaac Clarke thank you for your complement. though it leads me to ask weather or not gamers & none-gamers do not pay more attention too details.
Dead space 3 in 20 seconds

Just started a Dead Space marathon to pass time through the holidays. Still one of the best game I have played.
...Turn the music off when you play. The game experience changes when you can't anticipate enemies. :)
( While no music) : Survivalist difficulty
You walk into a dark spacey room...
walk through the corridor with your guard up...

shoot & kill him...another comes from your left. While your killing him, another already pops in from the recent direction you killed the last.

you shoot the fodders legs, he falls...

Wow man, couldn't agree more.

Who else thinks that the original dead space game got only 2 million copies sold is bull crap.
As scary as it isn't, you gotta admit that it's still really fun. Like Halo. Everyone was creeped out by the flood the first time, but in Halo 3, everyone was used too it, but still LOVED the game. Same thing for Dead Space.
I hope the next dead space is like the 1st 2. I never played number 3 but I heard it was disappointing and it got a low score.
+Crysos Is back k
Not, it was not a good DS story, just a good game... full of EA greedy hands all over it...
+WiffyLight Dont write it off completely , it had its moments and is worth it if you can find it in a sale/discounted.
Giant What If Question- What if Metroid was a alternate dimension of Deadspace where Issac and Nicole actually got together in the end of the first game of Deadpace? That would explain a where Samus got most of her traits from! Mind blown!
Basically Event Horizon
Charlie Stott not Even close they are both in space Thats all My friend
I miss the atmosphere, darkness and Isaac's dementia on Dead Space 2, those points relly did make it scary.
Deadspace in 5 minutes doesn't even mention Dr merser smh 😂
first, his name's bruce, 1) he went to travel the world and learn all the tricks he'd need for becoming the batman.
Came here for the first game only, now my DS2 got ruined. -_-
Ani Hakobyan what do you expect he said spoilers alert
2:36 That fact is wrong, Kendra is actually working for the government and was on an undercover mission to recover the Marker for her superiors back at Earth.
no wonder i couldn't get into this game , its way too spacey :D
Well the clue is in the name
dannyst4r
Well I'm so glad you informed me of that in the most mature way possible - makes me so proud of the world we live in.
Awesome love all the deadspaces
My personal favorite is Dead Space 2. There was an IMMENSE improvement in the gameplay(camera angle, player movement, stasis/kinesis use, melee combat/stomping, the store was made better imo etc.) compared to Dead Space 1, also I like how they gave voice to Isaac Clarke. However Dead Space 1 is the scariest game in the series :p
woww this is really usefull now i wont buy the first and second one
big mistake i have them all and i can assure you the series is one of my best purchases, yes it is useful to know but you are losing a lot of plot and scary ass hallways
ooooo then i must buy the first and second right if u say its bloody scared and good att the same time
so you are saying i must buy the first one
first is a musthave a true horror experience look at some reviews its the scariest but im not sure if "the best"
mentos445 buy the first for history purposes and the third if you like a hard coop game! my psn is FGBraz
Dead space 4 ps5, xbox series x and pc.. lets go. The first two were impressive for the hardware limitations. Imagine the possibilities... even a dead space full remaster would be amazing.
The reason why religion should be thrown out of window.
+Tac Son (Jackie Nam) there are a billion reasons but they wont sadly
Zack Hakim if you say it three times, it just may come true.........................jk
Ben Sra dayum... i didn't noticed it was three times...maybe because my internet connection and i keep pressing retry
Dead Space 2 Perfect Ending For Series
religion is bad mmkay kids...
Mkay mr.maky
I always just kind of assumed there was an alien virus in a ship...
0:53 isaac you's his super smart enginier brain to press the big blue button
No one else could've done what I did.
don't think about it and just enjoy the journey when it comes out.
an ending doesn't determine whether or not a game is good, it's everything that leads up to it that's important.
Amazing how great it still looks 13 years on.
I remember the 1st time a necromorph jumped out at me I turned off my xbox immediately and took a walk outside in the sun lol
Im here to tell everyone that we are getting a Remake AND a spiritual successor of this game, LETS GOOO!!
why did i still feel the shivers when i see the USG ishimura
“Isaac enlists the help of his son, Mark, but it’s revealed he’s a devoted Unitoligist!”
They're referring from the moment he started talking about Dead Space to the moment he stopped. Im guessing.
the first dead space had the best atmosphere:making all the time be afraid and nervous. The other two games were great of course, but they can't compare.
Who's here after the Dead Space remake announcement
i agree with you. i followed along pretty well, but i felt as if the characters knew more about everything that was happening more than the gamer. like turning off the machine at the end. they didnt explain what it would do if it was destroyed or turned off very well. just that one was gonna stop the necromorphs and the other saves them. i didnt understand exactly what was on that moon, and why it was all happening. it was like it all happened because "its just the way it is" kinda excuse
That's because they didn't have these videos when Halo 3 came out But they mostly do them before a sequel comes out. Star Craft, Mass Effect, Assassins Creed, Diablo, Metroid, Bioshock, God of War, Gears of War, Killzone etc.
Technically some of that info wasn't explained in the games. Altman's story of sinking the marker was actually in Dead Space Martyr, which is a book.
I would correct ign in that Kendra wasn't a unitologist, she was a member of an unnamed earth gov agency
the only way they could make it more scary is to introduce something new and completely unexpected. Something like Amnesia, where you're practically defenseless, like the Ubermorphs. You shoot off their limbs, stasis them, but they don't stop for shit.
Damien sounds exactly the same as he did nearly a decade ago when this was made. He has found the fountain of youth.
