- The original Dead Space was one of the best games of 2008 with the sequel coming in 2011 and one of the best horror video games of all time. We'd love to know what happened to Dead Space but until we do here is our animated version of the entire chronology of Dead Space lore.

We can't have nice things because when someone writes a perfect script following Jill and Chris's horrible mission to the Arclay Mountains, executives fire that writer and hire on someone else to write something completely different. Executive meddling is why we can't have nice things.
You could easily make a Dead Space movie. It would just get thrown out and replaced with a movie about zombies and maybe some teenagers, at least one sex scene, and more one-liners, with Isaac Clarke mentioned either in an offhand comment or as a name on a screen early in the movie.

Trying to beat the Giant Crab in DS3 (,with the wrong sort of weapon) was the most irritating experience of my life. I was literally screaming in frustration and have never forgiven DS3 for that!

The story of dead space will change
while it's fair people say that Dead Space strayed away from horror in the later games, I think that's what was supposed to happen. We have already gone through this already and so has Isaac, he has already been through 2 outbreaks by the time 3 happens. He already knows the little tricks they do and how they can be killed, the reason why people say Awakening was scary is due to the same reason. Isaac thought that it was the end because they killed the moon, so when he saw that he was still hallucinating and that necromorphs were still running around. He started getting scared because he didn't know what was happening because he had never experienced anything like it in his past games

Sure is. I've always liked the fact that it isn't just a generic "derelict space monsters infect human race" type of story. There's a lot going on, and the Unitology aspect makes it extra disturbing.

Read the god damned books before you say anything about the third game. Read Martyr and dead space will haunt you for a long while. The books are not just gross out scare tactics. The books are slow and suspenseful and tell you how the virus works and why the obelisks made all of this happen. The Obelisks are so similar to human DNA that they seem to be our creators books but ironically they are so slightly different that they'll fuck you up nice and good. The books don't focus on necromorphs either, they focus more on what the alters do to the human brain and what they are. Prepare for the submarine scene. You'll keep reading that part and wont stop for a second. The build up is insane.

Dead space 1 scared the shit out of me as i played it the first time.
Dead space 2 however felt more story and gore than horror.
Dead space 3 well.... YOU CAN BUILT YOUR OWN GUNS! ( I just love having a hand crafted weapon that can wreak havoc over any enemy i run into:D ))
DS1 = Confusion, horror, constant tension.
DS2 = Perfect balance of tense atmosphere, combat, story, gore, and scares.
DS3 = Necromorphs arent scary anymore since youve spent the last 2 games destroying them, so hardly any horror outside of jumpscares, until you do the side missions, the co-op missions, and the DLC, but you get the best combat out of the series and you get to rip up the necromorphs as payback for all the times they fucked up in the previous 2 games.

keynan martinez DS3 biggest weakness was it´s crafting system. You literally never run out of recources and were able to create a gun that ONE SHOTS a necromorph doesnt matter what you aim at. with the basic ladout it would´ve been probably better

@@andresantoniogilsumma6234 shortly after you get your suit in dead space 2 you venture through some of the living quarters/ apartments in the colony. At one point during this you get trapped in a laundry room with a dryer spinning and you can hear a kid in there crying if you listen closely.

@@andresantoniogilsumma6234 play it on pc if you can. The high setting for graphics and 4K resolution make it feel like a new game. Plus the skin mods for changing your visor/suit color make it cool too.
Dead space 2 is definitely my favourite, I got a demo disc for it with a magazine and thought it was the most intense and enjoyable game I'd ever played, it was hard (on higher game modes), but it wasn't frustrating and irritating like dark souls is, it got the balance of instant death and survivability right, so that you didn't feel like you were just mowing through the necromorphs like generic zombies, nor did you feel completely powerless and unable to get anywhere. It was one of the only games ever where I actually felt uncomfortable moving on, never knowing what was around each corner and whether I was about to be swarmed by necromorphs, jumped by one or see nothing and have the tension build further.
I gotta get my shit together *and my balls* and play the game on hardcore dificulty... leapers and the Ubermorph, *ugh*
Hardcore mode is nothing but pure memory my dude
Fifteen chapters, three saves.
Make your first save after you fight the Tormenter when the helicopter wipes out Dana and the others around chapter six.
Make your second save right before the long insta-death corridor when Tiedemann turns off the power to the processing facility in chapter 8, or if you're good at navigating through it and killing the miniboss at the end, wait until chapter 10 when you get back onto the Ishimura.
Make your final save either immediately prior to the eye-poke machine, or if you're good at doing it and good at avoiding the Ubermorph, wait until the very last save immediately before the final boss.
Pulse Rifle and Plasma cutter fulfill the same roles, with the Pulse rifle having the added versatility of the grenade launcher. Their ammo is excessively cheap. Consider them for your "Primary" weapons.
Ripper is the most ammo efficient and is excellent for mowing down weaker necromorphs.
Detonator and its mines are absolutely wonderful for cheesing stalkers when they run at you
Contact Beam is the only weapon that I can truly consider to be "required" because of it's unique alt-fire capabilities adding a very powreful version of stasis, on top of doing a ton of damage.
A few things that Dead Space 2 did very well was introducing the player to enemies at a fair pace, and showing you where they can appear from. It punishes the player for not having good inventory management, and not careful proceeding through the halls, often surrounding the player during these moments. I loved that game so much
+Agusti Guerola Garcia I finished ds2 recently. You fight the ubermorph by ignoring him when possible and when not, shoot an arm a leg and stasis him (I panicked and dismembered him completely instead of this) don't try to fight him, just run and stasis.
+Does I noticed that they tend to sneak up behind you silently towards the end of the game as you fight another one. Seems to be something exclusive to enhanced pukers and slashers.

This could probably be broken up into many different stages with far more detail explaining how each stage starts and ends and why, but these will suffice for any novice.

Isaac Clark is OP AF. ONE engineer manages to survive and fight off a huge horde while trapped on a ship. Dead Space 1. However one necromorph gets shot out an escape pods and destroys an entire ship full of trained military soldiers. We continue on to Dead Space 2, once again, ONE engineer manages to survive and fight off another necromorph horde while trapped on a colony station yet all the trained security is slaughtered. We continue on, a war was waged on the frozen planet so there were probably thousands of military trained soldiers, all slaughtered or changed by the marker yet ONE engineer stops it all again.

Well I mean, the soldiers didn't knew you have to dismember necromorphs to kill them, while Isaac learned that the moment he laid his hands on a (plasma) cutting tool, while they had rifles
Also, in Dead Space 2 there was a guy who survived 3 hours against necromorphs by using their blades as weapons with TK module (he bled out, unfortunately)

Well playing any dead space game with the brightness as low as you can until you can barely see then playing it in a surround sound in a dark lit room on hard mode will make you paranoid as fluff.
Dead Space 1 was fuc*ing scary, Dead Space 2 had a good Story, Dead Space 3... never happened.

Dead Space 1 Best horror game of last gen. Dead space 2 action game trash. Dead Space 3 kinda the same as 2 but fun as hell playing co-op and I enjoyed it more than 2.

Dead Space 3 is underrated for how good the story and exploration was. As someone who was really into the lore of the series, it was a solid entry in the franchise since it actually explained everything Dead Space 1 and 2 didn’t.
Dead Space 1 and 2 were basically just scary corridor horror games, with not much going on.

I got DS 3 as it was on sale for $4, so that's an obvious buy, as I didn't really know the storyline, still even after completing the game several times - this video helps a lot
Voldebutt: Well, it does, but it isn't supposed to. See, the problem is Dead Space 1 was a game, not a franchise, and the sequels were written after it was successful. This becomes a problem when you start thinking too hard, like some players do. The issue is the Red Marker. Throughout DS1, the Red Marker is trying to manipulate Isaac into putting it back on the pedestal to "make us whole" and shut off the signal activating the necromorphs. The Red Marker was the good guy.
In DS2, it was retconned so it was actually evil but apparently really bad at it, and was actually creating the necromorphs and spreading them deliberately. I guess it tried to convince Isaac it was the good guy while secretly putting instructions for building more Markers into his head so they could be spread across the galaxy. That's the best explanation I've come across while looking up the drastic differences between the Red Marker and all the others.
So yeah, it /is/ confusing, but it wasn't intended to be at first. They just wrote themselves into a corner and had to make some story decisions that cause problems if you shotgun the games one after another.

1 was my favorite for sure, it was completely new, Had some very interesting characters with memorable deaths. Gave you a sense of despair and it really did change the whole "head shot = zombie ded" ideology which is awesome. DS2 was great because it ramped it up a little however I didn't care for most of the characters besides ellie. DS3 was good but it was more throw you into shit situations and you better fight instead of that lingering dread around every corner.
2 was my fave because the first one scared me to death.
1. was the best thing 2.wasnt that scary anymore and 3. well.... lets burn it

What could Issac and co. do? They barely managed to take down one, and there are at least 12 Brother Moons near the earth feeding on it. At best they manage to get the moonlings and those in deep space to evacuate. But those near the earth are probably fucked.
Yes there is, but its set off aside because Star Wars is getting a major video game treatment from other gaming companies right now.
Unlikely, the moons were already there by the time Issac and Carver got back, so the necromorph outbreak most likely already began. And considering how well Earth Gov has been at dealing with outbreakes before they won't stand a chance. Also, Issac and Carver crashed into one of the Brethren Moons. Even IF they survived the crash AND the ship was still working theres no way they would be able to escape the moons tentacle things which can reach for hundreds of miles. Another thing is much like the other games the first letter of each chapter title spells out a message, and the awakened DLC chapters spelled out RIP. The final thing is, and probably the most important one is EA didn't meet sales expectations with Dead Space 3.
SorrisN Thats sorta true, but rumors have been going around that there is Fourth Dead Space game coming out, and a possible reboot. Visceral however confirmed that they are holding off on Dead Space because of the sales. If you played Battlefield: Hardline ( A Visceral Game ) you'll see easter eggs and possible hints of Dead Space. They haven't scrapped the series, at least not for a while.

I ABSOLUTELY love Dead Space 2, Part 1 was just the beginning and felt too short IMO but was still good. Part 2 was 2-Discs on Xbox 360 and felt Thrilling, and it kept you on edge...the Game had more Guns, a Dark Atmosphere, more Outer Space Scenarios and didn't have the complicated Crafting like in Part 3. Dead Space 3 was OK, it's just the Guns felt weaker...I did like playing the Co-op Campaign with my Family & Friends and fighting the Bigger Tau Volantis Inhabitants Necromorphs on the last 4 Chapters. :)

also, i really like how the mystery behind the Markers is nothing more than a giant alien race trying to reproduce and using the discarded necromorphs as a food source, and thats it! the Brother Moons are just trying to bang and chow down.

I am actually one of those few people who like the third one the most. I liked things such Isaac needing to get a helmet, the swapping between normal gravity and vacuum, exploration rewarding weapon customisation, and in general I think it did a better job to immerse. 2 was a little too scary, I hated those raptors and kid necromorphs.
Dead space 1 is definitely my favorite
