@@msy77 been here now almost 3 years. Newfoundland has been good to me having met some wonderful people. However, I have to admit that B.C was home and I’ll always miss it. Just as Newfoundlanders leave their home, they long to go back!
The song "Tom Tobin's Dicky Bird" has been a controversy for quite a few years now between my family and those who "love the song" and want to ignore the pain and suffering that song caused my grandfather and more than likely other members of the Hurley family. If you see this post, and continue to support this song after seeing it, consider yourself the asshole I am referring to at the end of this post. Prior to this post, I am willing to understand you were not aware of the hurt this song caused! The last person, to my knowledge, who dared sing that song in his presence APOLOGIZED! Many of you knew my grandfather. Many of you disrespect his name because you have been told that our Hurley family deserves better than to have their suffering ignored for your entertainment. I am going to ask all of you to acknowledge this, accept it, and stop "pretending" this song was a funny joke. My grandfather was a good man and instead of being mature, caring, adults who can respect the hurt this song caused him, you have decided to be assholes and put his feelings aside for you to laugh and have fun. It is shameful! DO BETTER! And DO NOT COMMENT! Just keep being assholes if that is what you prefer! Just do not expect me to view you as anything different. Because I will NOT! I love and respect my grandfather and his memory too much to let this go on! If this song was about your family member, you would not be silent. You would not be calm and cheering on those still singing it. And I would be the one supporting you in advocating for the truth of the suffering the song caused those involved! This song is a prime example of the old style of bullying. Maybe you should stop wearing pink on anti-bullying day if you love the song too much to stop singing it. This song is a prime example of putting your entertainment ahead of mental health of others. Maybe you should stop quacking about how you acknowledge the need for "mental health awareness" because you obviously need to work on your own ability to recognize your own impact to someone's mental health being negatively impacted for your entertainment. I am so done with your hypocrisy! And I will not be shocked over loosing "fake facebook friends" because the truth hurts and they can not handle someone as blunt as me! Pop Hurley, may you rest in peace! I love you and I miss you! And you deserved more than you ever believed! And I do not want those who will continue to celebrate the song that caused you to hurt to be a part of my life now that they know. Please do not comment on this post with your illogical, heartless, cruel reasons to continue to sing this song. You WILL BE TOLD TO FUCK OFF! God bless you all and may God lead you to feel guilt from this day forward when you sing or hear this song being sung for entertainment of the assholes who refuse to admit they are assholes!

I got this from a man in Goose Cove. The time is freer and some of the words are different. Two different versions of the same song on opposite sides of the Bay. Cuz, I’m pretty well sure that that young man is related to some of the people in Goose Cove. Lol
Love this song and he does a great job of it. The other gentleman standing with the beer in his hand has a vidoe I saw a few years back but have been unable to find it. Does anyone have it to share or know where I can find it?
Retired to CBS 6 weeks ago. Checking out videos of my new home province. UA-cam algorithms picked it up and here I am. Love it..love Newfoundland!
Awesome! I visited once and will definitely get back there! You are lucky to get to move there!
