My dad introduced peter jacobs music when we moved back to newfoundland we would sit for hours every single day him n I on the back deck looking over the bay..so many beautiful memories..sadly I lost him in 2018 this song is our favorite we would sing along loud, swaying body, feeling happiness fill our souls. I sit alone now, I start my mornings n end my nites listening to our song..like a video memories flow of us laughing singing enjoying the silence in the moment. Thank you for this song for all it means..you bring my dad back to me❤

ladies and gents, and to all newfies, i have visited the island over 20 times so far and each time i leave i take apart of newfoundland with me ,coming from the phillipines to explore canada ,newfoundland will always be my best place in the world, thank you all for being so nice to us .god bless all newfies

My dad passed a year ago today...he requested we play this song at his funeral..so this song means alot to me.Thank you for writing it.He was an irreplaceable man and this song fit him well.

The music, the people the food, the landscape is still part of my heart. I left Newfoundland in 1956 but it has always been my home. As a senior I have travelled back every year for the past seven years to experience the land I never knew as a child. I love it and always take a friend with me. They love it and I will go again once COVID is over. Thanks for the wonderful music. I dance daily around the dining room table to the songs I love. Thanks for the memories.

My grandfather passed and this song reminds me of him, such a hard worker and a great hunter. Showed me many things in life and took care of me when my mother left me and my sister. Many things I’ve wanted to say to him but it was all left unsaid, I’m forever grateful of the life he gave me and things he’s done for my family.

I left home over 22 years ago, been back a few times. Living in Ontario, seeing the crap that goes on nowadays, I can relate to this song. I wanna move my family and move back to the "simple life". I miss the sea, the friends, the gatherings, shed parties, the neighbors, oh hell I'm homesick!

Newfoundland has 50+ different Slangs/meanings and words that is different within Newfoundland Island itself and also settlements within Newfoundland. Remember, there are English /French/ Irish/scottish/spanish /Fins/Norwegian and the list goes on....that has moved and live here for centuries ty "food for thought"

A great song .I think if you had an enjoyable childhood your home town will always give you fond memories wherever it was. I am now over 80 but I left home at the age of 16 and emigrated to Australia . But I will always have fond memories of growing up in Cheltenham England and have only been back once 50 years ago.
This brought my dad such comfort in his last months. We gathered as a family to listen to this song after his funeral, that was his wish. I wasn't able to listen to it for a few years but now i listen to it daily and look at photos of Newfoundland.. thank you for creating something that means so much to so many.

I first heard this song while working in Newfoundland and fell in love with it. Last time I checked it wasn't on Spotify I wish it was.
Just spent a day and a half with Peter. He played on Bell Island last week. Such kind hearted person. He loves what he does and truly cares for his fans. A great Newfoundlander.
Love this song. I'm 66 years old. I was born and raised in Nunavt way above the Arctic Circle. I lived in Edmonton Vancouver Calgary Cache Creek Ashcroft Penticton Ottawa Saskatoon Rankin Inlet Iqaluit Yellowknife. Met my wonderful husband 27 years ago, he's from St. John's. We have lived in Winnipeg since we met. I am originally from Taloyoak in Nunavut. No regrets but loneliness for the home never goes away.

I left home when I was 16 years old, I am now 65 years old, still living in the south. I accidently came across this song. I never knew I had so many tears to release. Arctic is my home, always will be, my ashes will definitely go to Taloyoak when I pass on whenever God decides to take me. Thank you Peter Jacobs. My ties to my home are so strong, I feel it inside. I think of home everyday.

I am from Black Duck, Born in Stephenville Crossing Hospital in 1967, grew up in a Town Called Kippens and later when I was a teen, Corner brook, I also sing and write songs, listening to Peter Jacobs makes me remember my roots and the upbringing we endured, we always appreciate the little things and what we had, We had the love of music in our souls and worked hard on the lands and seas to survive, winters were tetrus but we stayed warm with the love of family in our Hearts and wood stoves and most of all music, those were the days b'y and I sure miss them.

Played this song at my husband's graveside when he passed in September 2020. We also used it to make a slideshow with his pictures over the years. Couldn't have been more perfect if I hadn't written it myself. Makes me cry everytime I hear it. Thank you.
My family moved from Newfoundland to Vancouver Island in 1981. My Dad visited very often. He passed away in Oct. 2019 in BC. His last wishes was for his ashes to be buried back home but due to Covid & travel restrictions My brother was unable to fulfill his wishes.
Once restrictions were lifted My brother brought him home we he belonged.
Anyways My Aunt sang this song at his grave site today.

I love this song too and I usually cry listening to it. My husband loved it and it was sung at his funeral in November 2019, the only comfort I can get is listening to this song while missing my husband.
@@Squad-fl8ij I can relate. I cry every time as well. My husband lived and worked all over Canada in his lifetime, including the Yukon. I at least get comfort knowing he lived his last few years back in Newfoundland and is buried on the Rock.

I was raised on the west coast in a little town in Gibsons. the ocean is like a magnetic. you cant take it out of your blood. when I was 15 I moved to the interior of B.C. and my mother became so depressed because the ocean gave her peace. but dad arthritis was so bad he could not open his hands. Dad's relatives came over from the years that had the potato famine. so I long to go live on the east coast ..its like coming home. strange to say that, but i never lived there, but the call is to move there regardless of the cold. I lived in Calgary for 7 years. and I know what cold is. but I want to experience the east coast. its so beautiful.

Saw a Video in UNILAD, where a lady was singing this song to the whales while playing the guitar, on a boat and it brought the whales close to her.
