40+ year old here. Here's what happened. Younger x/older milennial women (80s kids) may have actually played these games when they were under 12. But keep in mind there was no internet yet, or any sense of what exactly was changed with some of these games. Most american children probably had never seen an untranslated japanese game. Which is why everyone expects these "girl gamerz" to know all this stuff, and they often don't. Anyway, that's why women like this one knew what Super Mario 2 was, but didn't get the memo about even comically low barrier of entry trivia like "mario 2 (us) -> doki doki panic (japan)." So pre internet adolescence was her cut off for gaming knowledge from first hand experience. I can't speak for the other generations, nor (disclaimer) am I talking 100% about every last x/mil woman (please don't @ me). The observation generally holds as a rule, and any genuine exceptions only serve to prove it by being exceptional. But sure, mileage may vary. Usually does. Gen z was probably different. Idk.
40+ guy here. I actually bought a knock-off NES Mini a couple years back from a pawn shop for $20. When I realized my mistake, I lmao'd and began going through the "640" games it had. While the console wasn't in a box, a closer examination would have made it clear it wasn't an NES Mini. That's not going to be the case for everyone, especially considering how widespread the knock-off gaming market is these days. It's easy to assume adults of a certain age shouldn't fall for it, but that's also assuming that adults of a certain age were invested enough in games to know the difference. Imma cut this mom some slack on the purchase; the news report was a bit much, but she's right to be concerned about the content.
We don't even know if she was the one who had actually bought it since it said it was gifted to the kid. Someone else in the family could have bought it. I don't think it was mentioned where it came from. She could have been scammed by an online seller if she bought it online and they had used the official product images to trick people into thinking they were getting the real thing. And yeah. I think she wasn't wrong to be concerned about the content of the games. It feels like kids in the comments want an excuse to bash on an adult.
No one in this news segment seems to be duped. The only confusion is the lady who came to the conclusion that SMB2 was altered to be more offensive but that's understandable given the number of other titles on the machine were. But you have to remember that grandma and grandpa are their target audience.
@pigs18 that was the original version of the game, it was bought by Nintendo 14 years before 9/11 Nintendo, added mario, luigi, peach, and toad to it, and removed doki
@reboxtherapy Based on the knock-off system's library, I'm pretty sure the game she was referring to was Blackman 2, not Doki Doki Panic. Though Blackman 2 may also have been a reskin of DDP rather than SMB2 for all I know
The fact that it is even possible to even be considered old makes me feel like I've watched this guy for decades lol. I remember when he first introduced that intro back in like the beginning of 2018 (I've been watching him since 2016 I think)
My parents actually ended up buying one of those 400 million in 1 game consoles recently. The input lag on it is insane, it's hard to jump + whip the candles in Castlevania
If there's one constant in the universe, it's parents not paying attention to what they buy their kids and then getting pissed at everyone but themselves.
Louis Vuitton has some explaining to do. Clasp broke on my daughter’s purse after three days. They said that’s not their problem. Just because of the “Louie Baton” typo in the design. Spent a whole $5 on that purse!
Hah I love that they censored "woody" on direct capture but not on the over the shoulder shots. Also the fact that they have paper luigi but the other 5 icons are sprites, not even very good ones.
My parents bought knock off stuff before on Amazon for my nieces and nephew usually LEGO and action figure knockoffs and i have to constantly warn them about the stuff. A lot of it is targeting people who are doing last minute holiday shopping. Luckily they haven't done it with videogames.
So this woman who claimed to have grown up playing games on the SNES and such, failed to noticed the distinct LACK of any Nintendo branding that is on literally anything Nintendo put out? Yeah I'm calling BS. She's just too ashamed that she got scammed for a knock off and didn't know any better.
We’ve all seen these online, especially Facebook market place, and even in person at malls or other stores. I would not expect for these knockoffs to have nudity. I definitely don’t blame the parents. This is why the ESRB exists.
My brother bought me one by accident for Christmas. I felt really bad for him because he was excited to get me something he thought I would truly enjoy, only to find out it was a knockoff product. However, we kept it anyways, and had fun with the silly games they had on it. It was an interesting present!
when the parent first starts talking about it she said it was a gift. i know she did it for the 'wrong' reasons, "i wanted to play it first", but she still checked it first and then realized it was not what she was expecting.this feels like the kind of toy older grandparents would buy because its similar enough and they might not be super discerning, but hey they can get a toy they got for their kids for the grand kids too. the whole thing sucks (the situation, not the video)

Title should be Parents Upset Over Bootlegged Console. Here I was expecting them to be upset over something like Earthbound. If I were a lesser person I'd call this clickbait.
IDK the mother seemed very reasonable, sure she bought a product the was obviously the wrong thing, but I don’t think she was angry at any one thing, more so trying to spread awareness to other parents considering buying Mini SNES for their kids, despite the fact that this is something the parents should’ve already been aware of.
I feel like these people somehow had never come across a third party knockoff product in their entire life so just the fact that they saw it, went “Omg I remember that! Let me buy it for my kid, especially with how cheap it is!” and then when they get it and check out are so surprised that really thought to themselves “Yeah this is newsworthy” and didn’t even think to educate themselves at any point. You could ask any gamer, including the casual gamer, and they’d all say they know of knockoffs, but I bet if you ask someone who doesn’t like games or moms like that that they’d say something along the lines of no way, that can’t be real. Really shows how much people need to educate themselves, especially when it comes to older games
To be less reactionary (hence why I don't have a a big social media presence). I think the presence of adult theamed ROM Hacks vs the original ones is probably the biggest thing I think not everyone will pick up on. I think most people know it is knockoff product, but being sold on official channels via Amazon and Walmart does mean there should had been some basic quality control and review.
I went to a mall today & by the food court there's a kiosk selling knockoff NES classic minis I wonder if the consoles sold there are like the ones in the video.
This is why...parents...you check the games for adult stuff before you give it to your kid(s)...oh wait,im sorry..i forgot that you parents can be kinda dumb and act like karens some times
Tbf, this mother said she started up the console before the son played it. And she said it was gifted to the family, so if anything, she's checking to make sure the product is appropriate....so that's being a good parent.
'I believe parents should pay attention to the games they give their kids...' No sh!t, Sherlock. Being aware of what media your child is consuming and what presents you are gifting them is part of being a responsible parent. Blindly giving your kid a SNES shaped box with over 800 games without questioning its legitimacy (hint: there weren't even 800 SNES games in the US market) then publicly whining about your inability to take accountability is part of being a karen.

Idk.
In this episode, no one knows about the Offensive Rom Hack Era, of the 90s-2000s.
Yeah
Did they say that she purchased it.
The way they phrase "gifted it" seemed like it came from someone outside the home.
Exactly. The angry teenagers in the comments just want to get mad at adults who aren’t gamers I swear
They are just now upset?
I thought that train left 20 years ago
Oh my gosh Chad vs the news is back.
@@reboxtherapy Wow! Really?! No way! (FYI: Doki isn't a character. It's the onomatopoeia for a heartbeat.)
@reboxtherapy Based on the knock-off system's library, I'm pretty sure the game she was referring to was Blackman 2, not Doki Doki Panic. Though Blackman 2 may also have been a reskin of DDP rather than SMB2 for all I know
That intro never gets old
The fact that it is even possible to even be considered old makes me feel like I've watched this guy for decades lol. I remember when he first introduced that intro back in like the beginning of 2018 (I've been watching him since 2016 I think)
They know enough to realize these consoles are sus, but not enough to know exactly WHY. The irony is palpable.
Hoot wireless.
Super Nintendo Classic? I thought this was going to be about those complaints parents had about the actual OG Super Nintendo!
My parents actually ended up buying one of those 400 million in 1 game consoles recently. The input lag on it is insane, it's hard to jump + whip the candles in Castlevania
This is the problem with media. They chose not to even do their own research.
Another “parents upset” video! Frickallujah!
Frickallujah!
Frickallujah!
frickallujah!
Africk!
Breaking news: parents just realized there are fake consoles and ripoffs. What's the name everyone's calling them... Hmmm... Shoe-feets?
A new "parents upset" video, and it's about video games? I'm loving this return to the classics!
Hello it is already been 1 year (forever) since TPOT 2 Minecraft. We need tpot 9 Minecraft!
For real though what is up with that weird rom hack of McKids?
If there's one constant in the universe, it's parents not paying attention to what they buy their kids and then getting pissed at everyone but themselves.
Louis Vuitton has some explaining to do. Clasp broke on my daughter’s purse after three days. They said that’s not their problem. Just because of the “Louie Baton” typo in the design. Spent a whole $5 on that purse!
The only story here is that Amazon and Walmart have no control over what most third party sellers are putting on their storefronts.
They don't care as long as they get their cut of the profits.
The next video should be about Parents upset over parents upset over parents being upset
"Where's the source?"
Every news channel: Trust me
Hah I love that they censored "woody" on direct capture but not on the over the shoulder shots.
Also the fact that they have paper luigi but the other 5 icons are sprites, not even very good ones.
so glad we getting the classic content back instead of none stop cursed commercials
I love CC, but yeah. I dig the variety.
Ditto all the above, love CC but also love the classic style content
"X-rated"
"Super Nintendo freakout in 2024"
Me not even a minute into this: "Boomers are freaking out over an illegal ROM-box aren't they..." lmao
that must been the knock off north American canada USA and south American brazil snes though. which it is the cool baby 2
I always love a good Parents upset video from Chadtronic
I only fear for the day the parents come for Chad
Parents upset over Chadtronic
We’ve all seen these online, especially Facebook market place, and even in person at malls or other stores. I would not expect for these knockoffs to have nudity. I definitely don’t blame the parents. This is why the ESRB exists.
This reminds me of the Scott The Woz bootlegs video loll
Bootleggers just stole fan hacks and there’s a lot of naughty ROM hacks on NES/Famicom for some reason
Emulators are great but I NEED people to build their own rom collections
Worst part? Some parents are probably blaming Nintendo just because it looks like a snes
Why does the so-called Switch look more like a Vita? 😅
The only upsetting part about the SNES Classic is the aftermarket price 😭
Yes! Chadtronic has finally returned, folks!
*a woman walks up to me and whispers*
Huh? Uh-huh. I see. Alright, thank you.
*the woman leaves*
…
WHAT DO YOU MEAN HE NEVER LEFT?!?!
I thought the same. I guess UA-cam's algorithm has been neglecting to show us his new videos 😮
Simple, you haven’t subscribed to his channel.
@@ShockwaveFPSStudios I am subscribed and have all notifications turned on, and yet this is the first video from him that has appeared in my notifications in at least a year
@@ShockwaveFPSStudiosIt's just not as if everyone has notifications enabled
🙄Parents have been complaining about video games since the early 90's. Nothibg pushing forward here.
I never expected a dodgy mockbuster product to be in this video in anyway
Title should be Parents Upset Over Bootlegged Console.
Here I was expecting them to be upset over something like Earthbound. If I were a lesser person I'd call this clickbait.
What’s funny is that I was watching the Parents upset over Nintendo DS video when I saw the notification for this video
LMAO the Jungle Book kid is packing some heat. 😂
the nintendo switch wrapped playstation portable / playstation vita got me 😭😭😭
Didnt think chadtronic out of all people would be covering this
IDK the mother seemed very reasonable, sure she bought a product the was obviously the wrong thing, but I don’t think she was angry at any one thing, more so trying to spread awareness to other parents considering buying Mini SNES for their kids, despite the fact that this is something the parents should’ve already been aware of.
The takeaway from this video... GOOD ON the manufacturer for using a super knockoff DIN connector for those controllers, that's pretty dope.
that plug was also used on the atari 2600 and the sega genesis/mega drive
Parents makes mistakes for their kids over Nintendo consoles.
yep.
@@xxsuperproductionsxx138 or parents makes mistakes for their kids over sega consoles only console Microsoft consoles though.
'I believe parents should pay attention to the games they give their kids...'
No sh!t, Sherlock. Being aware of what media your child is consuming and what presents you are gifting them is part of being a responsible parent. Blindly giving your kid a SNES shaped box with over 800 games without questioning its legitimacy (hint: there weren't even 800 SNES games in the US market) then publicly whining about your inability to take accountability is part of being a karen.
chadtropic is back no way
You had me at Shoot Game with Mike Tyson Shoot really that looks normal LOL.
I really like to see adults getting angry at everything for the stupidest reasons
The news guy sounds like Kermit wtf 💀
Not this again
surprised they haven't talked about some of the hentai puzzle games and "Hentai Golf" just flat out on the Switch download shop
But all consoles to grandma is Nintendo!
Jenny Lorenzo has a whole web series playlist dedicated to a character she plays, a Cuban grandma, and even her nephew says she calls everything a Nintendo. Look her up, she's hilarious.

Age is no excuse. I'm 59 and I know what a rom hack is.
Woo, a classic!
I would be too embarrassed to even buy this in a store. Imagine broadcasting it to the entire country saying you were defrauded simply because you feel stupid.
