This old smoke filled bar is something I’m not used to But I gave up my home to see you satisfied And I just called to let you know where I’ll be livin’ It’s not much, but I feel welcomed here inside And I’ve got swingin’ doors, a jukebox, and a barstool And my new home has a flashing neon sign Stop by and see me anytime you want to ‘Cos I’m always here at home til closin’ time I’ve got everything I need to drive me crazy And I’ve got everything it takes to lose my mind And in here, the atmosphere’s just right for heartaches And thanks to you, I’m always here til closin’ time And I’ve got swingin’ doors, a jukebox, and a barstool And my new home has a flashing neon sign Stop by and see me anytime you want to ‘Cos I’m always here at home til closin’ time I’m always here at home til closin’ time
It's definitely none of the Strangers. I asked a former one and he wasn't sure who it was. It's from an old movie: Hillbillys In A Haunted House , so it may be someone the production company used and not a known musician.
Listen to Merle every day. Cant get enough of his music . He is definitely the best singer/songwriter ever.

Must have been tough to sing to such unresponsive people or was that the etiquette in those days? Anyway Merle absolutely perfect as always.
