Merle's haggard did a exellant job as a father And a musician he brought up his boys well with.manners and respect and all them either play guitar or sing that's exellant poor merles gone But his boys are makeing the haggard Name a good one.and makein daddy proud
My Dad had all of Merle's albums! I was the record changer as a kid! Would sit on back porch and sing these songs with my Dad! Those memories are precious!
Love listening to him in the beginning of his career. He changed so much with the years and he just got better. He was the best of the best. I will always love his music.
What a talent ... hard to believe he's gone ... a great lyric: "As kids we were just too young to realize , that another class of people put us somewhere just below ... One more reason for my mama's hungry eyes."
His voice and the way he performed his songs changed through the decades, all were incredible. But these early live videos are the real proof of what a soaring vocalist he was.
A canvas-covered cabin in a crowded labour camp Stand out in this memory I revived 'Cause my daddy raised a family there, with two hard-working hands And tried to feed my mama's hungry eyes He dreamed of something better, and my mama's faith was strong And us kids were just to young to realize That another class of people put us somewhere just below One more reason for my mama's hungry eyes Mama never had the luxuries she wanted But it wasn't 'cause my daddy didn't try She only wanted things she really needed One more reason for my mama's hungry eyes I remember daddy praying for a better way of life But I don't recall a change of any size Just a little loss of courage, as their age began to show And more sadness in my mama's hungry eyes Mama never had the luxuries she wanted But it wasn't 'cause my daddy didn't try She only wanted things she really needed One more reason for my mama's hungry eyes Oh, I still recall my mama's hungry eyes
ONE OF HIS PERFORMANCES IN COLUMBIA SC HE SANG WISH I WAS 30 AGAIN AND YOU COULD HAVE HEARD A PIN DROP WE ALL KNEW HIS TIME WAS SHORT AND DREADED THAT DAY, THERE WAS SINCERE LOVE FOR MELE.
Beautiful and very profound text. Friends and I we recorded this music three days ago as an instrumental cover version. With alto saxophone, clarinet, guitar, e-piano, violin and drums. In Germany at the moment you see many hungry mothers eyes and silent crying. I'm making a video out of it for my channel.👍👍👍👍👍👍🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙
One of great song from Merle's style with Bonnie's nice harmony in my favorite.!!! Thank you so much for great posting to Daniel-san. ... Your good friend, Tadashi
Grew up watching Cousin Herb's Trading Post Show on channel 10 Bakersfield. Merle, Buck, Spade Cooley, the Maddox Brothers and Rose...didn't know what I had until it was gone.

A great song.. not his best performance. Not " real " enough for a Haggard performance. His appearance on Marty Stuart when he was older had more raw emotion and gripped your soul. His son Marty also did a great job with this song.
People forget just how shockingly versatile Merle Haggard was in his Musical prime. In addition to heartrending Ballads he did note perfect hilarious impersonations of Marty Robbins, Hank Snow, Buck Owens, and Johnny Cash. Plus he was a Cover Story of the Jazz Magazine "Downbeat."😂🤔🎤🎼🎵🎶🎸🎹🎻🎷🎺🥁B.W.
I love this song. It touches my heart every time I hear it.
I had a father like that....and my mama always tried to give us the best life
I imagine in heaven,he has a crowd standing around listening to his wonderful singing
❤

This reminds me of my life! This song just kills me!
Love listening to him in the beginning of his career. He changed so much with the years and he just got better. He was the best of the best. I will always love his music.
Whether at the beginning, the middle or the end ... one thing constant for all eternity is that Merle Haggard is the greatest that ever was.
Definitely got better the older he got..
What a talent ... hard to believe he's gone ... a great lyric:
"As kids we were just too young to realize , that another class of people put us somewhere just below ...
One more reason for my mama's hungry eyes."
A lot of people may not realize that line. It was tough as hell for an Okie to make it in the land of promise. Not as easy as one would think.
One of many great songs by Merle. Truly enjoyed!!!
His voice and the way he performed his songs changed through the decades, all were incredible. But these early live videos are the real proof of what a soaring vocalist he was.
Plus he write majority Of his songs

One of his biggies.. A great song off Merle's 1969 album titled "A Portrait of Merle Haggard". One of six albums Merle would release in 1969.
This is probably my all time favorite Hag song... Most of his songs have heart and emotion but, this really hits me!
This is my favorite, but love them all :)

legend
The background singer is Bonnie Owens- Haggard with blond hair.
Probably the saddest country songs ever.
“Just a little loss of courage as their age began to show” if that don’t break your heart.
I like this'n. I might go get me some more. Do they still make em like this anymore? No?
Another great upload my friend. Hope you have a great 4th July Daniel! best wishes, Ali

merle always licked his lips to keep from crying.
Yes
why the h--- did he ever leave Bonnie??
Assuming it to be lip synched since no one in the video is playing the guitar licks we hear.
Anyone else here for a school assignment?
Oh ibu,,,

Did you see merle put the quitar back to move Bonnie back. I don't know she tries to out power merle. Dumb founded me
