Rachel, please don’t cave to the algorithm. You’re one of the only creators that I follow who hasn’t starting making insane thumbnails or thoughtless short form content that lacks depth and nuance. Please don’t sacrifice who you are, your vision, or your authenticity as an artist and a creative.
I second that. The moment creators start 'riding' the algorithm their content very often becomes boring. I mean, I get that it's a job and everyone has to make money. But still...
I couldn't agree more, I won't be pointing names, but there is a well known costumer who people put on a pedestal and since she hit 1kk she is making less and less quality content but more videos that are clearly for views. On the other hand I am following other costumer who does have 1kk subscribers but each of her videos has one third of how much views Rachel's videos get, and I would assume that counts more.
Of course I agree but we should remember that their is a real risk of disappearing if you don't follow the train as a youtuber ... And as a professionnal that's a really important question especially with a new house to pay ... Anyway I love Rachel so much
Let it be known that Rachel is so loved by my child, that her Christmas gifts were a duplicate of Rachel’s dress form & a sewing/crafting space supply & set-up, where she is currently sewing a cloak. If that doesn’t scream love & appreciation for this channel & all its content, nothing does.
Hey, Rachel! Just a friendly reminder: You’ve got 934k of us who love what you do. We’re not going anywhere and more are joining every single day! Your channel will keep growing, I just know it. Happy New Year! ❤️
Yes this! I also think doing what genuinely brings you joy and feels authentic attracts followers and sustains core followers in the stagnant periods. So mentally and business related standpoint it’s the most sustainable option. It’s important to know what the trends are and how things are evolving in the greater picture of UA-cam but ultimately it’s just a loose guideline, not a rule.
Rachel: "I'd rather not be seen wearing this in public" Also Rachel: posts this video on the internet and has 169k ppl see her in red and white stripy pajamas
Honestly, I just like you being you. If you're making a skirt, a shed, an invisibility cloak or washing your car I'd still watch. Please don't get so caught up in worrying what UA-cam wants that you forget to just do you and have fun. If you're not loving what you're doing, it'll show. I love your channel and your personality.
There is a tradition in my family to give each other books on Christmas eve, and then spend the rest if the night reading and eating chocolate. It is the best part of the entire holiday, and no one can tell me otherwise.
I love how Rachel has gone from: -1950s pinup girl, -1940s house wife, -Hobbit residing in the Shire, -Whiskey Grandpa, -to 💫*casual murdering*💫 We love to see character development
@@m.maclellan7147 I loved the one video where she made the animated fighter style game characters which you just reminded be of. I think it was an armour one. I shall now sneak off to find it again.
We live to hear you say "this is one of my favourite things i've made" because we love to see you find joy in what you create! You're an artist and you're wonderful!
I just want to point out that as someone who just began sewing earlier this year I really appreciate that you show that even if the finished product isn't perfect you can be still proud of it. Helps me not to be so strict on myself, because in reality, most people will appreciate that you made something by yourself and won't be like "look how teribble this looks from the inside" or "wow, this seam is really ugly"
@@JW-cvnt honestly, the only person who was critical to me was my grandma, who took a long look at my hem and simply stated that I still have lots to learn. But she used to be a seamstress, she is allowed to criticise as much as she wants to 😀
I admire anyone who is trying out sewing! I've been sewing for many years but I enjoy how Rachel, not knowing how to do something doesn't let that stop her. 👍💞
I just wanted to share that I started a very intimidating job in April and on my first day, the person training me shared her screen to teach me something. I noticed she had one of your videos in her browser tabs. Our friendship began from there lol. I made a wrist pincushion and got her some knee pads to "unlock Floor Troll mode" this Christmas. She loved it. So thanks, Rachel! Your content has sparked a friendship
At the end, when you said "If you're one of those people who constantly watch my videos as they come out, I thoroughly appreciate appreciate you." I got a little weepy and my husband even called out to me "Hey, that's you." and I laughed and just really felt that. Thank you, Rachel. Happy New Year! 🎉
Has Rachel done a cosplay of David Bowie in Labrinth ? (Jared ?!) She would knock it out of the park ! By the way, Rachel - just go back to your "blooper" reels for tic toc or reels ! My absolute favorite film clip is when your sewing machine had eyes 👀 ! I laughed so hard I almost bust a rib ! There are always at least 3 or 4 hijinks per video that could stand alone as video snippets ! Of course, Frodo should be featured heavily ! ♡♡♡♡♡♡♡ P.S. goats are ESCAPE ARTISTS ! I would recommend maybe 3 alpacas ?! They poop in one place (easier to clean up!) And, though they can be affectionate, they are not needy ! Lol ! You DO need to have at least 3 as they are herd animals. You can make SWEATERS OUT OF THEM ! (They get shaved, which doesn't hurt them! But, you do have to find someone to shave them, pay them to sheerthem, then have wool processed at a Mill - unless you want to "dive deep" & learn how to process wool yourself ?! Cause ya need another hobby (but, think of the content! Lol! ) Check local shelters, versus paying crazy $ to a breeder ! The MSPCA has a farm in Methuen, Mass. & the ARL has a farm in Dedham. I am sure there are other rescues as well. DO make sure there is a Veterinarian in your area that is comfortable with camelids ! (Yes, alpacas are from the camel family!) You could also get a Llama, but they can be a LOT bigger & ornery ! Not really a beginner farm animal.
I feel like I never comment but you’re the only reason I go on youtube anymore. Once that notification comes in IM WATCHING IMMEDIATELY (or when im home hehe)! Love you forever and ever!
I love *all* of Rachel's videos, but this one in particular is marvelous. I have chronic pain, and when I watch one of these videos, I think a lot about mirror neurons: watching Rachel creates the sensation of being a happy-go-lucky, healthy, leaping, dancing, smiling, high-kicking human creature. It is a lovely relief from being in the actual disabled body that I have. It's an effect I have only ever gotten from Rachel's videos; I think it is because she is such an expressively mobile person, who constantly poses and dances and otherwise finds joy in motion. It truly does me good to watch you, Rachel, should you ever see this; if you get downhearted about all the fools out there who don't watch, just remember that you are adding immeasurably to the quality of life for all the ones who do! Happy New Year everybody!
The ONLY good thing to come out of this pandemic was my discovering the world of UA-cam costubers-an inspiring, group of wonderfully creative people doing what they love. From a 76-year-old subscriber. Keep doing whatever makes you happy and I'll be happy to watch.
I can’t imagine that I’m the only one who finds channels based on content but stays because of the person. I don’t care what you make, I’ve enjoyed everything and you make me laugh and smile. I knew from the first video I saw of yours, I was gonna be hooked. All that to say, create whatever makes you happy and I’ll be along for the ride!! 💚 That dress was awesome and you looked spectacular!!
That's very true! I have zero interest in cosplay, vintage stuff, and costuming, but Rachel... we just have a personal connection. Even though she doesn't know I exist. In my small eastern European corner of the world 🦐
This is so true!! I was looking for just sewing videos, and I clicked on one of Rachel’s videos and now fast forward a couple weeks I’ve watched the majority of her videos even those that have nothing to do with sewing
Rachel: "I would prefer to not be seen in these PJs... Publicly..." Also Rachel: posts this video for hundreds of thousands of people to view forever Ps the dress looks sooo good ❤️
Rachel, we're still in a pandemic and you moved into a whole house. Goals are flexible, don't be too hard on yourself for not setting out to do what you thought you would in the hellscape that is 2021. Also you look fab in the dress. I look forward to drunken swooshing lol. Lastly, did you know Rita Hayworth was Hispanic? I learned that in a Matt Baume video about Rita Moreno when she talked about there being no leading actresses that looked like her when she was growing up. Made me want to watch the West Side Story remake. If you watched it, please share your thoughts! Much love since 2019. 😉 Edit: This comment has been updated based on some helpful feedback in the comments.
I don't know if that's right 🤔 this is what wiki says: "Her father, Eduardo Cansino, was of Romani descent from Castilleja de la Cuesta, a little town near Seville, Spain. Her mother, Volga Hayworth, was an American of Irish and English descent who had performed with the Ziegfeld Follies."
"I feel like I say that a lot now" That's a sign that you're consistently improving!!!! You're making things you enjoy and experimenting with techniques and it shows!
Idk if you’ll ever read this, but your sewing journey actually inspired me to learn to sew as well. I have frequently found myself saying, “Meh, good enough.” Thanks for making videos and being you!
Same! I was with my sister in Goodwill and found 2 ridiculous long panels of fabric. I told my sis who also watches "I'm pulling a Rachel" and bough the fabric to make a dress, though I'm scared to do so just yet lolllll
I cheat when sewing big triangles: I tetris the pattern so that every other piece has the hem upwards and every other has the waistline upwards. Takes longer than cutting it all folded, but I can maximize my fabric use 💪 I also think your way works, you could save the slim triangles you cut off and sew them in as gores to get more swoosh (as long as the fabric doesn't shine differently upside-down, please learn from my mistakes 🙈)
Absolutely love this dress! Also, I definitely like these longer videos WAY more than shorts… I’d much rather sit down for an afternoon to “catch up” with my favorite UA-camrs (like yourself) than watch a 5-second clip of them modeling something or whatnot 🤷🏼♀️
Thank you for that comment, I could not agree more!!! I so, so love the longer content, too. Like, not too long, nowadays I'm not watching movies anymore haha, but an evening spent with Rachel? ANYTIME! 😀 Shorts and anything tiktok always leaves me wanting more like "wait a minute, what was that detail, that went so fast"!
Rachel, just a reminder that those of us that are here love your content and your personality. It's so easy to be focused on constant growth in todays society but it isn't a bad thing to stop growing as long as you're happy with your community and what you're creating. Be gentle with yourself.
I just bought some fabric from a thrift store for “recycling” purposes too. I was getting frustrated with how hard it is to find interesting colors and patterns in the men’s section and I thought, hey, maybe I’ll take my sewing hobby up a notch and become a floor troll like you :)
when you cut out your large skirt panel and are left with the smaller side piece triangles (Godet) insert those wedges between larger the panels to further flare out the skirt.. maximum swoosh achieved.. dress looks great!!
I was wondering if the fabric had a nap as she could reverse some of the panels and lay them at the sides for the extra panels Rachel wanted. It would have a seam in it but just use for the back or sides.
"And we have fun here!" Always makes me smile because it reminds me of the booth owner in State Fair, with the hoops and the fake prizes; "Step right up folks! We're having fun here!" 😂
Thanks for commenting because I've seen one of your vids and could not for the life of me remember who you were 😂. Not a problem now, because I just subbed. Wife and I look forward to binging your content!
You are a ✨vision!✨ Thank you for sharing this beauty! But more than that thank you so much for sharing your talent & your life & personality with us so consistently! UA-cam has become discouraging to me as a content creator, I know it can be so hard dealing with those feelings you touched on, but I use it so much more now as a viewer to watch & enjoy content like yours, and you are one of my favorite favorite youtubers!! You’re one of the reasons I keep using this platform & I know there are so many thousands of others who will continue to support you and adore you too! You bring so much joy & inspiration into our lives! You work so hard and it doesn’t go unnoticed. ❤️ Crossing my fingers & toes for your million subscriber milestone to happen in 2022! ❤️❤️❤️ (p.s. yay FarmVille! Voice of Marie here - super stoked you’re still working with them! That made me so happy! 🥰)
I agree with Tracy! Rachel you are the best and most open and loving person! You are also so inclusive, joyful and supportive of others. I want you to know that I for 1 will support you in any way I can! You are an amazing, talented, beautiful inside and out person. You make me feel like I have a friend I can count on. That is a gift to be able to make people feel so special. My wish for the new year is that you realize what we all know, you are amazing!!!
Rachel absolutely deserved that high spot in the "UA-camr that'd be a genuinely nice friend" thread and it's so apparent in how real she is in her videos! You've showed me there's no reason to be hard on my own projects over small mistakes, and I can still be proud of myself and my projects regardless of result ♥UA-cam is a scary place but thank you for pushing through and sharing these bits of your life with us, Rachel!! 💕
I remember when you won the NYX awards and as you walked on stage, the presenter said you looked just like Rita Hayworth. And so you do. 😊 The dress turned out beautiful, flaws and all. It doesn't look see through, but like you paid a lot of money for a vintage dress at a boutique. If you wore this to a party or show, I doubt anyone would notice any of the flaws since the one is at the side where your arm would cover it, and the other is at the back where your hair or a scarf or shawl made from the same material would cover this. As far as content and more viewers, all of us have been watching you for years and are devoted to your channel and love your content. I don't have Tik Tok, so hope you don't put all your content over there. Frodo seems to be enjoying the house.
Sometimes when referring to you to people in my real life I’ll say “My friend Rachel”. I don’t have any friends who sew and you’re a huge inspiration to me for doing it myself, I’ve learned a lot from you, and also love your positive and humorous personality. I love your jokes and love “hanging out” with you, my friend Rachel ☺️ (in a non creepy internet friends way lol)
YAY, sewing vid. Rachel, would love to see another painting mural in the house or when you fix up the barn. Loved that tree scenery to painted in the bedroom.
Maybe go and have a chat at a care home ask the ladies an outfit they remember from there younger years and try to recreate then go see them again wearing it and chat some more about their story :)
I honestly love this idea! I recreated a photo of my Nanna from the 1940's and it was so much fun! I only wish she was still around to see it. I can definitely imagine some wholesome reveals with cute little old ladies ooing and aahing over how clever Rachel was at recreating them!
We need to up vote it enough for her to see :) it can be a whole series on the channel it will just be time consuming and you’d need permission to record the older generation in the home but I do think it will be fab, imagine all the stories they have but haven’t told
Leaning back in your chair and hearing the voice of your kindergarten teacher saying you're going to fall but thinking "shit, I'm an adult, I'll do what I want" as you almost fall to your death is a mood.
This dress looks great! Older movies got such swooshie skirts but putting weights in the hems, so I think the swoosh you managed to achieve without that is really incredible!
Rachel: “UA-cam is so freaking unpredictable. That a lot of times I give up trying to figure out what it wants and just do what I want.” Me: OH MAN?! I feel so validated by you saying that! I felt the same way this year. Thank you for saying it out loud! Also, this came out great! Flaws and all! I wouldn’t have noticed if you hadn’t said anything.
Rachel, me, as a person platonically in love with everything you're doing and stand for; in the name of 110% of the people here can say with confidence: do whatever makes you happy, as often as you want to! whatever you put out on this platform and on others, we will eat it all up, like the kid did the entire confection of the chocolate cake in Matilda!! TL:DR: you are the cheese for our crackers! and we love you no matter what! don't lose hope, people who want to bring you down are already below you! talking about cheese... :D
Kelsey Rodriguez divides her goals and puts things not totally unter her control (like the amount of subscribers) as „predictions“- she has a whole video about setting goals (how to set realistic goals for your art career I think, just recently) she also has three different possible outcomes with which she can still kind of be satisfied when she doesn’t hit the high number. I think that’s really smart and helps to lower the pressure and keeping the focus on the things you actually can control
I hope I got it right ^^ her channel is definitely worth checking out, she is an artist and her content is quiet art related but with tips and ideas for planning, staying on track, and that with her confident realism
I've recently seen a lot of UA-camrs stressed out by algorithms and the pressure to post content regularly. I really hope you give yourself a break, don't be too hard on your self. You are one of the UA-camrs who got me into sewing and exploring my own style which is giving me so much joy and confidence now. Thank you for this! I hope you feel validation of your work.
Honestly everything you're doing right now and the things you said you want to get back into (cosplay, vintage, character mash-ups) are extremely enjoyable to me! You're my favorite youtuber and I just want you to know that your joy for making brings me joy as well, so please make whatever you want whenever you want!
Yeah, farm ville is so relaxing that my 60 years old grandma was diagnosed with computer addiction after 5 years of playing it for at least 14 hours a day (not kidding, she even had withdrawal symptoms when the internet was out)……. Truly wonderful game…….
As a former professional seamstress, I just want to tell you that you are doing a magnificent job, and "meh, good enough" is peak awesomeness! Happy New Year, and I'm looking forward to Saturday, because Rachel Jokes are a small joy in my life and right now we take what we can get.
Definitely need a new series of you and Nick making your new farmhouse yours. I loved your interior design videos with the last house. And I really think that you came up with unique ideas. I would of never thought about painting trees on my bedroom walls but I can't wait until I own my own home so I can. And the all seasons porch was amazing. Now that you have a huge yard I think you should attempt to make a hobbit house on your property and feel free to dm me for how we made ours as kids lol
I think that this is an awesome idea. I found Rachel through her sunroom renovation video and I was sitting here with my mouth open at how tasteful (imho) and creative she and Nick furbished and decorated it. I am dreaming of a house and garden like theirs and would LOVE to watch anything they do with and to it and are willing to share :D
I see the words Bluey plush and I turn into that SpongeBob meme watching the background cause it’s never off the tv cause my darling niece loves Bluey so much
ahhh, slinky, slippery, and stretchy… three snow white dwarves who ended up in the cutting room floor. love you no matter how many youtube followers you have or have not - goals can be hard when it depends upon the actions of others. thanks for being you and creating beautiful things!
My husband is becoming a fan because he's in the room when I watch, and he generally sneaks a peek. This time around, he especially loves your hair, Rachel. And the dress is gorgeous!
I realize that as I'm typing this 3 days after the video was uploaded means Rachel likely wont see it, but do I care? No. I genuinely look forward to all your videos, your personality, your creativity and effort, the immaculate editing, the vibes, everything is just incredible. I can count on one hand the amount of youtube creators that I make sure to watch every video from. This is one of those channels, you are one of those creators. I know I'm not the only one that feels that way. You've cultivated such an active audience it's incredible. Although you haven't yet reached a million subscribers, you have done something I believe to be far more impressive. You've truly created a community, that's something that not a lot of popular creators can say. The fact that this community is nice and lovely and very informative is an added bonus of course. You'll reach a million shortly, in the meantime, don't forget all that you've already accomplished!
Girl, I have thoughts: 1) the skill and confidence with which you rolled into this speak to how your sewing has progressed. I dream of picking up a skill this quickly 2) don't sweat that 1M number. It coming we all know that. Besides your content style breeds loyal followers, not the type to flit in and out. 3) I got sucked into UA-cam shorts for a while, but honestly it was insanely addictive without teaching me anything. Just a time suck. I'm personally not a fan of that style, but I get it, you have to roll with the punches a bit. 4) thanks for posting a day early, you got me through a cardio session I desperately didn't want to do. 😘
Rachel's videos are one of the only reasons I watch UA-cam. Her content is always so wholesome and I hope that she can feel all of the love and appreciation from the community she has grown on here.
@@Sincyn241 my very first "project" was garbage, literally lol Just used a couple scraps of thrifted bedsheet to practice stitches on. My second and first actual project was using most of the rest of that bedsheet to make a quick petticoat. The waistband is a mess because I didn't use a pattern but it's a perfectly functional apron closure petticoat! Next project is a couple of throw pillow cases out of cheap flannel, and when I finish those I get to do fabric shopping for a flannel petticoat (my office is freezing cold lol), some light wool to flip a skirt I thrifted that turned out to be too small, and possibly some more wool for a couple of cozy shawls. My goal is to have a rumor started in my office building that I'm actually a ghost. ☺️
@@brigittaalbares3417 Tleast you are making an effort. It takes practice but you will be making all kinds of things before you know it. You have done the hard part, taking the first step to begin.I was lucky to have a Mom who taught me to sew when I was eight. I have been sewing ever since. My favorite is costumes. Good luck and happy sewing.
I would love to see some decorating your house videos too… really loved watching your sun room makeover and I’d love to get inspired as you settle into your new place. ☺️
on the topic of your fears about your channel fading out of popularity: i for one will always continue watching your videos. i know it might not be much because i’m only one person but that’s at least one guaranteed subscriber and viewer. your videos have helped my through one of the hardest times in my life and i am forever grateful to you for sharing your little pockets of joy with us. you have brightened my life more than i thought possible and i doubt that any of your loyal fans will leave, myself included.
Honestly... I feel your pain. I absolutely hate this turn towards short form content. It's removes the whole point of entertainment in my opinion. And as someone who enjoys making short films and long gaming content... It is painful to see that type of stuff get ignored for the convince of second long videos that people will watch to "save time" only to scroll through so many of them of them, that they could've just watched that one 20 minute video. I do think that short stuff has its place... But not on youtube. It's made it so much harder to grow an audience that it physically hurts. Anyhow... All this to say that I get where you're coming from and I wish you luck.
PS: The self-doubt is just (unfortunately) part of being an artistic type. I’m an artist & was the “sports girl” growing up like you. You’re more amazing than you think you are. Hope family member feels better soon.
Loved the “*Not a Dramatization* scene! Poor Rachel, finally no more close neighbours to hide from but now as a homeowner she has to hide from tradespeople! Also I loved the conversation! You DID nail it! I also just bought a massive hoard of books (mine were boho/scandi design books!). Would it be to crazy to turn one of your spare rooms into a specific sewing room? I know you have a workshop already but this one could have very cushy floors & floor pillows for floortrolling, your sewing machine & a TV to watch while sewing!
You and your puppy are the highlights of my UA-cam viewing experience, Rachel! I value your incredible ability, vulnerability, and creativity. There's almost a million people here who agree with me. Please read all the supportive messages and love on the days you're feeling discouraged, and know that you are a bright spot in an often very dark world.
You should make and do what you're interested in doing first and foremost! I'm excited for what you have in store in the coming year, your videos are always a highlight in my week so thank you so much for all you do
I'm very excited to see where your heart takes you in the new year! Whether it's cosplay, vintage, gaming, etc. or even just a chill relaxing video/break when you need it! I'm ready to see where your journey takes you next year (and years beyond 2022)
Rachel, I love all your video's ( is that proper UA-cam lingo?) whether it is or not, the feeling should be clear, I love what you do! I can't even begin to express how much joy, laughter and happiness you bring to me, and so many others. I don't know how important it is to you to stretch yourself thin and do all the things, like shorts etcetera. Can we maybe all vote on it? And, maybe give a topic we want to see. If you like an idea then you can do it,, and you get ideas of what your loyal fan/ friends want to see. I want to see more of your fun videos! The cos play is fun, teaching us new fun things is great. I for one would like to see how to use the molding foam/ clay ?? and other cool stuff you use. I like to see you paint ( like your mural) . I would have enjoyed very much the book store trip! We could read a book you choose at the beginning of the month and you can talk about it and we can ask about it online, like when people ask and you answer questions. I am on a rant, because I don't want you to burn out. I love your vintage stuff. Just you and your natural stuff is really good. I want you to reach your goals. I want you to be happy. I don't want to see you in tiny little clips. I think you have so much to offer and just digging into what you love will bring in new people. Anyway, happy New Year🤗 I love your new home. You look very beautiful and happy in your space. We will all love( I do) seeing you do wonderful things in your new home. Love all you give us and the joy you bring 😄, Audri
HAPPY NEW YEARS EVERYONEEEE Also to add, i like long form content a lot more than short form content. I'll very happily watch any form of content that you create though- I'm here for Rachel content no matter what!!
The youtube content that I got the most joy from was the "Jenna Marbles" type, pure doing whatever she wanted. Feel like everybody in that situation was just enjoying themselves!
Absolutely Jenna was a pure joy to watch because she was authentic.. some of that might be because she filmed and edited on the same day, so she had 6 days off of youtube each day(well off her main channel) so she couldn't over analyze her videos or they would never get posted. But alot was because she made the very active choice from the beginning to just be herself and post what made her happy.
Honestly same , i wish we could've gotten more of jenna just having fun and doing what she wanted but even so, I'm glad rachel is going down that route too, it's definitely more enjoyable to watch
Rachel really out here providing me with pure serotonin almost every week. These videos just really give the a reason to get through the sludge that is my week
Rachel, I'm 53 years old and I too make that same face when someone knocks on my door or actually calls my phone! Every time!! I can only hope I look that cute. Have been enjoying your videos all year. Thank you for all the hard work your putting into each video. I really enjoy them. I wish you and Nick and your channel good luck in the New Year. Happy New Year!
After seeing this, I had to look up a clip to see the swooshy dress. At first i thought "That dress isn't too swooshy." But then they started dancing and I went "OHHHHHH THERE'S THE SWOOSH!" Especially the last bit where she spins and leans on the pillar. Truly amazing. Thank you
ngl, I don't usually even click on the "youtube shorts" videos, and I wouldn't touch tiktok with a 40ft pole. Keep making the videos YOU want to make, cause that's what I want to watch!
I found you through the "hip dip" video. Since then I've stuck around for every piece of content you've made. You could sit down and talk about your favorite books, dress up Frodo, or make a spiderman doll to reside with the baby Yoda, and I'd still be here. I come to enjoy you, as a wholesome, sweet human being, and I am simply glad that you have shared yourself, your time, your skills, and your joys with us. You have brought me so much peace and joy and inspiration, for this I thank you heartily.
I don't sew much, but I crochet a LOT. My grandma taught me when I was four, so theoretically I should have no excuse/reason not to churn out perfect, pretty patterns on the first try, right? Well, no. Crafting is and should always be a skill you are constantly growing and improving, and we learn by making mistakes, which sometimes turn into happy accidents and sometimes turn into bin items. It's so, so great that you still post your work even when it's not perfect. In fact, that not-perfect work normalizes that you don't have to make something that is perfect in every way just to enjoy it. My favorite blanket I ever made was a joint effort with a group of people - we were giving it as a gift to an older student who was graduating - and none of the other members of the group knew how to crochet. There were knots, skipped stitches, and so many other issues I can't even list them all, but everyone tried really hard and even though they weren't picture perfect in following my demos and instructions, it turned out beautifully. We even decided to highlight our favorite "how the hell did that happen?" moments in the blanket by 'stitching' around it in another color to make it look like the blanket had been to hell and back. And, tbh, it had. But the girl still has her blanket on her bed or couch and still uses it almost 7 years later, I see it in the background of her FB posts all the time. It wasn't perfect, but it was exactly right for what we wanted to accomplish. So don't get down on yourself, and keep posting as long as it makes you happy. I know it makes me and so many others happy to see new content and to rewatch the old. 🥰
you should collab with a more "professional" historical seamstress like Morgan Donner or Bernadette Banner and have them make an outfit/costume with historical methods and you can do a more vintage-inspired version of it
In these *complicated* times, I must say that waking up on Saturdays knowing I'll get a nice cup of coffee plus a delightful video from you has become a nice, sweet little ritual before taking on the weekend and my own sewing projects. So THANK YOU Rachel, and I wish you the best for next year!
Last year, I was forced to temporarily give up my job due to burn out. I'm still not back. I love my job, but the situation of overworking the remaining staff had become so bad that I just couldn't anymore. During all this time, your videos have really helped me see how great it is to do what you like to do. Don't worry about subscribers or anything. You're doing what you love. That's the most important thing. Every single subscriber here loves you and enjoys your videos. Sending much love from Germany!
FYI Rachel: If the police show up, it'll be due to your roofer alerting them to your apparent captive status. I too have appeared captive-ish in the past due to the "scuttle -n- hide" maneuver. If Nick requires bail money, hmu 🤣 Great episode, as Always 💖
Casual viewer saying Hi! ☺ I moved out and downsized, sewing & cosplay was a casualty because I don't have the space or materials anymore. I love rediscovering sewing and fun dress up content on YT, it brings me joy.
You shouldn’t have to pander to UA-cam. Make the content you like making because then it shows the “real” you (to a certain extent) and that will attract the people who are likeminded. It only took 1 of your videos to convince me to follow you and I haven’t regretted it once! Keep doin you boo. ♥️
Funny that your viewer growth got stagnant during summer, bc that's when I found your channel and hell am I glad, you're now one of my favorite youtubers out there, definitely top 3 if not no. 1 :') Numbers don't always say everything, I swear, your content is GOLD to a lot of us! qwality before qwantiy I'd say and on that note: thank you so much for keeping us well entertained throughout this tough time, you're a wonderful human being! Watching your videos makes my heart warm :]
I think here in the USA the Rona seemed to let up and we escaped our houses like rats from sinking ships. (Not necessarily wisely!) And now, we're all scurrying back indoors trying to escape the big Omicron wave !
You keyed in on the magic words. "Making content that makes you happy" should be your only goal. When you are happy that inspires all of us.🌈🌸💝. That said all feelings are appropriate and you are loved...just...as...you...are. Peace Rachel, Nick and Frodo.🕊🕊🕊
Rachel, I just wanted to say that your content has 1000% been getting me through for the last like, three years. Not only that, but it has let me give myself permission to dress in a way that brings me joy and best expresses my inner world (which means I, too, look like an Edwardian Hobbit 97% of the time and it’s a JOY OK). While short form content is enjoyable, none of it brings a smile to my face like your videos do. So idk if this was like too cheesy or whatevs but just know I adore you and your content V much and I can’t wait for more to come!! Also Ps this dress could NOT be more stunning. The swoosh of dreams 10/10 🙏🙏🙏🙏
I'm excited for the possibility of more Butt Nekkid Vintage, but honestly I'm more excited for literally any new content from Rachel. I will admit, I do sometime store videos up to watch at a leisurely pace with a coffee, so I might not always catch them as soon as they come out, but I do love binging them.
What's weird about this thumbnail?
@@nittygritty7034 Rachel's on this video? Nothing. And that's great.
Of course I agree but we should remember that their is a real risk of disappearing if you don't follow the train as a youtuber ... And as a professionnal that's a really important question especially with a new house to pay ...
Anyway I love Rachel so much
Petition for another “Rachel editing herself into movie scenes” for 2022
I loved the Pride and Prejudice one and laughed until I cried!
Hahaha, I would love to pick "A 90s Christmas family movie but it's 1890s" by Karolina Zebrowska
My sister sent me the pride and prejudice one and it killed me :)
I hate that movie and even so I looved that edit, so yes to this!
Yes yes yes please!
Let it be known that Rachel is so loved by my child, that her Christmas gifts were a duplicate of Rachel’s dress form & a sewing/crafting space supply & set-up, where she is currently sewing a cloak. If that doesn’t scream love & appreciation for this channel & all its content, nothing does.
stop that's so fuckin adorable
My 10 year old loves watching with me and then either makes her own outfits or pieces components together inspired by Rachel's styles. ❤
This made me smile really big. How precious 😊
Indeed, fangirl to the core.
that's so my daughter too, she's 13
Hey, Rachel! Just a friendly reminder: You’ve got 934k of us who love what you do. We’re not going anywhere and more are joining every single day! Your channel will keep growing, I just know it. Happy New Year! ❤️
Just what I wanted to say. :)
THIS!!!
YES!!! Keep creating what you want to create and love Rachel! Your content is amazing
So true!
Rachel: *is discouraged*
Me: *has watched every single moment of content with no intention of stopping*
I have also watched everything, and love it.
I agree.
My daughter has watched every episode too. Rachel, your content brings my kid joy, I love that. Thank you for being you.

Exactly. Just avoid eye contact at all cost 😎.
I now want to be adopted by your family.
That's incredible 😳
Wow I love this so much
That sounds so lovely 😍
Thats such a great tradition
I love how Rachel has gone from:
-1950s pinup girl,
-1940s house wife,
-Hobbit residing in the Shire,
-Whiskey Grandpa,
-to 💫*casual murdering*💫
We love to see character development
Would someone just make her a video game already ?! ;)
@@m.maclellan7147 I don't even play video games but I 10/10 would play a Rachel Maksy inspired game!!!!!
This comment was hysterical!
She really is. I wish I were as talented.
Same here!! I appreciate it so much too, thanks for all you do, Rachel!! :D
I've been sewing since the 90's and I never learned this until Rachel showed me it was ok - I'm eternally grateful! :)
if anyone is commenting that the inside seams of something you made are bad or wrong they’re simply looking to hard and they’re too close to you :)
This is such a wholesome comment! That’s wonderful. 😊 I’m sick of hearing bad news.
Super 👍🏻 ! La solidarité et l’envie de créer et partager 👏🏻😊
This is super cute omg
“How do I keep spilling coffee on myself?” Rachel asks herself while holding a coffee cup WITH A LID

Same and more! I watch Rachel's videos again and again. I just think she's a great introvert and I relate. Plus, I love her projects.

“You remind me of the babe”
“What babe?”
Rachel. Rachel Maksy. That babe.
P.S. goats are ESCAPE ARTISTS ! Lol! )
Check local shelters, versus paying crazy $ to a breeder ! The MSPCA has a farm in Methuen, Mass. & the ARL has a farm in Dedham. I am sure there are other rescues as well. DO make sure there is a Veterinarian in your area that is comfortable with camelids ! (Yes, alpacas are from the camel family!)
You could also get a Llama, but they can be a LOT bigger & ornery ! Not really a beginner farm animal.
Came here to say this! 😀
Follow your passion, please don’t worry. Let it flow to your own beat and just have fun ! That’s when we have fun with you ❤❤❤❤❤

I also go to youtube because of Rachel she is so down to earth smart and she tells it like it is and some haters hate for no reason to many CARENS.
52 yo subscriber. Exactly to the “doing what they love” comment. ❤️

In my small eastern European corner of the world 🦐
Definately true :)
This is so true!! I was looking for just sewing videos, and I clicked on one of Rachel’s videos and now fast forward a couple weeks I’ve watched the majority of her videos even those that have nothing to do with sewing
3:14 That day, she was amazed to discover that when he was saying “As you wish... mama” what he meant was “I luv you, mama.”
Rachel: "I would prefer to not be seen in these PJs... Publicly..."
Also Rachel: posts this video for hundreds of thousands of people to view forever
Ps the dress looks sooo good ❤️
So funny, but adorable and I feel like a V.I.P. It's for our eyes only 😄
Rachel love your PJs and if some critics don't like is to bad you are you and I like you just the way you are never give in to would be critics

Idk if you’ll ever read this, but your sewing journey actually inspired me to learn to sew as well. I have frequently found myself saying, “Meh, good enough.” Thanks for making videos and being you!
same here :D
Same! I was with my sister in Goodwill and found 2 ridiculous long panels of fabric. I told my sis who also watches "I'm pulling a Rachel" and bough the fabric to make a dress, though I'm scared to do so just yet lolllll
Me too!
I sing 'Good Enough' in her voice all the time🤣
@@honestlynope6599 Me too! 🤣
I agree, I made a mistake of cutting fabric once the way Rachel did, it was a learning process, I hope Rachel takes her lesson too :)
How to be thrifty? do the tetris thing!
I hope I'm not the only one who loves sitting down for a lovely 20-40 minute video with my favorite 'tubers. Long live long content!
Sewing, painting walls, sewing and hanging curtains or projects around the house.... I would love to see any of that🙃
Rachel, just a reminder that those of us that are here love your content and your personality. It's so easy to be focused on constant growth in todays society but it isn't a bad thing to stop growing as long as you're happy with your community and what you're creating. Be gentle with yourself.
this is so true. 💟
I just bought some fabric from a thrift store for “recycling” purposes too. I was getting frustrated with how hard it is to find interesting colors and patterns in the men’s section and I thought, hey, maybe I’ll take my sewing hobby up a notch and become a floor troll like you :)
Something I like to do is thrift women's clothing that I like and make sure it's too big for me. then I edit/upcycle it so it's a men's cut lol
when you cut out your large skirt panel and are left with the smaller side piece triangles (Godet) insert those wedges between larger the panels to further flare out the skirt.. maximum swoosh achieved.. dress looks great!!
Or cut a proper circle (or half circle) skirt without panels for severely decreased sewing work.
Yes! Insert godets for extra swoooosh!
We're having fun here!" 😂
I’d watch you stitching leaves together while throwing out Brendan Fraser quotes tbh
Now i want her to make this lol!!
Honestly that sounds like a banger of a video

Nope, not the presenter. The person who compared Rachel to Rita was Ve Neill, Oscar-winning make-up artist!

Couldn't be me panicking because I thought somehow life has skipped to Friday because Rachel uploading is apparently how my brain calendar works.
I've recently seen a lot of UA-camrs stressed out by algorithms and the pressure to post content regularly. I really hope you give yourself a break, don't be too hard on your self. Although you haven't yet reached a million subscribers, you have done something I believe to be far more impressive. You've truly created a community, that's something that not a lot of popular creators can say. The fact that this community is nice and lovely and very informative is an added bonus of course.
You'll reach a million shortly, in the meantime, don't forget all that you've already accomplished!
beautiful words, I couldnt agree more. I always look forward to seeing Rachel. ❤
Have you ever thought about creating historical outfits and telling the stories of actual people? Like real person vintage cosplay
Vote this up, what an awesome idea!!!!
Rachel's videos are one of the only reasons I watch UA-cam. Her content is always so wholesome and I hope that she can feel all of the love and appreciation from the community she has grown on here.
I second that!!! ❤
I love how perfect doesn't get in the way of done here. It is real and accessible and inspiring. Thank you Rachel!
Right? Her videos are one of the main reasons I got brave and bought a sewing machine in November 😁
@@brigittaalbares3417 That’s so cool! Congrats! What was/will be your first project(s)?
@@brigittaalbares3417 That’s so cool!
I would love to see some decorating your house videos too… really loved watching your sun room makeover and I’d love to get inspired as you settle into your new place. ☺️
yes and The Bedroom makeover with Trees etc !
If she wants to to invite another UA-cam person to help decorate/build, there are a couple of gals I would recommend!
Whenever I'm stressed I watch your videos and they take me to a simpler time. I have fun here.
All us older fans trying not to be triggered by the dial up sound! Also it’s really very cheering seeing you with natural light on your face ☺️
on the topic of your fears about your channel fading out of popularity:
i for one will always continue watching your videos. i know it might not be much because i’m only one person but that’s at least one guaranteed subscriber and viewer. your videos have helped my through one of the hardest times in my life and i am forever grateful to you for sharing your little pockets of joy with us. you have brightened my life more than i thought possible and i doubt that any of your loyal fans will leave, myself included.
Same!! I love everything u put out
Same here. You can count on me. Love everything. I wish you the best. Happy New Year.
Me too! So many of us are here for you, and for as long as you're happy to make content, we'll be happy to watch it!
Rachel,
I love all your video's ( is that proper UA-cam lingo?) whether it is or not, the feeling should be clear, I love what you do!
Love all you give us and the joy you bring 😄,
Audri
HAPPY NEW YEARS EVERYONEEEE
Also to add, i like long form content a lot more than short form content. I'll very happily watch any form of content that you create though- I'm here for Rachel content no matter what!!
Happy new year to you! From a fellow long video fan🤭
Me too!
Hail long form content!
Another long content fan too 😊
Agreed 💯!
The youtube content that I got the most joy from was the "Jenna Marbles" type, pure doing whatever she wanted. Feel like everybody in that situation was just enjoying themselves!
Yes! I love to watch people just being happy doing what they love too. 💓
My "swooshiest" dress has to be the Shall We Dance dress in "The King and I".
Thank you
@@jessicabraud3307 it has SURPRISE SWOOSH!!!!
I just realized that's the dress that pops into my head when I think of ballroom dresses and dancing.
ngl, I don't usually even click on the "youtube shorts" videos, and I wouldn't touch tiktok with a 40ft pole.
you should collab with a more "professional" historical seamstress like Morgan Donner or Bernadette Banner and have them make an outfit/costume with historical methods and you can do a more vintage-inspired version of it
Oh, I like this idea. Decade Dresses. A prompt (roses, or pumpkins, etc), and Rachel does a vintage take (1940s) and they go further back (1840s).
I would Love to see the two seperate "takes" on a theme.
I think she has done something with Bernadette before if you check Bernadette’s channel for it
In these *complicated* times, I must say that waking up on Saturdays knowing I'll get a nice cup of coffee plus a delightful video from you has become a nice, sweet little ritual before taking on the weekend and my own sewing projects.
Oh my gosh that made me laugh
@@tigerlilytarot2402 I'm so glad! I love when people laugh, thank you for letting me know 💖😊
What I should be doing: Sleeping
What I am doing: Watching Rachel's newest video
Same! :)
same!!
Same here, I was literally closing my laptop 25 minutes ago when notification came in 😅
No way me too! Lol
same it's nearly half one in the morning in the UK right now...
Casual viewer saying Hi! ☺
I moved out and downsized, sewing & cosplay was a casualty because I don't have the space or materials anymore.
Numbers don't always say everything, I swear, your content is GOLD to a lot of us! qwality before qwantiy I'd say and on that note: thank you so much for keeping us well entertained throughout this tough time, you're a wonderful human being! Watching your videos makes my heart warm :]
I’m in the same boat! I found this channel this summer and have been telling everyone about it since. I can’t get enough of it!!! 🤓
I think here in the USA the Rona seemed to let up and we escaped our houses like rats from sinking ships. (Not necessarily wisely!)
And now, we're all scurrying back indoors trying to escape the big Omicron wave !
