- The Perro de Presa Canario has a calm appearance and attentive expression. He is especially suited to guarding and traditionally used for herding cattle.
A moderately large-sized molossoid, with a rectilinear profile and black mask, the Perro de Presa Canario is robust and well-proportioned. With a low, deep bark, he has a balanced temperament and is very self-confident. Obedient and docile with family members, he is very devoted to his master, but can be suspicious of strangers. When alert, his stance is firm and vigilant.

Love the documentary, I myself own a Presa from Socal Presa and I couldn't be happier. Our presa is very well balanced female .We have small children but needed a home gurdian. She is loving with us her family, does great out in public but is no joke when it comes to strangers around our home, she has a high pray drive , She is extremely protective of us. She is a beautiful beast will turn heads everywhere we go. Elishua does a great job at bredding this dogs. He socializes with them since birth and does not have his dogs locked up in kennels like other breeders. The way his dogs are raised since birth is what gives them the confidence and well balanced temperament they have . I would not go anywhere else for a Presa Canario.
if you want a real home guardian, they don't do any working tests therefore they aren't properly breeding dogs who guard. A dog who barks isn't the same as one who will handle pressure from a stranger. They're a fine pet breeder but definitely would never get a presa from them if I planned on legitimately get a presa from someone who actually selects for it.

There is a huge difference between a house pet, a farm dog, a guard dog and a hunting dog.
Presa canario we're bred to be working farm dogs and are now MOSTLY bred to be house pets..
This video explains it as" the modern world" while others consider it ruining the breed
I'm just learning about the dog now. I want a larger dog. I've always had Labradors, hunterways, and bordacollies. Been a farmer. I also need a more stock friendly dog. Want a bullmastiff but to many people think they are to dangerous around cows/calfs so I've had to drop that idea

If you train a presa or a bull mastiff from 3 months old to be around cows, the dog and the cows will get along fine .
Some people will keep a dog run l inside a cow pen , or duck pen , or whatever, so the dogs are used to having animals moving around them on all four sides.
If the dogs has cows around it from 3 months old , they are not inclined to get excited by a cow.
And in turn, the dog will not agitate the cows.
Bull mastiff or Corso would probably be more calm than a presa in general , but a presa is more inclined to stay by your side all day on a farm

We got our girl Tigra from SoCalPresa last December and couldn’t be happier. We still keep in contact with Elijah, he has been a great resource for us as she grows. He’s always willing to share his advice and experience. He genuinely cares about all of his puppies and makes sure they’re ready for their new home. Our presas temperament is ideal for us, she is so sweet and cuddly with us and protective of us. She has a natural guardian instinct patrolling our property and always by our side watching our backs. Highly intelligent and intuitive dog, we love her so much.
I lost my beautiful girl presa April 2022, she was just 10 yrs old. She was the best guard dog I’ve ever seen in my life. I miss her everyday!

What's up Zeke? I'm so glad you did another Presa vid. Yeah man I love my dogs. Presa's are awesome, after having many different breeds over the years I got my 1st Presa in 2005. I've been a Presa only man since around 2012 had quit a few. We have 11 Presa's in my family. I keep 2 at my home for safety. 😁 They are the right breed for me. No mater what dog breed you choose. Choose the dog for you and train the dog for it's purpose. Much Love to all the dog people. 💯

Awesome video and awesome dogs. Bane is such a stud. Glad to have his son socalpresa Gotti. Absolute calm temperament and the best dog I've ever owned. You can tell Elijah is passionate about the dogs and what he does and it shows in all his dogs and happy owners.

Beautiful dog. Looks like my Corso which I bought to guard my home. She is a dork with family and friends. However, I did not need to train her a whole lot to guard. And when 2 dogs came at us while walking, she was able to eliminate the problem quickly w/o having to kill. She stopped attacking as soon as these dogs took off (returned to my side immediately). It was a beauty to behold. Very grateful for these amazing animals.

Socal Presa is where I'm going to be getting my puppy from. Love their content, what they are about, and how they treat and raise their dogs. If you are in the process of looking at different breeders make sure you do your homework on them. Make sure they have real and reliable customers. Not some ghetto fabulous website with ridiculously nasty presas that are locked up in cages all day long. If you're looking for a cheap dog that is overly aggressive keep scrolling through the rest of the comments. I'm sure there is a Hater on here that is more than willing to take your money.

I just inherited a 2 year old male Presa Canario Mastiff, I was intimidated at first but I have been around large dog breeds. He was living at a construction office, He was never trained to walk properly. My dad used a golf cart.... So his walking training starts now, He has the best temperament so far. He is VERY VERY VERY strong and that is why i have made his training a priority for me. Luckily he is already socialized or this probably would not even be possible. I also inherited a Great Dane which is a more intelligent dog but also more aggressive, I have my work cut out for me.

Getting my first presa today and I've been so deep in presa lore and research, I've only owned gsd and malinois so this is a big step up!
Really great video featuring SoCal Presa once again thank you for posting and I have to say Elijah looked comfortable in front of the camera.
Our first SoCal Presa Ash has been incredible.
Matter fact after talking to Elijah we have determined that we would like another one and I’ll be picking up Bishop end of July.
We have quite a few large dogs at home but recently lost our English mastiff.
We know nothing can replace Moose but we are so looking forward to having baby bishop run around the yard with his future siblings
On a sidenote as much as I liked this episode with SoCal could you please revisit your Caucasian Shepard (ovcharka) Video and maybe find a different breeder or person to show off the breed.
From our research I think some of what he said wasn’t quite true and misrepresented the breed.
We picked up our female ,Sacha from Royal Caucasion Shepards in Michigan and she is one of most incredible examples of this large breed that I’ve ever seen

I just got myself a 6 month old presa canario 4 days ago,im so excited for our future journey together.ive had multiple pitbulls,a husky, a rottwieler,doberman, german sheppsrd in my life,but this is going to be the biggest dog ive ever had,i know its gonna take alot of work for me to let her know whos boss and im ready for it.😊

Great video! And fantastic, realistic, information. I grew up in a home that doubled as a dog rescue for large breeds, and those deemed aggressive by the county. The goal was always rehabilitation, and eventually adoption... but some of those dogs stayed with us permanently. One of those, was a Presa named Lizzie. As a 4 year old, I could be turned loose in the woods, alone, as long as I took Lizzie with me. She would literally pull me away from danger, and worst case scenario I could ride her home like a horse. But... God help anyone that came to close to me.
I recommend ONLY for experienced owners.

My Presa has helped my 3 yr old niece up after bumping into her and knocking her over. The same dog literally ripped a wall out of a brand new tent when me and the wife were out camping, I woke up hearing something and became on guard, he looked at me and instantly went into action. About 7 raccoons were outside trying to get into my cooler and car and he just ran through the tent, just posted up and snarled, that was the end of that. The same dog is also afraid of his own farts and acts like a ghost poked his bum when it happens so I'm still a little on the fence about them.

As an owner of 2 American Pitbull Terriers/Am Staffs for 12 years, I always said my dogs would help ya carry my belongings out the door if you broke in my place. From what I've gathered, Presas are more like Rotties & Corsos when it comes to their territory. Wish their life expectancy was longer. Kangals & Alabais can live to 14 - 15.

That is because your presa is not watered down! I wonder if these dogs ( dam/sire) from this kennel are protectiontested with a decoy suit before breeding! Mabey they are crossed with golden retrievers to go to dogparks and make friends all day! Just give me a "hot" dog any day! They are the Presas who really protect you! Not the showlines/modernlines!

Are presses what I would call a "chill but will" dog? Does a Presa escalate as a situation escalates or does it just jump Billy badass on whatever it thinks is a threat? Like could they be chilling with everybody and recognize that something's a threat and handle it appropriately, like with a warning first and then if the person doesn't back off then they'll do some of it? You know what I mean like they be chill but they will kick ass if they need to, right?
What is classed as modern Presa canerio? Looks like they mixed other stuff in there to increase the size and height. Couple of years ago on same channel they put Title XL Presa Canerio
This is a mutt Canario. It's not a full Presa. Look at the head shape and color.
My boy is soft as a brush. I can take him anywhere. Hes friendly, in general, BUT he knows when I feel uneasy and then he's on full guard! When he's with my 8 year old son NO STRANGER can come close. He will put himself between and he means business!

Mix a rotti with a Stafford shire terrier and they look awesome and they are healthier since it is a mix breed.
