    I have a Presa who just turned 5 last week. Overall she is absolutely the best dog I've ever owned. The natural instinct to be protective of the property and wary of strangers, even without any formal protection training, is amazing. And with proper socialization you can still turn these big, scary beasts into massive cuddle hounds when with friends and family.

    You left out the Velcro syndrome. You won't ever go to the bathroom or shower alone again. You HAVE to be on point in public, amazing dogs but when set off they are a true force to be reckoned with. They will also clear out an entire park since people think they look scary especially with cropped ears. Still the best dog I've ever had.

    My Presa male is 15 months. Smart, super affectionate velcro dog. We live on an acre in a rural area, so no neighbors to deal with, but when someone stops over he goes ballistic. Presas are no joke.

      Taking them to a store with a badge on them that says “ask to pet” or “do not approach” works wonders. I kept treats in my pocket and took my boy to lowes for people and parks for other dogs.

    Don't let their size let you think they can't jump a 7ft fence because when determined to get to you nothing is an obstacle, my presa has jumped my fence twice to get to me while I'm in the garage so now I have to bring her with me so she doesn't break a leg.

    Have a 3 year old PC girl. She´s a working line breed with high prey drive, sweet but not easy. After dawn she´s not walking, she´s patrolling, small predators like foxes or cats are not tolerated but she dont hunt (i wont let her). Other dogs or people are greeted very sweetly when they behave the same, she don´t backs down when challenged. I´m very experienced and a older male dog (greate Dane mix) helped her with socializing. She insists on her independence so she is on leash most of the time. Training only works with positive affirmation and food reward (not pretending to have it). Very smart, very demandig to the owner but also very very sweet to me and my family. So far good health if such strong will is not a disease;-)

    I'm glad you emphasized socialization in this breed. This dog has a tendency to be antisocial, it likes its family and its family only. And they are meant to be that way. These are really not pets.

      Much depends upon how dedicated a responsible owner is to inuring the breed to different experiences, people and places. My two are wonderful, now 6 years old, huge (167 lbs and 147 lbs), well behaved, instantly obedient, adventurous, full of mischief, but not unkind. If there is one downside, regardless of my training, they remain very assertive and intolerant of aggressive or ill mannered animals of any shape or size. Brought up with a dominant cat, they are fine with cats, but squirrels, rabbits and hares....oh Lord, gimme a break!
      The instant another animal takes flight, they are in pursuit mode.....until they catch it, and they always do. Fortunately, they both obey when ordered, and have even released squirrels on command......but they keep looking at the little bugger as it scampers up the nearest big tree, trying to find the sky!
      I'm amazed they don't use their killer bite...but they don't, except when we're doing guardian work or training. My frabble sleeve is ruined!
      Overall, I'm delighted with the breed. I was always a Doberman Pinscher owner, and they will always be my favourite breed, but when my Magyar died, the best European strain Dobe was $7,000 and up....beyond my means (currently), and over 1,000 miles away.
      My Presa Pups were local, affordable, and their lineage exemplary.
      I love 'em! ❤❤❤

I will state that you need to be an experienced dog owner to have one as they are extremely strong willed, and you have to stay on top of them, so they know who the Alpha is. For everyone wondering about a presa as a first dog I don’t recommend it. I have one and if you don’t have time to exercise them and work with them you’re going to have a bad time .as a matter of fact I’d say for most of you it’s going to be a bad time even if you do. Presas are hard headed as they come and dominant in ways far beyond anything than the majority of you can handle. They really are not a dog anyone but an expert handler should have. There is little to no margin for error with them.

      I'm thinking of getting one as I live on a farm. Looking at getting a larger dog that doesn't have the same negative reputation as other big dogs as employers are going to turn me away if I said I had a bullmastiff. Plus they look amazing. Had hunterways, bodiacollies and currently a chocolate lab. All as cattle dogs. Looking more for a dog I can chill with while out working as most of the time I work alone.

    • @curleex3838
      @curleex3838 Рік тому +1

      A Presa Canario is a raw/wild version of a cane corso, a corso is a great personal protection dog and is more tame and easier to handle, a Presa is wild almost, they are harder to control and are good a guarding property and family, i have an 18month old male Presa Canario and trust me they are serious serious dog and not for inexperienced or fearful people, I DO NOT recommend this breed to novices or weak woman or its a jail sentence waiting to happen, get a corso or a rotty first! My boy is a complete goofball with the family but turns into the demon dog from hell in under a millisecond if a stranger even looks at us or him..! No joke..! ✌🏼💙
