One rhing to consider is that the canary islands are well, islands xd presas are breed both in gran canaria and Tenerife and the lines are historically different but yes, the majorero is the foundation of them both. As I got it explained at least in Tenerife where my uncle lives there are two types known as coastal, with thinner hair and more like a bull like dog and mountain or rustic that are more mastiff like with thicker hair and all.
Very nice looking dogs! They definitely got that old school bandogge look. If you look at old vintage archival photos of game dogs most have the white strip running down the bridge of the nose with black or brindle eye patches and coat
0:35 Merchants, yes. But no settlers, mainly tourist. English rich and nobility come for the weather to heal and therapy (actually that was how tourism started). They bring their dogs to protect "summer villages",second homes, hotels... So dogs were mixed mainly for acclimate or naturalize or just because there are no other of the same breed so they just find a local big male or female for puppies (example of that majorero, alano or spanish mastiff...). Nice video by the way.
As a Mom of a huge dog...how do you trim nails & clean ears? My Mastiff hates & how do you take to vet to get done? If you have a protection dog how do you get them to Dr if they outweigh you??
Yo Zeke Nice Work!! You know this video is going to have some colorful remarks... That's why I'm staying in my lane within the breed. So many unofficial experts, if you have not been around this breed for several years you'll probably get caught up in the "I'm right group". Color has been one the issues that has made some kennels do a 180 on trying breed out the blue, gray, and white in the presa's coat. You know a Presa when you see one!! This is my breed choice. I've had presa's since 2009. I've been around the breed and researching the breed since early 1998. I've been through 11 presa's. Most of them are still within my family. I currently have two males. one 8yr and one that will soon be 4yrs old and NO I NEVER LEAVE THEM ALONE TOGETHER WHEN WE LEAVE THE HOUSE. Don't get caught up in the hype, especially if you're not working this breed. Do your home work and talk to different breeders. Talk with the trainers who've been doing protection work with this breed. Most of them will tell you the truth. There's a lot of dogs labeled protection line but I've seen a decoy make a Presa run off and leave his owner. That guy has a much better presa now. LOL!! I'm just saying I've had some very good presa's and I've had some not so good. Know what you want your dog to do. Then get help getting your dog there. A good trainer will train you and help you communicate with your dog
so presa is basically a dog created using bardino majorero as the main ingredient then mixing in different molosser types until you get the desired features, so theoretically new bloodlines can still be created.
I have had Boerboels for years my last one is 9 now looking to go down a different road next time been looking at the albial but like what you are doing bro 🤘🇬🇧
I consider that the standard on the presa canario is important like the other's breed, I have two presa canario, a male and a female, blood imported from Spain 🇪🇸, they are different, the bardino majorero blood need To be present in the presa canario
Form must always follow Function. A dog must possess the physical attributes, sound orthopedics, musculoskeletal and neuromuscular development, proper dentition, appropriate coat, tolerance of ambient temperature ranges and extremes to which it will be exposed, and of course temperament to effectively perform the critical demands and essential functions that it will encounter both routinely and occasionally. A Live Stock Guardian Dog should possess an advanced Defense Drive, but not a Prey Drive, whereas, dogs used as attack dogs generally possess an advanced Prey Drive that is used to train and facilitate the Attack.

Working dogs forever 👍
It would be nice to see them used for what they where originally bred and meant for
Nice.....
Excellent talk my brother💯♥️s
Great dogs congratulations
As a Mom of a huge dog...how do you trim nails & clean ears? My Mastiff hates & how do you take to vet to get done? If you have a protection dog how do you get them to Dr if they outweigh you??
I like those presas. They seem very agile and look a little like bully kuttas
Great information on your breed of dog
Great video Sir!
Great video hell of a dog proper canine not ruined by us bred for purpose not for a look %
You should make a video on basset hounds.
His presas kinda looks like bully kuttas 🤔
Mainly the body of the male I would say. The head is presa. Body is too tall imo
It's coz modern bully breeders are mixing pressa with their dogs . Bully became like total mix of pressa fila dogo and even Danes..stupid people
@@fleskesm ya the male’s body is way too big
@@rahuldevg2010 disgusting
so presa is basically a dog created using bardino majorero as the main ingredient then mixing in different molosser types until you get the desired features, so theoretically new bloodlines can still be created.
WOW!!!
Lit brother well said good job.
Speak my man Gavin 🇮🇨💪🏿
My Presa female is an obvious Dane infused line - guess 1 dane great grandparent.
132.5 pounds. Not fat.

Wow nice dogs u definitely have something good coming
mastiffs love pleasing the handler
