Another thing about the F-16C is it only has 60 countermeasures right now. When it should actually have 120.

@@rgaeaben8043 yea. Look underneath the f16c. One one side it has 1 CM dispenser that holds 30. The other side has 3 which also hold 30 each. Compare it to the F16A which only has 1 on each side
F-16C Block 50 should has 60/60 (120 total) countermeasures.

My biggest issue with WT is at top tier you dont get the chance to have dogfights like this because someone just comes along and 3rd parties you with a missile or something. Top tier is just boring because of this to me. I wish Gaijin would add a 1v1 or 2v2 or 4v4 or something similar to this for top tier.

for real!!! it very very rare you get a nice fight. When you do get one, even if you lose. You are okay with it. You just know that your opponent also has 1 skill, and 2 appreciates the finer things in life. Also, ALL KILL THEIVES HAVE A SPECIAL PLACE IN HELL. When I get hit with a missile or gunned down. I "J" out ASAP so that person gets the kill. More people need to do that.
I've been saying this forever also main reason I don't play much anymore how hard is it to add a game mode with less players, rb controls on air ab maps so we can actually dogfight!!! maybe even a naval version where you get a aircraft carrier and multiple planes
@@GatorGreenGladiatorI agree with your opinion of kill stealers but I'm not gonna j out as soon as I'm shot down, I fly the Mig-29 and I'm gonna stay till the very last minute when I hit the ground to try to get an HMD R-73 off. Every once in a while it actually pays off.
I feel like in dogfights you would rather take the F-16C but in RB Mig-29SMT for sure

@@GrapeFlavoredAntifreeze No dude. I'm willing to bet the F15C will be super watered down. It's flight performance will probably be much lower than real life, or it won't get it's real life armaments. If it does get AMRAAMs, they'll probably use a slightly buffed AIM54C model (so really bad).
The aim 9L looks like a 10g missile next to a r73
He also took a ton of terrible shots with the AIM-9L that never had a chance
why is the f16C here missing 30 flares and 30 chaff, the block 50 can carry 60 flare 60 chaff, at least in DCS it does and i trust eagle dynamics more than gaijin
Everything is subject to change, including what block the F-16C is. So we could see more CMs, or we could see a lower Block instead.
I’m pretty sure they are already modeled in its flight model, they just need to add it.
@@seniorspaz8754Any block above 30 (keep in mind mlu is 20) gaijin chooses will have 120 countermeasure minimum. Moreover F16C's are able to (and have fielded) EW and countermeasure pods on the inner and center pylons
@@justtypical8604 Good to know. Though you should have said after the Block 32; as the “2” designation only refers to engines. F-16s alternate who supplies the engine each year, with 0 versions being General Dynamics, and 2 versions being Pratt & Whitney. Technically the version we have in-game could be a Block 30/32 if the radars and engine match (I’m on mobile right now and can’t look at what it has in-game), but with how effective R-73s are right now we absolutely need more CMs on the 16 or it just can’t outflare the SMT as-is.

The scary thing about the r 73 is, you loose like 10 CM to dodge 1, the mig still has atleast 3 more, and there are other migs, you will be out of cm after 2-3 missles and after that you are dead to even an aim9b. The r 73 is currently way to costly to defend against, you have to stay low because of the r27er and you have to pre or perma flare to not die to a r 73. Wart Hunter will become a flare simulator 2023.
I can lose one just dropping like 3-4 countermeasures, then again Russian flares used in my MiG-29 (9-12a) Are dirty and burn hotter than nato flares.😂

Just remember we have yet to see dedicated electronic warfare stuff aside from the IRCM on the su25bm. The spam will be real for awhile but modern jets have systems for fighting these things we just dont have them yet
people should pre flare more, that will help especially with the r-73 because the irccm on that thing being the seeker fov being narrowed after launch. so the fov will be bigger before launch and more susceptible to flares

for real after watching this vid and seeing how the mig29s missiles can pull that hard while dog fighting and the aim 9L cant even compete is completely unbalanced
I really hope they add the aim 9m or the aim 7mh/p because in air it’s pretty much an ADF with better flight performance while the MiG 29 has new missiles, common wt pls listen to us and add the 9m

@@neobrandeggenIt depends on which version of the AIM-9M is going to be added.
The initial version had a better IRCCM capability, which should put it above the R-73A in terms of flare resistance.
The later versions of the AIM-9M, like the AIM-9M-8 (I think it was the 8 not 100% sure rn) had also an hugely increased G-overload, up to 45g.
So at best you would have a missile that can pull harder than the python does at the moment, but with better flare resistance than the R-73, and at the minimum just a AIM-9L with better IRCCM

So glad the F16C doesn't get it's IRL realistic loadout (sarcasm).
It only carried the AIM-9M (40G All Aspect Flare Proof) and the AIM-120. The radar can't even guide FOX1 missiles in real life. There's no need for it when you have FOX3 missiles, which it mostly carried 6.
Also the HMD isn't working for the F16C either.
And the cockpit voice sounds so bad. "OLTITUDE!"

The Aim9L just doesn’t have enough g to make it good with HMD in those situations. The R73 with the Mig29SMT will be incredibly good

On top of the fact that the aim9L can’t hit shit to start with
its plenty good with an hmd, but not for the initial phases of the dogfight, it wont threaten someone mid dogfight like the 73 will, but it does make sure that they know doing anything but keeping their max turn may be fatal.

It was the same with the R-60M, it pulls way harder straight off the rail, the Aim-9L had the adventage of range. But now the R-73 can do both.

For good reason they’re adding an f16 that has weaponry it never used and they aren’t giving it what it should have for the sole purpose of keeping Russia dominating either give it what it should have or don’t fucking add it it’s not a hard concept

theres something in air combat called "jamming the wez" where you keep the dogfight tight enough that their missiles dont have the turn radius to attack you. because the f16 is the better dogfighter you jam the wez until youre both on the floor where you can just casually run them down in a 2 circle. if they extend, missile, if they dogfight, thats suicide against a good f16 pilot.
jamming the wez is extra effective if you preflare, as a preflare when youre on the limit of their view will buy you enough time to get back into their blind spots in the moments that you pop out
But realistically mat dogfights dont occur in air rb. The smt out matches it in everyway in an actual game. The f16c is just nothing but sadness.

What they are doing to the F-16 Bl.50 is the most disrespectful bias thing I’ve ever seen gaijin do in my 13 years of playing warthunder. The F16 not getting AMRAAMs having less than 120 CM, and the fact it the best dogfighter over anything, yet they make the MiG 29 better even with a better radar. They are fucked

The f16 is more agile while the mig29 gets better missles, it's balanced between the two but definitely annoying not to receive a new missle as a counterpart to the r73

the best way to dogfight with the F-16 is if you sit in its optimal turn speed around 390mph for the f-16a and 450mph for the f-16c
Based on the way the f16c is performing I’d take it in the dogfight but I’d rather the mig29smt in a typical rn match
Now throw in a little full real controls for the mig for that extra aoa and you’ll have one hell of a fighter
You need to take it two circle at 700-800kmh to really get the most out of it.
I never had this much trouble dogfighting MiG-29SMTs in realistic, then again I was using a MiG-29 (9-12a) to do it so suppose it’s kinda cheating, the 9-12 seems to be able to keep up with the SMT in dogfights fairly well, so much so I got a lot of either 6 o clock shots and a few high angle of attack gun shots on them, as well as a few R-27ER1 hits😂

@@andrewruss5824 F-16 was never "top dog" it was on par with the MiG-29 at best. F-14 *had* to become top dog to dethrone the MiG-23, which was way more broken than the Tomcat ever was. Russia is usually on top, and when they are, they stomp everyone else harder.

But I also disagree with mig 23 being more broken than the f14, The reason being is how the f14 does get fox 3's before everything and on top of that was the fastest jet with the best radar for a while. Well granted the phoenix is a fat boat of a missile it does have good range and still takes be by surprise to this day when it lands across map. Im not a soviet stan or anything, the main issue is that every patch one of the big 3 usually get one better jet or missile and people complain about it if it wasnt thier main nation and it usually stomps for another update or so until it gets "dethroned" and then the other side complains and the back and forth cycle goes on.

This just proves it you can have a superior performing aircraft (Not saying the f16 is definitely superior so no need to argue) in a dog fight and an HMS but the weaponry plays a larger roll. We can see sometimes the WEZ is jammed and the R73 will not track and the f16 will get the gun kill but when firing high off boresight fox2s there is just 0 comparison.
problem is you dont have the time to get a gun kill. you should know that. The first minute it the game everyone is kill stealing. If I was in a F16 chasing a mig-29 and had the advantage, about to get a gun kill. then all of a sudden... BOOM!!! kill stollen by xX420-69OGBaByXx killed *Glory2RU_NOBIAS*... Skill issue I guess.
It's not about how many flares you use but when you use them, there's a precise window to use the flares that will cause it to divert. Popping multiple just brute forces the issue there's an art to it
Sure the F-16C can win most dogfights with the MiG-29SMT, but the missiles are going to make up for it heavily. I mean just look at how much you have to sacrifice just to get a good shot on them, lose pretty much all of your speed and use up most of your countermeasures and gun ammo just to get 1 kill. Sure the missiles aren't perfect, but the MiG-29SMTs aren't going to need to take these kinds of dogfights in 16v16 matches if they can just drop 3-6 people with their missiles alone. The F-16C is good, but the MiG-29SMT is going to be better for the Air RB environment.
So it seems F16 has better rate performance.
Assume no missiles and guns only
1) How do I keep the MiG in the 2 circle?
2) How do I prevent myself from being baited into the MiG's 1 circle?
Keep your nose behind his tail. Watch what he's doing and how he's moving. If you're catching up to him too quickly, turn off AB, maybe even airbrake. Don't dive too much, as it can causes you to go fast enough for him to force overshoot. MiG will do anything to force overshoot. Maintain your position behind him always.

It's common sense that a guy who airbrakes AND turns off AB will slow down more than a guy just airbraking.
But airbraking does slow you down more than turning off AB, which is what you need if you wanna lose speed quickly. But when the overshoot is imminent (closing the gap quick), you wanna do both. Pay attention to your opponent at all times to see the few seconds ahead what might turn into a reversal.
If you DO overshoot when going at very low speed, go vertical-he can't follow it if you're already at near stalling speed.
Remember that overshooting means that you have more energy than him, and you can use that to your advantage.
If he reverses you while you're doing scissors, then you obviously shouldn't pull back again, continuing the scissors, because that will mean pulling right into his HUD again for a shot.
After a reversal, dodge his guns and leave the scissors by pulling in the same direction into a rate fight. Don't DIVE into the rate fight, because that is a way for your opponent to get his speed back for the shot-either go into a horizontal or slightly vertical rate fight. Depending on the circumstances, a MiG-29 might be able to even get a second shot after the reversal shot, just because it can pull so much AoA, but dodge the guns and continue fight to your strengths which is the 2 circle (rate fight). Eventually you will get the position and win by playing this way.
Also remember that the rate fight is BETTER than the one-circle fight, because if both pilots play to absolute perfection, the rate fighter will get the position in the end and win. But it requires patience and observing your opponent's moves.

And it's completely irrelevant, since the only correct and relevant thing to do would be to test our arguments by each getting into a MiG-29 and F-16 and fly under the specific condition of this strange debate we're having: An F-16 and MiG-29's in a sustained 2 circle fight with;
-Different closure rates (How quickly F-16 is gaining on the MiG). The MiG could airbrake a tiny bit at the beginning, just to make the speed difference bigger for each example.
-Each closure rate example at different speeds
-Each closure rate at said speed with multiple demonstrations of AB off + airbrakes, and AB on + airbrakes for the F-16.
-Each example of this tested such that the MiG tries to force overshoot to show effectiveness of each tactic, and the aftermath of this (both the result where the F-16 gains in the circle and kills the MiG before reversal AND where the MiG successfully forces overshoot). You'd try the vertical or horizontal rate fight to see if you can find differences by forcing overshoot in different positions. You'd test how often each parameter gives a certain result.
Make sense?
And you would not use flaps or missiles, and have the same fuel load. And if you're lazy, you can skip the varying speeds part and just do low "holding down S" speeds.

Even still, this is not something I think needs to be demonstrated-I am completely right that turning off AB + using airbrakes will lose speed quicker than just airbraking, and you and I both know that. Common sense. If you want to get down to your best turn performance speed the quickest or prevent a reversal, you can turn off AB as well. In fact, if you are about to overshoot big time, don't just turn off AB, you can go ahead and *lower your thrust* . You even see Mat doing it in this video. DEFYN etc. Because why not?

See the thing is, the mig 29 doesn’t come close to the F-16 in dogfighting the f 16 should win in every aspect. I know in the game wise that wouldn’t be fair. But in real life the f16 especially the c, would have better weapons, better Bose control, fight speed maneuverability, low speed, maneuverability. Thrust to weight.

Weren't block 50 realised like 3 years before aim-9x? For most of their life they had them instead of aim-9m. And block 30 was gigantic over hull over block 10 and others with f100 engines as it introduced f110. Are you sure you got proper version of the fighter in the name?
The F16 wins if you are an amazing pilot, theres no other enemies, you still have all your flares, if the mig29 doesnt know what hes doing and if its a low speed dogfight. If not for all of those to be true. You lose

It’s also vastly more accurate to the average player. This is how 90% of pilots fly in-game anyway.
Idk much 'bout aim9L, but if there was upgraded 9L with 40G pulling(name is like ....9L-2?), it would be counterpart of R-73.

R73 is pretty bad atm, I’ve been playing a ton in the dev server and I’ve only died once to an R-73, the rest of my deaths are R-27s and 3rd parties (and the ground)

The r73 is probably pulling like 70gs off the rails figures they’d lie about that too
its nowhere near the 40g limit when off the rails especially if your launching it at a low speed... g limiter only comes into effect when the missile actually has the airspeed to reach such g force

smt is just fat in general historical reports agree the f16 is a better dogfighter specially later variants of both aircraft mig 29 gets heavier and heavier. pilots who have flown both say the mig 29 was not as good in dogfights
