I have a ton of 8BitDIY boards for NES, Genesis, PlayStation, SNES, etc and I even subscribe to their mailing list yet I was unaware. Glad he mentioned it! How did you first stumble on it?
Hello. Very happy to be following the HDMI project for Genesis. Yes, this is a digital to digital mod. Original analog video is not used for conversion.
@@dubesinhower The modification works with the central processor and VDP. It reverse-engineers part of the VDP functions to generate digital 240p. Then scaling is applied using the video buffer. The buffer allows you to compress or stretch the picture vertically, even with zero delay. And then all this is sent to the hdmi transmitter.
@@dubesinhower Since I am only rebuilding part of the VDP functions (and not the entire chip), consoles that have the 315-5313 chip combined with something else are not supported. All Genesis 1s are supported, up to and including VA6 revisions. VA7 and Genesis 2, no. Maybe in the future, when I can recreate the whole VDP, the Genesis 2 will output hdmi too.
I love your videos !! also, I just attempted the optimize o3ds capture kit. I failed horribly with the soldering and gave up lol. I actually followed your video step by step! so thanks for making that video, I used it in tandem with the instructions (my case modding went well, just not the soldering) cheers! looking forward to the next upload
The Saturn DIY was released back in 2019. My memory might be playing tricks on me, but from what I recall there wasn't a Saturn Bluetooth receiver to use it on original hardware until much later.
Can't decide if I should bite the bullet and try loopys new mod since it seems easier than the old one or just wait for the consolizer next year, thanks for the news as always!
I have this Saturn PCB for over a year now.

Thanks for watching, very interested in the project! Do you have any more details about how your mod works?

No not as far as I know
@@dubesinhower it's on gamebox's roadmap for october 2024, but no nothing else has been said about it so far
@@Djw8991 oh that’s right, I forgot. Was thinking about the ds one
You anywhere on a Mastodon instance?? Would love to follow there now that Twitter has disabled access to third-party clients.
@dubesinhower@RetroModding.club!
Does anyone make a capture mod for the non XL New 3DS (the one with the cover plates)? I’ve been trying to find someone that makes one for a while.
