Hi please answer my question does the capture mod work with only the ds motherboard connected with no screens connected? As I am thinking of modding a 3ds to output to a laptop and using just the board in a 3d printed enclosure would be a lot slimmer.
This is one of those things where I know I'd never use it, but I still want to get one anyway just because modding is fun (as long as nothing goes wrong, anyway 😅) I would definitely be more interested in a proper consolizer mod, so I can skip the software and hopefully use a controller instead of still using the 3DS for input. Obviously that wouldn't work for every game, but it would for a lot of games.
there is an input redirection client for 3ds consoles ! simple homebrew gives you the option, and you can control the game with something like an xbox controller :-)
@@AndresRodriguez-cc5kynot everyone has internet or wants to rely on shoddy WiFi to be able to play on a bigger stream tho. What I’m getting at is some people do need that or just prefer it for a variety of reasons. Copper connections just tends to be more reliable especially longer term. Eventually WiFi isn’t gonna be a thing anymore and then you’re stuck waiting possible years (or never) for a homebrew fix.
Side-note: I now think it would be great if someone made a 3D printable case for the 3DS that included a channel for the usb and 3.5mm cables and held them snug so that there's no chance of issues down the line. The case could even include grips... heck since we're going that far let's make it a circle pad PRO addon/mod hahah.
I did this for a AV out mod for my DS lite. Bought a cheap plastic case on amazon, glued on/heat welded joy-con grip holders to either side. Used the top screen part of the case to house the cable, ribbon cable, and board.
Too bad it requires a software to be usable, it should output to micro-hdmi at a standardized definition, and propose a software that could handle the video output to manage the screens easily
It would be cool to have two separate windows instead; one for the top and the other for the bottom. This way, owners of mult-monitor PC setup can use one monitor for top screen and the other monitor for the bottom screen. So many years has past, people still do the same old thing... I have a 'new' 3ds that I just got, but I'm thinking now that I might just buy a known working 3ds board and all of the connectors and peripherals I need piece mail, and build them into a 'console' made out of wood and custom cooled internally. If such a thing as 'ribbon cable extenders,' things like where the game is inserted and where the new video output mod and controller mod become much easier to manage and customize. Anyway, I've really been giving this a lot of thought, and I would really like to avoid spending $1,800.00 sending mine off to get modded in a way that I don't even really think is ideal - the actual 3ds factory case. @@Traffa99 not that hard really especially with this sorta walkthrough on where to hit the solder points, it's a bit of a pain to put back together again i had to tear it down and build it up about half a dozen times to get both the screens working and all the buttons registering but managed to get it done. just have to be careful.
@@philovermyer6166 Oh It's because I wanna try and do stuff related to this like phones etc I just don't have the things I need
does this work on new 3ds xl?
This particular mod is not compatible with the New 3DS XL, but there is another Optimize capture mod specifically for the New 3DS XL.
I actually have one of those, and started making a video for it. However I will say that the New 3DS XL version has a completely different install procedure, and it is much more difficult than this one.
How hard do you think this would be for someone with no experience with soldering? (3ds xl)
While I do recommend learning how to solder, I don’t recommend starting with the 3DS. I would recommend starting with a SNES JR RGB mod or an N64 RGB mod.
Does this also work with the New 2DS XL?
Unfortunately none of the 2DS consoles are supported
can you try to use the same capture card on a 2ds?
No this mod only works with the original 3DS
stream to nintendo switch?
does it work on 2DS?
Hi! Where can I buy this board?
The link is in the description
cool and difficult mod, but 250p on any modern TV is jus shit.
It wasn’t really meant to be used on a TV, but I would love to see a better method of playing on a tv
Zamn she’s discontinued?!
It's possible for the ninthendo 2ds
Optimize doesn't have a kit for any of the 2DSs unfortunately
Shipping to EU?

Makes me wonder why Nintendo never bothered to build a video output into the 3DS, kinda like what Sony did with the PSP.
Yea, I guess Sony was already invested in TVs so they wanted a way to connect all their consoles to them, even portables
Even the Playstation 2 had HTMI output built into console.
I heard thar Nintendo gave consoles with video output to certain companies for certain reasons.
You mean HDMI? That didn't happen until the PS3.
They are pretty reluctant to give their fans what they actually want. At this point, obviously they would rather you buy a switch, and in their corporate minds they probably see anything about reviving their old games as competition for their new games, especially in terms of pokemon.
Excellent job! Quick question Mr. Dubesinhower: Recommended soldering iron temperature for the flex cable points? Thanks in advance!
I usually keep my iron at 650 F unless I need to do something more delicate or need more power
i have a new 2ds xl AHHHHH
Follows an i fixit guide but “ I think i need to remove the circle pad” yeah okay. So the WHY ARE YOU FOLLOWING A GUIDE?!
Also if you got a hacked 3ds no need to butcher your device there's literally a homebrew app that lets you stream
sa sert a quoi a part 1/10 chance de niquer ta nintendo ?
Do you think an idiot could do this? (Asking for a friend)
I highly recommend some previous soldering experience before attempting this mod. It’s pretty easy to follow the steps but the soldering is tricky
Biggest waste of money ever.
because? If you don't want to do a capture card mod, then ok.... but if you do.... then why is it a waste of money? The USD to Yen exchange rate is pretty good rn...
Holy Crack bat Girl this is a $200 CAD mod 😂 I'll pass cool but I'm good
Bruh you're soooo high lol
Bro ever heard of citra
