- Thanks for watching guys. This one was legendary.
I do not own rights to this song or music video. This reaction is fair use.

Your face when Avi hit that bass was hilarious
Took a hot minute for him to get his jaw off of the dloor
Absolutely priceless! Avi has been known to go so low that he blows speakers.
That’s how great Avi is with his voice.
@@tararocksong5085 My son and his wife are professional opera singers and have tremendous respect for Avi. To quote my son, "Avi's voice transcends genres." I would love to hear Avi in an opera. I will be so glad when our artists can get back to live performances...my son was cast in 4 operas this year which were all cancelled.
@rhonda parsley, that’s great and I’m glad you and you’re family love PTX as much as I do. I wish your son and his wife lots of luck back on stage.
I swear this video should be subtitled "Where's Kevin?" Every single reviewer asks. During Avi's insane bass drop, you see Mitch move to the center of the stage, Scott follows him and Kevin comes onstage at the right. Unfortunately, after Mitch takes over, the person making this video never shows the whole stage again. But all that rattling and popping and whooshing is Kevin going off. I've seen other live performances of this, but this one tops them all. By the way, the high falsetto riff just before Mitch says "One, two, three" is actually Scott!
RLH CAT Kevin unseen but still killing it!
@@vannyx2295 This song would be very different without his beatboxing. Can't even imagine it.
RLH CAT Absolutely! He really adds so much weight to all their songs.
Misty Shaw I completely agree with you, I wasn’t trying to say that the bass isn’t important. That’s why PTX works so well, together they form a cohesive sound. ^.^
“Where’s Kevin?” Lol!
If you ever make merch I think "My concerns are gone" would be so fun, haha
Great idea!
THIS. I laughed so hard when you did that at Daft Punk.
Yes!!
I strongly second that!
100%
Kevin is doing the beat, he’s on stage, just came on later so isn’t on camera.
"I'm not a professional, but..."
Dude, you still know your stuff. Makes the reactions all the more enjoyable for me.
Everyone gives Mitch love. And I'm over hear going nuts for Avi's bass throughout the whole song.
There note he does in the middle of the song, close to when mitch hits the floor, that OMG I died and resurrected.
Me too.
Really? Almost all the comments I see are about Avi. He was great, but Mitch absolutely owned this song. Absolutely incredible; how he hasn't gone solo like Avi just blows my mind.
I'm doing both, myself. I want an album of just Avi and Mitch killing it in duets. Just holy crap.
Lol you and me both
Can we talk about incredible vocal control and breath control.
"My concerns are gone." I love this! Every time!
Kevin was putting away his cello in the beginning, that’s why they did a choral piece before the song. When Aha starts the others have moved up to make room for him - you don’t see him cause the person filming didn’t zoom out again :)
Thanx for the context
Johann van de Bron No worries!
@Misty Shaw Yep. Not to mention, have seen other performances of this & Kevin looks out of place just standing there during the entire beginning. Of course, he could have just joined in one of the parts & sang too, having a great voice as well.... but I get why he comes in later. Makes sense for many reasons. :) Even as a lifelong vocalist, this is prob the best, most unique, perfectly timed, holy #$@#@# thing I've EVER listened to. + BEST version of..... Even w/ the blown out speaker & not greatest recording quality. Prob why I've listened to it, idk.... a few hundred times by now over the years. Simply AMAZING imho. :) Stay safe & be well.
Your face when Avi hit that low note, LOL!
Mitch is such a master of his voice. He mixes a lot during this. It’s crazy.
Since Christmas is just around the corner, I suggest Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy which won them their 2nd Grammy. The video, in itself, is very well done and you can see the dichotomy with Avi and Mitch again in this arrangement.
Omg yes
I request this one before, but I'll say it again. Yes! Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy!
Omg yes yes yes
Yes please 🤞🏻🤞🏻
kevin is off stage putting his cello Beyonce up after he just played a song by himself he joins them after the operatic part! also they never record anything they can't perform live so yes they are as good in person :) enjoy hehe
im a simple person
i see Pentatonix - Aha!, Singapore reaction
i click
That's what I love so much about the original line up. Avi and Mitch working together to give that enormous range throughout their performances.
THIS. they were (for me) what made PTX so special. everyone in PTX is amazing, but Mitch and Avi are just next level; one of the best basses and one of the best tenors in the world combined in one group.
There is a quick piece with Scott and Mitch, where Scott is writing something with a magic marker and Mitch parrots the squeaks from the marker perfectly in perfect pitch. It was just a spur of the moment sort of thing.
We pentaholics just love to see when a new pentaholic borns (becomes) starts being a pentaholic 😍🥰
Kevin was busy putting his Cello away. That’s why after Avi hits that crazy note and the camera pans back out, Mitch is a lot closer to Kirstie than he was before because Kevin came back on stage and stood on the other side of Scott. You can also hear him beatboxing in the background
Wasn't that fun? They are just so in sync. People joke that Mitch must have had an extra energy boost drink that night (he really does drink it). It takes lots of physical energy to open up and reach those high notes.Doing a riff going into it helps also. I love all the members of PTX but Mitch is really special. If you've watched some of the Superfruit videos with them doing Broadway tunes, you heard how Mitch has a voice that would work well on Broadway. He used to do live theatre when younger.
From what I read Mitch was really jet-lagged and chucked 2 red bulls back-to-back during the break. These kicked in when they performed and he just went crazy. Also in the beginning you can hear Avi shred the locations sound-system so only PTX own speakers were really working
I've seen this song performed at a concert and when Avi hits that low note I felt it in my soul.
I love how you give Avi credit for his awesome bass notes.....I always felt he wasn't given enough credit for his amazing talent. Mitch is just so talented....best ever live performance .....
You are the best of all those I’ve seen that do music reviews because you actually care about the music. Your comments are so much more than “OMG or GD” which are crude. You listen to the music and explain what you hear and even repeat it to make sure of what you heard. Thank you for being not only honest but real!
I really appreciate this as well. Great job!!
That's great that you stop and repeat the awesome bits.
Here is the story of this video as I've heard it: the song previous to this was a Kevin cello solo. The rest of the group was backstage during the solo, and Mitch, who was suffering from jet lag, quickly downed two Red Bulls. The group returned to the stage to begin the choral introduction while Kevin was backstage putting the cello away (which is why he's not seen onstage at the beginning). Kevin returns to the stage (not seen on camera) just as Avi hits that low note that begins the downfall of the Star Vista's sound system. The camera zooms out as Avi starts singing the intro to Aha. A sly smile can be seen on Kirstie's face, as if she knows what's about to happen. Just then, Mitch's Red Bulls kick in...and he proceeds to go completely INSANE on stage, while Avi continues to JOYOUSLY shred the sound system in the background. And thus, the live performance that most Pentaholics now consider to be the best of the group's career...made even more legendary by the fact that it apparently was only captured by this fan-made video!!
I will second the recommendation to react to “Gold.” BUT! First, you need to listen to the original, by Kiiara. She does some amazing stuff with digital splicing. And then Mitch just says, “hold my Starbucks, bitches,” and goes off. It’s amazing!
YES, that is a must, especially Kiiara's first, to see Mitch's fabulousness.
As a high soprano, I always find it interesting when i choose Mitch’s notes over Kirstin’s. She’s fabulous but i just have a higher range. And there aren’t many male singers that i want to sound just like... Mitch is one of them. It’s also why i adore a really amazing bass. I can’t get anywhere near there so i appreciate the natural and nurtured talent.
Yeah, the rumbling is Avi going so low he's blowing out the speakers, & despite Kevin being cut out of view people recommend this one so much because it's such a great performance by Mitch & Avi!
This is why Pentatonix is The Best.
Kevin was a part of it. You'll see a space between Kirstie and Mitch in the beginning of the video but just when they go to focus on Avi you catch Mitch moving over and for the rest of it he is next to Kirstie. Kevin was putting his cello away and they started the Hymnal to give him a few minutes to get back, then Avi drops that low note to start the song and you can hear all of Kevin's wonderful sounds you just don't see him because the person shooting focused on Mitch. And yes, that was Avi, he went so low the mic failed. LOL Mitch has an AMAZING, sick, vocal range. Check it out: ua-cam.com/video/X4YjMKjLkZ0/v-deo.html
When he was shocked when Mitch said “Caught” the first time really high I was like, “Just wait.”
Thanks for taking the time to acknowledge Avi's low notes. A lot of times I see people only focusing on Mitch's part of the performance. Rightfully so he is amazing, but Avi set the tone for this performance and his foundation allowed the others especially Mitch to build on top of it. They both deserve a lot of praise and I'm glad that you gave Avi props.
And THIS is why Pentatonix is The Best. The timing and tempo is extremely difficult and they did it flawlessly and with ease.
If you liked Avi's live note then you ABSOLUTELY MUST react to Natural Disaster live in Springfield MA
Video = Pentatonix "Natural Disaster" Live Springfield, MO 2/6/2014
Is that the one where he blows out the speaker?
@@Seriphina No that's the Hit The Road Jack live video
natural disaster
The beginning piece is Christus Factus Est by Anton Bruckner. They actually sang it as written by
Bruckner - including Avi's first low note. They did change the key down from the original d minor to c minor to allow Avi to display his amazing range.
Wow! That was the first time I heard that song. Wow
Wasn't sure how I'd like reaction videos but... My concerns are gone. You give me a new understanding of Pentatonix. thanks
I am really enjoying your reactions to pentatonix.
Kevin is putting away his cello -named Beyonce - while they are doing their "opera moment" because before this song, he played cello whilst beatboxing deemed 'celloboxing,' in a big solo section.
Wonderful expressions ! This is from Imogene Heap. PTX is fabulous and we Pentaholics LOVE them ! Interrupt all you want, we have heard it and want your reactions ! Everything they do is excellent, powerful and riveting. Thank you.
And THIS is why Pentatonix is The Best.
I'm a couple years late, but the sheer number of things that went into this performance to make it so phenomenal... they added Christus Factus Est to the beginning so Kevin would have a chance to put his cello away from the previous song, as he was no longer needed for the intro. Avi's low note in the transition from Christus Factus Est to Aha literally damaged the Star Vista sound system, as did his ensuing bass line throughout the song, which is why the sound quality from his mic is just shredded near the end. Mitch, suffering from severe jet lag, had drank two entire Red Bulls back-to-back during a break before this song, and right as they transitioned into Aha is when they kicked in, which led to his insane performance; you can see the smile on his face before the lights cut at the end and he knows he killed it. I love this group so much.
Kevin was off stage beatboxing because he and Avi on stage together, they kept blowing the speakers. Loved your reaction by the way.
Their rendition of "Telephone" at the Singapore, Star Vista is like a sister video to this one. Interesting thing about the Telephone cover is that it was their audtion piece for The Sing Off. The trio, Kirstie, Mitch and Scott, arranged the song while they were still in high school (there's also a video of the three of them covering the song when they were 18). The cute thing about the Star Vista performance is the very beginning where Avi and Kevin have a little bromance moment. It's almost as if you can hear them saying, "It's even better with us!"
Thanks for sticking to Pentatonix for now! There's so much to react to with them.
I would recommend that you stick with the headphones - lots of Pentaholics swear that it's the best and only way to appreciate acapella songs.
Also, if you feel like showing your dog more, feel free. For some reason, most of us love seing people's pets.
Watching you react to Pentatonix is like watching them for the first time all over again. Aren't they amazing?
If you want another of their live performances check out their version of silent night.
ryanbran03 ahhhh...Yes!!!! I love the Live performance of “Silent Night” as well. They sound so perfect, and the arrangement is so different and absolutely gorgeous. One of my favorites to request reactors to watch around the holidays!! 🥰
Yes yes yes Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy next!!!
"My concerns are gone" LOL you know you gotta say that every time now.
Holy crap! What a low note! THEY ARE SOOO GOOD!
I give all of them praise, is the way they all support each other.
In the previous song, Kevin had been playing his cello. He was putting it away at the start of the video, which is why you don't see him on stage. Others have already explained exactly when he returned to the stage.
This is my favorite live performance video!
This isn’t my first time seeing your reactions I this, but I have to say that the fact that you reacted to the intricate syncopation and that minor harmonic note by Scott had me swooning. So awesome that you caught that.
My daughter and I have seen them live few years back. I've cried almost through the whole show. They were absolutely mind blowing.
When they started, they were concerned they would sound like they were putting on a choir concert.
As you can tell, when Mitch starts crawling on the floor, everyone goes wild! I think he’s become the favorite member of PTX! Even us being straight, I see sooooo many girls are in love with Mitch- me included! ❤️
Loving these Pentatonix reactions...please keep them coming because there are soooo many. Maybe watch Hallelujah their live Christmas special if you want to see how amazing they work together live. Your reactions to thus were exactly like mine, (I hit rewind on Mitch's highs numerous times & I never get tired of this performance because it's so incredible.
PLEASE! I have yet to see anyone react to this- it’s a LIVE version of their original song Natural Disaster. Avi’s bass in in recorded song is a G1- but live he goes down a half step to F#1 and shakes the whole stadium. Someone put a comparison video together called “[PTX] Avi hits F#1 live”. You have to WATCH OUT not to blow out your speakers/headphones. Yes really.
Watch "natural disaster" live. You will not believe how low Avi reaches. Watch out for your speakers, though. They could blow if it's too loud.
I loved your reaction. One of my favourite bits is when Mitch starts going up to the notes in the stratosphere - you kinda jerk backwards as though you are expecting Mitch to leap out the screen and bitchslap you. Lol. That man has got some serious power in his voice.
The mid song bass drop Avi did, blew out a speaker set which was why it sounded rough at the end.
If you want to hear more of their live performances, you should go back to the very beginning and listen to their "Sing Off" videos. They got their big start competing on the Sing Off (a vocal competition just for A Capella groups), so there are several different genera that they had to arrange and they are all live performances. It really showcases their talent as a group, especially since they hadn't been together very long as a group before competing.
Your facial expressions are priceless. I love your reactions!
In case no one mentioned, Mitch had two Red Bulls just before this...
And Avi blew at least one speaker with his low note.
You can hear Avi's bass in a couple of non-PTX performances, as well. Avi and Home Free doing Ring of Fire, and Avi with Peter Hollens, Black is the Color of My True Love's Hair.
Definitely time for merch!!! I agree with another commenter... "My concerns are gone" would be good but a screenprinted shot of the face you made at Avi's low note would be even better!!
I've always wondered if that "purr" you hear right before the bridge is a beat by Kevin or Avi almost blowing out the sound system.
This is how they are always live.
I really love that you give your expectations before you experience the music! And your catch phrase is completely merch worthy. Haha
I just love watching people discover PTX, even if acapella isn't your style, I think anyone with the slightest ear for music can appreciate what they do ❤️
Also, Kyle, you're great! It's nice to see such genuine, honest reactions. And I like your hat 🙂
Such an amazing performance and I know you enjoyed it but you looked horrified though a good bit of it. I think I laughed as much at your reaction as I loved the performance of Pentatonix. AWEsome!!
Kevin was there and together with Avi they gave it depth and power..
What a great way to start my day. Loved this reaction!
Aha! was a song by Imogene Heap, but Mitch killed it! If you get a chance, go see them live! They put on a great performance. I've seen them twice, and will go again if I can.
You need to watch Avi Kaplan. Change on the rise!! It will blow your mind and I can NOT wait to see your reaction!
I want that Tshirt too: my concerns are gone!
I love Pentatonix they just so amazing
Pentatonic have been my favorite group for 5+ years. They never fail to amaze me! Kyle you are doing a great job...
live shows: Hallelujah on their Christmas special; What Feeling is This? the Wicked Tribute; Gold one camera shoot so much you have to look forward to. Enjoy!
Your expression when Mitch went to the high note was priceless! You looked so stunned. I didn’t know that was in his mixed range! Thx for the info.
Gold. Listen to Gold if you want to hear something cool from Mitch, Kirstie, and Scott. Plus you really get a good taste of Kevin's stuff.
The sound is iffy because someone recorded it on there phone. He was there putting his cello away. He still takes part. ❤
Kyle......I ah no idea you were so knowledgeable with musical terms. #(head voice / chest voice / mixed) I thought you were like a lumberjack or something. You are like a renaissance man. love your channel.....more Pentatonix and Superfruit, please. Thanks!!
Home Free! Home Free! Home Free! Really want you to check them out. Butts Remix, Ring of Fire, Man of Constant Sorrow..any of their stuff really. Great group of guys.
their cover of Sound of Silence would be another good one to react to
Kevin was putting his cello away at the start here. When the camera shifts to Avi the rest shift to their right as Kevin comes on, but the camera is glued to Mitch so you never see him.
And yes, those rumbles are Avi. He's blown speakers going so low.
Avi is a basso profundo and Mitch is a counter tenor. Definitely polar opposites in range lol. You’re definitely in for a treat! They sound like they eat cd’s for breakfast lunch and dinner when they perform live, especially if the mic balance is good (or with no mics at all) A good live performance for that is them singing silent night live in what I think is a chapel
This song was written by Mitch & Scott for Mitch. Kevin is waiting to do his solo with his cello that's why he's not on stage. This, Cracked & Water are original songs written by PTX.
I've seen them live and they are that good in person, sound just like you hear in the videos.
Love your reviews of this extremely talented group and your comments are so right on. Can you believe Mitch once said in an interview that he was ridiculed as a youngster because of his voice? Wonder what those people think now? :-) He is one of the most talented people I have ever seen - in fact, each of the members of this group are so talented, it is amazing to see this much talent in one group.
I wounder if they ever get exhausted or have a bad day... I can not imagine all the work they put in but i never see them looking like they do not want to be there... they always look like they are having a blast!
Avi is a classically-trained opera singer and you can hear it come through at the beginning. I'm sure that somehow contributes to him being able to hit such low notes.
Mitch's high notes are impressive, but what I think is more impressive, and what I've never heard mentioned in reactions, is the trill right before the high notes. So much control. Crazy good.
Had to keep rewinding back to the bit when you reacted to Avi's really low note.. love it, and shows exactly how it hits you the first time you hear it. Loving your reactions, so knowledgeable and appreciative of good music. Keep them coming please ❤️
It is always nice to see people to hear Mitch's iconic Aha! performance. Yes, they are that good! Even better now and they added choreo and huge production to their shows.
That was one of the best reactions ! Every viewer was waiting for that low note ..and it was worth every second :) I saw them live in Toronto....it was absolutely amazing!
Great reaction! I’ve seen two of their concerts live and bought the VIP passes, so I’ve heard the private performances they do for VIP guests. They are as good live as in the studio. My understanding is that they don’t record anything that they can’t do live. Keep up the PTX reactions, please.
This song hit all the high and low spots!
Their evolution videos (music, Michael Jackson, Beyoncé, Rihanna) aren’t live but they are one-shot videos. The entire thing is single shot straight through, no cuts or edits. There are some great clips of them messing up and having to start at the beginning. Not sure if anyone suggested this yet, I’m sure they have though, but Scott and Mitch have their own channel called Superfruit and Avi has put out his own music too.
I enjoy your videos so much! It's great to watch someone discover ptx for the first time and be amazed !
"That low note" blew a speaker. I'm sure that's not what Avi was trying to do, but when you have a basso profundo in the band it sometimes happens. This resulted in less than optimal audio for the remainder of the performance. Additionally, this was recorded on someone's cell phone - *not* the best recording system around. And yet, you can still hear it well enough to analyze when Mitch is singing in head voice and when he's singing in mixed voice. Impressive!
Your face is majestic at the low note. I love it! I had the same reaction.
