HEADS UP After you run passed the Erdtree and grab the grace...soon as you go down the steps don't forget to look at the left side. Over that root are three annoying Crystalians guarding a chest that contains the Rotten Crystal Sword that deals Scarlett rott
The Haligtree is without any doubt one of the most annoying areas in the game, but man do those enemies drop runes. Lost 25K+ runes because of some cheeky mushroom zombie shoving you off the platform? No worries, by the time you reach them, you probably have the same amount again. Also, the Black Knife assassins become permanently visible if you equip the Sentry's Torch, which you can purchase from the Hermit Merchant living east of the Leyndell Outer Wall North Entrance.
no joke. im on my second run and i did malenia with my second try. i literally died more often to falling from the map to get to her than from her. I died like 5 times from falling. 3 times to get to 1 lost grace and once to malenia and on my second run i got her.
Dude I swear Elden Ring is like "Do you see this cool secret area that is the size of an entire area from Dark Souls 3, well it's all optional...". They seriously put this much effort into every area and some people may never see. Some of these area's could be entire segments of past souls games or entire DLC zones.

This zone is basically the DLC area. At least to me this zone was harder than any of the other endgame areas, and if Fromsoft creates a DLC with an even more sadistic touch, well I'd simply hate to imagine what that will be like.
We might get some DLC, not certain but dataminers have found an ending that isn’t in the current game called Age of Absolution which looks like it was supposed to tie up loose ends for a few side characters that had quests with no ending. Also the fact that Miquella isn’t in the game yet heavily referenced and can be found but not interacted with in the game. Idk if you completed that part but yeah, don’t want to ruin it for you. I’m not saying we are getting DLC but if we were to it looks like that may be included.
Only zone in the game up until now that I despise. The mountains were literally empty but the Fire Giant, the forge and the fire monks in general were cool (these 3 things aside, the area looks cool as hell but is just filled with random re-used enemies). What does the Haligtree have? It's beautiful to look at and that's it. It's made to be frustrating. Enemies deal a ton of damage and are placed in the worst spots. This is the only area in the game I refused to explore even a bit, after finding like, what, 5 smithing stones for the +25 upgrade and 2 weapons that I already owned but coloured differently, I gave up and rushed straight to the boss (which is equally frustrating because her healing paired with that bullshit flurry move makes her the most annoying, difficult boss in the game) Game is good as hell but this area could've been 5.000 times better, I know it's optional but it still shouldn't be like that. Nothing new to see and made to be hard, that's it
Yeah I miss frigid outskirts area man. We need more region like frigid outskirts combinate with ash lake and give us type enemy like Reindeer that immune to magic and blood damage. The would be the best DLC ever.
First time I saw Haligtree, it almost brought a tear. This place is for me the most beautiful places I have seen in ER. Yes, the enemies are tough, but walking down that beautiful tree, and then enter a place where elves from LOTR could have lived. Man...This game has it all 💛
At 2:40 an invisible enemy is guarding the ladder. You can see it's footsteps in the snow and it drops a Ghost Glovewort 9 if you are interested in that. (There is more than one enemy like that around the town and they also drop it.)

I thought the game would lead me to Melania and thought she would be a required boss in order to beat the game.

So, for any fellow squishy mages struggling with the evergaol section, I have a helpful tip. You can kill one of the 2 archers by the second light if you go onto the staircase behind the big building they both stand on. Use a spell that can lock them down, like stars of ruins, or poke them with something long range, such as ambush shard. Once you kill that one you can either reposition to kill the second, or just rush the ladder now that you only need to dodge one
Yes this worked for me. Using a greatbow to knock off at least the archer directly in front of you as you are making your way to that tower will allow you to survive long enough to reach the tower to light it.
I know Witcher was huge and a great game I respect Breath of the Wild which was also great and refreshing but this game is just the best. From the cinematography to the combat system crafting flexibility and content. This game goes down as the GOAT of RPG’s for me replacing Final Fantasy 7 and Ocarina of time . Truly ground breaking amazing game
A tipp for upgrading. There is another ancient Dragonsmithingstone if you drop down at 4:15 but walk straigth through the hall, walk past an big enemy climb up a lader and then kill an really small boss( not an acctual boss in the area but in cealid) then you can pick it up and walk to your right and just follow the path to the roofs
You can see by the amount of times he picked up his runes how much effort he puts into his videos he dies a lot and takes the easiest way for us thank you a lot for all the tutorials
good guide ive been watching guides for this game a lot recently and this one has had the best pacing for the way I watch and play in my opinion, easy to follow but very informative. Good Job.
This is my first play through thank you for being so informative and thank you for not showing the Bossfight so it could be a surprise. You are very good at what you do.
I really am happy to see this game getting a ton of respect and love. With all these other triple A franchises and co.panies ruining their reputation with greed and incompetence, from soft knocks it out of the ballpark and releases a FULL GAME with tons of stuff to do and they improved greatly on mechanics from their older games. Much love to Elden Ring, thank you Fromsoft
It’s a good game but it’s not GOTY. A lot of the end game stuff reeks of DS3. I mean that it gets fucking hard and everything can 1 and 2 shot you. I didn’t say it’s not challenging but it’s like the beginning of the game is incredible and the late game is copy pasta with OP enemies
@@jeffk7324 oh it is GOTY alright, no game this year will have close to the amount of praises and exposure as elden ring continues to have. I agree with you on the 1 shotting though, its like its just hard for the sake of it being hard, i feel like lesser mobs have no business to be hitting as hard as the bosses.
I agree the game is amazing, but I wish FS would fix an issue that has plagued EVERY SINGLE game they have released. I am playing on PC using a PS4 controller, but I cant change the tooltips. It's either Xbox controller or keyboard. Steam knows I'm using a PS4 controller, yet they refuse to write some code to change that shit. Very fucking frustrating. Aside from that nitpick the game is incredible.
Thanks man. On my first playthrough. 40 vigor was getting me by until I got to the concecrated snow ground, and now this where we add this level of platofrming on top of Mobs that can stun lock you into oblivion, give you scarlet rot, or make you panic roll and become your own worst enemy as you succmb to gravity. Definetely helped. Thanks!
I can't believe I beat the game without even knowing this area existed. I got the lord of chaos ending and kept waiting for malenia to show up and all of us a sudden I was like wait wtf is she not a required boss
Always love Arekks guides. Makes everything seem so easy, quick, simple! Until you do the content and realize how much work a phrase like "Kill the boss, and get the loot!" does. The Arekks dark souls guide: "what's up guys! Head over to the bells, ring the bells, kill a couple of bosses and grab the loot!"
Kind of? Isn't it bad that huge areas may go unseen by most players? I guess there's an NPC that kind of guides you so it's not super secret if you follow what Gideon tells you. That's a plus.
Very helpful bro. I bought this game when it first came out and I'm just now picking it up. Very challenging but I love your content. It's very step by step, which is what I like. Again, appreciated very much.💯💯💯
I just beat melania first try lol found the place and was like ooo this is a cool boss dodged all her attacks except like 2 and beat her in like a minute
Was about to start Journey #2, but I heard about the infamous "hardest boss in the game", so i was like... Challenge accepted. Sweet guide, thank you 🤝
Genuinely the best tutorial I've seen when it comes to these games, this video saves me many hours and Google searches and was super easy to follow along!!
@@solventabuser77 boss level difficulty is hard to each their own. Malenia can easily be staggered by parrying her attacks 3x in a row then you can land your own critical hit. you can even prevent waterfowl dance by throwing a freezing pot to her the moment she launched herself into the air. personally, Godfrey is harder for me than any boss in this game.
Ok so 6:30 check this one out i accidently jump onto the roof so i didnt have to go into that rooms below but it gets better if you stay on the roof there a way up to another ancient dragon and after you leave that room you walk up more and you now have a sniper view of that boss blocking the room 7:03. thanks for the guide
ok path 2 say you fall down toward that room dont go in jump off the ledge make you way to the ground go north. youll see a ladder on the right and a poison spider thing if you time it right hel'll be walking away while you go up the ladder. go in room, go left watch for four guards easy but with shields . continue up the steps you will be smack infront of those arrow shooters easy kills ok before you go up that pillar in front of you there a guy to the right and a somber 9 stone (if you want) now go up that pillar theres a open room that leads you right to the site . Side note i jump in a downward angle to reach the room up the pillar. lol i couldnt get past them lol had to find another way
even with a guide , this is soooo complicated. FromSoft should show some quest icons to follow etc. without a guide. most of the great content is not even seen by even the most seasoned souls players.
Ikr, questlines & secret areas are fun to follow & discover, the problem is when you don't even know where you have to begin, like Ranni's questline, it's not impossible but still complicated to do, this game is still fun & i consider it the best game ever (after Bloodborne XD).
are the optional bosses available for us to fight after we kill the last story boss, or do we have to fight them before the last boss. just wondering before i'm done clearing Azula.
You do not have to end the game immediately after beating the last boss your given an option. So you can go here after, might help cause melania is definitely the hardest boss in the game
@@_VXI what move is that? is that when she jumps in the air and teleports to you with multiple slashes? if you're far enough you could ran away from the 1-2 blink strikes. if your close, what I do is block the first one, and then dodge the 2nd and 3rd going to the right

Witcher and dark souls are not in the same category, are you on drugs? 😏
@@critical-thinker666 when it comes to open world RPGs they are in the sameee ccategory lol
@@nickberglund6355 they are not even same genre buddy.
@@critical-thinker666 you said category not genre buddy.
they are not in same category or genre better?
A tipp for upgrading. There is another ancient Dragonsmithingstone if you drop down at 4:15 but walk straigth through the hall, walk past an big enemy climb up a lader and then kill an really small boss( not an acctual boss in the area but in cealid) then you can pick it up and walk to your right and just follow the path to the roofs
Thanks
Thx
You can see by the amount of times he picked up his runes how much effort he puts into his videos he dies a lot and takes the easiest way for us thank you a lot for all the tutorials
I dont know what i wouldve done without this video thank you so much
Jesus Christ I was having issues with this last night, thank you sir! Going to do this after work today
good guide ive been watching guides for this game a lot recently and this one has had the best pacing for the way I watch and play in my opinion, easy to follow but very informative. Good Job.
I've just got to this snowy area and I'm glad to know I can end up actually seeing things on my screen other than snow ❄️
This is my first play through thank you for being so informative and thank you for not showing the Bossfight so it could be a surprise. You are very good at what you do.
Shes not even the hard part. Just getting to her intimidates me
There is a sight of grace on the branches right where you load in. So you dont need to make it to the one in the room for your first grace>
Much love to Elden Ring, thank you Fromsoft
idc
The man condensed about 5 hours of gamplay, dying, crying, swearing and generall ass rapage into 9 mins.....god i love you tube!
I’ve never raged more at ants in my entire life
Fall alone breaks ur legs😂
I got the lord of chaos ending and kept waiting for malenia to show up and all of us a sudden I was like wait wtf is she not a required boss
dude I had the same. Got the age of stars ending and was expecting to fight Melania with Ranni :') damn internet
The dark souls of guides?
There is a tourch you can buy from a merchant that will let you see the assassins
Great guide! Helped me get through the entirety of the area relatively easy.
Missed this area completely
This game is a masterpiece
Kind of? Isn't it bad that huge areas may go unseen by most players? I guess there's an NPC that kind of guides you so it's not super secret if you follow what Gideon tells you. That's a plus.
Arekkz you’ve done it again! I don’t know HOW THE F*** I WOULD HAVE NAVIGATED THIS LOCATION WITHOUT YOU!
Just when you think you've discovered everything in this game, there's a whole new separate world to explore within it.
Very helpful bro. I bought this game when it first came out and I'm just now picking it up. Very challenging but I love your content. It's very step by step, which is what I like. Again, appreciated very much.💯💯💯
for being an optional boss, she sure is hard to get to lmfao
Thank you!
I was just about to search this.... what timing awesome guide 👍
I just beat melania first try lol found the place and was like ooo this is a cool boss dodged all her attacks except like 2 and beat her in like a minute
to whoever reading this, turn back now.
Its too late
Nah I'd win.
Nah
U won?
im a man
He really on it about not spoiling the game! Thanks G
Was about to start Journey #2, but I heard about the infamous "hardest boss in the game", so i was like... Challenge accepted.
Sweet guide, thank you 🤝
Dont forget the harder version of Astel, only a few hundred people beat him
@@juicyfolder4683 Is that the one who drops a boosted meteor skill?

Genuinely the best tutorial I've seen when it comes to these games, this video saves me many hours and Google searches and was super easy to follow along!!
Thanks for this
Now the only thing I know is..
*Malenia is definitely the blade of miquella*
Perhaps 🤔
Haligtree with controller drift isn’t fun…
fix it or buy a new one scrub
Same…
@@t2av159u actin like ur momma didn’t buy u ur set up 😂
Super helpful guide man!! I found the boss really fast!!
It helps when you don't put it in 2x speed
bad memory?
You know youtube has a 0.5x video speed option, right?
I literally up and rage quit that stupid evergaol last night, thank you i really needed this ♥️
First try malenia !
Hah
I first tried Godskin Duo without sleep pot
First try radhan
If you are finding this run difficult on the way to your next boss, don’t worry, this guy just got the most passive enemies I’ve ever seen.
Finally beat Malenia! The fight was awesome even though she had some insane moves lol.
incase you didn't know for the lake of rot you can use bloodhound step to get throught the lake and not have rot proc
Defeated her in less than 10 attempts lmao was harder getting to her than defeating her bruh
Thanks a lot I have a lot of trouble trying to get the in there it helps a lot thanks!
Remember to press pause on the video and pick up your controller 27 times while watching the video so you can tag along his path… lol.
I love how you didn't show the bosses thank you. You got a new subscriber.
Getting to her is harder than the actual boss fight 😭
No
@@solventabuser77 boss level difficulty is hard to each their own. Malenia can easily be staggered by parrying her attacks 3x in a row then you can land your own critical hit. you can even prevent waterfowl dance by throwing a freezing pot to her the moment she launched herself into the air. personally, Godfrey is harder for me than any boss in this game.
4:59 I was already here imagining running all the way back to a grave u started from💀
Hoarfrost stomp + mimic tear + power stance blood ushigatana = Bye bye Rot Queen … unless she jumps in your direction in which case you’re doomed.
Yeah I shouldn’t have to play a game with UA-cam opened on my phone all day
Ikr, questlines & secret areas are fun to follow & discover, the problem is when you don't even know where you have to begin, like Ranni's questline, it's not impossible but still complicated to do, this game is still fun & i consider it the best game ever (after Bloodborne XD).
AMAZING GUIDE, cheers mate
Not trying to be that guy, but the gaol in evergaol is pronounced like jail. It's an archaic spelling
This guide helped so much not even my friend who already beat malenia knew where to go I ended up beating her in 12 tries
are the optional bosses available for us to fight after we kill the last story boss, or do we have to fight them before the last boss. just wondering before i'm done clearing Azula.
You do not have to end the game immediately after beating the last boss your given an option. So you can go here after, might help cause melania is definitely the hardest boss in the game
@@7JMJB11 whos melania
@@matty956 the boss in the area lol. Its in the title😂
@@wiisportsmatt9775 The boss in the title is Malenia

why does every guide put the footage at 200% speed.................
Fr it pisses me off
to make it easier to fallow... do you have bad memory or something?
You make some of the best guides, thanks man.
Hardest boss in the game hands down.
It's not even close, I still don't know the best way to avoid her omega death bullshit combo.
@@_VXI what move is that? is that when she jumps in the air and teleports to you with multiple slashes? if you're far enough you could ran away from the 1-2 blink strikes. if your close, what I do is block the first one, and then dodge the 2nd and 3rd going to the right
@@shuragamingyt I'll try this because I'm confident in dodging her other abilities because the game prepares you for it. But that jump combo is bullshit. I've seen her jump from halfway across the arena and she still reaches me.
I'll have to try a shield. Thanks for the advice. I really want her katana.
@@_VXI yeah, it's hard when she does it just above you and you're in the middle of your own combo. also make sure you have barricade shield aow on your shield coz it drastically decreases stamina consumption when blocking. good luck man!
I like how he says have fun I don’t think I’m going to have any fun lmao
bruh u talk too fast u have to understand people are doing this while u explain it to them and your gameplay is faster than ours so next time take caution in that not everybody can slow down the video.
Bruh I have this shit on x1.5 😂😂 I thought he was too slow. You might be dumb frfr bolder person
Om lmao be going hella fast
Thank you for the route! There have been so many times where I couldn’t use a site of grace because assholes put a damn message on it and then I get destroyed 🤦♂️
You can turn off online play and reload game in offline mode and those pesky messages wont show up.
@@mochabanjo Thank you for the tip!!🙏
Bro you are always on point. Cheers from West Virginia to you!! 😃
Tip for dealing with the archers, on the first lit flame tower you should shoot the archers off the roofs with a greatbow. Boom, no more having to deal with those archers on your way to the second tower.
I recommend the sentry’s torch it makes it so you can see the black knife
Your video was amazing. I went to your link to get the two pieces. I finally copied your steps. Since i'm on PS5, guess who was there? LETMESOLOHER!!!. All I had to do was sit back and enjoy this guy not get hit thanks to your vids.
Thank you for this straight forward guide I really appreciate it.
I am loving this game so much! It is so big and I would be lost without y'all on UA-cam. Part of the fun has been going online to help figure out secrets and then reading comments from other players. The Elden Ring community is BadA!
god i love running way across hell and back to get to a grace that was way sooner , easier to get to, and added nothing. thanks Arekkz Gaming!
