  • The 2015 Mini John Cooper Works is a pocket rocket packing 228BHP and capable of 153MPH. This latest JCW gets new pistons, exhaust system, revised Brembo brakes and optional adjustable dampers. It makes the most amazing noise as it pops and bangs under deceleration and fizzes when accelerating. Agile and fun to drive, this Mini John Cooper Works is one of the best cars we have driven this year!

    It's funny that this car makes 228 bhp in a Mini that is a lot but a stage 1 tune will take it up to 298 bhp holy crap

    I drove one last week! Incredible car, throttle response, the auto gearbox was superb, quick changes etc. I had a JCW ten yrs ago this blows it away by miles! Is very quick in any gear. I WANT ONE AGAIN!

    • @andyross37
      @andyross37 9 років тому +2

      Inside Lane Black with red roof, and fully loaded. I ticked every option apart from CD auto changer. Keeping this car a few years and didn't want to have regrets about leaving things out, like I did on my current MCS

      Andy Ross 15 days and 900 miles later, I can confirm that you were correct. I love my JCW, it's the best Mini I've ever driven! A Porsche Cayenne S driver was a bit shocked when I not only kept up with him but flashed him to get out of my way! So much power!

    Very good review about this Mini!., i am about to get mine next week, a 2016 or 2017 with no more then 40.00km., but still not sure about auto or manual.....i always thought an auto on a Mini JCW will be a crime....but now not sure after this review....i do have a Mini Cooper manual and since few years when i am on holidays abroad i always rent an automatic and love it....but never try a Mini auto....and the second doubt is sunroof or not....anyway, thanks for the review, a very good one!., i watch already the other one with manual!.Best regards

    Nice car. But, not so nice for a Mini. I brought my first mini in 2004. Since then I have owned 5 and never been tempted by anything BMW did after 2007. I've never brought one older than a 57 reg.

    Can’t get 5 people in them. 4 at a push

    • @furtivedig

      there was about 8cm knee room behind my seat I'd say 4 if front seater are short and back seaters even shorter

      @thereallotharmatthae 3 дні тому

      It’s a four seater anyway. Only two rear seats my dears.

  • @Kev50027
    @Kev50027 9 років тому +1

    I wouldn't mind driving one if I never had to look at the outside. They ruined the styling with the F56, the front overhang is too long, those front air intakes on the JCW look like a stupid fish, and the brake lights are way too big. In addition, the entire car is big. Parked next to the R56, an F56 looks positively massive. It's no longer small.
    For that reason, I don't think my next car will be a MINI.

    • @insidelane
      @insidelane  9 років тому +1

      Kev50027 Unfortunately strict new pedestrian crash tests means that Mini had to create a larger overhang. Obviously looks are down to our own individual tastes. I used to complain about Minis not being small cars anymore, but the truth is people wouldn't buy a tiny Mini anymore because it wouldn't have enough space for day-to-day life. People complained about space in the previous car and Mini did lose some customers to competitors as a result, hence the new 5 door Mini.
      Give it a test drive, even if it's just to kill curiosity.

    • @Kev50027
      @Kev50027 9 років тому +1

      Inside Lane Thanks for replying. I know the pedestrian crash tests are the reasoning MINI used for the longer front overhang, but there are plenty of other cars being sold with shorter front overhangs, so I don't think that argument makes sense. Many of these other cars with shorter overhangs have been designed within the past few years too, so it's not like they're only older designs that are still being sold like the Fiat 500.
      I agree about the space argument, but if people wanted a MINI with more space, they could have gotten a Countryman, Paceman, or Clubman. They didn't need to make the hatch bigger to please people, the hatch is MINI's bread and butter, it's what made them who they are, and they screwed it up to please focus groups of people who are used to full sized sedans and SUVs.
      I own an 2011 R56 Cooper S and test drove a F56 Cooper S, and I was surprised how light the steering was and how soft the suspension was. The new car felt nothing like the old one, it felt more like a Kia or Hyundai that was made for comfort, not fun.
      That was just a quick test drive though, so maybe I need to take one for a longer drive to get used to it. Either way, I don't like the cutesy front and rear lights so I would find it hard to own a car I find so ugly. The Paceman looks much better than the hatch now, which is kind of sad.
      I do appreciate the response and the video review though! Just because I disagree doesn't mean I won't keep watching. Keep up the good work!

      @@Kev50027 I think more than the look it is the actually drive that lets you down. the steering is just bland, it sounds like a hooligan though, but it feels engineered to me
