    🔺 Our Mission 🔺
Founded in 1997 in Cedar City Utah, we are a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to wildlife rescue, rehabilitation and education.
    Rescue, Rehabilitate and Release
The Southwest Wildlife Foundation of Utah (SWF) cares for more than 100 sick, injured and orphaned native wildlife annually. Restoring them to health and returning them to the wild is our primary goal.
    Informing, Educating and Inspiring
The SWF provides over 100 educational programs reaching over 30,000 people annually. We believe providing educational outreach programs to schools, scout groups and community events, with focus on children and families, will make the greatest impact in preserving our wildlife, the environment, our public lands and our resources for future generations to enjoy.
    Martin Tyner
Since age twelve, with a bird on his arm, Martin has captivated audiences sharing his knowledge and experience of his wildlife friends.
At age nineteen, Martin was hired as curator of birds of prey at Busch Gardens, CA. He also worked in the movie and television industry training big cats, elephants, primates, sea mammals and raptors.
“One of my greatest childhood fantasies was the desire to create a personal friendship with a wild eagle. I found myself with a love and fascination for these powerful creatures.”
Martin Tyner is a federally licensed falconer, eagle falconer, wildlife rehabilitator, wildlife propagator, and wildlife and environmental educator.
He has been providing wildlife and environmental programs throughout the western United States, to schools, scouts and community groups for over fifty years.
“Grandpa believed in a very simple philosophy; that a person should get up every morning and do good. Doing good means that you do well for others and doing well means that you do good for yourself. There is nothing wrong with doing well, but Grandpa always believed in doing good.”
Martin's book, Healer of Angels, reflects back on his life: from a young boy terrified of birds to becoming the first man in North America licensed to train a wild golden eagle in the ancient art of falconry.
Through a heartwarming collection of true stories he describes his challenging transformation from a shy dyslexic teenager, to the founder and CEO of the Southwest Wildlife Foundation.

Good stuff Martin, and happy birthday, and nice job with Rainbow Red. You made
him feel so at home, he didn't want to fly away and leave you in the end. I don't
blame him, as we all know how tough life can be out on your own. I guess he thought,
I can't leave my babysitter, that gives me easy kill pigeons -- I'd be a fool to leave. You
even had to shoo him off in the end, and still he only flew 20 feet away, and you could
have captured him again. Good luck Rainbow Red. Thanks again for what U do Martin.

I have saved red tailed hawks that somehow get stuck in my screened in porch. The screen is loose in sections. I think they were going after small birds that saw a safe place on my porch. The hawks didin't know how to get back out so I just picked them up and put them back out. They were pretty big but not very smart. I live in North Georgia.

Happy birthday Martin! As a nature lover, especially birds and the big cats( the snow leopards at the zoo are fun to watch!), It's fantastic what you do day in and out! Fortunately, there are numerous red tail's around here, and I love watching them soar looking for a meal. A bit bittersweet though, there are also a fair number of accipiters here that primarily of course feed on the numerous songbirds I feed daily. But it's all a part of nature. I was amazed to learn a red tailed is fully grown after 9 weeks old! I wonder, after they fledge from the nest, do They return to the nest much? Or do they roost at night in nearby trees. Thanks again for all you do!!!!

I love the part where he looks over your hand as if he's looking to see if you have more food.

that red-tail was quite willing to scarf down the food you gave him... normally they are more hesitant. i always wonder after you let them go and they go back to the wild. getting there own food and all . i wonder if any of them are thinking " damn .. i shoulda lived a life of luxury back at that shelter " lol

He is so cute. He started to look straight at the man when he gave him food and when he got tossed into the air, he also looked at him. I would have talked more to the bird and given him a kiss. He actually became a bit tame because he was so young.

You are truly an inspiration, your endless dedication to the most beautiful birds of the sky, we wish you a very happy birthday from a big fan in Ireland, unfortunately we don't have the variety of your birds here but i watch all your videos, you have an amazing and natural ability and are at one with the birds, it must feel so good releasing a bird to the sky. Keep up all the fantastic work you do. 👏
