Awesome job ! I love how you broke each section of the solo down into separate parts , and even brought it to life with rhythm chords in the beginning, amazing Randy put all that together in two months, he was nothing short of phenomenal, and your playing really nails his signature sound , thank you ! 💜🐼🙏🏼🇺🇸
I still get goosebumps when i hear the outro solo, and wish i could hear a much longer version of him continuing. Its like i can hear him trying to say something but gets shut down before we can all hear what Randy was trting to say thru his guitar
One of the most innovative solos I've ever heard. It's pure magic. Randy had an amazing talent of making solos miniature "songs" within a song. The man was a genius and imo nobody is at his level.
My fav album by Ozzy is this one. Diary of A madman I feel IMHO is his best. The solos on here are tripping the light fantastic! . I never get tired of RR either. He was a genus on guitar. Heaven has one hell a band jamming up there.
Nice playing 🤘😆🤘! I love the tone you got too 🎸🎼🎵🎶This is definitely one of my favorite Randy Rhoads solos. I still feel a tinge of sadness when I think about all the music Randy would have created if he were still alive. For someone that had a relatively small recording catalog, his influence on rock guitar can't be overstated. Legend. R.I.P. RR
The outro solo was a one take guide track. He never had a chance to overdue it or work on it It's a beautiful song, we have the isolated guitar tracks with piano...it's amazing. The acoustic playing is great
Really nice breakdown of one of my favorite Randy solos. I remember listening to this and just continually turning up the volume at the end hoping the song would go on forever, just wanting more Randy.
Peak Randy would've been something else. Transcendental! Most compare him to EVH, but to me his true comparison is SRV. Specially on the Live at El Mocambo gig.
@@LicksOfTheBeastif you haven’t I’d encourage you to do search up some old clips of him playing blues. He’s the only one I’ve seen that compares to srv
Here's a nugget, maybe some know or not. He was asked about the why's n wheres of his extensive outro solos, which for anyone playing the songs, it's as important as part of the whole song, incomplete without it. He said he drew inspiration from Bill Nelson of Be Bop Deluxe. This man is a beast in his own right.look him up n you will hear where Randy found the wood for his fire. Nelson doesn't half off any part of a song that transitions from main to verse bridge solo out again n ending. Simply beast
It's a common trope people revert to when they hear playing that is beyond the threshold of what they enjoy. Some say that about Randy Rhoads, others say the same about John Petrucci. Taste is something I will never argue over... But FEEL is such a broad term, usually encompassing everything from note choice and phrasing to tone and small subtleties. Most pro players have very good control of those things, so the claim of so-and-so not playing with feel is usually utter nonsense. It would be more accurate and fair to say "this person's playing doesn't make *ME* feel the way I like".
@@LicksOfTheBeast I find that a lot of people introduce feel about a player when they cannot really argue the person is a great player or songwriter. Randy Rhoads could do it all, write great compositions, could shred, played with intense feeling and he brought in different genres into some great metal music. Randy had great phrasing, he could control his sound live, and he was not afraid to take risks during live shows and try new things for a song. No one is a robot, even Yngwie plays with feeling.

Great video as always Nico. I’m still working on Back In the Village (which I’m happy you covered earlier!) I have to say, I’d love to see you cover a solo from Helloween, like Future World. Kind of like what you did with Ratt and Andy!
There is an interview online of Randy talking about how rushed the 2nd album was. He even said he didn't like the over the mountain solo because to him it was just flash. Out of other interviews it seems mostly only diary and flying high again was the solos he had time to work out. He seemed very unhappy with his guitar parts but good enough for not having more time.
@austinallen7100 I read that article also. The Little Dolls song was the one where the solo was the placeholder (guide track). He planned to add one but never got to it. You can tell by listening to it. The rest of the solos on that album may not have match his standards but they are at least structured and actual solos. Imagine what he could do if he had more time.
@@robm321 no the outro solos are guide tracks, Vito Bratta talked about this,.,it is common knowledge among his peers. Max Norman said Randy did not work out those outro solos that is why they just rolled tape.

Diary of a Madman is a masterpiece, arguably the best album ever written.

Much much appreciated, thank you!
This my favourite Randy's solo! Fucking awesome 👏
Fantastic bro! If only you could dig in some of Michael Schenker's solos from One night at Budokan (1982). They drive me crazy, man!
why this is about Randy Rhoads, Shankar is not where Randy is in terms of influence and playing
Fantastic! So many deep cuts never get talked about. Great video 😎

The outro solo to You Can't Kill Rock and Roll ...also a one take guide track.

Its great hearing someone try to explain what randy did on that guitar he was a gift from god
Tonight should have been a single with a video, it is an incredible ballad... mismanagement by Darth Hideous not ready to ball for MTV
I love the outro solo to You Cant Kill Rock n Roll! Everything he played is timeless! \,,/,
That's a great one! The slow ascending melody he plays just as the fade starts is so intense...
Love when he hits the flange!
Iv been to his Grave site. He lives in My heart. And he will go with me to My Grave..Rip RANDY RHOADES 🎸
have you been to the Musonia
I think my favorite Randy solo is from Revelation (Mother Earth) for me its still amazing. Mr Crowley is a close 2nd for me.
great solos, he did not have time to work on the solos on DOAM like he did on BOO
My favorite RR solo from DOAM. Mr Crowley from Blizzard.
Even if “Tonight” isn’t RR’s best soloing, it certainly is his most desperately emotive and roaring lead with Ozzy, in my opinion.
How some hacks do not think Randy Rhoads played with emotion is laughable, the guy always found the right sound for a song to sell the emotion

It's definitely a fun riff and it's rewarding to be able to play it along with the album once you have it down!
@ agreed. I think that did a great job on the track, especially on the solo.
It's not misunderstood. The idiot engineer created a sin against us all for a PREMATURE FADE OUT. I still won't forgive him. Lol
