I cannot emphasize enough how magical that 2018 season was for Wazzu. Considering it started on such a sad and tragic note, that year went about as well as anyone could've asked for. The thing about the end of it all that hurt the most wasn't missing out on a CFP spot--I don't remember any of us expecting the Committee to seriously give us a nod unless we beat the brakes off Washington--but missing out on a shot at the Rose Bowl. Losing to Washington meant that we lost the North Division title to the Huskies on a tiebreaker, and the result was the most boring Pac-12 Championship game in the series' run. If we'd managed to beat USC, or if the PAC didn't have those stupid, *stupid* divisions, we would've made the title game, (probably) beaten Utah, and made our third Rose Bowl appearance in the modern era.
