Imagine running a sub-58 half marathon and breaking the old world record... and you get in 4th. One of the best road races in history
James its drugs and Beetroot juice i also ran a 5min PB.

Four men under 58 minutes. Just wow

Imagine setting the Half Marathon WR with Avengers music playing... Incredible.
That is so awesome! Whoever’s choice that was is so genius, I bet that fueled the runners!
I was thinking the same thing! 😂
Imagine breaking the world record for the half......and finishing FOURTH.
@@runcaz7802 IMAGINE BREAKING THE WORLD RECORD FOR THE HALF
@@runcaz7802 This is so crazy. If I was in the organizing committee, I would reward those athlete too.
Rhonex Kipruto bested the existing world record in his debut in Half marathon. Wow.
Yes but the most impressive is Kiplimo 57'37"(5seconds slower than the Wr)at only 20 years old
Rhonex kipruto is 20 yrs too.. that debut time at 20 is something else
Just imagine what this new generation will be capable of?!

Rip Legend
I think we’re right on the brink of some new marathon world records based off this. This time is maddeningly fast
Seems you were right! If you look at the leaderboard at the end, you can see 6th place, kelvin kiptum who split off the main 4 a bit over 2/3 distance, he now holds the marathon record by a solid margin, first sub 2:01 if I recall correctly.
Unfortunately he did, one of the biggest what if in sports, he was only 22. Rest in Peace Kelvin😢

DRUGS.
That’s 4:23 per mile, for 13.1 miles straight. I cannot keep that pace for more than 3 laps around the track...just unreal speed and endurance!
i can't even run a 400m at that pace
Absolutely insane. 4:23 pace feels like a sprint. For 13.1 miles

The Avengers Theme song at the end is so fitting! What a race.
Just 4:23 per mile. Keep in mind that he would've beaten Henry Rono in his world record 10K and then kept going for another 11K. Astonishing
Congratulations Kandie and to other participants as well.... Valencia the best record breaking course. Thanks to the organisers.

This race was 🔥🔥🔥 Top 3 gonna be a problem for some years to come those guys are young. Kiplimo's running just looks so smooth and effortless 👨🏿🦲⚒💪🏿
Improvements in shoe technology might be controversial, but I'm honestly excited to see what these runners can do in this new era. World records are being obliterated and we're seeing things that we never thought were possible just a few years ago. I mean, Kiplimo crushing the previous world record by 25 seconds at age 20 is just crazy (and he didn't even win the race!).
I believe this is great for the fans and I can't wait to witness a sub 2h marathon.

The most exciting race of 2020.
appreciating a moment in history where Kelvin Kiptum was yet to be... the marathon world record holder. RIP my guy.
2020 the year of the world record. This year is like the year in baseball when everyone had 45 homers. makes you think why.
This what should happen all the time actually! African runners have been over racing to make money, if they could run 2 big races in year like americans tend to do, you would see amazing stuff! I know runners who ran 12-15 races a year! Do you really think they can perform a their best? Yes there is doping in some runners like in any other sport, but still don't think that all that you are seeing is impossible!
Here’s why: everybody was peaking for 2020 because of the olympics. But now, instead of going to the olympics and doing championship style racing in order to win a medal, they get to race for time with way less pressure, but still in peak fitness.
Not surprising because the lack of a proper season essentially turns these “races” into time trials, which tend to lead to better times than outright racing.
They were peaking for 2020 Olympics and fresh from not racing all year. It may be a few years before we see this again. If they put a lot of $ incentive on breaking a WR that would help
lots of time to perfect their doping cycles
I still cant get over this race.
Congrats!!
4 runners at sub-58 is just unreal.. congratulations to all of them!
when looking at the list of top-contestants it shows how the high altitude training and determination of the Kenyans pays off.. very well deserved!

Just Amazing!
Kiplimo 57:37 (5 seconds slower than the current Wr) at only 20 years old.No way! That's impressive
Congratulation!!!!
This is incredible
Nah, someone messed something up. I get 4 people running, maybe 2 under world record. BUT 4 UNDER THE WORLD RECORD AND 58?
Well the previous WR was 58:01 so if you expected a certain number of athletes to break the WR, they would almost certainly break 58 (bar the small chance of someone running 58 flat)
we've got bags of time to let the marathon develop
Anyone know what Adidas shoes these are?
You know there’s going to be a TRP video on this soon lol
That's World Record 🏆 Pain On His Face
Literally not even out of breath at all. 🤯
I envy the form of the athletes
So good
The Kandie-man!
Is truly mind blowing to think how every year in Valencia, World records are smashed by 20 plus seconds, which is an insane margin of progress achieved in less than a year ....... just amazing..... So based on the above, It is safe to say that a half marathon run under 57 is within a 2 year's time ..?
Imaging running 57:37 and Kiplimo is second. BUMMER!
4 guys under 58 minutes... Wow
shoes have lowered everyone's time - still good but compare to old times allow for times before the shoes
waoo no lo puedo creer increible antes estaba en 58-01 y ahora que 57-32 que velocidad
Holy smokes batman. Amazing running!
I suggest you don't put the winner in the title of a video as that takes all of the suspense and mystery out of the race. I deliberately did not read the title so it did not spoil it for me.
If you care that much about suspense, watch it live. The world doesn’t revolve around you.
Comeing soon
oh my GOD
Kandie makes somewhat sense to break the record. Kiplimo also makes sense to break the record. But Kipruto for his first Half Marathon to go under the previous WR is insane!!!!
Come on now! A good 10k guy will always run well for half marathon! It's a no brainer...Rhonex to me is better runner than Kamworor and he is the 10k world record holder (26:24)...27:25 pace is not that hard for him! It makes perfectly sense for him to run under 58.
@@patpatson9201 I respect your opinion and you do make good points. Rhonex is also one of the best athletes. The thing is that a 10k on the roads and a half marathon are completely different events that require completely different training to run. I have run both and the 10k is a mixture of good endurance matched with great speed. A half marathon around a 20k with an extra mile so it requires much much more strength achieve a great time. You also need a much better mental aspect. From my experience in the half, around the 18k most people who have never ran the distance would want to quit because they have never handled the sheer length of the distance. To run this fast for your first half marathon is incredibly rare and this performance makes him one of the favorites to win the 10000m gold in the 2021 olympics
@@penguinmilkshake6257 Don't forget Rhonex ran 26:24 on the roads and he is a good cross country runner too! Mental toughness ain't an issue, the mileage these guys are doing week in week out without breaking up for peaking too many times a year makes it doable! Marathon that is something else for him, but a good 10k guy can easily prepare a specific half marathon within 8weeks no problem (considering you are already in shape, not coming back from injury or long break). Kandie surprised many but not Kiplimo neither Kipruto 😉
@@patpatson9201 You have some great points. I’m still surprised at his performance but it makes somewhat sense because of his training and mental toughness. Same thing with Kiplimo. I do still think it made sense why Kandie won because of how many half marathons he won. I will say that most good 10k runners can’t transition to the half well, these guys are just a different breed
@@patpatson9201 I would say 8 weeks is a stretch but Kipruto and Kiplimo has plenty of time to have a great performance
Great last 2k!
6:15 - What happened to the timer there?
Do I mishear or are they playing the Infinity War theme as Kandie is finishing?
kudos..without any hype breaking world record...
after all, he's not even tired
Chill avengers music in the background 😂
Sure, Kandie’s world record was great, but I find it equally impressive that Rhonex Kipruto ran a sub-58 debut.
How old is he?
Kipruto 20yrs, Kiplimo 19yrs and Kandie 24yrs all very young runners.
@@niceyx7935 WOW very young!
We looking to the first sub 2 hour marathon. It’s just a matter of time. I am old enough thinking sub 1 hour and 2 minutes was fast and 2 hours and 10 minutes for the marathon was the standard top time.
INSANE 😳
Even the Avengers were impressed at the end!
meanwhile, I can barely do a 5k in under 20 minutes... :(
Imagine, most of people under 30 cant run even 3km in 20min...
Be happy, under 20min 5k it's better than like 90% of the people in the casual races...
I am in the 16's and usually top5 without money prizes. Meanwhile their easy/moderate long runs split 15's 😭

Which Running Shoe is it in Yellow?
wonderful race, of course. the broadcast, however, especially in its choices of what camera to follow when, as well as when to split the screen, is pretty terrible. the dramatic last 3 kilometers of the men's half marathon should have been the sole focus of the show; why they mixed in shots of the women and full marathon (in which nothing was going on) is a head-scratcher.
Thank for race organizers for concerning pacemakers not putting wavelengths
For the very, very few people who don't understand how crazy this is: Try running 400 meters (1 lap around a track) in 65.45 seconds. Now do that about 52.75 times in a row. Good luck.
I'd be thrilled to make it 800m at that pace. These fuckers are crazy XD
Run 100 m in 16.35 sec continuously for 21 km. 210 times. This is basically a flat out sprint of an average person.
