R.I.P to Kelvin Kiptum You will be missed, and so young too :(
Godspeed on your next marathon in the world beyond ✊🏃
hi chicken
UA-cam recommends me this video right on the day I learn of Kiptum's passing. It's sad how we lost such a great runner.
All we can do now is remember him and continue his legacy ❤
Awwww - that is so sad!!😫😖
People die twice: once in reality and again when no one remembers them. I will never forget his Chicago run or this one for that matter. All of us running will keep his memory living on
LONG LIVE KELVIN KIPTUM
RELY🤔
People die three times: once when you actually die, once when someone says your name for the last time, and once when someone thinks of you for the last time
Kiptum Highlights
1:12:35 they finally mention Kiptum
1:13:10 pacers drop
1:31:25 they talk about Kiptum at length and are flabbergasted by him doing this on his debut
1:35:00 "we've never had someone debut inside 2:03" as Kiptum breaks away from the rest
1:37:50 Kiptum only did one race this year before this and did not finish
1:45:00 They realize Kiptum is destroying the course record and maybe inside 2:02
1:48:00 14mins for the last 5k
1:51:40 "If you didn't know his name when you woke up this morning, you will know it when you go to bed"
1:54:30 Is Kiptum the next Kipchoge?
2:02:00 Finish!!
2:12:30 interview
Legend
Was literally hoping someone wrote this
thanks
Congratulations 👏👏👏👏👏
There should be a "love this comment" emoji response for golden comments
Kiptum is a phenom.. he's going to become a legend, what a debut ahha he was running at almost 200 spm.. incredible
I clocked him at exactly 200 strides/min when he made his break just past 30 km. That's a stride made for the marathon. No energy wasted with excessive ankle dorsiflexion. So his feet pop off the road and he skims over it rather than sinking into it.
I agree! . the great Gebrselassie used to run with a very high cadence around 200..Eliud a little less .around 185-190 . which is effective as well..of course a cadence below 180 is not efficient
though.
@@yeahhhhh9209 Yes. And as beautiful as Gidey's stride is, I don't think it's ideally suited for the marathon. She lopes a bit too much. Bariso's looked much more efficient. Gidey's times at the half-marathon and shorter are of course tremendous, but she may have difficulty running the full marathon much faster than she did in Valencia.
@@randyevermore9323 agreed.. she's still very young.. still she runs with a pretty slow cadence, probably below 180, cause she's very powerful ..if she can improve her running economy ,she's going to beat even the marathon record ..for sure.
New meeting Record
Thanks Kiptum for putting us again in the world map you make African proud once again congratulation.
As much as I admire Eliud I think he looks almost robotic whereas Kelvin seems to really show he's giving his all (especially later in London). I hope to see him on the Kaptagat forest roads.
Just a beauty to watch you run..will miss you champ...Still in disbelief...RIP😭😭
Not even a second their shoes touches the ground🙏🙏and me here, i am struggling!Rest in peace legend, Kiptum
The finishing prowess is unmatched. Kiptum forever will be missed. Rest in power
YES😎
Rest in power Kiptum..the fire in your eyes was a real sign you gave everything in whatever you did to become the best..and you left this world the best..🎉😢❤
We will surely miss you..At last my brother ✨✨✨🙏🏾
When i seee Kelvin Kiptum raising Kenyan flag as the champion have shade tears with no imagination he is gone😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 he was such a polite and humbled champion even from winning he wins with humbleness and appreciation to everyone, Kiptum's victory picture raising our flag will be the only picture of a Hero stay on my wall as a memory
The confidence Kiptum has tell you he will be one to watch. This is his debut race. His running with elite athletes who have accomplished more than he has, then the guy has the guts to gesture to the other runners something like hey guys lets go faster or what. you guys need to up the pace while looking very comfortable and the other two athletes seemed to be giving it all. Who does that.
Then Kiptum goes to run the third fastest times in the world. My only question is how come this accomplishment is not being highlighted in other major athletic media like world athletics and others. Imagine if he has competition with him like running with Kip may be one of the could have run a sub 2.
Iam very proud watching our Kenyan winning the race, but very unfortunate to hear about his tragic death 😢
Congratulations for Both Ethiopian and Kenyan, women and men Marathon winners 🏆🥇
Cheaters you mean
What are they waiting to declare Valencia a major marathon??it is so beautiful...and fast...saludos
FINALLY the suitable replacement for kipchoge is KIPTUM. this young man is flying, thats terrific speed.conggragulations bro. keep up n records must be broken including sub 2
sadly we'll never know - kiptum rip.
Oh my lord 😱. On debut. 2:01:53 . This guy is very seriously talented 🔥
And probably so full of drugs it’s a miracle he wasn’t glowing
@@kiely4561we have no reason to suspect that yet. Just enjoy the show man
@@wesleytwiggs7687 there are plenty of reasons to suspect that. The guy is young but for some reason he has not competed in a WA sanctioned race in over a year. He has come out of nowhere and there is no pattern of progressive improvement. This is exactly what WADA lick their lips about.
@@mathieudube6907 meh. It is what it is. I’m impressed either way.
Or he is very seriously doped. Like many Kenyans.
Congratulations to all the runners ,all are winners ,from California
No, that's disrespectful to the actual winners.
Kiptum…veo sus carreras y aunque ya no esta en este mundo fue feliz con sus grandes logros!
I know announcing these races is difficult but there were some interesting things about the way Kiptum ran. He turned his whole body a few times (they made a note of it later but I don’t think it was a sign of his concern; just as I think his changes in arm carriage may have reflected elevation changes). He seemed very confident. He made the sign of the cross a couple of times, including as he pushed the pace to break down his competition. And he did something where he took off his watch and almost showed it to Geay. I’m not sure exactly what he was doing, but the announcers later said he wasn’t wearing a watch and should have noticed him taking it off.
Legendary stuff, brother. The future is only brighter!
Great commentating! A lot of useful informations.
Bro you were a real championin the athletic world is gonna miss you dearly rest easy and dance with angels
Kelvin,it is now few days since you left us in suspense, may your shinning star remain in our country
Well run Matt Rees. I know how hard he has trained for that pb. And how much it means to him, well done sir 👏👏👏
Continue resting in peace our chaampion Kelvin Kiptum, as Kenyans you will forever live in our hearts😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭☹☹☹☹☹☹☹☹

CAMON DO,NT JUST SHED YOUR TEARS PRAY🤠🤩
so very amazing to all the leading Runners women and men
Kelvin Kiptum has a gorgeous stride.
A message to anyone who uploads races to UA-cam - please don't put the results in the title of the video!! I didn't know the result (and didn't want to) - until I watched the race for myself 🙂
Nice capture, great presentation
Kiptum the greatest marathoner of all time. Continue resting in perfect peace king!
Thank you for sharing 👏🏼 clear enough
Rest in peace kevin we already missed you😢😢😢😢
Ele simplesmente tirou o relógio e foi com o pace da mente que por sinal esta a muito forte! Que prova fantastic!

So many sad moments here, every time they mentioned Kiptum's lack of experience or premature kick, the comment about the Kenyan record being safe, Kiptum "probably doing [about 115 miles] in training"... How wrong they were about all of these. Rest in peace GOAT
Oh and worst of all, "Kelvin Kiptum listen out for that name, it is here to last a few years..."
@joelmacinnes2391😢😢😢 may his soul rest in peace, the only person who I thought would easily run a sub 2hr
@MakemoneywithKim it was surely just a matter of time, it's bloody desperate- I'm sure it'll fall one day but this record could easily stand for several decades
I can see the winner praying at 1:21:15 🍾🥂
It's 1:37:18
Winner prayed severally during the race and surely God Almighty answered his prayer!
Praying he doesn't get caught for doping
He did it a couple times. Once running wide on a turn before the lead pack dwindled and again as he made his move.
The king of marathon😢😢😢😢
He is such a powerful n beautiful runner!
I admire so much pacers' job.
sensacional a corrida simplesmente espetacular, é uma triste perda para o esporte o falecimento de kelvin kiptum vencedor nessa maratona.
Felicitaciones para las corredoras etíopes siempre son mis favoritas
Them Kenyans go hard though probs to them
Rest in peace bro😢
R.I.P KELVIN KIPTUM 😢🙏🏿
watching from Brooklyn New York U S A
1:22:01 the commentator says “they’ve still got the best part of 40 minutes of running” almost exactly to the second 40 minutes before the finish
We have lost a hero. RIP Kiptum😭😭😭
Rest easy my dear kip.May the heavens receive you with grace
Continue to rest in peace kipyum we won't forget you 🙏 ❤️ ♥️
0:01 I reckon that Kiptum bloke from Kenya is gonna go alright
ARE THEY RUNNING THIS FAR
Woow! Incredible" another true speed Hunter. That was fantastic..
It was soo good for him, he enjoyed the Race, and happy when nearing to the finishing line...Wait to see you in your Next Race. All the best ..
Congratulations to the winners and everyone who participated in this race your all winners we love you champions of our planet Earth🎉🎉🎉😭
2:18:49 que excelente actitud del muchacho de playera azul, no fue primer lugar pero el lo celebro su propio triunfo
The commentators are not realizing that the half marathon time are under world mark!
It is just amazing watching Kiptum running. He moves with style. Now he is gone 😭😭😭
Beriso was upset the pacers only stuck with Gidey ...they must have been sub 2:14 pace marathoners to be picked for the job but their remit must have been to focus on the favourite and not the leading woman who might have collapsed before the finish like the Brazilian fellow in Chicago. Should pacers have an agreement to split their allegiance in such a case?
I wondered, unless her team was paying for him. The guy in the blue shirt was clearly running just with her in a support role rather than pacing.
Parabéns pelo seu trabalho!
Rest Easy champion 🏆😢❤
Congratulations kelvin
Where was this city of place taken ?
It is incredible how in Km30 (1:32:00) Kelvin was asking the two favorites left on leading group to pick up the pace O_O ! they were being too slow for him, and being his debut in Marathon distance i guess he was having a bit confused, shall he push it or hold on with them. i am sure if the pacers focused on WR rather than CR, there is a chance he could break it on his debut. REALLY another Level.
Again in 1:34:00 was like arguing with them hahaha
WOW! Kelvin removes his watch
Rest in peace Kelvin!! My Champ
The depth in runners coming out of East Africa is absolutely rediculous!!! It's almost getting to be normal to see these stunning times. It's hard to keep up with it. This guy could obliterate Kipchoges record!
Well done buddy ,well done almost there sub. 2 hr 🤠👌✌️...
Rest in eternal peace Kelvin Kiptum
Kiptum no more, we lost him yesterday
Could this be the guy to take the torch from Kipchoge and perhaps goes under 2 hours in a ratified race?
Of course if he keeps improving
Of course
R.i.p kelvin 😢
RiP ❤ Kelvin Kiptum❤
O Atletismo mundial perde um Nobre atleta Deus o receba Kiptun.
REST EASY LEGEND, KELVIN KITPUM
Rip my brother God 🙏 put u in a good place 😂😂😂😂😂❤❤❤❤❤❤
You crazy why you laughing 😢
RIP kiptum😢
Unbelievable
Wooow!! By the grace of God he did it.
Man they really couldn’t talk about race organizers and their competition with each other
الأبطال المتواضعون
RIP champion
2:01:22 what a human
I love runners
В каких кроссовки бежал?
Why did he take his watch off?
Kipchoge is in trouble😨😨
These times are becoming ridiculous i think if Rob De Castella, Steve Jones and Carlos Lopes in the 80s were running in the Nike A;phaflys they would have run faster as well.
You joking with the talent in east Africa or what ...😢
Can we not put the results in the title? Completely spoiled it
I hope they continue putting the results in the title so people like you can get spoiled.
@@mkdesu they're only hurting their own retention
I would use my shoes for the 5 -10k distance because I just did a marathon and my legs need a break 😢
hundredth runner makes 2:07 ! some circus ! Lopes, De Castella, Jones, take a walk !😂
👏👏👏✌✌
Marinoni Claudio in Milan
Notice at 2:21:58 that they messed up the country flag on Sinead Diver's bib with the classic Austrian Australian mixup. Awkward. But wow what a performance!
1:43:15 but that's where they're wrong
Gabriel Gaey! asichukuliwa poa! Walkenya wamwogope!
The Great kelvin !
Rest in Peace Kiptum
