I'm 5 foot 10. As of today, I weighed and it said 182. I started out at 575! I didn't get a surgery, I did this my own way! Took alot of fat burners, stayed on a strict diet. I also forced myself to excercize ever day, no matter what. I've been under 200 for a couple years now. Never give up!

I'm a truck driver. I gained 40 lbs my first year out. I've since gotten rid of it and I never ever eat road food. Ever.
But, sometimes I see the saddest things. Guys who barely get out of their truck, guys with black legs from untreated diabetes, guys with explosive looking red faces. I see it all. We don't work in an environment that includes much health care. We all have insurance and no time to get to an appointment. As long as the wheels are turning, everyone is making money.
It often has a lot to do with whether or not you have someone at home who cares about you. I can definitely see the difference in those of us that have that and those that don't.
These are my people, I'm proud to live and work next to them and wish they'd take better care of themselves.

Yeah and one thing I noticed is how HUGE the portions are at truck stops! I used to be obese, and although I'm not a trucker, I loved eating at truck stops because I got so much food in one single meal. That felt like a bargain, but it was making it so much easier for me to keep getting fatter.

As a mom this episode hurts me. I’ve dealt with weight issues my whole life, being on both ends of the spectrum. I’m 5’11 and got down to 115 and flipped it and got all the way up to 350 in about 2 years. I’ve struggled my whole life trying to find a balance and I push hard to ensure my 2 boys have a healthy relationship with food.
They’re both young but they’re both at a perfect weight and active in sports. I hope they continue with good choices when they can make the decisions. It hurts my heart seeing parents enable their children to such a degree they end up like this. Thank you for your insight!

I know what you mean. I've been in both ends of the spectrum myself, and I know that struggle. So it was important for me to teach my children better eating habits and just better decision-making all around. But I've seen a lot of my friends put chocolate milk or sweet tea in their bottles or sippy cups, and somehow, I'm the jerk for giving my kids water in theirs. I don't understand how a parent could use food to keep their kids quiet or as a reward. I really don't understand how they could continue to feed them awful things when they get to a point that their lives are in danger. Like I understand loving your kids and just wanting them to be happy, but it have to love them enough to say no sometimes. I'm glad you were able to teach your kids better than we were thought.

i’ve never understood that concept of people requiring their kids to clean their plate. Yes, I know some kids are picky eaters and they will opt out of food plenty of times but here’s the thing kids will eat if they’re hungry enough point-blank and it’s also you get what you get and you don’t throw a fit you eat what is served within reason I mean I’m not going to intentionally make a big meal that I know my entire family doesn’t like I’m obviously going to try to cook things that they do like or that they will probably like if they’ve never tried them before but if they’re not hungry they don’t need to eat just because I cooked a meal. They know that the meal will still be there. I’ll leave the food out for a while and then I put the leftovers away and if they want that they can have it, and if they really want some thing else, they can make some thing else for themselves. I’m talking about my kids that are old enough to prepare a small meal for themselves. If they decide they want mac & cheese then that’s fine. My kids are very active. Sometimes they need the extra calories sometimes they don’t, but that’s up to them to decide, it’s not like oh now I cook supper now you have to eat or I just made brownies you need to eat them now they can decide when and if they are hungry and if they’re hungry, they will eat

I'm kinda shy, I don't love huge crowds so we won't be hanging out in all the "must see" most traveled sites, but do you know any good less-traveled spots?
We're probably staying on Oahu (she's still getting reservations because we're not going till this winter). I'd rather spend time with my friends on a less "spectacular" beach or hiking area, than with huge crowds just to see the "best view" places.
Here in the Minnesota/Iowa Midwest area, we've gone spelunking in lots of wild caves which were more fun (for us) than when we visited Carlsbad Caverns. Sometimes the road less traveled can be the prettiest road 🥰 especially for shy people.

Hi Sean, love your videos. So good to hear your insights.
I once had a morbidly obese friend and his mum was seriously enabling him by over-feeding. She had lost a baby before she had my friend and took all that grief out on him by over-feeding him. I tried my best to help empower him but he was scared to be honest with his mum, who was super controlling. When he was at work he only snacked occassionally on fruit but at home he would be fed enough for 4 people each meal and he was too weak willed and scared to say no. The more I encouraged him to become his own man the more his mother hated me and she did her best to remove all friends from him, she wanted to be his entire life. She got her way eventually and he never lost the weight. He's still mummy's boy and she still won't let him be his own person. This video reminded me of that. Sometimes things are so complicated and trauma can cause so many issues to other people.

I think it's very wierd that a mother would make her kid so unhealthy. That's not very motherly, it's also up to her kid too. My husband has a mom like that, the only skinny person in the family. She had WLS, and now borderline anorexic, and overfeeds everyone else. Dumps butter on everything, and don't tell her you're on a diet, she will have 3 desserts that night to tempt you. Weird as hell, I couldn't do that to people I loved. I moved in with my husband at his parents house a few years back (I was from across the country from him when we got together and he was in school for nursing staying with them until he started work). I gained 50lbs in the first 2 months being there. That was my fault, I had a total lifestyle change moving in with him, became a housewife and struggled to get that weight off since. I started walking this year though, and we are going no contact with his parents as they are also controlling.

After I gave birth my legs swelled, never experienced that before. Once I got home and settled, I literally was having to pee non stop. Dropped 15lbs in a day. It was crazy. I was around 220 at the time so totally believe someone 3x as big could retain 50+ lbs in water weight.

This happens to me too, but the swelling starts way before giving birth. In the week after giving birth to my twins I lost 60lbs. I ended up being 10 lbs less than when I got pregnant. My doctor was telling me I was gaining too much. Turns out it was all babies, placentas, and water. I actually lost fat.

as an OB/GYN, I can tell you that’s very normal. Let me tell you a little story. For example, when I checked in to give birth to my first child, I weighed 171 pounds and very petite person. I don’t know where I carried it because I was dimensionally still quite small I mean I was still wearing my pre-pregnancy clothes even though my normal weight was only about 120 when we left the hospital all of my friends that have been visiting who our guys were saying oh my God you’ve lost all the weight already you look great and obviously I gave birth to a 7 1/2 pound baby plus everything else that comes out so when I was leaving the hospital I was shocked and surprised that the jeans that I brought I couldn’t even get over my thighs and I ended up having to wear the same pair of sweatpants home, and my husband said on the way out of the hospital oh here’s a scale inside this other room why don’t you step on it on our way home it’ll make you feel better. I stepped on the scale and I weighed 170 pounds so there you have it folks. oh here’s a scale inside this other room why don’t you step on it on our way home it’ll make you feel better. I stepped on the scale and I weighed 170 pounds so there you have it folks. I was incredibly swollen. Major edema when I got home my hands, my fingers My feet my legs, but literally within a matter of a couple days it all disappears. It’s all water retention from all of the IV fluids, hormone changes, etc..

Plus the concern of health complications to patients from the repeated travel.

My 3 younger brothers were raised by our maternal grandparents, my brothers and I were fat. It wasn't what we ate, it was how much we were given. We didn't have much candy, if we went to the grocery store with grandma and we were good or if we stayed home with our aunt, we got a candy bar. Grandma would make popsicles out of Kool-Ade, we always had fresh fruit and vegetables. My brother and I were in school, the other 2 brothers were too young, lunch for us was 2 sandwiches with lettuce and tomatoes, chips, a baggy with some kind of fruit and cookies or cupcakes and a can of soda, we were only 5 and 6 years old. when we got home grandma had a snack for us, this is how she showed us she loved us, she was taking care of us, they were so good to us, when I was around 10, I started slimming down, grandma said I was losing my baby fat, we hadn't seen our mom in 8 years, and she didn't recognize me, at least that's what she told my aunt, how in the world can you not recognize your own kid, especially when she's your only daughter.

It's great that you're doing a lot of weight lifting and walking, have you considered doing harder cardio like running, bike riding, swimming, etc.? Running is probably the biggest calorie burner but swimming is also great because it's like a full body workout and intense cardio as well. I feel like if you work hard enough in the gym then you don't have to be as careful with your diet.

    • @Seanofsteel

Honestly running is kinda hard for me my knee is blown. I also have a deteriorating back from all the weight I had on it. So it would have to be low impact exercise. But I am going to get a membership somewhere I can swim cause I love it. Plus I haven’t been swimming in like 7 years.

@@Mrs.TJTaylor I've actually been outrunning a bad diet. Lost almost 40 pounds in the last year and I pretty much eat whatever I want but I exercise very intensely. I've even run over 4 miles which at my weight can burn nearly 800 calories. I workout about 5 days a week mixing up weights, swimming, and running.

Running is not the biggest calorie burner and can be a lot more hurtfull than any other sports! Going to the gym, getting advices from real professionnals, like a personnal trainer and an expert in nutrition is better! Motivation is the key! Doing sports you enjoy will keep you active all your life! Swimming is the best way to do some cardio workout, without putting strain on your knees and back! I guess if you havent done it in 7 years, must be cause you were not feeling confortable to put on a bathing suit in public( like 99% of the world 😉)...? Forget about what others may think or say and just do it! ✌️

I relate to the feeling of unfairness! (When you said he has a thinner face than you did) because my body completely gave out of me when I was 212 pounds. Everything I ate made me sick, I'd spend HOURS in the bathroom every day. I could walk but I was in constant pain and I fell a lot. I couldn't sleep unless I had a nest of pillows to take the pressure off my most sore joints. It's annoying that my "rock bottom" was 212 pounds when there are people who are still able to eat whatever they want and can even still walk at over 600 or 700 pounds. I'm grateful that my body didn't allow that to happen to me (I was a food addict for sure and thought I'd never change) but it's still one of those things that makes me think damn that's not fair.

You prob have the answer by now, but I will add what others are prob saying: she seemed to feel really bad once they found out how much her son weighed, and the part she played in that, once they found out. Lastly, right…you know what they say about big feet? Big feet mean big socks. That’s truly unique. Never lose that quick wit.
