I saw the wholecut on a website next to other types of shoes, and you're right about it being a 5th choice. By nature it doesn't "stand out" like other shoes, and most people would most likely spend those $300+ on something that catches their eye more, or if they want simplicity would choose no lace boots or dress/casual loafers. All the points you made were spot on though.
I think the wholecut is the quintessential dress shoe it’s elegant and blends in with a tuxedo or any other classic ensemble it doesn’t take away from what I think is the main focal point on any formal attire which I think would be the shirt and tie.
I have a pair of Allen Edmonds Fairfax wholecuts. I have to agree these require a lot better cut of hide to make. That said, wholecuts have a certain "snazz" that doesn't work with anything below a suit or Jacket and tie, unless they are a lighter brown. Wholecuts are elegant, but can draw attention to the shoe when you might not want to. I'd love a pair of wholecuts in Horween #8 if I could... That might just be the best.
+Dean Wiersma Solid point. Black shoes are best worn with a suit then pair your jeans with brown shoes. www.realmenrealstyle.com/wholecut-leather-shoes/
These are rather nice shoes. I'm especially taken by the gradient from the darker toe to the lighter body of the shoe. It gives the shoes a crisp, wooden appearance in conjunction with the lack of stitching.
+Real Men Real Style how about how to choose a perfect wallet from a bill fold to a tri fold to the checkbook style wallet. Or maybe the different types of belts, like rope belts, leather belts and how to choose the perfect one.
I have a pair of Salvatore Ferragamo Silvio Wholecuts in black. I get a huge number of complements on these shoes. I love them, unfortunately I’ve outgrown them and can’t seem to find a replacement. Thanks
When you think about it's kind of sad. People will buy a new iPhone every year or spend thousands of dollars on a camera body/lens that they don't need, but they won't invest in a pair of nice shoes. $369 is nothing considering how long they'll last you.
Athelstan an iPhone/camera body/lens are much better investments lol. With those two things alone, you can make money back ten fold. A pair of shoes cannot lol. $369 is never nothing and there are plenty of other reasonably priced shoes that last just as long.
@@timmychanofficial unless you're an ios app developer or a photo journalist taking pictures on the go which you can also do with a Google Pixel or Samsung Galaxy or any decent phone. I'm not saying that shoes are more important than phones but if you're willing to spend 2k for an iPhone every year then it's also reasonable to spend a couple of hundreds dollars on a good pair of shoes that last you a decade. Btw, I neither own any pair of dress shoes nor an iPhone :D . I save 60% of my income for investment. Hope that one day they'll pay off.
I love this style of shoe, unfortunately I have not found one that is wide enough for my feet as I have gotten older and my feet seem to have gotten wider. My Allen Edmonds cap toe in red fits my needs for this elegant design.
I can't believe you have to ask a question like this! The answer is clearly no on account of minimizing expenditure. Also intersting point in this regard, he may or may not be able to claim tax deductions on these clothes. Probably not, because they are considered a personal expenditure by default, even businessmen can't claim suits.
I really need to pick up a pair of paul evans monk straps. I bought some monks from aldo to see if I liked the style and I completely wore them out. I don't think I'll ever go back to an oxford or derby.
Would you please do a video on wearing white buck shoes and white leather loafers? I really want to try a pair of white leather shoes but I can't put my finger on what would go well with those, and how formal are they?
Great video! If you haven't already done so, I would love to see a video on proper shoe cleaning and maintenance. I honestly don't even know where to begin with taking care of my shoes, and I would like to know how to keep them looking nicer longer.
I own a wholecut pair of dress shoes. It's weird at first to look down and see them. I'm a wingtip fan and like the details. From my experience, I shine my wholecuts a lot more to keep them shiny, and I don't feel as inclined to do so with other dress shoes. Creases are much more obvious on them than normal dress shoes, but I find more people notice my wholecuts than my other pairs. Could be my imagination.
Hey, great video. Needed on help with a decision. I am ordering a bespoke captoe oxford. I am confused weather to have quarter brogue or plain.. I mainly want to wear it for formal occasions/ office/ client meetings. Please advise.
Hi Antonio. I'm looking to get myself a wholecut shoe. This is my first wholecut shoe. I'm undecided on the colour. Could you please shed some light on this?
Antonio, First let me say I have enjoyed all of your videos. I recommend your channel to all of my friends (men and women). Secondly, I have been trying to locate a shoe company that creates an extremely wide shoe, to be specific my shoe size is 11.5 4e. I was wondering are there shoe companies that produce higher quality and classier style, like the shoes mentioned in this and others of your videos, out there that tailor to wider feet? Thank you for your time.
I have to agree that Paul Evans' shoes look fantastic. The question I'm asking is can I justify nearly $400 on a shoe that isn't Goodyear welted? I understand that the sole can be fully replaced on Blake stitched shoes but it's more complex and expensive than replacing the sole on a shoe with a goodyear welt.
I've been doing research recently, and the only other pair with a similar color and is Goodyear welted that I've found around that price point is the Miquel Museum Oxblood from Cobbler Union. Hope that helps, and good luck hunting.
Antonio, please do a video on hooded jackets! Are some hooded jackets formidable to wear with a suit or is it too casual? I know that the 'gentleman image' is of a non-hooded jacket and an umbrella for the rain but the hood is too functional to overlook for cities like London where rain is very unpredictable. How can you look sharp with a hooded jacket? Thanks, I love your videos!
Hi Antonio, would you wear wholecuts in a more casual way? I mean if it's versatile enough to wear them with jeans... I know they are one of the most formal types...but im still curious since im thinking on getting a pair but I want smth I can really use...
You said it Antonio. ...the creasing is definitely the biggest problem with whole cuts. But as for the first let say 20 or 30 wears (depending on if you take care of them with shoe tree's ) there is nothing sexier.
Hi Antonio. Could you tell me if you already have any videos or articles on shoe maintenance/upkeep and what are "acceptable" levels of wear and tear? While I don't wear dress shoes often, sometimes they get scuffed or scratched, and besides being extremely annoying, I wonder what I can do to help prevent such incidents and how to care for the shoes afterwards, or whether I should just call it a day and buy new shoes? Keep up the great work.
Great question. I've been contemplating buying some Brown Brogues but haven't pulled the trigger yet. Being that the Brogues are "less formal" I was hoping to kill two birds with one stone buying these (Brown of course ) instead.
hey antonio these are nice shoes i like those the black ones . But i dont like glossy shoes what is the other choice of this then i like a bit matt finish look coz glossy looks a bit wierd help me out !!!! and ur hair looks good now !! and nice piece of tht jacket
What type of fabric is that jacket made out of? I really liked it. What are your thoughts on camel hair jackets? Saw one in a store the other day and didn't know what to think of it.
Hi Antonio! I found your videos years ago, even before I started getting into this kind of clothing. I've been "in the game" for some time now and I still enjoy your videos whenever they pop up on my home screen. However! They've been quite the same for as long as I can remember, and what I mean by that is the way they're shot. I'd love to be able to see more than just your top half in front of a gray backdrop, it'd be fun to actually see your whole outfit, what shoes you're wearing, what trousers you think looks good with that particular jacket/sweater you're wearing, see the cut of the trousers and so on. Just my two cents! Keep it up :-)
If I were to get a pair, what color would you suggest? Black goes with anything but seems a bit dressier, while the brown goes with certain clothes and can be more casual. I really just need a bit of advice
Antonio, I'm interested in the Paul Evans Wholecut in Oxblood. Should I also get an Oxblood belt? Should the leather always exactly match, or is a brown belt okay with oxblood, Bordeaux and light brown shoes?
hi Antonio.. i am a very big fan and follower of you.. u r even ma guru in styling and am asking this as devotee of you...I feel ur jacket is little unfit.. is it because of the material or you preferred it that way.. sorry i don't meant to offend but just curious.. but it looks so good on you..
Any advice for customers who need extra-wide shoes? I can't stand just going up two sizes and having so much empty room in the shoe that it feels like I have no control when I walk or drive. My ideal size is 8XW or when I can find them, quadruple-wides, 8-EEEE. It's so rare to find even regular wides in dress shoes.
You look like an oriental king in this jacket, Antonio :D Absolutely love it! Sadly due to my extreme flatfeet I just cant find any men's leather shows that fit me. It's either agony, because theyre squeezing the front third of my foot or the shoe is like 4-5 cm too long. What can I do?
Dont know but you know that E stands for normal with and that F should be the with off a size bigger shoe. Maybee you should try a G. Off course only high end brands have that but anyway could be worth it.
Try Allen Edmonds, They offer shoes with Goodyear welt construction and cater to customers with wide feet. If the prices are too steep for you then take a look at their "factory seconds" also offered on their website.
You probably won't wear these shoes every day so might as well buy the best you can afford because they'll last you a really long time. I've got a pair that's 6+ years and they look as good as new. Not a single scratch. I really like that pair so I wear them more often than I should but the shoes still look great.
Hey Antonio, I'm a long time subscriber for your channel. Wonderful useful videos you have, I even bought your class. Anyways, I'm 18 so a pretty young guy. I was curious, is it normal for a young man like me to be dressing more professionally? Is there a certain way i Should Approach it, or is everything your saying universal for all age groups? -Gerardo
+CaptainEstrada thank you for supporting my business. It's different for each age group that's why I write articles that separates how young men should dress from older men.
I saw you watch video and I want to use one, but my wrist is so small (I'm a skinny guy) Should I use watch like a special style of watch ? Or just don't use one(?
+mentel72 Look to a classic oxford balmorals that complement your suit’s fabric. Bluchers are acceptable if you plan on wearing a lighter colored suit or suit without a tie.
Hi Antonio, for your next video how bout showing us a glance of your whole outfit?? I think your Shirt and Jacket are Astonishing but I'm curious what trouser and shoes to match them, (don't tell me you aren't wearing anything down there hahaha jk)...
Imo the only reason to buy wholecuts is for a tux, they look great with one. Other than that, if you like the clean look, chelsea boot, if you like the shoe, oxford
I don't agree that you can dress them down. Dressing something down means to take it as is and build a less formal outfit around it. So you have a black wholecut shoe, you dress that down by how, changing its color? Absolutely beautiful shoes, I look forward to owning a pair someday
+outphase78 I see your point. We must remember that in most cases, it's not the price...it's the value that make the decision as to why a person should or shouldn't make a purchase.
+outphase78 for example...a man buys a $500 shoe which last him 20 years...another man buys a $80 shoe which last a year. Which man made the best choice?
+Affluent business Solutions I understand the beneficial value of a long term investment. However, my personal culture and economic background has shaped my belief about value to be more about making the most out of the least. That $80 shoe can be all I need for whatever the purpose may be, like getting a job, but let's say my house gets on fire and all my clothes and shoes are gone. I still have that job but imagine if I had spent $500 on that shoe. The value of it lasting me 20 years would be non-existent. It's a pretty drastic explanation I know and I'm not here to debate with you, but I just wanted to help explain why I feel like the value of something shouldn't be confined to such a steep price.
I think this was another great video but damn am I getting angry at all these nice shoe companies who don't make shoes in large sizes >.> Same with the boot companies!
+ManCave Mayhem Pretty sure he just left the first one unbuttoned on the other sleeve. It's a way to show off your jacket quality (off-the-rack jackets rarely have working buttons) and add a touch of sprezzatura to your outfit. That he does it unsymmetrically only highlights that, as it feels both careless and less calculated on the one hand, and very deliberate on the other. It's like a secret handshake, a parlour game of dandyism to see who makes the greatest effort to seem like they make the least effort!
+Doomsterlobster to add to that, on jackets with functional sleeve buttons, it's common to unbutton the last button on the side where you wear your watch.
Captain Centeno, the gold jacket....Dude......did you join ShaNaNa? Hahahaha. Seriously it looks very cool. I like the shoes but they don't come in size 16.
Your recommending this website but you offer no discount code.....I'm legitimately disrespected. That website is getting more customers because of theses videos (more money) and you're being paid to advertise them. So you make money they make money and the consumer is stuck paying full retail; really disrespectful in my humble opinion
Dear, Antonio your videos are really focussed i really appreciate what you are doing, But if you have some free time then please go and visit some +officialpeta movies so one can have a reality of what your wearing on your feet, a dead soul skin #WOW its just too awesome, right cool i hope you will delete this comment right when you see it, but be a Real Men and some show Real Style thank you.

Hi Antonio, for your next video how bout showing us a glance of your whole outfit?? I think your Shirt and Jacket are Astonishing but I'm curious what trouser and shoes to match them, (don't tell me you aren't wearing anything down there hahaha jk)...
+Bamg449 Hahaha - Might do it soon.
Imo the only reason to buy wholecuts is for a tux, they look great with one. Other than that, if you like the clean look, chelsea boot, if you like the shoe, oxford
Sweet jacket!!
+rmb0621 Thank you!
So if I wear a 10.5 I should buy a size 10 dress shoe?
Ramiro Ramirez yea, Dress shoes always run big
great video
thanks dear
+Husain Alnasser you're welcome Husain!
Their site recommends ordering a size down. Did you guys find this to be true?
+Michael Garcie You can contact them if you have questions about sizing here: www.paulevansny.com/pages/sizing
+realmenrealstyle I am in absolute love with your chestnut wholecut! It looks so GOOD!
+Men's Essentials by Mayank Bhattacharya Thanks - I love them too! You coming out to StyleCon?
how would you rate Paul Evans against Allen Edmonds? Do you prefer one over the other?
Wow I love you clothes they are amazing, beautiful!
+Wesley Pimentel Thanks Wesley!
Check out EBay for used whole cut. Just purchased a pair if Allen Edmonds in black, used, for $80.00!
I don't agree that you can dress them down. Dressing something down means to take it as is and build a less formal outfit around it. So you have a black wholecut shoe, you dress that down by how, changing its color? Absolutely beautiful shoes, I look forward to owning a pair someday
Nice jacket!
+Dadee3 Thanks! What shoes would you pair it with?
+Real Men Real Style With Converse sneakers! Joking, lol. I'd wear a brown suede double monkstrap! =)
nice jacket
+prateek shakya Thanks!
3:34 helps to substitute the word "pricey" for "expensive."
+Affluent business Solutions I think expensive is more honest. Pricey is about $150. Expensive is $350+ which is how much those shoes cost. Too much.
+outphase78 very true bro
nice!
+MeshRoun :)
Hey, my name is Martin. And tomorrow is my birthday. Can you get me a pair of these for my birthday?
I'm sorry Antonio, I put a lot more attention to your jacket than the shoes and explanation. Bold colour!
+JosephGallagher A lot of people did notice that :)
Killer jacket you got there
I think this was another great video but damn am I getting angry at all these nice shoe companies who don't make shoes in large sizes >.> Same with the boot companies!
+Ginzington Schnizer What's your shoe size?
Real Men Real Style 15 finding a good high quality any kind of footwear has been a bit of a challenge. It's amazing how rare they become after 13. .
I got distracted during the whole video by your jacket. It has 3 buttons on one sleeve and 4 on the other. Hnnnggggg.
Greg Jones he bought it at marshalls.
Do you know the proper context for the word "hnnnngggggg"? Lol. It's what someone says when they're sexually aroused you derp.
Olli damn, you made mens fashion seem like science! Well said.
Captain Centeno, the gold jacket....Dude......did you join ShaNaNa? Hahahaha. Seriously it looks very cool. I like the shoes but they don't come in size 16.
+mjspock Hahaha. Glad you liked it. You can ask them questions about sizing - www.paulevansny.com/pages/sizing
Antonio, use the other side of your hand when sticking up fingers. M.
Too bad Paul Evans only sells medium width (D). I wear a B.
+TheyRiseBand You can as them questions about their sizing - www.paulevansny.com/pages/sizing

Well, I'm a vegetarian, so...
Your recommending this website but you offer no discount code.....I'm legitimately disrespected. That website is getting more customers because of theses videos (more money) and you're being paid to advertise them. So you make money they make money and the consumer is stuck paying full retail; really disrespectful in my humble opinion
Dear,
Antonio your videos are really focussed
i really appreciate what you are doing, But
if you have some free time then please go and visit some +officialpeta movies
so one can have a reality of what your wearing on your feet,
a dead soul skin #WOW its just too awesome, right cool
i hope you will delete this comment right when you see it,
but be a Real Men and some show Real Style
thank you.
What would you say is the most casual trouser style you could wear these with?
+CIMALord Jeans are best worn with the brown pair :)
hello Antonio, you might want to file a copyright infrigment toward a russian channel that copy and translate your material on youtube, here is an example /watch?v=0ohag4YiERE
I hate wholecuts
Why?
They are the shoe equivalent of wearing a sack.
Antonio those colors do not look good on you. Not hating but constructive criticism!
+steveurk3 Thanks for your feedback. People are entitled to have their own opinions.
I find whole cuts to bid hideously ugly shoes. Plain-toes are far better looking but still simple.
