What i love is that you guys care enough to respond to new comments on videos that you posted months and months and months ago. Most people only repond to the first few comments on a video then never again. To me, it shows, you do care. Great video! Thanks
Dear friend, thank you for your kind words. Actually we do our best on answering comments, even if it's becoming more and more complicated these last months because of an extremely heavy schedule (we may be at least 500 comments late now). But you know why we dedicate real time to this ? Because it's the only way to build a true, strong and loyal community. There's no other way.Cheers, Hugo & Sonya

Who would have thought that a 30+ minute video on how to ID quality shows would have been soooo informative and GOOD! Excellent delivery and breakdown Sonya!
Sonya, in all of my years of purchasing leather, suede, and exotics, I have never heard a more descriptive way of what to look for in a good pair of footwear. I must say that, I haven't failed you. Keep up the excellent work.
It is quite one thing to make a video covering what one needs to take into consideration when purchasing foot ware, but it another thing when the video covers all the essentials when making an informed decision. Well done.
I've been watching 100s of videos on shoemaking and shoe quality but none of those went as far as yours did. Thank you so much for sharing the knowledge.

Very knowledgeable presentation. Gosh I am just blown off course with her personality and way she talks. Very very attractive woman with a great sense of style.
This is the most realest education I’ve ever gotten on not just leather shoes I’ve worn for now over 20 years but shoes in general. Of all the crap you learn in school knowing how the damn things you wear on your feel and how good shoes and leather shoes that is are made should be something you’d think everyone would know but sadly don’t. This was an education.
As a 27y/o I always go to a nice classic timeless shoe. Be it for the office, for free time, going out or even vacancy. These things will always survive these Nike Air + Khaki cargo pants + hoodie trends. Nice episode, Sonya. Thanks a lot 🙏

What I consider to be a further wholemark of a good shoe is the inclusion of the "gentleman's notch" on the downside of the heel. It has absolutely no practical use anymore, however it is a nice thing to see because you may only take note of it when you know a thing or two about sartorialism. In the 19th century, while dressing, one would actually put the shoes on before stepping into the pants so that no wrinkles could appear while bending down to tie the laces. To make it easier to get your feet with shoes on through the pants it was common to simply saw of that little piece of the heel, soon to be know as the "Gentleman's notch". Thank you very much for the video and all of your great content. Cheers - a fellow sartorial enthusiast
What a fantastic comment. I just adore learning new things and you have taught me about the "gentleman's notch", which I WILL continue to read about in the future. Much gratitude for the encouraging words! ~Sonya
It's been awhile since I seen a video of yours and I forgot how Attractive Ms. Sonya was. This was a very informative video from a very well spoken knowledgeable source. thank you very much.
Loved the video! I'm a vintage shoe enthusiast and there is a construction that I simply had to have, once I heard of it. It is a variation of the Goodyear Welt called the storm welt. I recently tracked down a pain in near new old stock condition. It differs from the Goodyear welt in that there is a visible lip inside the stitching to keep water from getting into the shoe at the seam. These are relatively heavy shoes, that are a wing tipped derby. I'm a big fan of wing tips! They are surprisingly comfortable with a very solid feel. An added plus is that the color is antique gold. Very unique. I found in researching this construction that there is at least one company still making shoes with this construction. My father would have loved these shoes!
30 minutes is not even enough. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this video. It is interesting, jaw dropping and at the same time humbling. Simply because a woman is more knowledgeable than most men. Where in fact, the topic of mens shoes is something broad and not most men know about. I once had a Nike Kobe Bryant shoe collection, but 2 years ago I started to gravitate on mens shoes. And this channel has helped me learn valuable lessons about shoes, and dressing well in general. What I would like to see on the next video is for Hugo to review 2 to 3 of his dress shoes. Explaining why he bought them, what's good about them, the quality, made and other important things about the shoe.
SARTORIAL TALKS will the title be called ”Why I keep returning to Cifonelli”?😉 Something on the wishlist is videography of natural movements in the clothing to see the drape action and organicness (or not) of the shoulder. This doesn't seem available anywhere online and would be fantastic seeing such footage as part of the Italian/Parisian Gentleman series. The internet/books have pictures and some description but no real video. Likewise, if Mr. Simon Crompton was convinced to do video footage of his collection ” modeling” to showcase the vast quantities of bespoke makers. So far the best seems to be interviews with someone just sitting or standing. Grateful to know of any source of such a thing.
You seriously need to give the ultimate nod to her tailor. She's a beautiful woman but hot damn are her proportions would be sooooo difficult to match well and make a garment that fits her so amazingly well! Those French tailors yo!!
Thank you, The suit is from Sartoria Dalcuore in Naples, the shirt is bespoke (Carlo Riva fabric) from Maison Sinischalchi in Milan and the tie is from our friend Nicola at Spacca Neapolis ties in Naples. Thanks for giving me the chance to respond. Cheers! ~Sonya
I was looking through my various UA-cam channels and I am new to this one. I stopped scrolling when I saw this extremely well-dressed person and listened. I stopped dead in my tracks to get an excellent education on my new favorite topic! Shoes!
Learned so much watching these videos! I always imagined the pointed toe shoes more fitting with a tuxedo. Since a tuxedo has plenty of pointy edges too.
Really nice presentation! It can't be said enough, that the shoes make or break any ensemble. One doesn't look more dressed up; one looks dressed better. I took these beautiful new AE 5th avenues & stripped the polish completely off between the cap toe and the laces, softening them with renovateur, and they look two toned, almost like a spectator shoe. I thought I went too far, but people can't keep their eyes off my feet!
It's a strange phenomenon how shoes can elevate a look! It would be great to see the work you did to bring a pair of shoes from the past to life. So great! Cheers! ~Sonya

15 years ago i got a getta rangers pair of boots , im in the middle of braking them in , after a couple of hours they start to feel somewhat comfortable , tottal hours i walked on them and not just wearing is about 2 weeks ... these are my best shoes ever had , they tought me more than all the shoes i ever had combined
i had some brogues in my life , either go to the shoe shop and fix them or throw them away ...
Nicely done ! I wish that you all were around when I got my first investment banking job 20 + years ago. Took me some time to truly appreciate these well-tailored-made shoes and suits. I started with Bally's and Gucci shoes ....Million times thank you....

This was amazingly informative! I always had a love for shoes especially men’s shoes. I am in awe of the vast creations and now can appreciate the nuances as I look at a shoe based on the elements that you outlined here. Thank you.

Best channel on UA-cam. Can’t go wrong with the information. Love the eyeglasses. Please share the maker/store and consider doing a segment on men’s accessories.
Hi Randal, We are so glad to read your assessment. The eyeglasses are from Maison Bonnet, Paris (they made glasses for Jackie O and Yves Saint Laurent, to name a few---it's really a dream to experience them).
You just re-enforced the No. 1 request for a "Sartorial Talk" on accessories. Just this week, we created a Patreon page here www.patreon.com/sartorialtalks ... and have already done a talk show on accessories for our (currently 71 patrons).
I invite you to join if it's something that interests you. Cheers!
~Sonya and Hugo
Men’s eyewear are a great accessory. I’m looking to expand my eyewear. Please consider eyewear as a topic for accessories.
SARTORIAL TALKS and a good place to purchased.
@@randaldavis5690 Well noted...of course if you're ever in Paris or London, Maison Bonnet is the crème de la crème of eyewear makers. Write Hugo at hugo@parisiangentleman.fr (instagram parisian_gentleman) or myself at sonya@parisiangentleman.fr (instagram sonyaglyn) if you ever want us to set up an appointment for you. Cheers! ~Sonya PS: of course we can study more accessible eyewear as well.
A great channel. More images are always appreciated
We'll try to add more B roll. Thanks for commenting! ~Sonya
