Okay so hear me out. When you’re in college, it’s fine to dress more “street” style or just comfy trendy clothes. Dressing nice only gets you so far, it’s really your attitude and how you treat others that’s important. You can look like $1 million but if you are antisocial and not putting yourself out there, people aren’t just gonna come up to you.
Some of it true, some of it now. I am a very social person, I can walk up to people and start a talk but I dont have a reputation yet, I've just turned 18 and starting Uni soon, so if I can create a good wardrobe for myself as a man, it will help me build my aura and rep. Good points though, god bless
A good personality is a given. I done the street style trendy clothing in my 20s but it only gets you so far and then you start feeling foolish and not well presented
I’m 31 and dress the same way. I go through security in shorts and a T-shirt with socks and open toe shoes lol. Not trying to impress anyone at the airport. Definitely not wearing boots. I’m out of town for work 230-240 days out of the year. Definitely want to be comfortable while traveling. Plus, I’m not really in a line of work that requires me to dress nice. I just hunker down and try to buy as much real estate as possible so I’m not doing this until I’m 60. I just wanted to watch this video because there is something sexy about being stylish. Maybe some day when I’m semi retired and in a different line of work I will want to up my game. Not right now though. Living below my means involves not splurging on really nice clothing. Sorry for the long life story.
Why do people own clothes that are uncomfortable? "I can't dress because I just want to be comfortable." Get clothes that fit. Step up your game.@@RealMenRealStyle
Please wear what you like. These tips are basically just for people that really dont know what they are doing or for people that would like to look like an old white men, there is nothing wrong with that style. But it isnt the only viable style. The best style is the style that you enjoy and feel good in.
Holy cow, a sponsor that actually is relevant to the video, and it works. That is the epitome marketing genius. Its the only sponsor section of a youtube video I've actually watched through.
I think the idea is to have personal choice rooted in objectively correct men’s fashion. A lot of people hide being lazy behind a “personal choice” of style. A lack of style is not personal choice, it’s just not having any style.
Clothes are a way of expression. Being comfortable and confident in your clothes/style is most important. The clothes don’t make you look good, you make the clothes look good.
When you are good looking, yes. It doesn't really matter what you wear, you will look good on anything.. but when you aren't that good looking gotta admin that your clothing options really make an upgrade on how you looking
@@mandovid stupid comment, work on your self-esteem not the clothes you wear. Even the coolest suit won't change the twisted perception you've got of yourself. Change the inner then the outter.
Don't follow trends, it's a marketting ploy. Buy good casual or dress cloth that fits you well and then slowly add different pieces to your wardrobe over time. Find your personal style as style is personal to us all. Your not going to have all the various versatility in style wear right out the door. But constantly throughout the year and going forward add different elements of clothing thats everlasting and works long term. Over time you will build up having the different functional pieces that gives you so much versatility in what or how to wear whats in your wardrobe you will be dying from choice overload in what to wear and how to wear it. Your just not going to have it day one in dressing like an adult. It takes time.
@@michael7324 Great stuff! Just find a system of improving and upgrading that works for you and your situation. For me personally I went about it by first finding a style and material of trousers I liked and bought several trousers and in the varying standard colors like Black, Charcoal, Tan, Blue/Navy Grey, Olive etc. In time I also got different shades of those colors but still in relative same fabric. Mine of choice was light wool. Medium or heavier wool works for me fine in Winter as I’m in Pennsylvania, so it’s milder weather and cold winter. Over time and way since then I’ve acquired Cotton and Linen trousers over time for variety in my west. However, going back to starting with trousers as I did the logic for me was simple in that if I had a good variety of dress trousers and in a few colors I can mix and match an shirt styled of any kind with any my trousers. From there I just built and improved my wardrobe going forward. Just bought Good dress shirts I can wear to the office. Add a few more pants and more shirts. Then added a 1-2 Navy Color Blazer to up the style. In between all that I improved wearing good leather shoes mostly of a medium to darker brown leather. One good leather Black Oxford was enough at start. Along with all that is properly maintaining and taking care of your cloth and shoes which is a must do. You invest in good clothing, make good sense to properly care and maintain them. In time I just added 1-2 things here and there and overtime you have more variety. As well, properly tailor your cloth. Everything takes time, but your investing in yourself the entire way. People will notice you when you up your style.
I have watched a lot of your videos and this has to be the most comprehensive guide to casual yet classy dressing. Most men are set in their ways and I'm more than guilty of the same. And this is the nudge we need.
The casual style videos are very useful for me. Am 19yrs old so I won’t be dressing very formal for the vast majority of occasions so videos on casual or even ultra casual style come in very handy. Thanks!
Personally I wouldn’t recommend the style hints in this video for someone that young. Make sure you have a good fit, don’t do obvious things like socks:sandals, other than that you can dress however you want. Dare! Personally I like what Japanese youngsters wear.
Dude I’m 26, and I would not recommend you take advise on casual wear from this channel. You will look like a 40 year old. This guys channel is more helpful if you’re a young dude that needs some ideas for how to dress at your stuffy corporate job, but I would never recommend dressing like this to school or college. You will look like you raided your stylish dads closet
@@Kagiso22 yeah you would look old and out of place, but of course I’m not taking every tip at face value and copying what he wears. My style is very different from his. But the main principles of fit etc are useful for everyone.
Having a good mix in clothing styles is the way to go! There's no need to look "classy" all day, every day... Some young guys who have no clue will watch all these videos and start dressing like a 50 year old every single day and have no self expression... *Balance is key!*
Boots are the ULTIMATE casual footwear. They are a category in themselves and can go from utility, heavy duty work boots to sleek, smoth and dressy Chelseas. I've become a boots guy after watching your videos, Antonio (almost 10 years ago) and I just rarely wear anything else with any kind of pants (except for actual suits). I just match the formality and style of the boots to the pants.
I think Color Theory is a must, and the "read the room" mentality is helpful too. Try to imagine/picture in the moment that someone you respect walked up behind you or saw you. Would you feel proud or think you look silly.
I’ve actually followed your channel for years. But I think you deserve so much more credit and love because your ways absolutely works! I never paid too much attention on how I dress and I never took you very seriously. But now, I see myself walking in a path of “not caring how I dress”, . I feel pathetic and people don’t take me seriously. I want to change that. Thank you for all your tips, tricks and also for helping us “menBoys”. ❤️
It was 100+F° down here in Texas for like 2 WEEKS. Grass everywhere died, which made things incredibly bad for cattle farmers. A lot of them either couldn't afford hay, or couldn't find hay to buy. The weather man was super hyped when it went down to 98 F°. Needless to say, layering for casual purposes is suicidal down here. People that are trapped in suits because of their job were probably having a rough time.
I stick to light breathable short sleev button up with some breathable chinos and boots…it’s cool enough but you lose cool points if it’s too hot or depending on the occasion like if it’s a bbq or a beach thing then sneakers, sandals chino shorts with a plain t or short sleev button up works fine , sometimes you have to suffer for fashion haha but aye hope this helps
Great video. I’m retired now but back in my 30s-40s I was a teacher. I taught second grade and one day I realized that I had to dress more maturely. I wore tee shirts, chinos, and black sneakers. I looked at my 7-8 year old male students who were dressed better (their moms still dressed them at that age). From that point on I wore button-down shirts, wool pants and leather shoes. I looked much better and even my kids noticed the change.
Regrettably, teachers nowadays are admittedly not in the least concerned with emanating maturity or even being a role-model for students. Ninety percent of them wear jeans day in and day out (exception: some universities) - and look straight out of Walmart.
@@Drewsky840 IKR - once was a time when people who pursued being a teacher did it because they wanted to enrich, impact, and educate the next generation. Now, people do it just for a job and nothing more - much in the same way as someone slinging coffee at a Starbucks.
This man is a gem on YT. Language, facial expression, subtle nonverbal communication, high value content, no distracting or fake entertaining music, top notch camera and simple editing. Brilliant
Exapt no sports shoes.... Like I get the no Walmart speicals but $140 wisbang nikes? Like what happens if you can't afford $400 pair of shoes that will kill you feet?
For Fall, Winter, and Spring, my regular casual outfit is a decent pair of chukka's, Levi 501's, mock turtleneck, half zip or button sweater, Citizen watch, Sabona bracelet, a little YSL cologne, and a smile. You won't break the bank, and you'll always be one of the best dressed in any room. (Make sure your chukka's are clean, with a little shine. They are the foundation of style.) If it's date night, I will elevate the look with Dockers straight fit, button down shirt, Peter Millar sweater, and maybe a tie. All the best guys!
You wouldn't be if i was in same room obviously.....im a classic lacoste polo ( various colours) Armani jeans blue jeans, Paul and Shark trainers or maybe Churches Navada Chelsea boots occasion depending ,Omega Seamaster James Bond edition watch, if a jacket required maybe Hugo boss leather blouson or full length Hugo Boss coat maybe typhoon by Paul and Shark jacket or a wax barbour weather depending .After shave at moment mount Blanc ......don't forget accessories......Swiss army knife, Hugo Boss leather wallet, Barbour hip flask filled with Jura 10 year old malt.
I struggle to dress nice as I am a mechanic and own a farm. I get caught off guard by very important people coming to see me, but I dont have the time to change out of my ripped clothes. Almost wish you could do a series about dressing smart for dirty occupations!
Try DTC, Duluth Trading Company I've always called them the working man's style because their clothes are very comfortable, tough, last a surprisingly long time, and are priced on the low end of the scale. Started wearing their Firehouse pants years ago while being around lumber and nails a lot and they held up that and you can bend any way you need and they wouldn't bind. Now their jackets are pretty awesome too and cut a nice figure as well.
I’m the same way. I gotta focus on clothes that have more function, than fashion. Those dickies pants though, if the proper size, do got me feeling some type of way 😂 All snazzy and shit. Even got compliments about them, which really surprised me.
@@Sparkfly88 this is the exact reply I am talking about I couldn’t agree with you more. I would love to have nice clothes, that can handle work, not white collar clothes, but blue collar nice clothes nice clothes (not Deluth or coveralls) but a nice dressed outfit That can handle the rigors. I’m not sure if you mean this or if it would work with your occupation attire, but it’s what I’m looking for!
All I need on a casual lazy sunday is an Omega watch, a crisp white V-neck, japanese selvedge denim pants, stetson silverbelly open road and red wing shop mocs oxfords. Cheers
I am glad I found this channel. Since work for home took over I switched to completely athleisure and haven’t really done a good job of maintaining my sense of style.
I can't agree with this more. As a 45 year old woman, I now dress more maturely because I am. There's no reason for me to look like a 16 year old in ripped jeans and t-shirts. I get loads more respect. 😌
Also: A 45 year old dressed as a 16 year old just looks old and desperately trying to hold on to their youth. A 45 year old dressed like a 45 year old looks confident and the most attractive version of themselves. Man or woman.
@@meyr1992 I'm another woman enjoying these videos. I like to learn about fashion and what looks good depending on the individuals body shape, face, etc. The opposite gender/sex is similar in that way in terms of interest.
@charlierae8266 Be 45 and still worried about getting respect from individuals that if you talked to them for 10 min would find out their respect isn’t worth having, middle aged women folk. There is a time and a place for everything. Yes, if you are going to an upscale party or restaurant, definitely don’t go in there with a band shirt on. Also, don’t goto a metal concert in a 3 piece suit. This should be common sense. I am not gonna get dressed up for every insignificant event
This advice is fine if you want to look like you work in a bank or hang around with people with yachts. I would feel uncomfortable in these clothes as if I were trying to look like the kind of people I don’t like.
@@neilo2323 me sitting here in my sub $50k/year job, just trying to raise my family. Lol "style" isn't a priority, "putting food on the table and a roof overhead" are priorities. And, I don't want to ruin nice shirts and pants with the messy parts of the job
When I'm out, my favorite thing to where is either a solid black or white tee that fits right, crisp jeans, and my nice puma sneaks. If it's cold, I wear thermals.
Dress yourself where you feel good and comfortable with. Don't let yourself be dressed because the people around you ask you to. Although... sometimes it's good to bring yourself out of your comfort zone, and try something new when you're buying new clothes. Just to see how it makes you feel.
Dress yourself according to the place you want to be. Good sense is the rule here, if you wanna be with people that are just chatting and relaxing, go comfy, you wanna be with some people to talk about bussiness, show that you`re the organized one with a good taste. It`s more abou the ocassion than about the clothe. Also, "go with what you like", only works until 30, after that you're going to understand that being a colored-emo-goth-otako-kpoper will not move you anywhere.
@@rob3r7jr Thank you can you post this on the main comments? Too many people think taking liberties for comfort over conformity in here. Sure we're all individuals, but we're individuals in a collective society, maybe act like it if you want to join the rest of us.
@@Larrylarrs You can also look like a bum wearing a suit. It's about confidence. You cannot buy that, never! I can wear street clothes and still have more style than a guy with a suit on but zero confidence. Sit somewhere where people enter and leave and watch. Certain people have a special aura, no matter what they wear and most of the times the ones with a big aura are not overly dressed up.
I'm 34 and going through alot of life changes, like being able to look in the mirror without feeling sick and acknowledging health issues. The video really gave me alot to work with when moving forward. I've had the same style for years and it never evolved. That's because I never evolved and now that I am? It's intimidating looking at my closet of clothes that really aren't going to work with me moving forward with life. I think a good start would be keeping up with the channel and learning about new ways of shopping for clothes. That's my biggest concern for getting started.
I really appreciate this! I used to watch you a lot back in the day and noticed that you didn't really cover casual styles. Also you were a lot more stilted in your mannerisms back then. You seem much more comfortable and personable here! I love to see it.
I'm 60 and my son (22) is working his 1st job in IT post-graduation from college. Smart, good looking with terrific personality. Trying to get him to expand his wardrobe and getting a lot of resistance. His bar/club attire is hoody, Lulu pants, and white sneakers. I've hid the sandals deep in another closet. 😞HELP!
Haha i think he will get it right soon, im 22 too and had bad wardrobe choices till like 4 years ago.. what made my choices better was going to college and feeling the need to present myself in classy manner in this new environment.. try telling him to meet new different people, different perspectives from themmight inspire him
So glad I have this channel. Abt to be 25 time for me to start being a man and grow out of the child phase. I still feel like I'm 18 fresh out of high school and yeah I'm still very young but it's time to take that next step.
I've started to take that next step as well. I'm also 25 and just got my first suit a few months ago! I'm currently working on the shirts & accessories. Antonio: That sponsor was perfectly timed! I was just thinking today I needed to upgrade my polo shirts
@@OrangeCounty92 yeah it's crazy people get away with not looking very good. It's sad because the only reason I'm here rn trying to better my life is I had a wakeup call. So many of these people won't ever have that and will continue this modern trend of looking homely and just existing instead of actually living. I don't want to be looking back in my 40s-50s and regret everything, I'm already regretting my last 7 years.
@@OrangeCounty92 I've seen that time and time again too. People my age are wearing graphic tees and ill-fitting jeans too often. That's why I like my smart-casual and business-casusal items, like suits, and nice shirts and pants (of which I have many). They make me stand out from most people my age. Antonio is right when he says you feel smarter when you dress well. Though I have several other types of shirts, like dress shirts and oxfords, I would still like more polo shirts though
As a man over 50, my picks for shoes are black Oxfords, brown monk straps, and blue suede shoes. At the most casual, it's a pair of white Nike walking shoes or sage New Balance (also walking shoes, super light and comfortable). All highly recommended for the more mature cultured barbarian 😁
I don’t know how to put this but I think your circle matters to an extent. What I mean by that is socks with sandals is considered a faux pas to most people, but amongst athletes(football, basketball, etc) one would be made fun of for not wearing socks with slides.
sir you are very very very highly under rated....people always say that it's what inside your heart that matters...but everyone knows that good style is the key to being taken seriously and it can sometimes open doors for you.....you cut the hypocrisy and speak the unadulterated truth....you deserve more respect sir especially in today's time
Casual is a look for certain people, who live a certain lifestyle. I was once the Boy Scout king of casual, today I work more and casual isn’t something I do often. But when you do, it starts with the grooming. The hair cut and face. Once you define your casual hair do, the rest will come naturally
Something that I have noticed is that the older you get (56)the more you like to be comfortable. Finding comfortable clothing that fits good looks good and is affordable is an extreme challenge!
I'd also like to point out that it depends on your environment as well. It'll be easier to learn what is "accepted" in your environment for example if you live in a city like NYC vs living in a city like San Diego, they both dress completely different from each other. Some what similar in terms of fancy dressing, but casual dressing they're pretty different and it's okay. Just look around you and see what seems to be popular and looks great with other people. I have a pretty athletic slim body type, but my go to is black jeans, casual grey sweater or hoodie sweater + denim jacket. (During the winter at least), converses or Nike street shoes..pretty casual but also really nice looking too
@@strjourneys7919 of course, but it comes to a certain point to kind of understand how to dress vs how not to in terms of wanting to look nice, if you don't care about how you look then yeah go ahead and wear flip flops while sagging skin tight skinny jeans with a baggy tshirt
I was pretty excited about the collars and co opportunity - so I used your affiliate link and discount code to get 20% off. However, I had to return the 4 shirts. they were damaged because they were using a type of bobby-pin-like plastic clip that bears down so tightly on the shirt in its packaging that it permanently mars (turns to white spot) the polyester finish, on each front side of the shirt. Their customer service said they had also reported it to the CEO so they could take it up with their manufacturer. Shirts were ruined by their packaging.
Thanks for the great advice, always enjoy your videos! I struggle with casual clothing, because I feel awkward and preppy so I generally resort back to jeans and t-shirts. Only thing I might add is that the difference between a jacket and a coat is based on length, not when it can be worn. Sneakers are definitely not an issue for me, have around 60 pairs that vary from ultraboosts to Louis Vuitton with the majority being Jordan’s, fall and winter I wear a wide array of different boot styles from Timberland to Lucchese and everything in between
Legit advice. I remember when I use to do all that dress coordination in my younger years. Funny enough, I've devolved into dressing up like a kid (joggers, sandals, shorts, t-shirt, graphic polo shirts). I devolved because I'm a tech professional, and to thrive in that environment you dress down for comfort. It helps in fitting in and bonding with your fellow techies. When I compare, I honestly enjoy dressing up as a kid. I just wear it in such a way that it contours my body just right. When I dressed up on a regular, it was a confidence builder, made me feel important, and I got noticed more, but I did it for other ppl. I got to a stage in life where I've advanced in my career and it's not a career dependent upon how ppl perceived the way I look and dress. As such, it is very liberating not having to dress for other ppl and look a certain classic, gentlemanly way. If you have to look good as part of your profession to make a living, definitely stick to this form of casual. In the end, I've notice that you dress for those who need to see you look good, and dress for yourself when you've become successful enough to rock your own style and not care what others think. Money and prosperity allows a lot of freedom, including the way you prefer to dress and ppl having to accept that. When ppl talk to you, they will quickly realize if you have the mentality of a boy or the mind of a man.
I’d agree, but I’d add that success probably came based on your ability to perform to the desires of others which is why they’ve paid you for your performance. In certain circumstances that performance includes “appropriate” attire.
I highly agree with the last statement. I understand the video is just trying to help, but yeah, it doesn't matter if you dress nicely, your words and actions will still be the one to carry or betray you when talking to people.
I would agree working in tech that dressing in the classic gentlemanly way or business casual w/e you would look out of place at the office. Most people just wear bandshirts and hoodies. Unless of course your job is in sales or such at the tech company.
@@cristiantellez5178 He didn't say that. He was way more specific in his example for a reason. A white long sleeve shirt, blue jeans and black shoes can look absolutely great.
Two years ago i found a British Flat Cap on Sale.. made out of 100% Quality Wool.. i love it ever since.. it goes with almost everything..now its my signature cap..
I’m a collage student who started a real estate company and my uniform is black linen shirt(two buttons undone) with blue jeans and pair of Chelsea boots or black converse high tops with a Casio vintage on my wrist. Learned a lot from you; Thank you so much.
That's a very good uniform- consider upgrading to an entry level luxury watch (Tissot prx powermatic 80, Chris Ward, seiko samurai) when you can. Don't forget some nice shades. And check out Naked and Famous jeans to really keep your denim on point.
I enjoy this, I didn't grow up with a father to teach me how to dress or anything about being a man. Thanks to that, I learned that the only correct way to dress is the way that makes you happy!
Being a man is not how you dress. I've seen men who are homeless on the street with tattered clothes have a bigger heart than the guy driving a Benz, wearing an Armani suit and a Rolex watch on his wrist.
I bought a few pieces this year that really elevated my look. Textured jackets and knit shirts, a new pair of shoes. Even though I'm wearing t-shirts (nice ones) at work I get compliments on how well-dressed I am.
Matthew 6:25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?"
Dress to suit your personality. Don’t let anyone tell you how to dress. Wear what makes you feel like you. Dudes like this don’t know what they’re talking about. The style he’s describing is what suits him. We are all different. Enjoy life and be you.
I keep it simple. For many situations there are "dress codes" and you have to prepare for that. For the everyday clothing wear something that feels good, comfortable and that when you look at the mirror you say "i wouldn't want that guy to hit on my girl" whatever that is. Is how you behave that will affect how people treat you. I love my shorts and I know I look good in them bc my legs are well shaped. So... for me what to wear depend only to you, there are no codes in casual clothing.
Nice video Antonio! I know you have a bundle of sponsors that you recommend but as an Australian who needs to deal with the struggles of the summer heat, personal preference to avoid synthetic fibers, and a more casual culture than what you're likely accustomed to, do you have any online retailer recommendations for some summer basics that I can rely on being good for my wardrobe in both fit, and make as well as for the environment? Sincerely, a put-together Aussie lamenting the coming summer.
P.S. also on dealing with sweat on well-fitting, quality clothes in summer that I want to extend the lifespan on; in winter I can easily wear an undershirt but should I continue doing the same in summer or maybe get a more relaxed fit?
I'm speaking from the perspective of a young guy who graduated college and has been working in a larger firm for almost a year (I'm 24). My job requires me to be in the office some days and be present on field job sites other days. My job has forced me to upgrade/change my style. I do consulting work so first impressions are especially key. In college, I only had one complete suit for job fairs and the occasional formal event for a club/fraternity, a couple pairs of khakis, and a couple oxford shirts, nothing fancy. Since I spend most of my time in the office, this has made me invest more in chinos, wool, and pleated pants; I rarely wear jeans anymore unless it's Friday or I'm doing something casual outside work. I phased out a lot of my hoodies and "loud" tops/jackets for sweaters, quarter-zips, and nicer oxford shirts. I only have a couple pairs of sneakers now that are exclusively for casual wear, all my other shoes are oxford shoes, a mix of dress-work shoes, or boots that I can wear in cold weather and to job sites. Now I have 3 suits with matching neutral tones so I can mix them throughout the weeks. It's fascinating how a job can affect your personal style options!
As a teenager I dressed in my dad's clothes quite often. My dad was on the road working during the week and I was experimenting with dressing more like an adult. I wore sports coats with button-downs and jeans. That was a go-to look for me. I worked from the time I was 8 y/o to pay for the clothes that I wanted to wear, rather than what my parents bought for school clothes. The result was that a lot of my clothes were used up because I worked in them. My dad's clothes were in far better shape. The exception was my jeans, I made certain that I had jeans for school. I kept up my look of wearing sports coats with jeans, right up until I joined the military. The girls I dated liked that look, so I kept wearing it. Once I had completed basic training, I tended to wear my uniforms, until I was recruited for a different government agency. I discovered that they were in serious need to fill the position that I filled. Enough of a need that they refused to wait until my time was up in my military outfit. After that, I went back to having my casual outfits be my sports jackets and jeans. The only directness was I could afire much nicer sports jackets. Oh, and I had long before stopped borrowing my dad's sports jackets.
@@no_guarantees Sounds like another nice option indeed. I think the issue with Toms is that some might find them a bit childish looking but personally mine don't look that bad lol..They look like a more casual form of Derbies.Thank you for the feedback.
Honestly what’s more important than all this is the fit. You don’t need to go to extreme lengths like this video. Something that fits fitted will go a long way if you’re regular size or somewhat in shape
Being a man is not about clothes. Protect your family. Value honor. Tell the truth. Take pride in learning. Face the wicked. That's all you need. Haven't been all these things all the time but I try. It's not that hard. Clothes are gimmicks
Look is important, not a gimmick. You should look in a way that shows respect to others, and respect to yourself. Otherwise it's ignorance and arrogance.
Okay hold on, I used to think the oversized look doesn’t work well on skinny men as well, BUT it does. You just have to be very meticulous about the sizing and to not overdo it. You also have to understand that you can’t do it to the extent that other body types can.
L O V E the Henley!! 💕 So effortlessly stylish, and it’s just like a tee in comfort, but looks way better! 👌 They always catch my eye when a guy wears one-doesn’t happen very often, either. If you’re a really casual dresser, add these to your wardrobe! You’ll probably get more noticed by the ladies (for your style), even on your casual days…almost 💯 guaranteed! Whenever I pick out garments or accessories for guys, they always come back & tell me how many compliments they received! It was a BIG deal for them, because these weren’t the type of men who ever got noticed.
@@ic5319 I don’t know what she likes, but I’m very casual myself, and am fine w/ guys not dressing up. I love good design, and henleys have all the elements. The cut, shoulder line, button placement, type & weight of knit material-it all looks good to me. It makes an average-looking guy cuter, because it shows (to me) that he’s got great taste! 👍 There’s a certain sweater-I don’t know what it’s called-but it looks like something that a guy who likes henleys would wear. It’s popular in the UK & Europe. It’s like a light cable knit, and has a couple buttons up top, then I think an asymmetrical collar? Not sure if I’m remembering it correctly, but it’s something Foy Vance would wear in the winter.
I am a carpenter by trade after retiring from corporate. I miss dressing sharp like you sometimes. I’ve incorporated professionalism in my outfit simply by wearing collared polo shirts every day, with fitted (stretch) work pants that allow me to still have full range of motion and durability, while looking professional. The impression it makes on clients is night and day when I show up like that, vs competition arriving in baggy t-shirts. And a quality pair of work boots not only are extremely comfortable, but also spell professionalism vs tennis shoes which many trades wear these days.
I stopped wearing graphic Tees and my heavy metal band shirts cuz people kept assuming I was 18 when I'm actually 30. I even stopped wearing loose clothes and wore more fitted and slim clothes as well. One thing I also had to stop wearing was video games and anime shirts.😂😂. They're cool, but I don't remember my in parents dress like that in the 90s.
Only way to balance that is wear something that shows your age. Don't wear a modern video game/anime shirt because that is what the kids are wearing. There are some guys that can pull off a NES or ALTTP shirt and still look cool. As only someone who is over 30 will know about your Sega Genesis shirt. However, I think it is more important to have a good physique (gym goer) and not look like the typical overweight or skinny-fat nerd. I've seen old guys wear an Atari or Van Halen shirt. If your 10 year old Son/Nephew/Cousin is wearing it...maybe you shouldn't.
Sometimes dress up, other times, a graphic tee is the vibe. Dress how you want, because you feel comfortable and happy, not because you feel pressure from society
Dressing like a man means to take care of your image and go according to your age and lifestyle. Buying a nice pair of shoes/boots that you really falled in love with, having less clothes of better quality, having a "uniform" or signature outfit/style, taking care of your hair and beard... I am almost 28, about 3 years ago I realized how bad I looked. I used any pair of jeans I had, I would wear old shoes that looked awfull, some round necks that screamed highschool, left my beard unattended, my hair would grow for months before a haircut... I went back to how I've always felt like a million bucks. I love being a rockstar with boots, leather jacket and black jeans and I also love how I feel when I use a nice full suit. So I bought some dress shirts (black and white mainly) ditched the cheap jeans with holes and bought a couple of new levis that fit me just fine, got a nice looking leather jacket (not the trash PU leather, real leather) and started buying nice shoes. My wardrobe started to get smaller and smaller, that made everything easyer. And I now have my dressy clothes, my daily clothes and my extras for doing excercise or other things. Now, my problem is that most of my clothes are more expensive and I have to wait longer to buy more stuff. Also got into watches. I'm low in budget, so I mostly take a look at citizen... but maybe sometime soon I will be able to buy nicer watches like longines, Rado, Mido, Tudor, etc. BTW once you go this route, You won't understand other people that don't spend in the best they can afford and decide to go the cheap way.
Antonio, thank-you for this video. I recall watching your early video where you were sat on your porch with a heap of clothing and you explained the best way to build a look. The move from Ts to polos etc. that was some years ago and I have followed your advice. I have invested in some classic shoes, boots, chino, sports jackets and shirts. I am refreshing my polos now as I always wear a collar. I feel better and have received compliments (one today whilst wearing my US Navy original Peacoat dating from 1958!) I owe you sir and have spread the word. Many thanks and kind regards, Charles. England.
On shoes I love RM Williams boots for winter I have a pair of Brown and a pair of Black, Summer Todd’s loafers on Blue or Cognac, casual I go for white or grey Deuce’s.
Dressing like a boi is a problem. You need to know what style is timeless. Maintaining your physique is crucial, it is timeless. It takes less work for a man to maintain his fitness than it take women. Don't leave anything on the table, do some pushups. Your target for partnership will notice. Your advantage to fitness really is far beyond what you think. Anytime you see stairs, do some pushups. Its really crazy how ez men can put on fitness, never skip pushups or leg day, people (women and men, want to see your ass).
This video definitely made me understand my wife better. Im all about the grey man and blending in. However, for our date nights, I think she will be impressed when these awesome tips have been applied.
“Don’t make any mistakes”… seriously? Be smart, work your butt off, invest, don’t do stupid things for long enough and you will not have to worry about impressing other people or trying to squash your personality into someone else’s ideals. I haven’t worried about what other people thought about me for about thirty years. I wonder almost every day why it took that long and why I worried about this stuff in the first place. Plus, I get the enjoyment of watching people freaking out when I go shopping because those suffering under serious stereotypes always think that some homeless person is stealing my Porsche in broad daylight when I get back to my car.

I'm ok with people not coming up to me
A good personality is a given. I done the street style trendy clothing in my 20s but it only gets you so far and then you start feeling foolish and not well presented
Good to know….I’ll keep dressing comfy while talking to no one
Men, don’t forget that being fit matters more than the clothes you wear. Then, as long as your clothes fit, you’ll look good in just about anything.

Please wear what you like. These tips are basically just for people that really dont know what they are doing or for people that would like to look like an old white men, there is nothing wrong with that style. But it isnt the only viable style. The best style is the style that you enjoy and feel good in.

You get to a certain age where how you dress is more to do with personal choice than trying to impress anybody.....much like the fragrances you choose
That's what ppl who rationalise dressing like shit say.
Well I dress like that and I am only 22... 🤔

Great advise. I have been slowly adding to my wardrobe over the past few years.

I love boots! Idk how to do it for warm months but when it gets cold i dress from the boots up pretty often.
I feel pathetic and people don’t take me seriously. I want to change that. Thank you for all your tips, tricks and also for helping us “menBoys”. ❤️
The key is layering. It’s why it’s difficult for men to dress sharp and casual for the summer. You’re kind of stuck with only shirts and shorts.
I'll say! It's been awful these past few days, and sharp I did not look. Come winter however and I've got some great outfits lined out!
Tee shirts and shorts make the out-fit about the wearer's fit-ness... and if they don't have a great body then they look bad
It was 100+F° down here in Texas for like 2 WEEKS.
Grass everywhere died, which made things incredibly bad for cattle farmers. A lot of them either couldn't afford hay, or couldn't find hay to buy.

Needless to say, layering for casual purposes is suicidal down here.

You won't break the bank, and you'll always be one of the best dressed in any room. (Make sure your chukka's are clean, with a little shine. They are the foundation of style.) Dress yourself where you feel good and comfortable with.

Or instead, dress for yourself and not try to be like eveyone else? You are your own individual person, you know...
@@strjourneys7919 of course, but it comes to a certain point to kind of understand how to dress vs how not to in terms of wanting to look nice, if you don't care about how you look then yeah go ahead and wear flip flops while sagging skin tight skinny jeans with a baggy tshirt
Why would you want to look like everyone else. I rather be the lion at a watering hole rather than a zebra. Stand out be different, ladies like that.
@@rickysousa7841 Because mens fashion is unfortunately what this is about, as you can see in the video. It's almost scary.
Wear what makes you comfortable
After watching these videos going into my closet makes me feel sad!😂. Great content. Learning from every video!👏🏾👏🏾🔥
He said white long sleeve shirt, blue jeans, and black shoes is an abomination. Thats 90% of my closets. 😢 😂
@@cristiantellez5178 it’s ok wear it if you like it
@@cristiantellez5178 He didn't say that. He was way more specific in his example for a reason. A white long sleeve shirt, blue jeans and black shoes can look absolutely great.
I wear what I want, that includes mostly repping bands that I like
Two years ago i found a British Flat Cap on Sale.. made out of 100% Quality Wool.. i love it ever since.. it goes with almost everything..now its my signature cap..
I’m a collage student who started a real estate company and my uniform is black linen shirt(two buttons undone) with blue jeans and pair of Chelsea boots or black converse high tops with a Casio vintage on my wrist. Learned a lot from you; Thank you so much.
That Casio vintage: the black resin LCD one?
That's a very good uniform- consider upgrading to an entry level luxury watch (Tissot prx powermatic 80, Chris Ward, seiko samurai) when you can. Don't forget some nice shades. And check out Naked and Famous jeans to really keep your denim on point.
I enjoy this, I didn't grow up with a father to teach me how to dress or anything about being a man. Thanks to that, I learned that the only correct way to dress is the way that makes you happy!
The last person you want to learn "about being a man" from is some barbie princess who confuses manhood with outfit selection 😂
Being a man is not how you dress. I've seen men who are homeless on the street with tattered clothes have a bigger heart than the guy driving a Benz, wearing an Armani suit and a Rolex watch on his wrist.
I’ve been upgrading all aspects of my life going into manhood, but this, THIS, is the cherry on top. Time to look like a man.
Absolutely. Have been working on it as well. Just turned 18, time to become a man!
If you want to look like a man exercise is better than clothes
We can use reasonable advise for us in the hot/humid climates like New Orleans where long sleeves and jackets are off the table 10 months of the year
I bought a few pieces this year that really elevated my look. Textured jackets and knit shirts, a new pair of shoes. Even though I'm wearing t-shirts (nice ones) at work I get compliments on how well-dressed I am.
Matthew 6:25
“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?"
Amen
Yet you are over here worrying about not even your own life, but someone else's.
I don’t think clothes meant the same thing in biblical times
Dress to suit your personality. Don’t let anyone tell you how to dress. Wear what makes you feel like you. Dudes like this don’t know what they’re talking about. The style he’s describing is what suits him. We are all different. Enjoy life and be you.
Eh
No dress like an adult
You can dress up as you want because we are all free to choose what to wear, what to say and what to do.
So... for me what to wear depend only to you, there are no codes in casual clothing.
recently i've been interested in Old Money style. I did some research and my closet is quite nice now!
Thanks again for the style updates! #3 was critical for me, I love boots but struggled to find the right pair so this definitely helps!
Sincerely,
a put-together Aussie lamenting the coming summer.
P.S. also on dealing with sweat on well-fitting, quality clothes in summer that I want to extend the lifespan on; in winter I can easily wear an undershirt but should I continue doing the same in summer or maybe get a more relaxed fit?
After 45 years, how that Galactic Empire logo tee at 1:19 is not considered a menswear classic is beyond me… 😆 LOL
Great video! I just bought a white sneaker and a coffee brown one as well. I was toying with the idea of a gray loafer in suede, thoughts?
Tom Ford in my opinion is a man to get inspired for clothes and atitudine.
Agreed!
My alternative to a sneaker is actually a Grey Canvas shoe from Toms. Excellent choices!
Solid colored Van Era 59s are a great option as well.
@@no_guarantees Sounds like another nice option indeed. I think the issue with Toms is that some might find them a bit childish looking but personally mine don't look that bad lol..They look like a more casual form of Derbies.Thank you for the feedback.
@@Manuel421 I ll be looking into the Toms myself, 😊👍🏾
Honestly what’s more important than all this is the fit. You don’t need to go to extreme lengths like this video. Something that fits fitted will go a long way if you’re regular size or somewhat in shape
I'm so glad you mentioned chinos. I love chinos. You should do a video on those alone big fan
Wear whatever you feel confident in. That’s it. Just be you bro.
As a man, I do what I want, and dress how I want. I don’t need anyone’s approval. I will continue wearing hoodies and sweatpants.
Simple, solid color sneaks are smart, easy to wear with most casuals, but I think running shoes that match favorite shirts & pants are great.
My favorite shoe to style with are Vanns because they come in so many cool colors that compliment other items of my wardrobe
"This isn't an outfit. This is an abomination." haha. Love this because it's so true. It is literally time to MAN UP.
Okay hold on, I used to think the oversized look doesn’t work well on skinny men as well, BUT it does. You just have to be very meticulous about the sizing and to not overdo it. You also have to understand that you can’t do it to the extent that other body types can.
I tend to think the baggy look is far better on light frames
L O V E the Henley!! 💕 So effortlessly stylish, and it’s just like a tee in comfort, but looks way better! 👌
They always catch my eye when a guy wears one-doesn’t happen very often, either.
It's funny, there is another style "expert" on UA-cam and she HATES henley's on men. I'm glad to hear someone likes them, I know I do 😄
@@ic5319 I don’t know what she likes, but I’m very casual myself, and am fine w/ guys not dressing up. I love good design, and henleys have all the elements. The cut, shoulder line, button placement, type & weight of knit material-it all looks good to me. It makes an average-looking guy cuter, because it shows (to me) that he’s got great taste! 👍
There’s a certain sweater-I don’t know what it’s called-but it looks like something that a guy who likes henleys would wear. It’s popular in the UK & Europe. It’s like a light cable knit, and has a couple buttons up top, then I think an asymmetrical collar? Not sure if I’m remembering it correctly, but it’s something Foy Vance would wear in the winter.
The compliments part is true, I got asked when I buy my jackets and coats, and how good they look
that's like, your opinion, man
Sweet.... I always wanted to know how to dress like my grandfather.... VERY modern.
I will wear WHATEVER Ι LIKE.
that's what adults do.
Kids on the other hand, listening to others what they want and believe
I’m 25 and I feel like I’ve crossed the line into adulthood
I'm 27, wait 'til you have your first child, that's when you really feel old 😆
no one will convince me out of my flip flop, shorts and tshirts, i will wear this outfit until i die lol
@Louis great style nothing wrong with that.i still wear chuck Taylor's and vans aswell.
Keep it up, The best outfit is the your most comfortable and confident with.
Damn straight.
This guy gets it
You have no idea what you are missing, I honestly look down on people like you. Slobs
YES...THANK YOU! FOR GIVING THEM HELP!!
So, basically, you let society dress you…. Congrats!
BS! dress like a MAN
Dressing like a man means to take care of your image and go according to your age and lifestyle.
Citizen has a lot of sentimental value for me, so I only rock those watches. Long live Eco-Drive!
Good read
Bulova makes some nice watches no more than $600
Antonio, thank-you for this video.
Dress how you want. Everybody doesn't live the same lifestyle.
Pushups arent going to really trigger much hypertrophy unless youre pretty much bedridden.

Bro, I love you so much. So many of your videos are helping improve the quality of my life!
Once a week try wearing a suit. Go to places you usually go and see how you are treated. Also observe how being dressed well makes you feel.
OFC if you have tons of $$$, it is irrelevant what you wearing.
