You've come a long way since I watched you pull the sweetheart roadster out of that field. It didn't happen by accident though. Your hard work and tenacity got you to this point. Good job and keep it going.🎉
Matt here’s a tip for your louvered hood. Get some magnetic sign material cut it to shape use it to keep water out during wet conditions. Keep it in the trunk until you need it. Works well.
Years ago I was at a guy's race shop and saw one of the "half tread" tires in a rack. I hadn't ever seen one so I asked him if it was a worn out asphalt tire. He said that it was a new tire off his 1957 Indy car. When the driver couldn't see the treads anymore it was time to come in for tires. He finished 14th in 57.
About the C4 in Dad's car.... replace the vacuum modulator. also take it in and have the intermediate band adjusted at the same time have them adjust the modulator. it may be best to let them change the modulator for you. Also, ya gotta make sure it's getting enough vacuum. Sometimes the rubber line will collapse and restrict the vacuum, maybe if the rubber line is too long. A metal line works great.
I'd love to see a 265 or 283 small block chevy in the free window. The chevy gets a lot of hate compared to the Olds and Buick because of how often they have been used over so many decades and genres of builds. 265 small block chevy coming out in the tri fives make it definitely period correct for a 50's build with a lot of great vintage speed equipment options. I'd love to see the early small block get some love from a period correct builder like yourself. Thanks for the great content!
Back in the 70's they used to set pinion angle by using the sacred stones and waiting for a full moon. Usually took a fortnight or two to get it close. Back in the day I set mine on a crooked garage floor with a framing square.....and tap, tap, tap it up and bam, something positive degrees.
Matt, you might consider whoever you get to repaint side panels of Ford hauler truck to also paint ITG graphics on shop truck doors. They could give it a weathered look that would personalize your little parts getter.
My choice for the free window is the Caddy flathead. Something totally different from all the rest. We don't need another small block Chevy in a Ford; there's a million of them already!
Matt it sounds like the valve body on you dad's transmission just needs new o ring seals on the valves for third gear. I also have a "workbench" I can't work on anymore but years ago I rebuilt a 1965 Mercury Cyclone C4 and a 1985 C5 trans on it, so at one time it was really a work bench. As an old man of 78 that still plays with cars I really enjoy the work you do on these cars. Lefty
Hey Matt, Just to say that you don't have a 'problem' you just have found the where to put 'it' yet....;-)..I collected sooo many weird and wonderful items and when I found my 'place' all those items fell into place...just like the office, it looks a thousand times better than any Ikea junk. It was well made and probably in the States too, and it will still be well made in another 40-60 yrs time. Great catch up video! Shouts from London UK...;D
The main shop is looking great Matt! I'm Loving the '33! Those rear wheels are killer. The Sweetheart Roadster is coming along very nicely. the '32 3 Window is going to be awesome, it's my favorite hotrod of all time...except my '33 Chevrolet coupe. I can't wait to see Mike cruising his car with his son and Elvis. The shop on top is freaking awesome, one gigantic toy box full of goodies! The Free T sounds wicked! Stay healthy, be safe and HAVE FUN guys!
Matt to clean up the old chrome look for a product called Sheila shine. I believe it comes from Australia. A little bit on 0000 steal wool does a great job. We used it on a 1965 Sunbeam Tiger I helped restore. Even took all the paint off the license plate light lenses and they looked new when I was done.
Nice setup, shop's cleaning up nicely. I've been riding along since Detroit and the Delorean find. Have enjoyed every mile and gotten a lot of motivation from your videos in tackling my own projects. Thanks Matt and crew.
Wood Stove analogy, "you can build a smaller fire in a big stove, but you can't build a bigger fire in a small stove" same for power shears, & benders..
Morning Matt, Mike & Steve, y'all are going to be very busy this Spring, Summer, its hard to decide which is my favorite, probably the Ardun 33....my 31 Ford Coupe project is coming along, my goal is to get it running, driving this summer, maybe take a road trip to Pa.....be safe!! God Bless!!
Put an old school 337 Lincoln flathead "Hot rod Lincoln" for "Free Window".. figure out how to add BW overdrive tailshafts for 39 floor shift tranny, or use BW OD Trannys & conversion shifter (Easier Solution to make the cars more "Highway speed Friendly")
You showed us the shop and upstairs vehicles' plans. What about outside the shop - fire truck and tow changes? In the near distant future, Stromberg Steve and or other will start to specialize on engine/transmission rebuilds. Also great that you found a source capable to fabricate steamed bent wooden pieces.
Great show Matt, you’ve really improved the shop in the time I’ve been watching witch by the way is several years. Keep up the good work and keep moving forward !
Matt, the shop is now so empty that I think that I hear an echo. haha. If you get a shear, make sure that there is enough behind it for material to go through it.
I know it's probably already been mentioned but have you ever thought of a spiral stair case in the corner for getting from the 1st floor to 2nd floor? Enjoy the videos. Also does Steve ever use Grose jets in the Stromberg rebuilds?
Cad flatty!! Im a little biased, i have Dans 41 caddy flathead from before the ls swap. Would love to see you do something with that though! Give me ideas! Haha
One of the basic laws of Newtonian physics: as space increases, stuff expands to fill it! Who was that shadowy figure lurking near the upstairs overhead doors? Stromberg Steve!
Blown Olds 324 from the Beasley estate we bought out last year. Just gather parts to build a car around it someday. Thinking 33/4 roadster or 32-3w.. not sure yet!
You've come a long way since I watched you pull the sweetheart roadster out of that field. It didn't happen by accident though. Your hard work and tenacity got you to this point. Good job and keep it going.🎉
You should open up that cowl vent back to original functional vent!!! Just saying!!✌🏿
amazing... you're one of the last "old school surviver restorer's" for the Henry ford 30's model A , B and the model 40....
Thank you!
As soon as you opened the door to upstairs I just said "Wow." It looks exactly how I hoped it would.
Flathead caddy engine, just cool
Nailhead in the free window
Love updates like this! Shop truck needs some Iron Trap signage 🤗
Wow you got a lot of cool old fords. I like them they are nice and interesting.
Thank you Matt , Mike and Steve for the update on how things are coming along on the different projects !
Matt here’s a tip for your louvered hood. Get some magnetic sign material cut it to shape use it to keep water out during wet conditions. Keep it in the trunk until you need it. Works well.
The ‘33 3 window w/Ardun heads has got to be one of my favorites! Definitely one of my dream rods.

Nice update, I enjoyed it.
Those tires really fit the body line just perfect. 😊
Great Video Matt and Mike. I can't believe how far you guy's and the channel have grown. Looking forward to meet you at Hershey this fall.
Thanks Gerry!

Very Nice! Congratulations! RWB ❤🎉
Thanks guys, always plenty to do. Central California watching.
Totally bitchin guys!
I cannot believe how fast the time goes! Amazing progress on all fronts!✊
I love the '33 3 window the way it looks right now !
"Stromberg Steve " woo hoo now its cannon . It was one of my best idea. I hope he's happy with it LOL .
Man I really like the FreeT. Very envious.

Great update, looking good.
283's are fun, high revving motors. Highly recommend the 300hp 327 cam. Just built one for my '63 Nova convertible. Great sound as it revs.

Easy answer is another new shop!..or some local overflow storage at least.
Well Matt good to have a game plan. Thanks to you for sharing! 👊
Classic Car stereos has some cool looking retro radios that would work for behind your seat. 1940-1959 Ford
How does an upward facing radio behind the seat of a topless roadster keep out rainwater?

Evening thing is looking good
Put that blower motor in the end of the video into the chopped 32 three window! 👌
Wood Stove analogy, "you can build a smaller fire in a big stove, but you can't build a bigger fire in a small stove" same for power shears, & benders..
Love The Free T !
The RPU is my absolute fav. Love it.
Busy busy busy 😂😂
Car is looking badass!!
You need a Hotrod Parts Intervention for sure LOL !!
Sounds like a full year !! Looking forward to it. Great video guys 👍
Great Update.

#PHILLYPHILLY 🇺🇸
As much as I like the magnesium rims I agree those high clearance wheels look perfect
I would like to see the 283 in the free window. Fast, reliable, and easy to fix.
Dad's car would look awesome in a nice gold metallic paint job.
Caddy flathead for the 3 window😊
Put the Cad Flathead in the "Freewindow Coupe
I thought you said "I got rid of my old lady" 🤣
The cars need driven, insure them so trusted friends and family can drive them.

Those wheels look great on my car lol. Some day some day lol
Blown olds in the free window!!!
That would be insane!
🚀SS - Stromberg Steve😎
Awesome updates, love the channel 👀
The Cadillac flathead for sure
Great show Matt, you’ve really improved the shop in the time I’ve been watching witch by the way is several years. Keep up the good work and

Hey fellas
Can we expect to see a vid from your trip to Oz
Cheers
You didn't say you have new merch. ABC hoodie, Always Bitchin Cars. Great video guys.
Cad flatty!! Im a little biased, i have Dans 41 caddy flathead from before the ls swap. Would love to see you do something with that though! Give me ideas! Haha
Oh awesome! He had tempted me with that engine! Haha
@@IronTrapGarage I couldnt resist. Just needs a cpl speed parts and the right car to plug it into!
You may want to look at the modulator in that C-4 on Dad's daily.
Mike, I have really good luck with new stainless steel moons and are cheap enough. All my rides are mooned.
One of the basic laws of Newtonian physics: as space increases, stuff expands to fill it!
Who was that shadowy figure lurking near the upstairs overhead doors? Stromberg Steve!
I thought originally Mike was going to put a nailhead in his Cabriolet ? I guess things have changed ? But I would Love to see a nailhead in one.
No. He has a nailhead for a future project. Never planned to put one in this
Your collection has really grown over the last few years with completed and new projects. Either I missed it or “Beautiful” the ‘33 coupe is missing.
"Beautiful" was sold and sent to Germany some time ago!
How about an update on some of your new signs, noticed the red crown👍
I just sold a complete 32 Flathead v8 that would of been perfect for that 32 3 window
Free window videos next
Not lasers but I used dial type angle finders since the early 60s. Apparently not everybody did.
I would really like to see the race car with a six-cylinder engine and moon should be in the video also
Put the lathe where the bench is. You can't put a drive shaft in there because of the flue interference.
How is your truck project going
Do you have anything planned for the banger motor that was in the lower level shop?
Just been looking for the “right” body or car to build around the engine.
I'm going to miss the old one that shows what things would have been like ollin the day.
What is your update on the fire truck engine ?
What`s the story on the blown engine at 35:50 in the video? What car gets that? One of the 32 3-windows maybe? A first start video would be awesome!
Blown Olds 324 from the Beasley estate we bought out last year. Just gather parts to build a car around it someday. Thinking 33/4 roadster or 32-3w.. not sure yet!
Do u guys sell your cars?
Steve needs a car of his own help me folks
Do you have a price for the vicky yet?
$40k obo.
Problem with the 50s radios most were tube radios and eat up a lot of space
Not knocking the patina look, but do you guys ever plan on having one dolled up and really slick with a nice paint job?
I think the Free T and the Schrol sedan (albeit an older paint job ) fit the bill . Perhaps Mike will show Matt the light and have a dolled up ride.
Did you miss the Free-T in the video? That’s a shiny car we built from scraps…
I know it's ancient history, but did you ever finish the old Cushman scooter that you were doing on the Eastwood channel?
Nope sold it in project form.
I was the1.000 like
You can’t have trailing arms without floaters on a leaf spring it will bind up 🤔😩
I like pickles
Freewindow.....Olds engine.
I’m in indiana but I got a 3phase 52” Pexto shear for sale…..3500.00
Damn that’s tempting!

Where’s Beautiful?
I believe it's been sold and it was told talked about in a previous video
It was sold to a buyer in Europe
@@stewartfalk1977 I believe you're correct
Sold to a viewer in Germany. It’s in a good home!
People wonder how come t takes so long to build some thing you
