+dartzu So why exactly Nintendo pulled down that Mario64 level (because it wasn't even game) from the web? After all japanese debelopers don't care about infrigiment...
Graphically challenged, but the storyline has some effort put into it, the gameplay seems engaging enough to keep an average attention span and the characters all have their own charm. As far as Steam devs go, there's actually potential to this one.
Would have been funnier if she argued that instead of murder she had acted in self defense. Then they take it to a really boring supernatural court. Or it turns into a Pheonix Wright game. Whatever.
I like watching Jims videos. It's encouraging to see, through all the slop, well-conceived and nuanced games DO exist, they're just hard to find. Cheers to all the talented, hard-working developers out there.
I was hesitant to click this, because I did watch the Early access squirt and didn't want to watch all the same stuff all over again. Thanks for jumping in from where you were before.
+Jim Sterling Why? I thought a lot men in Mississippi were into that sort of things... or were you concerned that such men might try and give approving nods while also flirting with you? :3
+Jim Sterling as someone who had her whole bdsm outfit in her carry on when moving to the states.. and of course it set off all the alarms.. had an airport security guy rummage around.. fished out . i cant remember what he help up.. but held it up high for all to see.. "it was this.. you are good to go now maam." ^^
+Jokeritu I wish Jim would remember to brighten the video like he's done with a couple of others, but he only seems to do it when it's too dark for even him to tolerate. I wonder if his recording software has some sort of slider that would permabrighten everything rather than him having to do it in post.
This video was put up 19 minutes ago and there are already 53 likes and 3 dislikes. HOW DO YOU KNOW IF YOU LIKE OR DON'T LIKE THIS VIDEO IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN ALL OF IT?!
+Jeff the Diseased Lung In a Cowboy Hat Because most normal people are capable of making a leap of faith based on how a video's going. Some people make the decision based on a single instant within the video, and some people are so enraptured by Jim's deified aura that they have no doubt everything he'll ever release will be excellent. These people are thus bound to have always liked Jim's videos. You don't know it because you're temporally trapped in one moment in time, but there are already likes on videos Jim hasn't even made yet.
+Jeff the Diseased Lung In a Cowboy Hat Clicking the video and liking it are the preparing steps before watching the video, if the content later turns out to be ones disliking people can be free to revert their decision, chances are you already subscribed because you like the general content, so it's a fair chance you'll like it anyways. When the video is done there is nothing left for you to do here and piss right the fuck off, without navigating the UI again.
It was a decent twist but it was quite obvious when the word poster things came up at the end and you had the options to do stuff to the guy with the whole "choice" thing being one of the words in your face at the end. As soon as you had the option to put the rope around his neck the twist became clear which would have been a decent place to make it clear, but the character didn't act like she knew for longer and the game carried that on so it felt like they didn't expect you to get it for longer.
+Wulfsmasher Do any of you remember Sakura Clicker where Jim mentions this series. I do because I had just "done it" watching it. I felt like he was calling me out on it. Kind of creepy.
I want to see a game/film, with a plotline like this, about a cult performing a murderous ritual to summon their dark god, and they complete the ritual, blood sacrifices and everything, and then... nothing happens. No evil god resurrected from beyond time. Just a bunch of dead bodies, a tribe of cultists filled with regret, and our protagonist asking, 'can I go now?'
Bro Force got some pretty impressive updates between when it came onto Early Access and into full release. That game's pretty bro-tastic, now; it's even got flexing!
Dude, Broforce is fucking amazing! I'm really happy with the progress on that game. I've also never laughed so hard from my own chaotic deaths before ;-)
Not that it will happen, but id love to see a sequel either in game or book form, where maybe you play someone who was close to the main character, and you try to stop it from destroying the world. Not in an action sort of way, but somewhat similar to the type of game play from this game. Maybe even be able to bring her back somehow. Id love that.
Only real criticism based on your play through is that Chapters 4 and 5 looked a bit samey on pacing front - I don't necessarily disagree with a slower more exposition based segment (i.e. the walk with the tape) just following the escape from the house (weather the pressure was real or on triggers), but with the exception of a couple of AT segments and it was basically just walking and exposition, and very, very occasional slight puzzles, from then on, ideally you'd have at least one more action sequence, or a more involved puzzle or two like the crossing of the bridge, between (Basically the relatively quiet walk to the cave and the decent into the cave - Even just making the freeing of your sister and getting into the cave proper into a more involved puzzle, while shrinking the walking from the hut to the cave, would have helped that I think. Aside that this seems like it gets a lot of the same enjoyment as schlock horror, as you said. Not a bad thing for this sort of thing to exist as a game, by any means, even if the pacing could have done with a bit of tweaking in the late middle.
Well, it's a an indie FPS horror game with an actual story, actual voice acting, actual assets, actual programming and actual gameplay. By those alone it's miles ahead of the rest of the Steam dreck already. Oh Jim, if you only had known how much worse it was going to get.
+That one Gay Nazi from outer space but is now the damn fiddle master as in the song "who's your daddy" by lordi? because YES! I would buy the sterling version of that from bandcamp.
There wasn't much game to this but it was an interactive movie that was entertaining. I definitely want to play/watch the game/movie sometime but as for a fair price for this well I don't know what that would be. I guess I'd say the most expensive price you will pay for a movie rental these days would be the maximum I'd pay.
I didn't know being a warlock/satanist was a criminal offense, maybe they're just really common in the games universe and so the police have an arrest on site kind of law.
wait.. scott mcneil was a voice actor in this game? why? how? from anime roles in FMA and Black Lagoon to US cartoons like Double Dragon, GI Joe, Reboot, Beast Wars Transformers to... this? why?
SPOILERS! You know I think it would've been more interesting if it had her turn into that old god, but still keep her old consciousness, so it ends up being this horrible monstrous thing that actually refuses to play the role it was intended to, and doesn't "let this world burn". One of those strange absolvement things. Either way it was actually a pretty decent twist! I wasn't expecting that.
27:23 As I said after the "final" mission in Phantom Pain, "Well that was fucking abrupt."
"Did I miss a hole or something?" A Valid question Jim.
These are like the SyFi original movies of the PC game world.
2:45
"i don't wanna die"
"i know"
classic.
Chapter 4: walking simulator. Chapter 5: dialog simulator.
See, only one youtuber will offer links to BDSM websites in their first-look videos.
+Leah Davis I am the ultimate service.
+Jim Sterling i'm only 17 teen so i didn't know what you were talking about I should have watched the Jim quisition lol
+Leah Davis Makes it fun!
+Leah Davis a real human bean
2:12 Resident Evil 4 sound effect.
thank god japanese developers dont care about copyright infringements
+dartzu So why exactly Nintendo pulled down that Mario64 level (because it wasn't even game) from the web? After all japanese debelopers don't care about infrigiment...

You know it's a horror game on Steam when you can't see a bloody thing on the screen!
Graphically challenged, but the storyline has some effort put into it, the gameplay seems engaging enough to keep an average attention span and the characters all have their own charm. As far as Steam devs go, there's actually potential to this one.

pentagram combined with norse runes that say "fire, water, earth air" in english? Authenticity confirmed.
You know, I'll give the developers credit, this was some pretty solid writing as far as twists go.
I like watching Jims videos. It's encouraging to see, through all the slop, well-conceived and nuanced games DO exist, they're just hard to find. Cheers to all the talented, hard-working developers out there.
I'm not one who complains about darkness, but this game is too fucking dark
I was hesitant to click this, because I did watch the Early access squirt and didn't want to watch all the same stuff all over again. Thanks for jumping in from where you were before.
its low fi but props to the people who made it. real homebrew b-movie production so it's got its charm
there almost seemed to be different endings based on how the ending sequence went
Jim are you bringing the flogger to GaymerX?
I'm just... ya know... curious...
I don't wanna try and get it past a Mississippi scanner.
+Jim Sterling
Why? I thought a lot men in Mississippi were into that sort of things... or were you concerned that such men might try and give approving nods while also flirting with you? :3

... I love this community
good job devs
didn't make a piece of shit!
proud of yah
My brain immediately parsed the title as: "THE RITUAL ON WEINY ISLAND." Doing a great job up there brain.
26:30 "The end of the game is at its end." -- Criswell
Jim Sterling saves Christmas, needs to be a movie.
I hope I'm not the only one who can't see shit in most of the video. Why is it so fucking dark?
+Jokeritu I wish Jim would remember to brighten the video like he's done with a couple of others, but he only seems to do it when it's too dark for even him to tolerate. I wonder if his recording software has some sort of slider that would permabrighten everything rather than him having to do it in post.
Isak Larsson Touché.
+Jokeritu These damn unity games. Always so dark.
+Lord Casodi Just like the future of their devs...
This video was quite enjoyable, thanks Jim
Witness and Hell banners switched places for the final cutscene.

Thanks for reminding me I need to catch up on my TIHYDP's, Jimothy.
We're getting Christmas this year.
Jim will see to it.
22:22 Gene Simmons and The Dark Souls 2 poster guy had a baby!
Very Bulletproof Monk at the end there :)
So how does one raise the subject of hand jibbers during or after the convention?
@21:47 "Oh god, there's loads of 'em!" Loads of whatnow? I can't see a god damn thing!
Jim Sterling is Santa Claus!
It all makes sense now!
+Fiery891 So what presents is he giving his fans this year?
Damn! This game wasn't half bad! Loved the twist ending a lot! :)
That was actually kinda cool. The Horned God design was kind of traditional but that ain't necessarily a bad thing. A fun little game.
i never expected to enjoy this as much as i did ^^ it's like the room... absolute schlock but unintentionally the bestworst thing :D
It was a decent twist but it was quite obvious when the word poster things came up at the end and you had the options to do stuff to the guy with the whole "choice" thing being one of the words in your face at the end. " I'm not gonna DSP this "
Lol, Darksyde Phil?
Why did the Hell and Witness banners change position from when they first entered the ritual place to after she hung the guy :O spooky
WHHAAAAAAAAAAA? CAHHHM AAAAAN!!!
THERE IS NOTHING I CAN DOOOO!!!!
Thanks for reminding me of that dip shit by the way....
+MrEdcar007 ikr? Now I'm tempted to see what he's been up to lately...
+Silent Protagonist Probably still milking his stupid fanbase out of their money and selling his girlfriend's soap...
+MrEdcar007 Lately he's been mad at me for being part of what he calls the "UA-cam elite" ... whatever that means.
Jim Sterling
It means that he is jealous as fuck....
+MrEdcar007 Who?
What does one do with a Jim Sterling?
+Rook Give him Konami and take cover from the blast wave. It'll be apocalyptic, I assure you.
+Rook
Light it up and give it a good drag?
The quality of the voice actors is pretty impressive, too bad the sound recording is so lumpy.
Jesus jesus nester jesus
+Wulfsmasher
I feel like the worst of humankind for knowing what the hell you're referencing.
TDUShelby No shame in having patrician taste
+Wulfsmasher Do any of you remember Sakura Clicker where Jim mentions this series. I do because I had just "done it" watching it. I felt like he was calling me out on it. Kind of creepy.

The plot is pretty awesome. The ending is totally unexpected.
So, are there so many fph games flooding steam to ape off of the success of slender? or is there a bigger picture to it?
Bro Force got some pretty impressive updates between when it came onto Early Access and into full release. That game's pretty bro-tastic, now; it's even got flexing!
Dude, Broforce is fucking amazing! I'm really happy with the progress on that game. I've also never laughed so hard from my own chaotic deaths before ;-)
+Irondrone4 I was going to say that.
+Irondrone4 that's mostly just content though, the game mechanics and quality was pretty much the same
JONTIS BOSH! JONTIS BOSH! JONTIS BOSH! JONTIS BOSH!
"Don't let gooo-" SPLAT
This dude at 22:43 looks like he's from KISS.
Pounding it....Pounding it...
whats up with the shadows in that red tunnel? o.O
This is the best HIT THE LEVER game I've ever watched #FucKonami #DeathWillComeInInches
Santa's coming in inches.
This game feels like a game version of The Wicker Man, especially the synchronized speaking.
Not that it will happen, but id love to see a sequel either in game or book form, where maybe you play someone who was close to the main character, and you try to stop it from destroying the world. How would the brother die from that? Couldn't he just hold on with his hands?
I imagine that a lot of the symbols and dialogue were dragged out of the first five wiccan books the writer found on Amazon.
That was a disappointing ending. Wish their had been an alternative good ending.
Well, it's a an indie FPS horror game with an actual story, actual voice acting, actual assets, actual programming and actual gameplay. By those alone it's miles ahead of the rest of the Steam dreck already. Oh Jim, if you only had known how much worse it was going to get.
Are you sure that's the kind of plug he wanted?
It will come in inches.
Jibber fucking Sterling, son.
Good plug. Interested!
Wait, the main badguy was Scott McNeil? Surely not THE Scott McNeil?!
Good twist, but I was really expecting MEMES :/
+Rhythmetalguitar Like turning into NYANcat rather than random antler guy? :P
What a twist!
7:32 - Just pounding that S....
I hope Jim covers "Who's your daddy".
+That one Gay Nazi from outer space but is now the damn fiddle master as in the song "who's your daddy" by lordi? because YES! I would buy the sterling version of that from bandcamp.
+Fraxxxi lol no but sadly it's actually a game on greenlight that actually looks disturbing in my opinion
Dude, I saw it and thought the exact same thing.
+NotSoWiseSage it looks like it's going to make it on the steam store which in my opinion is not a good idea since it doesn't look finished at all.
+That one Gay Nazi from outer space but is now the damn fiddle master LOL I saw that too
So, apparently the uncle is Trevor Phillips from GTA V. Explains the 'loopy' bit.
it certainly does help to have a map :D
The only pain in pleasure is the pleasure of pain
*whip* *crack*
This game did a great job with the tools it had. It was corny sure, but it seemed like it entertained.
If there is an Old God, is there a Young God?
+Rain If you mean by comparison then yes. None of them are young by our standards though. Oh wait this was rhetorical? Woops.
+Rain Well... There's always the Time Baby
There wasn't much game to this but it was an interactive movie that was entertaining. I definitely want to play/watch the game/movie sometime but as for a fair price for this well I don't know what that would be. well god may be dead but at least we got the next best thing, (better depending on who you ask) Jim-Fucking-Sterling-Son
Victor Vran was pretty good when it came out
That was pretty awesome!
I... actually want to know what happens next. That ending feels like it should be the middle of the story.
Just imagine this happening right now somewhere. We would all be fucked.
I know the sickness issues right now.
wait.. scott mcneil was a voice actor in this game? why? how? from anime roles in FMA and Black Lagoon to US cartoons like Double Dragon, GI Joe, Reboot, Beast Wars Transformers to... this? why?
the Dramatic fight scene would have worked better if the models weren't all clipping inside each other
It's like a B-movie but a game. Amazing.
Jim Sterling for Santa Claus.
7:48 Bugged Konami mechanics.
SPOILERS!
You know I think it would've been more interesting if it had her turn into that old god, but still keep her old consciousness, so it ends up being this horrible monstrous thing that actually refuses to play the role it was intended to, and doesn't "let this world burn". Either way it was actually a pretty decent twist! I wasn't expecting that.
It's amazing how a sentence from one of the worst/most hilarious games on Steam can last so long.
That was kinda good in a cheesy horror kinda way.
So... did we win?
Flogger for a blogger... I like it
why can't we ever have one of these Horror cults who are completely wrong?
So even Jim has heard of the "DSP It" phrase. Hopefully no one looked him up when you mentioned him and gave the scumbag views he doesn't deserve!
Nice squirty play :)
I was expecting she would turn into a Queen of Blades like monster, not Hircine from Elder Scrolls. But is alright i guess.
I miss Indigo Prophecy.
TOO DARK! What happened to increasing the gamma for our benefit?
