Nice. So I’m guessing the top of the range has the option of fitting tank tracks and a turret and for an extra £50000 you can add and extra 3 tonnes for stabilisation and plough through all the other peasants on the road.
Saw one in the flesh one day. I have to say I prefer the look of the past two generations more than the new one. Also, the MSRP of this gen is much higher than the last one. (At least in Canada, 3.0 SE is about the same price as MY19 5.0 SC HSE)
Didnt think 2.5t was much different to the previous generations so a quick root around on the web suggests L320 was 2460 to 2645kg, 2nd generation was around 200 kilos lighter. A friend recently weighed their 2005 defender 110 td5 station wagon at 2.125!
Those were body on frame. That's where the weight came from. This new one didn't return to a frame, so an on frame equivalent/version of it would probably be 3 tonnes.
I’m sorry, but what is the matter with the designers? I like the front splitter (well splitter-esque, at least) piece of equipment and the vents on the hood and the sides. But do they really have to be just for decoration? Would it have killed them to make them functional? I mean, that’s always been a pet peeve of mine to see things like that or exhaust pipes being purely for decoration.
I have never understood why car designers ,design a dummy vent (especially in or around the font grill) and not either have it body colour and solid, or black and add a couple of small (useless if you like) to atleast look functional.
Yes, I'm with you, and can we just talk about the rear as well? It's just a lump of tall, boxy metal with nothing really going for it. You'd think it were a van if it didn't have Range Rover written on it!
Love your videos @harrysgarage but please, please, please adjust your Goodwood festival posters so that they are all hanging at the same height!!!! Will gladly pop round to rectify if you wish 😅
I hate the false stuff manufacturers put in their cars. At the front especially, let make the car have more drag and add weight. The material on the doors, great to clean once your kids have got there sticky hands on it. Def change the tyres first. Front spoiler is no no for me too. I still love found dials. I don’t need a tachometer though. I don’t believe anyone uses them. My problem with the flatscreen is it’s like it’s added on rather than in the dash. We all know Range Rover and sport don’t go together.
had a Range Rover svr from new 2 years old now , was thinking about buying the new one , but after driving the jaguar f pace svr drives way better sounds amazing so ive ordered one yesterday in black . :))
Pretty much sums up the issues I have with JLR products at the moment. They all seem a bit bloated, expensive and want to occupy the same piece of the market.
hi harry another great review . cars are getting so expensive honestly do you really think the price of that range rover is worth it ? keep up the good work ,
Saw one the other day in a showroom next to an Evoque, the back end is virtually identical shape just bigger. As a matter of interest I once weighed my Range Rover L322 TD6 that tipped the scales at 2760kg
Does anyone think Range Rover have bothered to make the UK's most unreliable car more reliable ? would be an improvement to get it off the bottom of the list of most unreliable cars from 0 to 3 years old
There was a recent report that their yearly warrenty claims and repairs under warrenty went down from £1.2 billion to £800mil. So progress is being made, albeit slowly. Still the worst reliability scores in the industry.
Interesting review. It sort of feels like RRS has lost its way a bit. The styling is a bit of a mishmash, it's put on weight so has comprised the handling, and has lost some of its edge compared to full fat RR.
Love the channel Harry, I like the Range Rover S but it’s just too expensive, I test drove a 2022 but found the Audi Q7 better value, equal or better ride and although slightly slower 0-60 fast enough. Additionally the Q7 has the 7 seats which is ideal with 3 kids. Keep up the great work and happy new year 👍
The front and rear look odd. Not awful but not quite right. The front has the lights being to skinny and then a wide empty bumper before the lower part with another bumper and the number plate looking like it’s slid down the car. The back again the plate is too low the tailgate curves round with no bumper or any sort of styling

When I told a Facebook friend who works at a Range Rover dealership, she said, ‘that’s nothing. A bloke came in last week and order 2 Range Rovers, for £200k each’ 😳
@@jak493 I struggled to get the full list of 22k out of him, in front of his partner, who is horrified, but the last 5 grand of 22k, I think was SEVEN point FIVE k, of wheels. No wonder, Kahn, Revere, Urban, and Overfinch have found a market 😂I got to 17k, of what he said, and then had to fudge the last 5k with the wheel options 😳
It's hideous! 😨 🤢 And buttons are GOOD because they allow you to press and know the function is selected, enabling to do this while concentrating on the road. Touch screens with huge menus are BAD for the same reason...Hate the car 👎 but love the content Harry! 👍🏻
Couldn't agree more - I've done 57k in my SQ7 now - the screens in it are not suitable for road cars, they are totally ridiculous and dangerous, like using a smart phone.
@@Holloweve The haptic feedback is irrelevant and doesn't help - because the problem is in pressing the right part of the screen in the first place, which demands too much concentration and distraction from the road. With proper buttons I can make adjustments often just by feel.
@@highlandmalt6368 Ni, I have the Q8 which has identical screens and have no problem. The nav is set at the start of trip when not moving, music doesn’t change much once I’ve started a trip, and I guess I’m like many and stick to the same radio station. In Austria the Range Rover Sport Autobiography D350 starts at 145.000 Euro (129.000 GBP)... 99.951 GBP would be the starting price for a Sport SE D250...
The maddest thing is the trend started in America where at least the roads have room. What the heck do you do in thing like this in the UK when Waze takes you down one of those 5 foot wide country lanes it loves so much?
What I hate about us British, we make such good looking stuff, but I wish we addressed reliability to levels of Land Cruiser (supposedly JLR are addressing things), that would be a brilliant thing.
It just represents all that is wrong with this world, it says or shouts that the owner does not give a dam about anyone or anything outside, nor do they really know what to do with there cash! And it looks so angry from the front. ( also noted, H didn’t take it off road)
I like the new RR Sport. We test drove one last week (looking at the engine performance for RR purchase, and the demonstrator Sport had the engine we are considering), and I was very pleasantly surprised by the Sport in general. Didn't feel as heavy as it is in terms of handling.
Why don't manufacturers put a sliding vertical divider or bar in the boot? Fake vents - good luck keeping those clean. What happens when the all glass cockpits go dark or get damaged? How much will that cost to fix?
So it's spacious and good for long journeys. If I had six figures, I'd be looking at something else. The V8 sound piped in, borders on the ludicrous...
Nothing wrong with round dials.. I always try out the options on the digital dashes of the various cars I drive, but guess which one I always end up going back to.... Just easy to read at a glance.
I think staying with round dials is just LR trying not to depart too far from what is expected from a Range Rover. And upsetting it’s core customers. Personally I still like a round dial. And I would love to own one of these. And yes I would have the diesel. I’m Just not ready for electric.
As someone who progressed from Sport to Range Rover, I have to say I can’t imagine going back. Back in 2010 when I ordered my first Sport the full fat was £20k more and I simply couldn’t afford that additional cost back then. The fact they are still only £20k more shows how that price difference has shrunk. But the image, the feel difference with Sport vs full fat? Full fat is leaps better both in L405 and L460 versions and part of me is baffled why anyone would buy the Sport apart from willing to compromise image and features vs price.
Interesting and informative video, as usual. Re. the price tax of 100k+, from where I'm sitting that looks like a bargain. It's presently impossible to find a Sport on offer in Europe for less than 200k Euro, which is a lot more than 100k sterling! 😞
I’ve been waited patiently for this review. I have driven one and do agree with your summary. I was expecting you to love it. I’d be interested to here your thoughts on the P440e given how well you got on with the X5 45e
No handbrake / parking brake button / override is quite an omission 8:52 E60 535d produced 66 dB at 70 mph (Top Gear test) in 2004 - a little disappointing NVH hasn't improved much in 20 years
Our 2006 Honda CRV (which we regrettably sold 2 years ago) had not only a hidden compartment in the rear, but also a very decent-sized, and sturdy, fold-away picnic table. The heater/aircon/fan etc. controls were large, tactile, and had a very satisfying wee click when turned. There was space for an easy replacement double din stereo/navi unit. The seats were excellent. It had a 2.4 V-tec engine that had plenty of grunt, was super smooth, and good enough mileage (a bit shit around town but it was our weekend car). Oh yes, and the fold down seats in the back that folded up against the front seats and left a yawning gap of space behind them. It had pearl white paint that looked great. Nice wheels. And never let us down, and we always enjoyed getting into it (it had a tan interior....kinda). A dive shop owner (oh yeah we put a tow bar on it) bought it off us for $NZ8000 with 106K kms. And mint. So....we don't see the value or point of this stupid bloody car. Cool review though Harry!! And thanks for your honesty.
Puzzled by your comment about not liking round dials? These present info in an analogue format, which you can read with a momentary glance, or even on the edge of your vision, purely by the angle of the needle. Digital or odd shaped readaouts (BMW a culprit here) require a positive look. A conventional wristwatch demonstrates my point, as do church clocks which can be read at a distance without physically being able to read the numerals. In other words, round dials, along with the round steering wheel, show that the dashboard/control interfaces have been optimised, so why change them particularly when what replaces them is less functional?
You're probably correct but as that is the demographic who have the money the marketing department style it to sell to them. Would you make the design unappealing to its core market?
Its the Sports image which puts me off....it is usually driven by complete prats. Wouldn't want to be associated with that. Its also not a pretty vehicle...its a lump. So dumpy that 22" wheels don't look big - remember the original Range Rover had 16" wheels which looked quite big at the time! The original Sport was quite sharp looking and not too big. The price is also obscene.
Not sure this is a car i'd want to try taking into a multi storey car park, it's a big beastie. Personally not a fan of this design thing of making headlights and taillights so thin, they make cars looks weird. The rear bumper is a mess too, that huge flat area for the number plate looks naff.
You’ll make new friends owning a Range Rover……mostly AA recovery workers or the guys at the tracker company when it gets nicked, but still, new friends 😂
Bit of a ''old man'' rant incoming, what i really like about the older models of RR sport is the greenhouse effect, large windows, really roomy and lights up the cabin. As newer stuff comes out they are getting more and more goofy, GIANORMOUS doors with teeny weeny glass plus the roof gets lower and lower. It looks dull and claustrophobic, the center console doesn't help.
The typical Range Rover customer really doesn't care how efficient it is or how the tyres affect the handling, the closest to going off road they get is chewing up peoples grass verge
Could you review the SVR version when that comes out? Since this is not that dynamic and fun as you mentioned, perhaps the SVR will offer everything that's missing on this version with it's BMW V8/etc....
Really not sure about it but still get excited when i see one like a new Porsche or something! Also please review that F50 already wondered if it came with the shoes!?
We have a 2020 RR Sport with 13k miles and a slow, undiagnosed, radiator fluid leak and there’s a 2+ month wait for service at every dealership in Michigan.
Having recently been a passenger in a RR Sport I have to say it had hardly any more usable interior space than my VW Up. It was cramped and the boot space was woeful. LR have managed to engineer a reverse TARDIS which is huge on the outside and tiny on the inside. £100k too is ridiculous. As for the security 😳
Wonder why people pay £40k extra for a Range Rover when they could get a Jag F Pace - which is more or less identical inside, which is what it’s based on. And having driven both, the Jag is a much better drive. By the way, if you don’t like the round dials you can change the layout, well you can on the Jag at least.
Love the brand…… from my Slla ex MOD on 900-16 bar treads……. my mates vinyl lined 2 door Rangey…… many many more since……. 33 years of moving them on recovery lorries has made me a decent living…… still admiring but not buying……. Owning…. G wagons, Amazons and my still pristine XC90 D5 SE When the first Disco landed with a big crash, courtesy of its monocoque body on a box chassis, we winced at the weight for carrying them……. then the reclothed Disco AKA Range Rover Sport appeared, thuggishly pounding out the ruts and straining my trucks yet further……… eventually, the replacement went proper monocoque architecture and became easier to move (and move them we did)……. Only to creep on up again, as you stated….. 😳 Most of our contracted rates have an adjustment for kerbweight and/or GVW…… now, I know they are far from unique in the premium SUV world, but Good God !! They are treated as commercial. We see many people yomping up the road with Range Rover models on 4 wheel trailers… behind vans and other SUV’s, clearly oblivious to the safety and legality of such actions……🙁 As you say Harry….. too many models 🙁 To me, the Evoque has a place……. the Defender should be the Discovery……. the Velour is pointless (as pointless as the Disco is ugly 🙂)…… the Disco Sport should be an Evoque GT or ?, the Range Rover as is, as it is a lovely thing and one we now rarely see at work - which is a good thing. Maybe you’re onto something with a “mad as a fish” sports thing, tauter, lighter, ridiculously overpowered - the sort of thing Tim Burton would have in lime green 🥳 Then…….. and most importantly……. A LANDROVER Utility spec, dry, draught free, enough driver seat room for an adult, simple, robust……. No electric version - save a hybrid, no gimmicks… steel wheels, decent tyres, coil springs, manual box with no more than 5 gears, 3500kg towing And CHEAP 🏁🇬🇧 The Landrover ruled the world…… then, like they say in Australia…… if you want to drive into the outback, get a Landrover……. if you want to drive back……. get a Landcruiser…… Time to redress the balance 🙂🇬🇧
So is my Stelvio ( 2.0t 280hp) measured at 64db at 70mph on summer tires, so what is so "plush" and superior about this RR, other that is atrociously overpriced?
7:50 - Some idle musing on the 'round dial versus square screen' display issue... There's a split-second data-recognition advantage in having round dials/circular displays. When our eyes see a dial, the information is either centred (digital display in the middle) or positional (needle pointing to known numeral locations around the face). A circle naturally guides the mind to what's important. We don't need to think about where to look - we just react to what we're being 'forced' to see. Wristwatches usually have round faces with analogue hands. We see the time - instantly - we don't read it. A digital display, however, requires thought. Seeing the time instead of reading it is the equivalent of learned muscle-memory when playing guitar chords. The shapes just happen, faster than you can think. On a car dashboard that means our eyes focus instantly on the required data in the circle before flicking back to the road. With a rectangular display - especially a digital screen - we're conditioned to see it as a page. Childhood conditioning runs deep. However limited the amount of data on show, we can't help but concentrate on checking everything, starting from the top-left corner just in case there's something new. In guitar terms, it's like having to think, "First finger goes here... Second finger, there; third goes over there..." That's way too slow for rock 'n' roll. Glancing at a modern car's rectangular digital speedo, even when we know that there's no more than a speed in mph to be seen, we naturally spend an extra tiny fraction of a second checking the rest of the 'page' for fresh information. We can't help it. It's how we were raised. A few microseconds may seem unimportant, but in this instance, thinking is bad. Thinking of where to look takes our focus off the really important part of what we're doing, which is driving. In traffic. Surrounded by idiots. Idiots who are also thinking about the wrong things, rather than relying on their faster-than-thought reflexes to respond to the right ones. Yes, the time differences involved are ridiculously small, but they exist. Today's drivers have more than enough distractions already - countless gadgets and toys, controls and settings, touch-screens, digital navigation maps, media menus, phones - and they're being operated from an air-conditioned, heated armchair (with shiatsu massage function🙄) by a driver who's all warm and snug and cosy and probably barely awake. So a round dial that takes less time to read than a square one is... good. A driver who prefers to take things easy, relax, slow everything down, take plenty of time to read the dashboard display(s) because it'd be rude not to is... bad. Your views may differ...💩👀
If these SUVs get any bigger, people are going to need a Class 1 to drive one.

Thanks for this I’ve been looking for one to replace my cayenne….went electric blue svr. Superb!!
great review again Harry but I hate the false vents, lack of real switches, over- sized wheels and tyres and the sheer size and price of it.
@Official_Harrygarage Get a real job
Harry, Land Rover should remain 100% “hooked” on its off road capability. It’s their USP and is amazing
Well said sir.
Still struggles in snow 🤣

Nice. So I’m guessing the top of the range has the option of fitting tank tracks and a turret and for an extra £50000 you can add and extra 3 tonnes for stabilisation and plough through all the other peasants on the road.
No, this is Land Rover. £50'000 is far too reasonable a price tag for that option. I think they want £250'000 for that :)
No,that's Tesla model X you're talking about.
Saw one in the flesh one day. I have to say I prefer the look of the past two generations more than the new one. Also, the MSRP of this gen is much higher than the last one. (At least in Canada, 3.0 SE is about the same price as MY19 5.0 SC HSE)
Stay clear of British made cars. The most unreliable in the world.
Complete garbage.
@@paddymuppy Knock on British Aluminium. No issue so far.
Oh dear, too big to park, too expensive, 70's slabby front end. These SUV's are now silly. Thanks for the video, will give these a wide berth.
. . . you'll need a very wide berth!
Still got the dual shark fin aerials on the roof. From Halfords in the 1990's
I was waiting for you to review the new sport. This is cause your reviews are always THE BEST. Please carry on doing reviews of premium cars.
not just premium, I would watch Harry review pretty much any car
@@Hali88 True
Whe you say "premium" do you mean "cars only the 1% can afford"?
@@DidesCharlie Yeah basically. When they’re used, premium cars like this will be a lot cheaper
Do you like burning more fuel or not?
Open vents = drag
Yes, I'm with you, and can we just talk about the rear as well? It's just a lump of tall, boxy metal with nothing really going for it. You'd think it were a van if it didn't have Range Rover written on it!
Keep in mind that many of Range Rover's customers have lots of fake bits attached to them, too.
What is dumber? Fake vents or people complaining about fake vents?
Excellent review, I totally agree, and yet my neighbour has one on his drive and I have to admit, it looks rather good!
Have a Defender D300 and have the same issues with the sound - it's sounds good, but also a little weird "artificial"...
had a Range Rover svr from new 2 years old now , was thinking about buying the new one , but after driving the jaguar f pace svr drives way better sounds amazing so ive ordered one yesterday in black . :))

They copied the Qashqai!

The rear looks poor, what is that small cut out for the hidden exhaust, it's not befitting of a 100,000 grand car.
Another cracker - thanks Harry. Love the honesty. It does look like a confused dogs dinner.
Interesting review. It sort of feels like RRS has lost its way a bit. The styling is a bit of a mishmash, it's put on weight so has comprised the handling, and has lost some of its edge compared to full fat RR.
Bit like my missus then
What on earth is wrong with round dials?
Harry wants to re invent the wheel lol
If the Range Rover sport is 2.5ton, how heavy is a standard Range Rover. Great video ‘H’ 👍🏻😀
Keep up the great work and happy new year 👍
More of an estate car though

The front and rear look odd. Not awful but not quite right.
The front has the lights being to skinny and then a wide empty bumper before the lower part with another bumper and the number plate looking like it’s slid down the car.
The back again the plate is too low the tailgate curves round with no bumper or any sort of styling
Nice video Harry.
I think it's a bit bland looking 👍
Great video! A friend, who has a business called Harry’s, ordered one in Firenza Red. Which, I’m certain this one is, but he has 22k of options 😳a P430, hybrid Autobiography. When I told a Facebook friend who works at a Range Rover dealership, she said, ‘that’s nothing. A bloke came in last week and order 2 Range Rovers, for £200k each’ 😳
If you go in the configurator, there isn’t £20k of options available as they are fully loaded. What did he get for £20k, a butler?
@@jak493 I struggled to get the full list of 22k out of him, in front of his partner, who is horrified, but the last 5 grand of 22k, I think was SEVEN point FIVE k, of wheels. I don't agree with you about round dials. They are so much easier to read at a glance. If it ain't broke......
from Africa, kenya and love the reviews
It's hideous! 😨 🤢 And buttons are GOOD because they allow you to press and know the function is selected, enabling to do this while concentrating on the road. Touch screens with huge menus are BAD for the same reason...Hate the car 👎 but love the content Harry! 👍🏻
Couldn't agree more - I've done 57k in my SQ7 now - the screens in it are not suitable for road cars, they are totally ridiculous and dangerous, like using a smart phone.
It has haptic feedback and a lot of functions are switches or knobs below or on the steering wheel.., or voice
@@Holloweve The haptic feedback is irrelevant and doesn't help - because the problem is in pressing the right part of the screen in the first place, which demands too much concentration and distraction from the road. With proper buttons I can make adjustments often just by feel.
@@Holloweve ...Ooof! 😒
@@highlandmalt6368 Ni, I have the Q8 which has identical screens and have no problem. The AC is set on auto and even with our temps ranging from 3 - 40+ degrees heat in Cyprus, gets touched about twice a year, unless I use “I’m too hot / cold” voice command. The nav is set at the start of trip when not moving, music doesn’t change much once I’ve started a trip, and I guess I’m like many and stick to the same radio station. Volume is on the wheel anyway and phone controls are in the thumb controlled virtual cockpit screen which is brilliant and has been for years.
I’m genuinely interested what it is people are doing to be constantly messing about with touchscreens. Most of the commands are set up screens rather than on the move. Interested to hear how you use the MMI.

Can't fault your logic Mr. Metcalfe, 100k for a Sport? Nope. Great video
In Austria the Range Rover Sport Autobiography D350 starts at 145.000 Euro (129.000 GBP)... 99.951 GBP would be the starting price for a Sport SE D250...
How big are cars going to get until they start to reduce in size again. Crazy.
The maddest thing is the trend started in America where at least the roads have room. What the heck do you do in thing like this in the UK when Waze takes you down one of those 5 foot wide country lanes it loves so much?
Don't worry, if the forced transition to EVs is allowed to continue then in less than a decade most people won't even be able to own a car anyway.
@@bergeracvandamme Oooh, edgy!
oddly how we are changing to EVs these vehicles will weigh in at 3 tons + with carbon foot prints as big has Bigfoot lol

Funny to look st this now thst we know Harry got himself the RR Sport
Automotive equivalent of designer sports gear.
Why do they put two antennas on the roof now Harry? I agree about the sound, hate the artificial piped engine noise.
Ask a pilot why round dials are easy to read, and then you'll know why they use them. Great review thanks.
Another good report from Harry. But once again, poor sound quality when he is driving.
I like the new RR Sport. We test drove one last week (looking at the engine performance for RR purchase, and the demonstrator Sport had the engine we are considering), and I was very pleasantly surprised by the Sport in general. Didn't feel as heavy as it is in terms of handling.
Hello have you been listed on my inventory?
I’ve just taken delivery of my Range Rover 2023, tried the sport but get the bigger one it’s much better. Prefer it over my new defender
They should start taxing based on weight as well! I can imagine the stress on the road surface when this tanks hits the breaks at 130kmh+
The front looks okay but the back is a mess
I agree. The back looks like a Mitsubishi SUV 😳
That really made me laugh. The car is extremely quiet so they pipe faux V8 noise in. Really?
I bought my 1800 sq foot home for $75k.....a fraction of what this car costs....to most people...over $100,000 pounds is a lot to spend on a ride.
Great video as ever…..but no field test..🤨….I know, I know, it would probably cause too much damage to the grass, given the conditions
I’ve been waited patiently for this review.
I have driven one and do agree with your summary.
I was expecting you to love it.
I’d be interested to here your thoughts on the P440e given how well you got on with the X5 45e
The X5 is still miles ahead. Only Volvo come close to it in terms of hybrid ability.
No handbrake / parking brake button / override is quite an omission
8:52 E60 535d produced 66 dB at 70 mph (Top Gear test) in 2004 - a little disappointing NVH hasn't improved much in 20 years
Our 2006 Honda CRV (which we regrettably sold 2 years ago) had not only a hidden compartment in the rear, but also a very decent-sized, and sturdy, fold-away picnic table.
CRV is a lovely car. Rock solid. RRs and Rolls Royce's aren't "necessary" when you can get a Landcruiser or a Lexus. They're desirable:)
Awesome video by Harry but this is a total chav footballers car driven by houses wives in gym gear ! Fake air vents and fake noise says it all !
You're probably correct but as that is the demographic who have the money the marketing department style it to sell to them. Would you make the design unappealing to its core market?
@@frankcooper7223 Can’t argue with that answer Frank ! I would take a Defender over the Sport !
Thanks Harry, i think it's getting to close to the regular RR in price, i have never liked the silly half windows.
Thanks Harry for the great content!😊
Nice review Harry! Thumbs up! But i expected you will test the P510e to compare with the BMW X5 45e? Perhaps later?😊
100% agree
What’s happening with the Farm videos Harry? Getting agri-twitchy here….
Hi Harry, from New Zealand. Love your reviews - many thanks.
The typical Range Rover customer really doesn't care how efficient it is or how the tyres affect the handling, the closest to going off road they get is chewing up peoples grass verge
. . . or going up on the kerb while waiting for the kids to come out of school.
There seems to be a race to make a 3 ton car.
Hideous thing.
Hello have you been listed on my Inventory?
Wonder why people pay £40k extra for a Range Rover when they could get a Jag F Pace - which is more or less identical inside, which is what it’s based on. And having driven both, the Jag is a much better drive. By the way, if you don’t like the round dials you can change the layout, well you can on the Jag at least.
F Pace is a totally different platform. Maybe your confusing Range Rover Velar (same platform as F Pace) with RRS and RR
Love the brand…… from my Slla ex MOD on 900-16 bar treads……. my mates vinyl lined 2 door Rangey…… many many more since…….
33 years of moving them on recovery lorries has made me a decent living…… still admiring but not buying……. Owning…. G wagons, Amazons and my still pristine XC90 D5 SE
When the first Disco landed with a big crash, courtesy of its monocoque body on a box chassis, we winced at the weight for carrying them……. then the reclothed Disco AKA Range Rover Sport appeared, thuggishly pounding out the ruts and straining my trucks yet further……… eventually, the replacement went proper monocoque architecture and became easier to move (and move them we did)……. Only to creep on up again, as you stated….. 😳
Most of our contracted rates have an adjustment for kerbweight and/or GVW…… now, I know they are far from unique in the premium SUV world, but Good God !! They are treated as commercial.
We see many people yomping up the road with Range Rover models on 4 wheel trailers… behind vans and other SUV’s, clearly oblivious to the safety and legality of such actions……🙁
As you say Harry….. too many models 🙁
To me, the Evoque has a place……. the Defender should be the Discovery……. the Velour is pointless (as pointless as the Disco is ugly 🙂)…… the Disco Sport should be an Evoque GT or ?, the Range Rover as is, as it is a lovely thing and one we now rarely see at work - which is a good thing.
Maybe you’re onto something with a “mad as a fish” sports thing, tauter, lighter, ridiculously overpowered - the sort of thing Tim Burton would have in lime green 🥳
Then…….. and most importantly……. A LANDROVER
Utility spec, dry, draught free, enough driver seat room for an adult, simple, robust……. No electric version - save a hybrid, no gimmicks… steel wheels, decent tyres, coil springs, manual box with no more than 5 gears, 3500kg towing
And CHEAP 🏁🇬🇧
The Landrover ruled the world…… then, like they say in Australia…… if you want to drive into the outback, get a Landrover……. if you want to drive back……. get a Landcruiser……
Time to redress the balance 🙂🇬🇧
Good review, a vehicle that comes straight from the Marketing dept. and bypassed Engineering.

Second finger, there; third goes over there..."
That's way too slow for rock 'n' roll.
Starting price for this model is 187k here in Ireland. A fine family car for the average Joe 😅
Even if you are in the top 1% it is kind of a lot.
