Don't forget he then went to visit his boat and had lunch in an exclusive club in Monaco. Yep definitely winning in life.
But so generous in his style. My wife (glancing up from her phone) said “Ilove how he engages but never brags.”. As someone who subscribed to Evo in 2002 and followed the journey, I suggest Harry has worked bloody hard, is talented and made some clear life decisions to get to that road trip we see today. Well done H and keep them coming.

More I watch Harry’s videos, the more I realise he doesn’t make these videos for anything other than to share his enthusiasm and passion for cars and bikes. He’s more than wealthy enough to not give a jot about chasing subscribers, views and clickbait titles etc. His authenticity really comes across in all his videos.
Completely agree. He’s not trying, or acting up for the camera - you just get genuine enthusiasm and an eagerness to share the experience.
His enthusiasm is what draws us all to his channel.
He’s down to earth, never vulgar about his wealth and really is “Just a bloke who loves things with engines”.

Great, Harry’s garage is like my Sunday evening replacement for Top Gear. Hats off to the Mrs for managing to keep her breakfast and lunch down whilst filming you flying around the French countryside.

Harry always does a “proper” test. Puts the miles in and really learns what a car is like in the wild rather than a manufacturers set journey.
I believe most journalist would love doing tests this way, but manufacturers wont let them.
@@Aol8887 Manufacturers need to realise that letting a journalist do a 1000 miles in a car is far better. Instead of some stupid test where they only get an hour in the car and it's on some smooth as a baby's arse roads in South of Spain.
@@teabagtowers3823 But then the driver might find something they dislike after 1000 miles, or things they actually really like. Versus, press car on this route in whatever conditions that day, journalist or UA-camr finds things they don't like right away and things they might like if they had more time. Yeah, doesn't really make much sense. Harry probably helps out with his "dislikes" when he can actually experience the car for a longer period of time and different situations.

@@jone8626 Then by that logic Harry should be banned from reviewing BMW’s as he has been pretty critical of their looks especially the likes of the M2/M3/IX. Same with Range Rovers as he said the recent Range Rover hybrid was basically too heavy and struggled down a bumpy road. Oh and you going to mention what he said about the Ferrari 296 in this video?
Yet he'll still receive cars from all of those manufacturers in the future. It's always amusing when you clueless armchair numpties believe this conspiracy theory narrative that car reviewers never say anything negative.
That and that you get blacklisted for being negative for one most cars these days tend not to have major issues minor niggles yes. That and it would also reflect pretty poorly on manufacturers if they just blacklisted anyone and everyone whenever they criticised their cars as there would be nobody left to review their cars. If you don't like the video then the exit is over there mate.

The french love exotic cars. Years ago, we did a tour with a small group in the Vosges mountains. While approaching a detour around a small village due to a local festival happening in the main street, the local police man rerouting the traffic spotted us and told us to drive directly through the main venue stage. So we where part of the attraction and everybody had great fun, spectators and us.
Furthermore, people driving in front of you tend to indicate to the right side to give you way and let you overtake, giving you thumbs up.
The complete opposite to what you experience while travelling through Germany.

As someone who has driven most McLaren extensively I can say they’re all different and 720 is a masterpiece. Yet to try 750.
Compared to the competition, McLaren have achieved remarkable results in a very short time. They deserve more recognition and success

I think it helps so much that it's a tasteful spec. A beautiful subdued color plus wheels that accent the car without trying too hard. Hopefully silver/gray wheels become more common on sports cars again.

Adore the spec on this, V classy, giving real McLaren F1 XP5 vibes. Harry's always such a pleasure to listen too, much more interesting as a former automotive journalist rather than some clueless supercar "influencer".

I don't necessarily disagree with you but why do people so often have to put others down while giving someone a compliment? It seems it wouldn't be too difficult to avoid that.
Also, saying "you're much better than those idiots" is pretty shit as far as compliments go.

I probably was a bit mean against supercar influencers, it’s just that a lot of the time they only seem interested in views and the latest and greatest thing rather than sharing a true in-depth passion for all things automotive

@@marcushogan6613 Sure, but I think the views and latest and greatest go a bit hand in hand. The automotive youtube crowd is on the younger side and they don't really want long term car reviews or engine rebuilds, and because most youtubers rely on views and sponsors to make a living they tend to do what's most popular.
Harry on the other hand can nerd out on exactly what he wants no matter if he gets 1k or 1mil views per video. And if we're really honest Harry is as much of a supercar influencer as everyone else, these roadtrips always makes me want to sell a few organs so I can buy a Countach and go down to the south of France too. =)

Love that the 750s wheels are mirror image left and right. Last time I had that was a 1988 Honda!
Citroen SM cabrio - hmmm, there's a car I'd like a closer look at. Checking it out; six made by the _extremely_ exclusive coachbuilder Heuliez - one known to have gone up in flames, the rest apparently "impossible to find" (but Harry seems to have just stumbled across one here).
Because they're stuck away from prying eyes in secret invite-only places like this... now that's what I call an exclusive classic.

I absolutely love the grand touring aspects of Harry's videos. It's one of my favorite things to do is take some days and drive somewhere in my old Alfa GTV6. It's definitely the journey, and I love getting out in the country side and soaking up the scenery as well as driving the rural roads.

Spent a lot of summer holidays in the Dordogne / Limousin area as a kid. Same ferry route too. Beautiful part of the world. One of my favourite car memories is of us following a decrepit old Citroen van that was so rusted out that every time it went over a bump or turned the back half would deviate wildly from the front.
Dordogne probably changed a lot since you went there. Full of flashy english in flash cars flashing money in a wholly obnoxious way. Has really changed, charm has gone.

Certain angles and lines keep making me think of the XJR-15
Antibes is my favorite vacation I've ever had. Rented a scooter and putted around the roads, would do a motorbike now. That car looks so good. I love the idea of the focus on driver feel. My worry with this is that it's too much. Like my sport bike could never leave 3rd gear without extremely breaking every speed limit in the country.
I’m also a great fan of Antibes. We’ve walked past Harry’s boat a few times without realising. I’ve just checked backed through last year’s photos and it’s included in one of them.
You’d be disappointed. Do it on bikes. Yes. Do it in a convertible. Yes. Do it in this sterile tin can. Nope. Not for me. And I’d bet you would, genuinely, be disappointed. After the first half hour of being in a very fast car, I mean…
@@iaingraham7276 Yeah after I bought my 1000cc I was like Yeah! and I zipped up to 200kph 3 times and then I was like, now what? When I had a 250cc I had way more fun.

That was great Harry, made more so by a car which has more performance than most super bikes yet it seemed very drivable and quite docile when needed! Excellent job McLaren.
Yeah 720 is very tractable and highly refined at slow speeds. The breadth of its qualities is staggering compared to most of its peers.
Not tried 750 as yet but I’m guessing it’s not bad either!
My dad, Colin Howard's Rallycross car, a 2wd Escort, did 2.8 to 60...never thought a road car would get there! John Welch was his teM mate & his ex-Maryin Schanche escort did 2.4 as it was 4wd!

I live just round the corner from John Welch's place in Church Crookham. I remember him repairing one of my crash damaged cars about 35 years ago, when he was driving those rallycross cars. I couldn't believe him when he told me how fast they accelerated - faster than an f1 car at the time I think?
@@chrisw9854 yes, I think that to 100 they were faster, but of course then the F1 got away...and downforce meant much faster in the corners!

The Citroen Xsara WRC had a linked hydraulic roll control system that sounds very similar. Was a dominant car, particularly when driven by Loeb.

Fantastic video, as always. Proper journey/test, awesome roads, spirited driving combined with the welcome, but honest, laid-back commentary. I love the UK, but having driven most of the roads in this video, France is right up there. You'd have as much fun in a sporty Mini as a McLaren, but as Harry loves his Lancia as much as anything, I suspect he might agree. Keep it up sir.
Few supercars can be called beautiful. This one can. Its a magnificent blend of athleticism, muscularity and elegance without being too flashy. Its no wonder the market cottoned on to the 720s after a few years.
To each their own. Looks odd like most other McLarens.
