Not me. As a child mum made the family liver and onions quite often. 45 years later I have never cooked liver and I know it can become tough easily and I want to give it a go. Mum use to cook it in the oven whole perhaps that is why it was like chewing an old boot sometimes 😂
@@scotthoward4836the secret to cooking very tender cows liver is first remove the very thin whitish film that you get on the liver, season or very well. Cook your onions tomatoes then add the liver for very few minutes and it's done... Liver as my mother taught us should never be cooked for more than 10 mins or else it will become chewy
Thank you for the fast, simple and short recipe. I had to substitute paprika for cayenne but my liver and onions came out great! I've been trying to add more organ meats to my diet and this will be a regular.
Nice recipe for beef liver, however I would add a crushed garlic and a dollop of unsalted butter right before I take it off the stove. The result will be irresistibly delicious. 😀👍❤
I'm glad that you pointed out that you did wash the liver before cooking it. I love grilled liver, but most chefs don't know to wash it before they cook it, so it comes out bitter.
I never ate liver when my Grandma would cook it, I still don’t! However, my Jamaican fiancé asked me to cook him some and I followed your recipe (only one that doesn’t use flour and gravy) and he LOVED IT! Thanks for helping
I tried it your way and I must admit that that's the only way I plan on cooking it for now on. It was delicious. I hate onions and I ate it all. My mama says it's the best she has tasted so far. Thank you!!!
I always thought liver had to be floured. I only attempted to cook it one time and wasn’t successfully. Your method is simple and I think I can do it! I’m trying it tonight. As a child, we always had biscuits and syrup added. Thanks!
I am 33 and the show Doug on Nickelodeon must have had a profound impact because I have not given this a try until now and WOW! My new favorite healthy meal, thank you.
I swear Doug was the reason I wanted to try it as a kid!!! And I thought it was just me!!! Just bought some chicken liver last nignt and I'm gonna have me a time!
I remember eating this as a kid on the farm. Liver and onions and mashed potatoes! Haven't had it since but because of the nutritional value, I'm gonna try your delicious recipe but may pass on the mashed. Thank You!!
@@feralgoat3771 Dunno if u figured it out yet, but the onions will completely change the taste. Not that liver tastes anyth really. I haven’t eaten liver since my childhood days. My parents had that special touch of making tender liver. Perhaps I’ll try to make it after the holidays. Thanks for sharing, Mama Boi 😋
Sweet, I bought a cow liver, having never cooked or eaten one before. Looks much easier to prepare than I thought it would be. Looks delicious!! Thank you Mama Boi ☺️🤙
Thank you for this! I was recommended eating this due to low energy levels and am about to try it my first time. Wasn't thinking I would enjoy it, but this video actually made me looking forward to it! Hope I don't mess up the recipe too badly!!

Imma heading into the kitchen to whip this up now..Never added cayenne pepper before, so this should be interesting..loves me some liver and onions over rice and beer. holla
My Mom used to make liver and onions that looked like that. I am going to try to make some. I think I will try adding some Worcestershire. I think my Mom might have used that too.
I loovveeee me some liver & onions with rice and gravy.. i always flour mines because I thought it had to be… I make it all the time.. I think I’m gonna try it with mashed potatoes this time and try it your way.
Yea with mashed potatoes is the only way I like it, and I have liver often and I also thought you had to always fix it with flour thanks momma for this post
Quick Question, FIRST I Wanna say thank you 😊. AND I WAS JUST STROLLING TO SEE HOW 🤔 LIVER IS COOKED? AND 👀 I HAVE APPRECIATED YOUR VIDEO. LOVE YOUR DETAILS. 💛
I usually cut the liver in strips no more than finger thick( pinky size doesn't matter what size your hands are ) for even cooking.Cut while semi frozen. Also I remove the outer membrane (thin layer of plastic looking stuff) It can become chewy if over cooked..Plus NEVER cook untill done always turn the stove off before and let it rest.. the residual heat will cook it to perfection.. TENDER never chewy.. plenty garlic. . Btw I'm eating a bowl rite now with .50 cent noodles 😁👍..
Depends on the heat in the skillet. I cook mine for a few minutes or until it is barely past pink in the middle. Also - most processors don't take the thin membrane off the outside of the liver before slicing - doing so after it's sliced is a lil bit of a pain but worth the effort. Also using bacon grease instead of olive oil 😍😍 !!!!!!

I like the butter idea, but not the garlic.
U add butter while the liver is cooking
