MUSIC: Epidemic Sound
I just want you to know that these episodes mean so much to me. I’m originally from New York and it is without a doubt where I belong. But I live far away, in Salt Lake City, a lovely place but I never forget that I’m not from here. Over time I’ve had the opportunity to experience deep and restorative solitude and I’ve come to appreciate mainly my own company. Sadly though, I’ve lost that feeling... like a spark of possibility when you leave the house, not knowing who you might meet or how they might inspire you. To be honest, it just never happens, and while I’m plenty inspired (and overwhelmed!) by my endless interests, other regular creative people never come into the equation and that ennui is ugly. Every episode of this series reminds me of the pulse of my true home and that I might feel it again one day. I know there must be people here I could connect to (I’m certainly not of the opinion only New Yorkers are inspiring or authentic- I am just out of sync here) but it’s hard to start from square one and I’ve stopped trying, as introverted as I am. Every person shown on this episode seemed to have such a genuine, meaningful, curious, playful approach to getting dressed and I just eat it up!
Well, you've got at least one fellow Salt Laker who's also obsessed with these videos 😊
WOW. Just how I feel about London. I am not originally from there but spent 11 years in that beautiful city. My heart is there and whenever I see London vlogs I have to cry.
@@glitzrescue I cry after watching this because I miss New York so much. The only place in the world where I feel 100% free and inspired.
Time for a road trip to NYC. You drive or take a train AMTRAK or Greyhound bus.

"Everything is so old. I had it for a long time, maybe more than a year"
Meanwhile, here I am wearing clothes I've had since I was 12 lol
Ta t a 5 s5555
Lmao same, I would have said "YES IT'S NEW I GOT IT LAST YEAR"
Lol yes I was about to comment the same! I was not expecting that response from New Yorkers because thrifting is such a hype.
lol ikr, new is < 5yrs
Same here.
Imagine more youtubers all around the world would start a series like this and we could see all the different kind of styles of people around the globe.. that would be so cool
The Unknown Vlogs has a similar series in London!
Karen is so GOOD with how she approached and interviews each person. It is a nice skill.
@@isabelsophie1952 the thing I don’t like about his vlogs and honestly I do like them, is that the follow through is lacking. Sometimes you get details, most times you don’t. He doesn’t really ask the questions we’d want answered and his approach is sometimes a little off which is why I suspect he doesn’t get the mixed bag of people to talk to him the way Karen does. I dunno maybe I’m too picky
Watch sta nosi beograd, its like this but from Serbia, two girls do it, inspired with Karen, and its really good!
Not So Blonde is a youtuber from Paris that has a similar series like Karen. So brush up on your french because some of her vlogs don't have subtitles. My favorites are the thrift store trips, no subtitles, but I keep watching them on replay because of the awesome finds.
New York is full of artists/creatives and it's good to see that they are able to express themselves without being judged.
So true. New Yorker here who recently took a road trip down south. I’d say we like to be a little fun with our fashion sense. I felt like me and my fiancé definitely were getting looks in the rural areas between major cities. Also, a few people mistook him as a woman which has never happened in NY! 😆 it was kind of a culture shock, I guess.
yup this is why i love living here :)
@@Problematiqu3 Where I am in the south, it’s like nobody has a sense of style. Especially in my somewhat smaller town. It’s either everyone is wearing PJs in public, hoodies and skinny jeans, basic tees and skinny jeans, or flannels and skinny jeans. That’s it. And here I am with my early 2000s aesthetic like Lizzie McGuire, Cheetah Girls, Paris Hilton, Bratz girls and 2000a punk rock girls lol and everyone is staring at me like I’m crazy or something. It’s hard especially with me having social anxiety but I’m not gonna let some people with absolutely no sense of fashion stop me from being myself because life is too short for that. I both love and hate standing out at the same time.
And you have just judged them.......... 10 out of 10 for intelligence
Lies lol you’ll get judged
everyone in this video (and these videos) is living life through their own reality and I FUX w that
I love seeing you here 🥺🖤
Oh damon! Comment va tu mon chère ?
Omg, i see you in almost every vid i watch haha
💣🔥🔥... Agreed!!
I swear every video i watch has a comment by u lol
I love that we have the same recommended (love your vids too)
“ I check the weather, I check the vibes” that’s exactly how I get dressed. Thx for giving me the words!
Everyone is loving that comment he gave! He said some really great things : )
You can tell his intention was to be genuine in his responses.
Dittooooo!
Love it!!

'I check the weather and I check the vibes, that's how I know what to wear' yes!

when he said that ? what minute? sorry dont speak good english
I love how all these people aren’t keeping up with the trends and just being their own unapologetic selves. Very beautiful to see.
ikr! i inspire to be like them
And they say New Yorkers aren’t friendly? These people were all so nice and love everyone style 💚
New Yorkers are kind-hearted, but not outwardly nice, or sweet. A totally, standoffish Greek man from Queens will literally go out of his way to give you the best MTA route home. That's NY. Gotta love it.
Yup. I'm Canadian, and we invented nice. When I lived in NYC I found people so kind. Twice I had someone pick up my dropped Metrocard and run after me to return it. A woman helped carry my groceries down the subway stairs when I was overloaded, and another woman helped me carry some heavy bags a long block when I was trying & failing to flag a cab. Another woman bit my head off when I accidentally cut the line at Fairway, and when I backed up apologizing, she said "oh that's OK." I love New Yorkers.
these comments are true and is making me regret leaving my city :( perhaps one day NY. One day.
umm I beg to differ. These people seem to be more well to do. The neighborhood my grandma lives in have a lot of poorer people, and they are rude as fuck. I guess it just depends on where you go.
As a native New Yorker, the rude are mostly in the hood. The subway too.
people always compliment your outfit in each episode, but we never get to see it. show us your outfit too!! :)
Yea we need to see you Karen
Right!?!
Yes please!
this is so refreshing! in a world full of LA street/kardashian-jenner-ish style, seeing NYers in their own style is so refreshing.
So this means that all of this stuff will be popular in my Missouri hometown in approximately 8-10 business years
😂
Lol same with the small town I live in. I love watching these videos.
Right!!!! I live in Springfield lol
omg same in my thord world country too 😂
I will NEVER see people dress like this in my town 🤣 So I volunteer as tribute lol. I stand out but people always compliment me so it’s okay 🤷🏻♀️😅
Listening to these New Yorkers so eloquently describe their clothing, and with such detail is like taking a class at F.I.T.
Yep!…right
every human beeing waering a dress with pockets has to mention the fact that it has pocket!s
I love pockets and when I find a dress with pockets, feels like I have won the lotto.
@@viod8650 YES girl me too!!
It's a NYC thing...leave for hours on end and need places for STUFF!!
Lols it’s true
Me, a while back when my new summer dress arrived that I had ordered online: "Oooh, it's got pockets!" ... just like Karen in her silver sequin dress a while ago. Pockets in dresses are sooo important!
I love to see people doing their own thing and expressing their personalities with clothes. Far better than seeing everyone looking like clones.
LoL 😂
Yes definitely I agree😁
Here I am in a somewhat smaller town in the south is a whole fashion disaster. Everyone is either pjs in public, a worn out looking hoodie with skinny jeans, a basic tee and skinny jeans or a flannel and skinny jeans. I feel like the only one here who even tries to stand out and have a sense of personal style and aesthetic and it’s hard if you have social anxiety like me and everyone just wants to stare at you in disgust for dressing different and “out there”. Like I’m sorry I have the audacity to be stylish and cool lol
@@aestaeticedits7998 . Kind of makes you feel as if your slip is showing.....I get it. Keep doing what makes you comfortable. That is how new trends and styles happen.
I strongly disagree with you. I think it's far better to look like a clone, rather than a clown. Clothes do not express personality at all, your behaviour does. The people with the best styles are always the most fake ones. You guys are just following trends.
Love the man in Primark and Forever 21: just confirmation you don’t need to drop a fortune or get lucky thrifting to look fab!
Its all about how you carry yourself, not the price
Forever 21 is expensive
@@areolagrandespoop7269 I’d say it’s pretty affordable compared to some other ‘fast fashion’ clothing stores
Agree, he has such good tastes and eyes for colors and styles!
@@areolagrandespoop7269 yes depending on where you're from, in the usa it's a bit cheaper than in latin american countries for example, but since it's new clothing it really can't be sold that cheap
What I love about New Yorkers is they know how to style themselves. Not just what's "in style" but what actually looks good on them as well.. That coat reminds me of the technicolor coat!
Yes 🥰
colors and fits that make them look good and look BETTER instead of just fast fashion for generic bodies in basic colors :))
The best part of these is that so many people wear all kinds of things that suit them and not just what's "in", its a wonderful array of ideas and characters.
i am obsessed with this series😭 how is everyone in NY SO COOL😭😭
Its one of the fashion capitals of the world many people work in fashion go to school for fashion and that kind of permeates through the city and rubs off on everyone else
So many who were the ‘weird’ artsy outcast kid growing up move to NYC. It’s amazing & inspiring to be surrounded by so many creative, ambitious, talented & intelligent people from all over the world. Nothing like it 👍
“I’m always dripping in my own jewelry” what a FLEX
here for it
"I've had everything a long time. Maybe more than a year."..... I'm dead.
I've had condiments in my fridge for longer!
I just passed on to my 20 year old daughter a Reebok sweatshirt that I bought 34 years ago and it's still in great condition. She asked me if she could have it and she loves wearing my "vintage" clothing LOL. She had a friend want to buy it off her.
@@jmk1962 well "vintage " comes from "vent Age" = 20 years. So everything from 20 or more years ago Is 100% vintage
@@jmk1962 my dad got really offended when his granddaughter described her vintage patagonia fleece. I said dad Patagonia was founded almost 50 years ago!!! 😂😂😂
@@mariap2200 Then "je suis quatre vintage et plus"!!!! Happy
Those Vivienne Westwood pants actually worked well with the patchwork shirt , the Carhartt jacket and that dyed laundry bag....just WOWEE!!!
it was such a look.
I adore watching people gush about their dresses having pockets🙌
I loved the Guy with two men's shirts . It's lovely. NY a place where no one will judge you for your style.
You know what the problem is with this video?!?! I didn’t want it to end!!! Every single person had something to say with their style and I loved every minute of it. Best episode yet!!!
I love seeing my city coming alive again and it brings joy to my heart. Karen you should get an Academy Award for this series. You'd kill on a red carpet!
I agree....Karin for Culture Mistress!!!
I want this to be my next Netflix binge! Sign the contract Karen :)
Yes! I live in South Florida, but I’m a former New Yorker-I left when i was a child. It just breaks my heart to see all the NY car tags driving around here. Not because I don’t want New Yorkers here, because it makes me wonder about what has happened to my beloved NYC! However, this lets me know that the city is on an upswing. I will be visiting soon!
You know I didn’t understand The hype with fashion before but if you have good style it just says you know yourself and it’s a great extension of your personality
The two shirts tied together is killer. The people in New York are so fascinating.
I wish this series could have a 100 seasons and something we could just consume everyday. It's like an escape from the everyday monotony. Thank you soooo much for doing this Karen. You're inspiring thousands of people around the world thanks to the work you're putting in
I think I need to recreate those two shirts buttoned together. What a genius
Karen did her own version on Insta and it looks amazing!!!!🔥
I absolutely love it. I WILL be wearing it in different variations.
me too...VERY CREATIVE.
That was brilliant!
Yes it’s an amazing and cool look. I’m going to try it also.
The two shirts buttoned together is genius!
I'm in awe when people say something like "oh I had it for a long time, maybe more than a year" 👀
Not that long ago the normal thing was having something for years...
Me too!
for the younger people especially wearing designer you usually resell your stuff to buy stuff more “current”
The Louis Vuitton jacket is stunning. And the young man with the two shirts!! So fun.
New York Film School Karen ! You out did yourself with that intro 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
is it weird that I cried because everyone is so nice? :'|
It depends on the person; NYC is basically a hotpot of everything lol
I cried so hard... when I heard you cried....
The boy weari g commes de Garcon and the black girl wearing that brown and whote coat were both so sweet. Everyone was in such a good mood.
New york is coming back. the world is coming back. And im beyond excited for it.
Yes it is and I’m so excited!
yessss!!!!
The two shirts buttoned together...GENIUS! I'm going to have to recreate that look, it's fabulous.
So is he those legs
@@hunnyblush RIGHT! I know!
The button down shirt dress did it for me! That was everything!!!! It's people like that with so much style, creativity and that makes fashion fun. A++++++++
I swear New Yorkers wouldn't say an item is new unless they were caught walking out of the store with it. X-D
This series is the best thing on the internet.
When they tell Karen “I love your outfit too!” I want Karen to show us her outfit too.
The artistry. The creativity. The resourcefulness.
I love the double shirt guy. That’s beautiful and creative and not expensive designer.
I'm going to try the 2 shirt theme in my charity shop window tomorrow
Literally same
Everyone is doing 2 theme here in Italy ! From jackets to shirts and pants
All the outfits in this video were great! When you think you've seen it all, NY hits it out of the park. 👏

That man’s jacket with the metallic collar...I’m going to be thinking about it for a long long time. What a stunning piece!
I love how you interact with people, it’s just such warm and positive vibes
NYC is so full of unique, creative and interesting people. I miss it so much.
Always love there episodes! Being an artist it makes me so happy to see others artfully expressing their uniqueness through their wear. And ...no one can deliver it all so gracefully, compassionately and artfully as KarenBritchic.
Well said!
I simply love this series. I wanna be brave enough to walk around my city & talk to people about their clothes. New Yorkers make me think that everyone there is fashionably creative & rich lol
i love how everybody in new york city seems to create their own trend and own vibes, rather than follow the general trend. it’s honestly fantastic!

I fall in love with the city all over again every time I watch your series. It's a reminder that while the architecture, creativity, and scene is beyond, it is the people that enchant me.
I love the colourful clothes the men in these videos are wearing, I don’t see enough of that where I live and it’s so refreshing to see.
I’m truly obsessed with this series 💞 nyc street wear is like a runaway to me. I love the fact that people aren’t afraid to express their fashion choices. One of the reason I love visiting nyc.
NYC is just a whole other level! loving the freedom and the creativity of how people dress!!!
SO MANY BEAUTIFUL HUMANS!!!! it makes me want to dress up and go outside more! so inspiring!

Watching these videos is like having a decadent meal
There’s magic here
Please don't stop these videos. I live in the southern Midwest and love fashion. Now that I am retired, I don't have to dress corporate and feel so free! I have always thrifted and mixed styles but very few people here do. They don't know the history of their clothes except maybe Wal-Mart. Your videos inspire me to keep my individual style even when few understand it here. These videos lifted my spirits during covid. Keep on going Karen. I love you 😍. Hugs, Donna ps There is nothing wrong with Walmart but not all Walmart all the time plus thrifted clothes are good for the environment and the soul. You never know what that piece has seen.🥸
