    Im noticing a fair bit of negitive comments on here. I for one feel that the overall quality of these videos are much stronger reguardless. The fact that Chris here is spending his time and money on creating something for the entertainment of others is one thing but you can tell when comes from the heart. Not just anybody can, or is willing to do even just that. Not to mention how difficult it is to stitch multiple camera footage (among other things) together. He has overcome a lot in reguards to film production, AND personal growth that got him to where he is. If there is something you feel needs your opinion, at the very least why not articulate it in a way that is constructive to his production.. After all you are here to watch arent you? We do this for you all so lets help eachother grow.✌

      They are not negative comments Pauly, but constructive feedback to what is already a top quality production. Maybe you should re-read your own comment, and re-read the other comments. They are FULL of praise as well! At the end of the day, creators do it for their OWN creative satisfaction.

      @@stujd1539 I definatly read a couple times and wasnt originally going to post at all but since my comment, I noticed a few rude messages that now have been deleted. Ive also noticed the constructive ones too for sure but what got my attention was for the few that seem to criticize poorly on almost every video from Chris - I wouldnt say something if I didn't understand. We do create videos for our satisfaction yes but it definatly goes both ways. ❤

      Well said Pauly well said.
      I myself have just started to edit my videos and it takes a lot of time and effort. Between you Sean and Chris I can only wish to be able to do what you lads do. I watch religiously even my girlfriend and kids are starting to watch with me. We all enjoy your work Chris the only thing I'm disappointed in is you don't make as many videos anymore for me to watch hahaha.

    Thanks to Chris and all these videos, I've learnt so much about where to pan and how to find gold. To those detractors - you do better or shut up and if you can't make a decent comment, then don't. No one asks you to watch these videos, if you can't get something out of these videos then don't watch them....simple! Thanks Chris, you have made a very much novice into just a plain novice. I can't wait to get to Victoria and do some sluicing and panning as well as week of detecting in the fields.

    In just the split second that we saw Michael pan I saw why he ended up with just a few chunky bits and why you got .38 with a mix of super fine to small pickers. Reason is because he pans too steeply with too much water washing over and he probably washes 75% of the gold right back into the river! Do your mate a favor and tell him! He will greatly appreciate the results! Great video and very well edited!!

      Interesting thing to note about color is that blue and yellow are complementary opposites, meaning they stand out from each other in the color spectrum.
      Green and yellow are actually in the same category and they blend in together.

ROYGBIV...You really need to stay awake during that class and share you notes with us.....especially when you get into the figure drawings...😂🤣😂💖Elkslayer & Elmo

    Improvements take time. I spent 3 years at film school and I know editing is a pain at the best of times (Try editing and splicing film, that shit is very difficult and time consuming!!), but, I don't bother with grade A production values when I make videos, I just make them and post them for myself to view later.

      There is a Norwegian drone called Staaker. It is programmable to how you want it to follow you, height and length and start and land in the same place if you want. And it automatically takes "around flights" if you want.You only need to start it with the receiver you bring in the car, ski or bike, and it will follow you constantly at the height you program it.

    Hey Chris, your videos are now pushing expert/professional quality, but you need to heed the advice of others below and address the audio inconsistencies. Maybe it's time to ditch the gopro and get a more capable video camera (4K?). Of course you would still use the gopro for underwater shots and for B roll footage and of course, most importantly, it all depends on how much disposable polymer 💲 you have. In my opinion you are in the top three prospecting videos ON THE PLANET! Keep up the good work.

    • @VoGusProspecting
      @VoGusProspecting  6 років тому +3

      I do heed all the advice I get, but there is another side to this.
      To film and edit in 4k I need a better computer and bigger memory cards (I took 61gb of film in 1080@60 for this one). That's way more $$ than I have to spend. the GoPro is capable of 4k@60 but its impossible to edit with my current computer.
      I've got a full volg set up DSLR, but its not water proof. And that's the thing 99% of my footage is taken in mud, water and bad weather. Even if the camera is not in the water my hands are filthy and my pack is an absolute mess of dirt and grime. The GoPro can handle all that but the DSLR can't.
      Audio was frustrating on this one, so much noise hit that mic. And I forgot to balance some of it. I can't use a lapell mic because of water reasons again, I just have to keep trying to edit it all.
      In the end I feel my editing has come a long way and I'm bound to have mistakes along the way. If I had the budget I'd hire someone to do bits for me and upgrade my gear.
      However, in reality this is a hobby for me. Its fun, nothing more and nothing less.

      I hear you. Never the less, you're doing a bloody good job with the resources you have. Far better quality and editing than most on UA-cam these days. You don't need an editor, you have that down pat. You may want to download NCH's WavePad Sound Editor. It's totally free, very powerful and straight forward to use (they also have a video editor but your software is doing the job). Also, think about a graphics card for the PC, if you don't already have one.

      I think the camera is fine.
      Like you said there aren't many cheap cameras that would handle what you throw at it.
      Also you have to carry it all.

      The thing that sparked this discussion was the other comments about the audio. I didn't notice any marked difference as mentioned by others. What I did notice was the "scratchy" noise every time Chris grabbed the camera, and the lag in the audio levels coming back to normal after the camera was handled. In retrospect, yes the camera is fine for video. A simple solution for the audio level variance is to keep it in mind when recording and allow a second or two either side of moving the camera so that the "scratchy" (tech term) can be edited out. Feedback is the mother of improvement! BTW Chris, what was your idea?

    Hey Chris, good video love your new style of filming, do you think the gold is still coming down the creeks when they flow or flood.

  • @RichardRoger1966
    @RichardRoger1966 6 років тому +1

    See, if you look at the first clips of you using the yabbi pump, you can watch the water and potentially the gold falling out of the pump. I know you said you work towards the pan - trying not to lose any gold, but I cannot help but think gold is escaping. Around the 2:50 mark, you can see the water and potential gold falling out. Gold falling at such a rapid rate in water, makes me think gold escapes.

    • @RichardRoger1966

      More easily seen at the 5:03 mark.

    • @VoGusProspecting
      @VoGusProspecting  6 років тому +1

      That's why we go over it several times. Like I said first I work towards the pan, then when I've got most of the dirt out and its just bedrock I use a brush to sweep it all into a pile as close to the pan as possible then suck the pile up.
      What you have to remember is the multiple times I've shown that a shovel will never pick up as much as a yabbie pump. They dont lose gold easily as I've found a 4grammer using one, if it can lift that then it can lift anything smaller.

    With the pan grader to remove the larger pieces of matter would it be possible to add other mesh gauge pans into a form of sorting stack so you would have different grades of panning material in each section ?

      Yes, but you have to be carful not to screen too small so you dont lose the chunks.

    Great as always, and i love the music, but could you have the volume a tad lower on the music when you are not talking. I have to turn the volume to max to hear and understand when you talk, but when you stop talking the music is way loud.
    Still, great as always, and give grizzly an ear scritch for me. :)

    Just a bit of info I past on to a couple others on YT: I had prob's with my phone a few years ago. People couldn't hear me and the sound from my end was garbled. Then a friend said it sounded like I was underwater. "DING DING"!!! Turns out there was a tiny bit of water in the microphone hole of my phone. I get surface tension was keeping it stuck there. Spit, rain drop, who knows. As soon as I started minding it, no more problems. Passed it on to a YT'er when his audio got funky. He was just about to buy a new camera. Thankfully, it was indeed water in the mic.
    Anywho....... maybe something to check regularly. Maybe keep a tissue or some q-tips in a plastic bag. Dab the mic holes regularly. Or even just a blow out. Especially if transitioning between an under water shot and out. Hope this is helpfully for anyone.

    Chris- I love your channel, but PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE even out your audio levels. At the beginning of this video it was horrible, in fact, the worst yet. The extremely high sound level surge actually caused the output protection to blow the fuses in my amp and blew out one speaker. :(
    You can get software to control the audio levels , or monitor your input levels on the music/fx.
    This is meant as helpful criticism.

    Did you ever think about putting a set of saddle bags on Grizzly and letting him help pack some of your things in and out. I bet he could handle 10 to 15 pounds of stuff for you....
    Back when I was a young man such as yourself I worked physically hard jobs. Because that was how I was raised, that at the end of your work day you back and legs better be hurting or you didn't work hard enough...
    Well then the 1970's came and people were learning to work smarter not harder. But now that I'm in my golden years I realize that my working hard 9 to 12 hours a day 6 days a week when I was young was the dumbest thing I could have ever done to my body... I had to retire at the age of 51 because my body was shot physically. Thank God I had a job that I had worked at for 32 years and I could retire with full benefits...
    So it's ok to work hard but only do it a few hours a day and only a few days a week. Your body will thank you when you are 70... Be blessed... BBE..
