When nurses start criticizing patients, I tune out the rest of their complaints. If you are complaining about patients, it's definitely time to leave. The patient doesn't need this attitude in their hour of need. Also, sounds like nurses should unionize.
@@vickygdillon the only unions in nursing is in California.. well there are others but the California union is the strongest.. but not all over. a lot of hospitals will fire nurses for even talking about unionizing.
@@vickygdillon I'm a Canadian nurse. Well not anymore I quit after 2 and a half years. We are uber-unionized. It is very hard to find a nursing job in Canada that isn't a union job. We are still treated like crap. Patients are incredibly abusive, not most of course, but one is enough to ruin your day. I'm not sure how you think being physically hit or being told to F*** off is a patient just being in need? Calling various staff names ie) fat, ugly, pig, bimbo etc? The health authority puts up signs saying they will not tolerate abuse towards staff but there is no teeth behind it. You can't refuse to treat a patient or discharge a patient because they have been abusive. The nurse bullying nurse abuse is also very real but there is only so much a manager can do. Nurses are smart enough to make it subtle so it isn't like the manager can be forced to reassign a nurse.
I graduated in 1993, my parents graduated in 1970’s. BULLYING of nurses on other nurses has been a serious problem for decades! My dad is a really good looking guy, the nurses loved him and he was an administrator within a couple years! My mom, oh unreal. The other nurses harassed her seriously but those coworkers didn’t know they were up against the QUEEN OF BULLIES. So that didn’t last long!
Each day in nursing for me feels like taking a shower in cold water, you know it’s about to suck, you mentally prepare yourself for the suck, you take a deep breath and just do what you have to do as fast as you can and get out as quickly as you can.
Been an RN for over ten years and am beyond discouraged, discussed with this job. I have known two nurses that have committed suicide since becoming an RN. The stress, anxiety is so pervasive it’s terrifying. When you see nurses curled up in the hallway sobbing because they are responsible for 18 - 40 patient at one time and corporate as well as management turns a blind eye because it’s profitable. What’s even more terrifying is the deliberate falsification of medical records, changing orders to save money directly contradicting Dr orders. Mandating nurses to work 24 hour shifts under threats of managers to report for abandonment if they refuse. The only way is to call for a nationwide walkout of EVERY NURSE ! However, nurses are weak and have NO backbone to stand up for themselves. Management uses the concern and compassion for the patients as a weapon to bludgeon nurses into submission !!
omg this is awful, i did not even realize it was this bad in some places. I am 100% in agreement that we need a nationwide walkout, its the only way to change the system. it is so awful.
Peer Reviewed Studies show Nursing is a huge risk in suicide rates-look it up, I had to do a paper and everyone in class was shocked. Also 77% of all workplace violence is in HEALTHCARE! Not schools, Not police stations, Post Office-HEALTHCARE! And….no one cares.
I went into nursing because I love working with people and am very interested in the healthcare field. It has been the worst career decision I have made in my life! I'm out!!
I moved to Mexico three years ago and I've lost 20 lbs. A visit back to my doctor in California, and my doctor said it's common to lose weight when you move to other countries because they don't have the processed foods that we have in the U.S.
A lot of food ingredients we use in the US are banged in Europe and Asia, so do shampoos, etc. I'm not originally from the US, every time I travel back or away I lose weight, then gain back after I come back to the US. I'm a healthy and active person btw. p.s. I'm an ICU nurse too, I'm working per diem now, on the defense to leave completely... More of a wake up call lately after I wasn't feeling well and called out one day, they didn't say feel better, instead, they ask you if you can work more.😢 The hospitals and management don't care, you are just a number.
Nursing, particularly bedside nursing is for people who don’t value themselves. With all the toxic co workers managers and patients. You literally have to fight to keep your self esteem intact. It’s sad!!!!
Not true in all cases. ICU nurses literally save the lives of others. I left nursing, I would never recommend it as a career to anyone now as medicine is just a money making machine & Nurses are treated like disgracefully. Home health care is one of the best gigs for a nurse. 1/2 hour visit to checkout how a patient is doing. Minimum hands on care. If you want to work in medical, become a physical therapist, that’s the profession I’d choose if I could have a do over.
I’ve worked in long term care since 2010. I’m fed up with the short staffing issues. Feeding dementia patients loads of sugar and watching them roam hallways is too much for my mental health to take any longer. It’s so frustrating and sad. Thank you for helping me feel validated.
Same here. I quit after 30 years, when I was threatened with termination for refusing the Jab. I retired instead about 1.5 years ago and let my license expire. I work part time in a non healthcare setting. I only make about 20% of what I use to, but am much happier now.
After years of doing private duty I accepted a position at a prestigious hospital in Beverly Hills. Can I just tell you I didnt realize how much health care has declined. After only 4 months I resigned. Im going to embark on a journey of opening my own private group home. I think the idea you have of a more naturopathic approach is exactly what is more healthy. Also personalized care via keeping people at home like you said is much more effective.
Was it Cedars? I worked there for 8 years,it is really a shit hole!! Yes I think you are on the right path, it is the way of the future personalized natropathic care!
I too am a nurse who is beyond frustrated with the medical system. I used to be proud of my career now I often am shaking my head. Working in a small town rural ER and I’m still looking forward to when I can walk away. And yes we definitely don’t utilize ‘holistic’ medicine enough along with simply taking care of ourselves. Good luck to you.
@@SaraBurdick Its not terrible & I am fortunate enough to work with amazing physicians. The politics of medicine have changed not for the better though. Husband & I are building off grid, green house & all, debt free & hopefully I can slow down soon & look into doing some type of nursing from home.
As an RN for over ten years I agree. I am not proud of my occupation because it is a fallacy! I my previous career as a machinist, toolmaker I was proud of my occupation because I was capable of applying the attention to detail needed to produce perfect outcomes every time. In nursing it’s about production and completing a task quickly because you have NO choice or, you are overwhelmed to the point of insanity !
I made nursing my side hustle. Working in the hospital is an ordeal shift after shift. It is a profession that is both incredibly intense and infantanizing. Everything from the insane charting, the horrid treatment from other nurses, the lack of assistance fron nurising techs, the short staffing, the unsociable hours, the constant threats of "write-ups," the list goe on an on Forget grad school to be a NP - healthcare is broken. I changed my primary career and am now a very happy librarian.
We all going to be in the hospital as patients one day. I worked as a nurse 45yrs .It's not easy but I enjoyed my nursing career .I agree with management does not give benefit that they deserve. For female nurses no maternity leave, is no sick leave. According to our hard work, no one appreciates it Sometimes no real lunch break..
yea its so sad what is happening. I remember years of no real lunch breaks, at what the public knew as ¨elite hospitals¨ amazing you had a great 45 year career!
Tell it like it is Sara!! The algo will probably let it run for a few but it will cut you off for telling the truth. I’m more convinced than ever not to go to the hospital. I rather take my chances with natural remedies. Apple cider vinegar every few days and some exercise. I love this rebel video!!
Hahaha.. oh I have a few more coming..🤣 but yea anyone who is against the narrative is not en vogue!! Yep same I tell my family never take me to the hospital no matter what.. if my time is up it's up!
@@victoriatongun1775 ooooh i actually want to get more into herbology! I could start including holistic health.. since i studied it! what topics would you like to see on it?
WOW Sara!!! Hands down THE BEST & IMPORTANT VIDEO YOU'VE MADE!! 100% agree - allopathic medicine and the u.s healthcare system is all about using the patient as a cash cow. Also agree that food manufacturers = pharmaceutical companies. I truly believe that us Americans have to let go and trust ourselves again. The human body is truly amazing and when you listen to it and know that most of what we need is all around us as well as already within us (free or super cheap), we can start to heal. Oh Sara, I cried listening to this video because this is exactly how I feel!!
Admin loves foreign nurses. They get to pay them a lower wage and they the nurses will not complain about the crappy conditions because they don't want to lose their work visas.
Thank you so much! I am on your side. I've been an LPN for 15 years, why am I broke and literally a hot mess? Because your right the system is totally broke! I wish I knew what to do. Thank you
I am so proud of you for speaking up on the horrors of what healthcare and horrific quality of food has become in the US!! I share your same frustrations and thoughts about the corrupt broken healthcare system. I am a mental health counselor wanting to exit the field as well due to the horrible treatment of clinicians, burnout, profit greed over patient care, forcing flu shots/vaccine, and big pharma drugging patients instead of a hollistic preventive care wellness model. The money is in keeping Americans sick and fed horrible food full of chemicals and sugar.
its always about the money and never about the ones who actually need help. I think many are realizing it now, but i think one way to change it to keep speaking up about it!
You remind me of me!!!! I tell everyone we live in a sickcare model and people don’t want to be healthy! They want a pill or a shot and don’t want to put in the work! I don’t know what to do as a nurse anymore. I left in July and have just been trying to figure it out because I know my purpose is greater and I can help others in ways outside of the sickcare model!
You aren't alone in your feelings!! The money in this system is in keeping patients sick, dependent, and controlled instead of geared toward wellness, preventative care, and personal responsibility. I am mental health counselor therapist and share your frustrations. People don't want to take responsibility for their health and want to be fixed with medication that ends up masking their issues and causing even more illness from side effects. It's a sick broken and corrupt medical model. It isn't about health at all. Employees and patients are only there for profit in this greedy business. It's unfortunate for those of us who are truly healers to be a part of this.
@@SaraBurdick 19 years and I’ve worked in dialysis, med/surg, psych, CM/UR and public health. I really think the last 3 years just brought so much truth and reality in to this profession! Now I’m hearing more and more about patients abusing nurses in the hospital (I only had a patient or two try to get rude and I shut that down quick!!) and the increase in short staffing and nurses doing more with less. We have one of the most VERSATILE professions and we are treated like 💩 by so many employers! And I’m exhausted for applying bandaids to people that would rather stay sick because they are too lazy to put in the work and take accountability for their health. Okay rant over 😆
I’m an ER nurse currently and I absolutely hate it with everything in me. Like you said, it’s a broken system that I don’t wanna be a part of. I never in my life had depression and SI until I started this job 1.5yr ago.. I wish I could leave this job before I leave this world..
Yesterday I was looking online and saw a coaching group hiring nurses.. thenursecoaches.com/join-our-team/ I think its part time but maybe it would be good for you.
I liked the nursing part very much but it's all the bullshit in between. Double triple documentation, no dinner, no breaks.Bully doctors, Nurse managers with power issues, and so much more. My place of employment my nurse manager ripped me off with my paycheck for two years. Falsifying my pay ...... She was tired but for different reasons. I was a very loyal employee that was reaching my breaking point, until I fortunately, yes fortunately was diagnosed with cancer. That diagnosis forced me to leave nursing.I would be happier dead than to continue in a field where your not appreciated anymore. It's all about money ! Move the patients in and move them out. It turned into an assembly line. CCH in newark is going down hill..Go get your new employees and pay them less. You will make up for that cost when your in court battling families suing you for negligence. Most young nurses care about the money . How can I tell ? Majority of the time they are on their cell phones ignoring call lights and cutting corners.
When I had Covid I would not Go to the hospital bc I knew I had a better chance of staying alive at home with my family who loves me rather than with staff tired nurses and CNA’s
Hi! I love your honesty. I became a LPN at 17 because my high school was a health profession high school. ( very few of these in the US)I was working in a toxic nursing home. I quit nursing soon after. I recently renewed my license. After years of it collecting dust. I plan to work remote or as a school nurse. I plan to go back to school for something that God put in my heart.
I was a dialysis nurse in the US recently moved to Buenos Aires with my husband he is a physician in Argentina but in Houston he was deported unfairly with nothing wrong done now im working on my BSN at my capstone now hoping to get a remote job but loved moving out of the US and feel renewed not working as an RN
I have been an LVN for 14 years. I did 1 year med surge then left for private duty pediatric home health since leaving med-surg. Started an LVN to RN bridge program this summer and after clinical I am certain I will not be going back to the hospital setting. Honestly I believe I will continue to do pediatric home health because of the flexibility and I enjoy what I do. I agree with a lot of what you are saying.
I have been a nurse for over 20 years. At my core, I still love what I do, but seeing the decline in the care we are able to provide makes me sick. The churning out of completely task oriented nurses who can't think about "all of the pieces" of patient care is dangerous. For example, having an NPO patient receive insulin and then their glucose bottoms out and when asked why the nurse gave it...." it was scehduled". This example was from my personal life when my family member required a rapid response. The" nurse mill"addresses the number of bodies but not the level of care provided. The lowered requirements for NP programs is also hurting our professional because you now have novice nurses becoming NPs which is fine for those who are highly motivated and worked in an area with lots of clinical exposure and high accountability but not those who barely scraped by at the bedside. All of these things are hurting patients. The financial machine of Healthcare is pushing people away from pursuing careers in Healthcare all the while the patients we see are sicker and sicker. Every year, insurance companies are cutting coverage and raising costs for premiums and care.
@SaraBurdick it used to be that nurses had to have 5 years experience or more before becoming an NP now it's barely 2 years for most programs. Some allow enrollment immediately after undergrad, in my masters cohort there were students who graduated with their bsn in April and were in grad school in September. A few had to have a gap year because they didn't have enough clinical experience to start the clinical portion of the program. There are even MSN programs that go from a science based degree(non nursing) straight through MSN. Not knocking those programs but a person must be highly motivated and really seek out learning opportunities and study outside of what is required. This is how we have ended up with a bunch of nursing leaders who are less than effective.
Yeah been rn since 96 and it's pathetic what's being pushed now. Forget it sorry I think lots of bedside are green card or travel nurses because hospitals are cheap and Nationwide, they refuse to have standardized ratios nurse/patient. I loved my job when I started now the recruiters getting a cut, forget it they lie cheat and steal Horrible
Yes, sister! I know this video is from 7 months ago but I quit nursing in 2020. It makes me mad too. I wanted to help people but you can't when you are pushed with 8-9 patients. Patients are now even more sick than what they just are diagnosed with. Patients that should be in an ICU bed on my med surgical floor with equipment that requires a 1:2 ratio not me, who has 8-9 patients. I hear non healthcare people say to me, oh stop complaining it is good money. Money isn't worth the stress or being told inject this in your body or else. Not to mention the shifts are 12 hours but you really should just say 13 hours because it is normal to come early and stay over, mandatory on call and no sick days...crazy. My grandmother was known as a witch doctor. They came up with "witch doctor" because it is mainstream pharma, witch sounds bad. She was Cherokee Indian and unfortunately I didn't learn all that she knew but I'm trying to now. I miss bedside because of the patients. I had many spiritual experiences working night shift.
I agree with you Sara but we also have a terrible government now and it's time for a change in everything. The pharma world is so corrupt and wants to keep patients on medication to make money with no end to it.
Exactly!! We need a change in so much and I think part of the change is talking about it and not letting them keep us in the dark.. and trick us... I'm down a rabbit hole about another disturbing topic now... all started by our wonderful government 😳
I left over the mandates. Once assessment of risks vs benefits is eliminated, informed consent is eliminated, threats coercion and vilification of those who decline a medical decision is now the mode of ‘ care’ I am out! Every person is an individual with their own decision making capacity. You cannot blanket prescribe anything and state it is safe for all! Especially an injection which has had devastating outcomes in previous clinical trials. A medication that was never even assessed for prevention! What a joke! Happy to watch the healthcare system collapse!
Ditto! I left my 30 year ED career in September 2021 when the mandates kicked in. That was the timing, but I would have left anyway. The gas lighting was unreal! Being surrounded by bobble heads while called heros for sitting in empty ERs, followed by either under or over treating patients using dunder-headed protocols, was more than I could take. Too few saw it…the corruption is too all encompassing. Though I felt like I was abandoning my patients, my conscience wouldn’t allow me to stay. You wrote eloquently, and I wholeheartedly agree!
I used to fear the same but they also keep patients sick ie: not promoting healthy lifestyles and there is so much insurance companies can do outside the hospital to promote wellness but they don't .. I no longer fear it.. the big corporations created the problem so people would have this fear
And that fear you speak of is EXACTLY how and why corporate and management get away with blatant and illegal practices! Nurses must do and say F#@k it !! I am not complying!!! They are manipulating your feelings to bludgeon you into submission ! STOP thinking with your feelings and use logic ! Ask yourself, is it safe ??
It's tragic but the system is going to need to collapse and healthcare workers leave mass exodus the field in order to inspire real lasting change. The problem is these greedy hospitals, insurance companies, and big pharma created this by putting profits over the care of patients and employees health and safety. It's a greed model. There is no care in healthcare.
I'm a housekeeper and while we may not deal with the same things nurses and doctors deal with, I'm starting to get burned out of it too. I do like it terms of pay, benefits, management and schedule but I want to move on and try other things.
What do you want to do? You can do anything, but i understand its hard, when i left my job i had good money, and now i have learned to live with less, but i am much happier.

Amen amen and amen!!! I totally agree with you 100% I am an RN trying to figure out my next move. I left for outpatient, didnt like that either, went to the ICU and thats just wrong. I cant. I have no idea where to go.
I know I made a few comments about statements you made that I disagree with, but I agree 100% that people need to be taught how to eat right and healthy food should be made affordable and people need to learn to listen to what their body is telling them. Sleep when tired, exercise when stiff, eat when hungry, stop when full…..you got those things 100% right.
Lol 200k a year? I make 75 before taxes. I'm seriously thinking of leaving, we were sold a lie of making great money, having good insurance, when in reality a plumber makes more, has more flexible hours, doesn't have to work night shift etc. Not to mention all the student debt you accrue with no assistance from the govt to pay it to keep nurses from quitting.

I honestly just want to care for people because i know i am called to..thank you so much gor tge insight and it hurts me that i have to make my decision now because i will be graduating from highschool next year and where i come from all my class mates already made thier decisions its almost like i am just there.
you have plenty of time to decide.. go work at a hospital or volunteer before you make your decision. You could also become a nurse and start your own company, and deliver care as you think is best for the patients!! I think we can change the future of nursing
RN from California just retired 28 years RN. Went to community college program. Very little cost. In beginning very scary. I learned my skills. Ms Anthonia. You will do well. Remember put patient 1st and no faster than safe. Very little management can argue about that. CYA cover your ass. Don’t ever be afraid voice serious issues above your management head. Management also has a boss. Best of luck
Left the hospital in June 2019 and went to homecare. Just visited a friend in the hospital. The nurses knew very little about her plan of care. The hospitals want meds passed, and minimal patient contact. Horrible.
Yes, indeed. I believe in education and treating the whole body, mind and soul. You are so on it. But I want to know what and where were you working for 200k, if you don’t mind. There is a better way! I believe it. Please do a video on other avenues for us nurses. I have already joined your movement in my own life.
I stand in solidarity with you two months ago. I left my nursing position w DAVITA HOME DIALYSIS because I was being persecuted and retaliated against for standing up and requesting what I needed ( staff wise)to give (MY)home dialysis patients ( whom I adore)with the care and the services that they deserve. -we went from two nurses to one nurse with no support staff or actually I always given support staff and then it was taken away from me without even discussing it with me and when I asked for the support staff back, I conveniently started to get written up for odd random items that never led to a write up in the past at that point I wasn’t going to play their game and I bowed out. It wasn’t fair to me. It wasn’t fair to the patients and management that was not medical was even more ridiculous. How can they make medical decisions, and manage medical license individuals when they themselves have no experience. Your experience is in business and healthcare no matter what anyone says should never be a business. That’s our biggest mistake.
Oh that is awful so sorry to hear that happened to you . And completely agree it should not be a business.. it's dealing with people's lives and we should not be monetized in such a manner
Hi, I appreciate you a lot for this video. You said it all. I couldn't have said it better. I can relate to most of what you said. Nursing really socks in the US. I got into nursing to help & make a positive impact in any community I find myself 😌, however, this is not the case, and I'm not happy about it. Have been in Nursing for more than 2 decades, still at bedside ...looking for a way out!
But what other job can I work PRN and travel because you work 3 shifts per week? I want to go into nursing because it seems more meaningful, and I like to talk and help people. Nursing seems right because there are so many options: neuro, hospice, outpatient.. etc? but now I'm so conflicted :///. Someone suggested to me Sonography/Ultrasound tech instead. Someone please I am desperate for advice. I am trying to find a good career. Its so conflicting, some nurses say they love it, some say they hate it. I know I can try being a CNA or PCT or see what I like. HELP PLEASE!!
I wish I did ultrasound... But yes work on a hospital first to see if you like it and see what each specialty does and then make a decision based on that.. talk to them all ask them questions... I worked with a lot of nurses who became CRNAS and love it!!!
I’ve been a medic for 7 years, decided to make a jump for more money. I’ve quickly come to the conclusion that nursing school is NOT that hard- it’s the pure toxicity and bullying from absolutely everyone. I’m grateful to have been old enough and seasoned enough to stick up for myself.
@@SaraBurdick thank you! I wish they would stop being so dramatic about nursing school and making it sound so hard like it’s theoretical physics. I feel like it scares off a lot of potentially good nurses and puts unnecessary pressure. I mean yeah of course it’s challenging and it should be

The best video you have ever done . So powerful and so true and so sad . maybe you need to start a Better Way commune in Colombia .where there is real food .
Can I say that it’s the same for all other professions. Education is worse friends! In all professions the systems are so corrupt! We are now living in a confuse and troubled times.
I don't know where you are, but imo here in Maryland where I work, the patients and their loved ones have it much worse. Patients get imprisoned and aren't allowed to leave. Nurses on the other hand can quit and walk away. The government pays the hospital, while the hospital forces poor care and dismissiveness onto patients and their loved ones.
Respiratory therapists are also leaving the hospitals and the profession in droves. Chronic understaffing and unsafe patient loads that never get resolved.
You have the same problems in teaching. That's why there's a shortage of teachers. Parents have removed their kids from public schools because they don't want the government mandating craziness.
Why don’t you use your RN (or LPN - not sure which applies as both as nurses) for a functional medicine or IV clinic? Usually patients there are more responsible for their health and want more than a what pills are available.
I am an RN and yes I could have went that direction, but instead I moved to Colombia and started writing and growing my own food! If i ever move back to the US maybe I would look at other options.
If you decide to get your ASN instead of BSN can you still look into doing other specialties outside of the bed side ? I've never been interested in bed side nursing I'm hoping to go into hospice once I get my degree
I am pretty sure you can get a job in hospice with an ASN, or ADN.. but is what I would do is do a little research to make sure, but most places will hire you and then pay for your schooling to get a bachelors..
Girl ... not to discourage you but as a new grad... when I was a nursing student I saw these videos and ignored it because "This is their experience might not be mine" On the floor now and its bad... I really feel disgusted.. "Patient care" is a front... at the end of the day its all about how much money the hospital can save and how much the hospital can make .
What she is saying is mostly true but it’s true of a lot of careers. It’s just the money hungry world we live in. After you get your first year of experience if you aren’t happy move around until you find a specialty that doesn’t burn you out. There are so many options in nursing.
I loved nursing but where I worked they all sucked the joy out of me. Who is they ? Nursing Administration, Hospital Ceos, and Nurse managers. They all kiss each other's butts ! And expect you to kiss theirs .
I did that for over 12 years. The stress, low pay, and micro managing are still there. You will have to meet impossible metrics that can't be met unless you are willing to work more than 10 hours a day. The turn over is pretty high, but you will be expected to still take on extra work with no extra pay. I worked as a Case Manager, Utilization Review, and Preauthorization. I retired last year after I was threatened with termination for not getting the Jab, even though I was a remote worker-no contact with patients or coworkers.
I don't understand how you're a nurse going into a scientific medical field.Where you have to give vaccinations everything else.I agree with you on but that now I understand the covid vaccination because it wasn't really approved yet and i was iffy myself getting it however Everything else I agree with respectfully. And understand your frustration as to why most nurses are quitting and are understaff.Ed and doing unsafe assignments.I am in the middle of taking my pre reqs and a cna

I'm a RN. I was never interested in best side nursing. I just got a job as a elementary school nurse and I love it !!!!!

Each day in nursing for me feels like taking a shower in cold water, you know it’s about to suck, you mentally prepare yourself for the suck, you take a deep breath and just do what you have to do as fast as you can and get out as quickly as you can.
ooh this is probably the best description i have heard about nursing.. so sad and true!
Yes, definitely sounds & looks like nursing 😢
I'm out!!
Agreed that management uses our sense of responsibility for others and our compassion as a weapon to guilt us.
I moved to Mexico three years ago and I've lost 20 lbs. A visit back to my doctor in California, and my doctor said it's common to lose weight when you move to other countries because they don't have the processed foods that we have in the U.S.
exactly, its so sad that is what the US has come too.

Not true in all cases. ICU nurses literally save the lives of others. I left nursing, I would never recommend it as a career to anyone now as medicine is just a money making machine & Nurses are treated like disgracefully.

You remind me of me!!!! I tell everyone we live in a sickcare model and people don’t want to be healthy! They want a pill or a shot and don’t want to put in the work! I am mental health counselor therapist and share your frustrations. People don't want to take responsibility for their health and want to be fixed with medication that ends up masking their issues and causing even more illness from side effects. Started an LVN to RN bridge program this summer and after clinical I am certain I will not be going back to the hospital setting. Honestly I believe I will continue to do pediatric home health because of the flexibility and I enjoy what I do. I agree with a lot of what you are saying.
Yes, you are smart to have left the bedside.. and helping kids at home sounds way more rewarding than the hospital grind. Good luck in school!
Every year, insurance companies are cutting coverage and raising costs for premiums and care.
ooh i didnt realize they lowered the requirements! wow that is def scary. its all just a game.

I prefer herbal remedies now and people think I am crazy also! and everyone wants a quick fix!

Completely agree!
10000000000000%
My fear is that all the nurses who leave only leave the growing number of patients at risk. The system will break at the expense of lives.
Hospitals don’t care. They will run the hospitals into the ground just to make a profit. That’s what they want.

Quit 2 years ago, after 30 years. Worked both outpatient and bedside, it all sucks after awhile. The issues are all the same.
yep it all sucks.. dang 30 years. congrats on finally quitting
@@SaraBurdick Thanks.
Hi, I appreciate you a lot for this video. You said it all. I couldn't have said it better. I can relate to most of what you said. Nursing really socks in the US. I got into nursing to help & make a positive impact in any community I find myself 😌, however, this is not the case, and I'm not happy about it. Have been in Nursing for more than 2 decades, still at bedside ...looking for a way out!
i hope you find a way out! have you looked at remote jobs?
I agree with you ,every word you say. Thinking about my escape route now.
do it ! you wont regret it..
I left the hospital in 2007 !!! I Love Home Health Care !!!
oooh yea that would be soo much better! glad you found something you love!
Exactly!!! It's so toxic and they want to destroy you... It is good you have the experience and will excel !!
@@SaraBurdick thank you! I wish they would stop being so dramatic about nursing school and making it sound so hard like it’s theoretical physics. I feel like it scares off a lot of potentially good nurses and puts unnecessary pressure. I mean yeah of course it’s challenging and it should be
@@Laurenslack1989 completely agree!
Gosh I was a medic for the last 5 years, Military. I have been looking into the natural progression-healthcare. This video has me thinking twice
@@jamming_sis5780 yea.. you can probably find something better.
I'm a new grad nurse and i've developed anxiety when I came out of orientation :( I don't know what other jobs to do as a new nurse. Most jobs want a nurse with at least 1yr of acute care experience.
Yea .. look into working for insurance companies... Or start ups .
@@SaraBurdickI never worked in a hospital but worked as a private duty nurse in Homecare and now I’m a supervisor in the same Homecare agency. I actually want to leave nursing in general. In the meantime, I want a remote job while I train in IT. What’s a good remote position for me in the meantime?
You are awesome for posting this 🙌🏽❤️
thank you!
love this was a nurse and agree 110%
its a sad reality isn´t it! Thank you
I am a new grad on orientation and I already have plans to leave bedside.... something has to change
yea leave as soon as you can.. there are a lot of non bedside jobs now!
I am an OT and work at a nursing home...I am about done as well as so many therapists I know
Yea I think this can apply to almost all of us including OT/PT and any therapists! There are so many better options for you!
The best video you have ever done . So powerful and so true and so sad . maybe you need to start a Better Way commune in Colombia .where there is real food .
Thank you so much! I def plan on starting something similar that will involve real food!! I have a few friends Colombian already doing it!
Can I say that it’s the same for all other professions. Education is worse friends! In all professions the systems are so corrupt! We are now living in a confuse and troubled times.
Very troubled times!
Yep I met so many and they all said the same!
I got a job in rheumatology as an infusion nurse in a private practice and I love my job. I have also started a program to be
Private practice is the best place for nurses!!
5:00 speak it, sister! All the truth! You are courageous!
Thank you!
You have the same problems in teaching. That's why there's a shortage of teachers. Parents have removed their kids from public schools because they don't want the government mandating craziness.
yea i would do the exact same thing tho, if i had kids..
And school shootings..........
Bravo 👍🏻 i fully fully agree! Finally some truth
thank you!
And I quitted nursing to drive Uber so much flexibility and no stress and no need to worry about to call sick if I ever needed to.
that sounds way better!!
You are correct ☑️ about a lot of things but long as money 💰 runs the world it’s going to stay the same.
So true
Why don’t you use your RN (or LPN - not sure which applies as both as nurses) for a functional medicine or IV clinic? Usually patients there are more responsible for their health and want more than a what pills are available.
I am an RN and yes I could have went that direction, but instead I moved to Colombia and started writing and growing my own food! If i ever move back to the US maybe I would look at other options.
Nowadays there’s more managers than worker Its over manage to the point the regulation is screwed.
That is insanity! I will never understand why the do that... It only hurts the nurses and ultimately the patients
Thank you for this video.
Thanks for watching 😄
Thanks for your video. Im an rn nurse. And im so tired of this field.
i am glad you enjoyed it, i hope you can transition to somewhere better.
If you decide to get your ASN instead of BSN can you still look into doing other specialties outside of the bed side ? I've never been interested in bed side nursing I'm hoping to go into hospice once I get my degree
I am pretty sure you can get a job in hospice with an ASN, or ADN.. but is what I would do is do a little research to make sure, but most places will hire you and then pay for your schooling to get a bachelors..
despite all the negatives i still want to pursue this as a career
good! we still need nurses!
Nurses are the WORST BULLIES. Patient care means nothing but a corporate meme.
Yep!
Finally..U r da most beautiful NURSE👍🏻👍🏻🍺🍺🍺
Thank you!
I couldn't deal with adult poop for any amount of money.
Never again!
me a nursing student in my first semester right now looking for a pharmacology video for review and this video pops up 😭😭
Sorry...but this is only my experience not yours.. everyone has their own
Girl ... not to discourage you but as a new grad... when I was a nursing student I saw these videos and ignored it because "This is their experience might not be mine" On the floor now and its bad... I really feel disgusted.. "Patient care" is a front... at the end of the day its all about how much money the hospital can save and how much the hospital can make .
@@CCC9437 yep..
What she is saying is mostly true but it’s true of a lot of careers. It’s just the money hungry world we live in. After you get your first year of experience if you aren’t happy move around until you find a specialty that doesn’t burn you out. There are so many options in nursing.
What careers do you recommend to high school seniors?
depends what you like to do? I would pick a career that aligns with your interests.
I loved nursing but where I worked they all sucked the joy out of me. Who is they ? Nursing Administration, Hospital Ceos, and Nurse managers. They all kiss each other's butts ! And expect you to kiss theirs .
@@carolsipala1639 exactly!!!!
Totally agree
im a private nurse, i only nurse my dog
Best way to practice nursing!
Screw the FDA lol
Completely agree!!
Health insurance companies hire tons of nurses
Yea they do now.
@@churchofpos2279 its insane isn´t it? I am sure you are much happier and healthier!!
Do you have to do bedside nursing?
No I left bedside
Dang girl! Your Fire!🔥
Hehe thank you!
Good luck with school thanks for the comment
I'm a male rn garbage profession went into engineering. No drama
Yea since leaving no drama!
So if everyone quits who will take care of sick people in the hospital ?
Everyone won't quit
Ai
I get 30k a year as an nhs nurse, 200k wow
oh wow.. yea its a huge difference in the US
Nursing is a great occupation. We need nurses.
We do.. unfortunately it's really bad right now
I'm a nurse its HELL ON EARTH
@@mariekano9730 thank you for sharing.. so many dont get it!
What they did before medications is die by age 40.
Exactly.. I agree with Antibiotics and certain treatments but I think overall the health system is flawed and should not be based on people as dollar signs
