"Lo, they do call to me. They bid me take my place among them..." South's significant contribution to the renewed excitement in traditional archery should not be overlooked. Like Fred Bear and others before him South is doing what he loves while spotlighting his bows. He's one of the greats. I look forward to placing my order for a Coyote in 2022!
Jesus South, another close encounter. I’m glad you can get out there and hunt those great animals. At 71 I’m too old to do it, but with your videos you put me there. Thanks man!
Absolutely loved the sometimes shakey and out of focus footage that shows how truly hard it is to capture something like this. Tim's edit couldn't be any better....outstanding film...hats off!
Absolutely legendary. Next to none. Nobody in the world captures this kind of stick bow experience on film year after year. The artwork and master craftsmanship is truly incredible. You're really doing something special. You must have a great crew. What a show. The shot sequence where you're alternaing between holding still and ranging the bull was the best thing I've ever seen on film. I could feel it. Amazing work, congratulations!
Trully outstanding Trad bow elk videos that you have produced. Up close and personal. I’ve always wanted one of your recurves but my wife says at 71 I have too many now. Have enjoyed all your videos. Thanks
It’s not often you find a bow manufacturer that makes films as beautifully crafted as their bows….I definitely will own a Stalker Stickbow in the near future. Just out of respect from one craftsman to another. You’re one helluva woodworker, South!!!
Everything about this is amazing. Thank you for all the work, I know ho much it takes to bring these pics from the woods to our livingrooms! Proud Stalker Bow Owner! Took my first Game with it!
ok.........ok, so i went on a little video splurge because im a new converted longbow archer. I just realized that not only do you have at least 3 good bulls on camera with a longbow. But holy crap man, it looks like all three have been taken under 10 yard ranges? Man what's the deal with those crazy close encounters. I feel like I have a decent percentage to get it done with elk. But this is a level i'm in total awe of. Honestly man, how are you doing this? Not just you, but I mean you got cameramen, callers, etc. For anyone who's done that before, it's unbelievably difficult. But you guys have replicated it at least 3 times. So one last time......like what are you doing different? Truly amazing footage to watch.
I didn't think the other one could be topped! I dunno for sure if it actually surpasses it, but it's too close to call! Thanks for sharing this with us! Love your hunts!
This is my first season ever hunting and I decided to use a traditional bow. I watched one of your films and it really inspired me. I currently have my eyes set on this ten point buck. I know where he likes to be and had some close stalks, but no good looking shots yet
Very authentic! I see good potential here for powerful films once you iron out a few niggles. Need a filter to eliminate wind noise rumble, improve the matching between cameras on color, exposure and sharpness, start using jump cuts between cameras when a shot gets too shaky, and use narration especially when you’re showing people talking but don’t have the audio
What a awesome hunt and great camera work. I have shoulder issues right now, but hope to pick my bows up again soon. I had to drop down to a 40# bow last year, this year I have a hard time even getting a few shots off with that. Do you have any recommendations for me about maybe going lower in weight?
17:11 That arrow looks like it hit the shoulder bone. That's why the shallow penetration. and I'd guess only one lung hit. The bull probably went at least 500 yards I'd guess.
He went about 150-175 yards. I was using a Valkyrie. I was at full draw for about 20 seconds before the shot, wasn’t where I wanted to place the arrow that’s for sure.
@@stalkerstickbows4679 Well, at least you recovered him. There's some really bad bowhunting videos on here these days showing some really unethical shots. Way too far, way beyond the hunter's skill level. Bad gut shots, no recovery or recovery of coyote ravaged bones or bloated fly covered carcasses. There seems to be a love for really long shots with spindly arrows, and subsequent lost animals.
@@HillTrekkerSarge Actually fairly good penetration, after the hit the arrow back out from the initial penetration. Probably got both lungs or one lung and liver.
So awesome! I thought this was the movie from the previous year (the “5 Yard Bull) so it took me a while to watch it. One question, and I’m genuinely asking and not trying to be an internet armchair quarterback, but why so little penetration from so close a shot? Did you hit bone? - Emrah
Good video, but could have done without the dramatic tunes, i am an artist and hunt trad, so im much like you'all, i want to see the whites of their eyes, up close, and see all the details, especialy the Oh-Crap look when they realize its too late to jump..........

I literally liked before watching this. You just know with South you’re getting a great film.

Great vid, as usual! Congrats!
Your right there... Always quality and great story telling.
Wow, this brings back really good memories. I hunted elk with a longbow, years ago. This is the best video of archery elk hunting I have ever seen.
Wow , my heart was in my mouth watching this. Spectacular
Real sitting on the edge of the couch stuff. Best video of this type I’ve seen
Once again South, another film that you've knocked out of the ballpark. Great work.
If that don't get you fired up for September I don't know what will. Great show!!!

Awesome quality and great watch as always 👍
That must have been a great pre-hunt shopping trip!
Fantastic video! Very well done sir!
It’s not easy to get in such position and the direction of the wind plays a part....great video
Made me fell like like I was right there, slowly moving for that perfect shot
Thank you for making this.
great job!
Awesome! Congratulations!!!
Incredible hunt. Good job guys
Pure awesome South!
Awesome. Wish there was an “uncut” version as well. Would love to know what that shot ended up hitting, how the blood trail was etc.
Next. Level. Good. Film. 👍

Intense! Congrats!

This video got me so pumped to hunt

Sick
High lung shot, and about 50% of the arrow sticking out. How far did he go before you found him? What broadhead did y'all use?

@@stalkerstickbows4679 awesome video! Did you end up hitting the shoulder blade? Tough to tell on the slight quartering to angle. Glad you found him!

Awesome hunt dude how heavy are you arrows what kind of broadhead did you use
Unreal
Fantastic South you are the man. Is this a new type of recurve you are testing?

The arrow backed out quite a bit after the initial penetration if you look closely.
Epic.
Why are all the trees dead? Was there a bushfire in there in the past?
It is from the Asian bark beetle. They have literally decimated the pine forests throughout Colorado.
Hey South, what are specs on bow and arrow set up?
60” Vortex, 50#@27 1/2”. 565 grain arrow
