Great video South. I couldn't help but think of all the times I have let myself down on stalks. Watching you struggle was awe inspiring and like you said we can't always be successful (although sometimes I wish that werent true). But other times it all comes together when you least expect it. Thanks for sharing another hunt with us, reminds me of the hunts I can look forward to in the future, along with pain, excitement, highs, lows, good times with friends, but above all just being out in the wild.
Alway`s enjoy your film`s, and your stalk`s are really exciting too. Just wanted to tell you I understand your feeling`s about being over run from people in your Mountain. I started hunting in the 60`s, most of the people hunting had an area they hunted more often, and there was something like a code, everyone stayed in his area. Today when I look on google earth, I could cry. Where I stalked Deer and Elk, all you see are ATV trails, roads I traveled with the old Willy`s you can drive a Caddy on today. Through social media today, everybody wants to experience these same things, and I am afraid South your`re going to see the same thing`s I do now, so enjoy all you can as long as you can, good luck for the future.
Great quality video. Dont see too many camera people following bowhunters very often. Especially unique with the ‘live’ commentary during the stalk. Awesome stuff.
No dear, but still the memories, sometimes these are coming home with the real treasure, I have thousands of memories, of successful hunts or empty handed days, these are all the times your heart knows true golden times. Great adventure days !!!!
Thankyou for sharing brother . The other side to hunting nobody likes to show! first season hunting with a trad bow and boy am i excited !!! I have learned lots fom your channel ! good luck out there
Your videos definitely show the spiritual side of what it is to be on the mouth here voice is amazing amazing you should definitely definitely try to put that out there more you can definitely do talk over why your voice It's amazing especially along with this type of footage
I was fortunate enough to harvest a nice 8 pointer whitetail this past season with my long bow, man it really made my hunt Very special being my first trad harvest. 👍✌
I tipped the hat to You sir you have been on smash loot giants in your last couple films and you're sticking with that longbow recur whatever I don't know man I think I might go back to compound I guess I'll never know unless I try
Great edit South. That’s what hunting is all about to me the whole journey. And need that little bit of 5% luck to get that deer in the freezer. All the best for the 2021 season Cheers Marty
Man South , that was awesome! I love that you share all your hunts no matter the out come . I respect and appreciate that its not all Hollywood, bells and whistles and constant advertisements. The passion , the journey, the highs and lows ,the memories and friendships made is what makes a hunt epic and truly amazing. Thanks again.
The stalk is the most heart pounding feeling there is! If we killed them every time we went , wouldn't have any to hunt! Wetake our experiences back to the house, never to forget where our mistakes were. Great vedio! Am a spot an stauker myself! Many hunts to ya!
Some hunts just are heart-breaking. Hours of preparation, logistics, gear, tags, regs, etc for a chance at what some may measure as 'success'. I really love the vids and bows y'all put out though, so you've got that...which with about $3 will get you a cup of coffee. Press on!
I wish more guys would shoot stick bows. Increasing hunter numbers and the ease/efficiency of the modern compound will be the death of general archery seasons. Everyone wants it the easy way. Hats off to you, South for doing it the right way.
I too feel your pain about backcountry hunting. With information available at the touch of everyone's fingertips now. UA-cam has dozens of 'influencers' who post all their backcountry stuff, not to mention the Outdoor Channel, The Sportman's channel, and all the other TV shows which are surely fueling the drive for new hunters. It's a blessing and a curse, but that's the new reality.
Another awesome vid South. Your frustration was palpable. Never had the opportunity to hunt mulies but have experienced the same with whitetails. So when did you come over to the dark side with a recurve? It looked like a belly mount. Going to your website and reconnoiter.
So the "it is getting crowded" seems to be a common theme across the west or any public land area for that matter and I don't mean this in an accusatory tone, but films like this and the promotion of these types of hunts is a significant part of what has led to sooooo many people in places where there used to be so few, particularly archers. Challenges any more are normally not linked to biological health of herds, but social capacity and quality of experience challenges.
Will I agree. I realize full well that the “work” I do filming my hunts and sharing with the public has a negative impact on my own hunts. Many decades ago, I watched a mule deer video by Larry Jones. The following year I picked up a book on how to hunt mule deer by Dwight Schuh and my passion for mule deer began. Those two men changed my life, seriously. I can’t help but think the same thing had happened to others like me. At a time when hunting is under siege and hunter numbers are needed to combat the constant threats in legislature and the ballot box, we need all the hunters we can muster. I’m hoping to do my part to inspire guys like myself, 35 years ago. If some of my hunts suffer as a result, that’s collateral damage I’m ok with suffering-even though I bellyache about it.
Solution to your problem is to buy the mountain and put up no trespassing signs. BTW, welcome to the reality of Public land hunting now dry your eyes and enjoy the hunt!
Non è un ' ottima pubblicità per Stalker..cmq..cervi salvi, tu hai fatto attività fisica e una vacanza nella natura..alla fine tutti felici..i cervi di più..
Great content, but it always cracks me up when people making money promoting western hunting turn around and complain about all the new people doing exactly what they are promoting.
These are my absolute favorite to watch. South Cox you are very poetic and speak the language of us bowhunters. Thanks!
Great to see a video with the struggles and the misses. Thank you so much for the integrity and the humility. Excellent Video.
South you put out such great stuff please dont ever stop.

Outstanding video! Yes it’s a difficult passion, but just to carry a traditional bow is worth every step. Keep the faith. Never give up.

Class video south 🎥🙌🏻 shame it’s getting busy but they will never have the memory you have
The mountain got me in 2020 also. Here's to 2021. We will hunt again.
I'm surprised that buck you threw rocks at stayed laying down for so long it looked like you almost hit him 😅

Great videos. Healthy attitude.

Great film South👍,from you fb friend Flint arcos tradicionales

That was a Vortex I was using on that hunt. I’m generally 50# +/-

Bad ass! 👊🏽🔥💯🏹
What camera/lenses were used to film this. Awesome watch!
What boots are you using?
Do you think that people posting their hunts on UA-cam has contributed to the overcrowding of these wild areas?
That's hunting plain and simple 🤙🤙
Man i have a hard time stalking up and killing critters with my compound...your an inspiration to better my stealthyness
Is this by Elko or Wells
Anyone know what arrow shafts he uses?
Gold Tip Kinetic
Keep shooting so Gary can make more arrows.
Go hunting list desirable area if you work hard you can still get the opportunity to get a deer and still have a good opportunity of getting that tag
Very good

Not that I don’t like south or this video, but it’s rich to here the people who helped make the back country more busy complain about it
The process of hunt it"s self more enjoyable that kill it self.
Keeping it real.....
