Best piece of advice I have heard lately is "knuckles down". I'm sure I have heard it a million times and have seen it in dozens of videos, but most recently when I saw a technique tip from Jared Enderton it really stuck in my brain. I've been looping the bar a lot lately and that one tip made all the difference in the world. By keeping your knuckles pointing down towards the floor in the pull, you eliminate that wrist angle which allows the bar to loop out in front of you when it makes contact with your hips. This may be a little unrelated but hopefully it helps one of you guys keep that bar closer and that barbell path more vertical!
Kyle McD Jared is always dropping knowledge for free on his pages, gotta love that. Not taking anything away from the barbell shrugged guys by any means, I've prob watched every episode by these guys, but it's nice to hear different queues from different guys. Gotta absorb it all to see what works for you. Being open minded is big for weightlifting.
This is exactly what I needed. I'm just getting into the sport but have loved and watched it all my life. I'm having a hard time with flexibility issues and dropping. I'm wanting to power snatch and power clean EVERYTHING. This will help me a lot!! Thanks Kurt. Oh, I'll be 67 this year!!
dope. will definitely try that first one to get comfortable with catching ass to grass. one tip that change everything for me was keeping in mind when exploding up jump vertically like if you were right underneath a basketball rim
when i practice the no hook no feet snatch i start me feet in the catch position cause i find with a narrow stance the purpose of the exercise is gone because the pull will be too uncormfortable to reach the squat. PERSONAL OPINION
Guys, just a simple question - throughout the years of watching youtube and working out I saw tons of videos on snatches and other things and even did it myself when I tried CrossFit. Olympic lifters do that for medals, crossfitters do that because they apparently have a spare spine or something...why on earth do we need this move? Where does it help? Where can I actually excel at if I know how to pull a barbell from the floor to the straight hands above my head? Aside from the actual Olympic weightlifting and CrossFit, of course.
@@sayfeddinebentatou8662 I've done jiu-jitsu and boxing. None of it requires these moves and none of them benefits from these moves. The mechanics of judo throws are different from Olympic weightlifting and in boxing you just don't have anything even remotely similar to it

What about thumbless grip? Does anyone here use that method? I do Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and that is used a lot in this fighting technique so that grip kinda transferred over into lifting for me.
hey kurt can i work out at home , i have z bar en dumbells , can i incorporate the high snatch using the z bar'? and if so im thinking it would be a compound workout, can do that like 3 set 10 reps kind of thing... thanks a ot lve the video

Haha what up Kurt!? Huge fan of the show, keep up the good work fellas.
I saw that from Jared as well and liked it. Also used his "shoulders back" or pinching your shoulders in the start position to keep the bar close.

FineAzz Beeyah might be better to just do chin-ups or Pullups to build grip strength after speed work
